Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
spinamum · 12/09/2006 16:39

Ps I'm loving being PG again. Thanks to my chiropractor!! Still no heartburn. might even have some chocolate.

Loulou000 · 12/09/2006 17:00

Hmm, my DP isn't keen on the reusable nappy plan either. Funny, that. I can't quite work out why. Disposables for a few weeks and then reusables sounds like a plan to me.

Spina, what is your new buggy? I need a suitable from birth buggy and am bewildered as yet.

magnolia1 · 12/09/2006 17:13

Oh my goodness what a lot to read

Went to docs today and she has given me co-dydramol and have physio next Monday. Can't get an appointment with midwife but I see the consultant at 28 weeks so will just wait till then. Havent seen anyone since I was 16 weeks

spinamum · 12/09/2006 17:36

not seen anyone since 16wks here either. someone at work was asking me why I was buying gaviscon yesterday instead of asking for it on prescription. Because I havn't seen GP since Wk 5 when I saw him to put me into the maternity process!(not counting neck issue last wk when I wasn't thinking about pg, only pain!!!)

the INFAMOUS buggy is an iCandy Apple(I LOVE it) It's got the option to reverse the seat so Beanie can face me (and DS on buggy board-which may not fit-whoops!) and I've got the carrycot bit as well despite DH and I being really smug(why?) about not buying one last time and having one buggy for every stage of baby/toddler while my friends seem to buy one every two months! DS1 spent a lot of time in his car seat on top of my current buggy in travel system mode. The lady in my local (too expensive) nursery shop told me that there are really tight guidelines on the time newbies should spend in car seats(well she would, she was trying to sell me stuff!!)However it makes sense and as I've not have to buy anything else for DS2 except two grobags(as DS1 borrowed one at few months stage) I've now got a pram bit for my buggy. You can't buy them on internet but their website is \link{http://icandyuk.com\this i hope. I actually managed to buy mine on ebay new, but I guess it was from someone who sells them in RL and does a bit of trade on there too. I got a bargain but did have minor panic attacks when I thought about what I'd done. What if it was dodgy? What if it broke?etc etc, but I spoke to her today on phone and I've got her address and phone number and it sounds like they're a proper operation. I'll let you all know on friday when (if?) the thing turns up.

spinamum · 12/09/2006 17:38

sorry about link......www.icandyuk.com in old money!

Devongirl · 12/09/2006 17:50

Hi

just went to the GP and I have an infection in my sinuses, and he has prescribed me antibiotics (amoxycillin). He said they were fine, but on the leaflet it says "amoxycillin is only recommended for use during pregnancy when the benefits of the drug outweight the possible hazards to the unborn baby" which doesn't sound good to me. Any thoughts???

Elibean · 12/09/2006 20:41

Devongirl, thats what nearly all drugs say about taking them in pregnancy - they cover their butts that way, apart from anything else. A friend of mine is in the medical profession, is pregnant herself, and assures me that all the penicillin group are fine to take during pregnancy...been used for decades, too.
HTH a little, and also hope you feel better soon!

Magnolia, hope the co-c + physio does the job for you, too...

spinamum · 12/09/2006 21:20

DG,amoxycillin is totally fine in pregnancy.(speaking as a p'cist)
drug companies do cover ther butts regarding EVERYTHING when it comes to us preggy women, but honestly it is fine.
hope you and magnolia are feeling better soon.

spinamum · 12/09/2006 21:51

sorry on a linked subject(being a p'cist) I'm not trying to get you all signed up to some database or anything. However for your info, if you join the Boots Parenting Club while pg you get a load of great freebies. Moisturisers,No7 stuff, deep conditioner, etc. Obviously Boots will send you stuff(ie mailings!) in future, but I was quite pleased with my bag of stuff(You get vouchers to spend rather than an actual bag of stuff). Nearer to baby time, you get some more stuff(changing mats/bag i think) Sorry if that sounds like some ad for Boots. Just there if anyone wants to sign up anyway. I actually waited to sign up(while I was TTC) so I got the Preg stuff(how selfish am I)
Now I just need to get some time in the bathroom with the bath bubbles!

accessorizequeen · 12/09/2006 21:55

It's difficult DG, you're right in that everything you take goes through to the baby but because nothing is tested on pg women obviously they'll always say we can't have it! I only pay attention when they say contra-indicated & listen to the advice of my pg pharmacist friend if I'm not sure.
Funny that all the dps & dh's aren't keen on reusables, given that most of them don't wash them anyway (mine certainly hasn't washed any of ds's clothes in nearly 3 years).
I'm sure there were some pullups recommended on one of the nappy threads, Minkis maybe?
Also came across Little Greeen Earthlets, Eeenee & Spirit of Nature biodegradeable nappies but Moltex seem to get a good write up. However, how enormous would wormery have to be? And someone who had used Moltex said they took 18 months to degrade in their compost bin. I really don't think I can be arsed. But did get very interested in the discussion on the mooncup & washable pads, bloomin heck!
My issues with the poo somewhat soothed by the 'it'll just come off with the liner'line that people are spinning elsewhere. I dont have a problem with anything else but the poo, quite frankly, a few more loads of washing a week ain't gonna make much difference to me. And I got so sick of buying nappies all the time, constant money & time drain.

spinamum · 12/09/2006 22:01

the poo thing was a concern but having removed pooey pants from my DS chicken poxed bottom in June ,I feel prepared now

accessorizequeen · 12/09/2006 22:27

dp bought some of those cheapo pants for ds (10 for 2 quid or something) so we just throw them out - I didn't for weeks, but the smell's just making me want to retch at the moment. So I can't handle occasional potty training accidents, but I'm going to flush pooey newborn nappies in the toilet???

lucy5 · 13/09/2006 11:15

Elibean you will be glad to know that I spoke too soon and my heartburn is back and i've been throwing up all morning! i have one more pharmacy to try in Gib for the Zantac and if I can't get it I will cat you, thanks!

Loulou000 · 13/09/2006 11:54

iCandy Apple looks nice. Is it heavy? Oh, you haven't got it yet have you.

Definitely want free stuff from Boots! Thanks for the tip.

Redlorry75 · 13/09/2006 12:48

Hi All,

How are we today?
Just thought I would let you know DH is taking me to get my Crocs tonight - hurrah - although only on the grounds that I can wear them out while PG but after which they must be resigned to indoor and garden wear only!

All I can say is thank you Davina McCaall for being seen wearing them in a tabloid yesterday or he'd never have agreed to it.

What's the saying? 'Barefoot and Pregnant' Well that's me if I dont get Crocs! I have to go to the Exscape buidling in one of thier ultra trendy shops to get them, as parking is easier - large PG 30 something shopping in a predominantley 20 something shop - will I be allowed?
DH has also said if we're good - me and DD that is, we have McDonalds afterwards, ahh a BigMac at last! So no cooking for me tonight either - bonus!

accessorizequeen · 13/09/2006 14:20

V.excited for you about crocs redlorry, I posted mine back this morning hope the right size arrive soon. I was v.tempted by bright colours but as my feet are size 9 i think I would look like noddy. All I want right now are comfy shoes, comfy trousers, comfy knickers and comfy bra. Cannot believe I have grown out of more bras fgs, and tried on maternity trousers this morning which no longer fit (wore them 10 days ago with all the elastic pulled in!). Had to wear them as nothing else ironed but couldn't even bend over!
DS being little nightmare this week, I am so sick of timeout on the stairs or 'I'm going to count to 5'. Haven't lost my temper yet surprisingly but I can't sleep at all, insomnia is getting worse as I'm massively stressed about work whilst too tired to actually do all that needs doing. I slept in the spare room last night just to try and break the cycle, the futon is so uncomfortable!

Redlorry75 · 13/09/2006 14:29

Ahh A-queen, dont get stressed. If you're at home do as I do and wear a vest top and a sarong.
I know what you mean about clothes though, my boobs are busting out, my knickers are slicing my legs off and as for trousers I have two pairs of extra large sized cropped trousers to accomodate belly and a pair of maternity jeans - all of which are too hot!
I am sweating for England and the A/C in my office is out of order so it's 88 degrees. GP wants to sign me off for a couple of weeks, but that just means more work to come back to and I only do 5 hours a day - stress? What would we do without it.....

Funnily enough DD is also getting back in to moody mode, saying no and lying on the floor sulking when she doesnt get her own way - last week she was an angel - I wonder if it's getting back in to the pre-school routine that's done it?

castlesintheair · 13/09/2006 14:51

So pleased (IYKWIM ) it's not just me with badly behaved DCs at the moment. DS started school on Monday and so far he threw sand over someone in the sandpit on Monday (DH thought this was funny), hit someone over the head because they tried to take a toy away on Tuesday (he apologised apparently) and pushed DD 2.6 off a low wall outside our house on the way home today! I am not amused but am putting it down to first week/term nerves. Hope I am right.

It doesn't help that I also have developed insomnia, AQ, and DD has been throwing up all morning! A friend of mine had insomnia during her last pg and she ended up taking Nytol even though gp/p'cist said not to. Baby turned out ok . What do you think?

I was having a good day yesterday. Knew I'd spoken too soon

Redlorry75 · 13/09/2006 14:59

When I picked DD up from pre-school today another mum was next to me getting her son from the little table they sit at, and he moved between me and DD and instead of asking him to move out of the way as I tried to put my DD's jacket on she just carried on dressing him - however she is new so I thought I would be polite and wait. DD had other ideas and pushed him out of the way. The mother in me said out loud "Hey no pushing" but the mummy in me thought "Well Done" and then rewarded DD with a packet of sweets on the way home .
Can't help but envy children sometimes for doing the right thing even when it's the wrong thing.

castlesintheair · 13/09/2006 15:11

Yes know what you mean RedLorry about children acting out how we feel half the time. DH said DS had probably been provoked. My DS lay down on the floor right in the middle of things at playgroup once aged 2.6 and I told him to get up. A friend just laughed and said "castles, when children that age are tired they just lie down, they aren't bothered about protocol". Sometimes I think we have more to learn from our children than the other way around. Oh dear, philosophy creeping in must be lack of sleep/hunger, better go and rest my weary head ...

weirdbird · 13/09/2006 17:29

Wow, loads of posts

No time to comment having caught up, but hello all {waves}

accessorizequeen · 13/09/2006 17:42

Do you think insomnia just another pg symptom then? It's just I've had it ever since DS was born, unable to go back to sleep when he woke in the night. I can cope with waking in the night for the new baby, but it's the thought of then lying awake for the rest of the night that I can't deal with. I get so angry and frustrated. And I'm just a zombie, if I could just get one good night I could start functioning again.
With DS I'm doing a great deal of counting under my breath. Nothing has changed for him in last week or so, he started being a brat at his grandma's last weekend & hasn't stopped. Spent yesterday with my mum & stepdad yesterday, they said he was an angel but as soon as they left the house he had full blown 30 min tantrum.
RedLorry, I just want to put my jammies on all the time at the moment, hadn't thought of sarong (don't think the neighbours would cope). I too have ridiculously hot office which I struggle to cope with in summer anyway, no a/c, just a fan I brought in myself. I would love to take a day off but just can't. Tempted to put ds in nursery for an extra half day just to catch a break as DP working much of the weekend!

softymom · 13/09/2006 17:50

fascinated by these Crocs - are they all made of plastic?

accessorizequeen · 13/09/2006 17:55

Nope, resin, I think thus not slippery & I can't believe how light they are, no wonder they're so comfy. See the (very long) thread under products. I bought mine (not that I'm wearing them yet) from this ebay seller .

lucy5 · 13/09/2006 17:57

I've got insomnia too!
