I met a friend who was 9months pregnant and my bump was around the same size as hers and im 28weeks this week!! Shows how much difference there is with every bump.

holls2000 · 02/06/2014 17:33

My bump is ridiculous - everyone at work today was full of its hugeness. That really cheered me up!

whiteblossom · 02/06/2014 18:05

my dh is always agast at how big I am, Ive had a mw comment on its size and another tell me Im measuring 2.5 weeks ahead! Yet friends and family accept dh say Im doing fine, not too big, not too small. My dm would give it to me straight and not sugar coat it Grin

I think if someone my dh is used to seeing you smaller with a flat stomach then yes Im going to look big to them.

I think the photo I posted earlier doesn't really show a true largeness 'likeness' but it did show me that my thighs and arse have er...spread. I must go swimming!!

ilove your right bumps do vary hugely, everyone is different.

Topsyloulou · 02/06/2014 18:22

Loving all the bump photos. Here's my bump photo at 24+3. Think I've had a growth spurt over the weekend, think that's why he was so active last week & has slowed down a bit this week.

Managed to bang my bump on my desk today. Think I've given myself a bruise but little man seems fine & has been kicking me in the ribs to get revenge!

lilone1234 · 02/06/2014 19:40

Lovely bumps ladies!

I made an appointment with my GP to have my whooping cough vaccination at 28 weeks. I know it's still a relatively new vaccine for pregnancy, so although they say it's safe I can't help but worry a little. Has anyone else had it before since it began in pregnancy in 2012? Who is planning to have it?

BooSurprise · 02/06/2014 20:05

lilone I had the whooping cough vaccine last year when I was pregnant, I had no ill effects, it's the same vaccine that babies get at 8 weeks, if I need to have it again this time I will, whopping cough in tiny infants can be fatal.
I've been absent for ages again, especially as Dd2 is now sleeping through again, so my early morning catch -ups have been reduced!
I'm massive even my neighbour asked me today if I'll even get to 40weeks, as I look massive, however was measured today and measuring at 24wks, so about right. Not put any weight on yet either thanks to my diabetic diet, although got a right roloking today from consultant for not eating properly, they've added more insulin in for me and I've been told to eat a normal balanced diet, not cut out the carbs like I have been- although this gas been working in my favour weight wise.
Nowt else to report, and I will be trying my best to keep up and even post a bit more frequently.

Didn't realise we get offered the whooping cough vaccine, is that at the 28 week mid wife appointment? Will definitely be having it if I'm offered it, my brother had it when he was about 4 & I can still remember how awful it was even after 30 years.

cookielove · 02/06/2014 21:25

My sister had Whooping Cough as a baby, my mum said it was the scariest thing she's been through. She did go onto have two more kids though.

I'm going to get the whooping cough jab. In my area you go to your gp to get it, or the nurse possibly. After the fiasco of trying to get my flu jab though (I never got it because the MW said the nurse would give me it and the nurse said it was the MWs job to do it and neither would budge) I'm going to ring the gps myself soon and sort it out. I think they are meant to send a letter out to you though about it.

A child in my class has got nits :( Im pretty sure I haven't caught it but really can't afford to as I dont think it's safe to use nit shampoo in pregnancy. Argh Keeping my hair tied well back! (I have long, quite thick hair!)

Acorncat · 02/06/2014 22:16

I was told at my 22w appointment with MW to make a nurse appointment for whooping cough jag after 28 weeks. I'm going to get it done, don't know much about it really.

Teabiscuits · 02/06/2014 22:23

If you don't get offered the whooping cough jab, chase them up on it. Mine got overlooked last year and I didn't end up having it until 36 weeks which was cutting it a bit close!

topmammy nits are horrid aren't they. I have found the best preventative for DDs is to plait hair tightly and set it with enough hairspray to make it go hard or as much as I can get out the can while the poor girls hold their breaths and screw their eyes up . We must have had a child in one of their classes who's parents didn't treat for them, as we had issues for months Confused .

Teabiscuits · 02/06/2014 22:28

Oh and I had no side effects from the jab either, apart from a swollen arm but that happens to me with all immunisations.

DearDinah · 02/06/2014 22:58

Quick question, does anyone else get pins & needle type pains in tummy when lying on left side? I don't have the same sensation on my right do not sure what it's about! X

dontevenblink · 02/06/2014 23:39

Is there a recommended time to get the whooping cough vaccine in the UK? We can have it in NZ from 28 weeks, but the information pack the nurse gave me when I had my flu jab advised that the best time to have it is between 31 and 33 weeks to ensure the best immunity for baby. Don't know if this just applies to the vaccine we get here though?
I had a sore arm for a week when I had the flu jab as the nurse injected right into the muscle...

amy246 · 03/06/2014 08:39

Last night I had extreme pain in my whole bump for about a minute (I was literally crying out in pain!). It kind of felt like the baby was totally changing position and sticking out. Do you think he was flipping head down? I'm 27 weeks. It feels fine now and he's moving around lots

ilovemonstersInc · 03/06/2014 08:48

Arghh all this talk of nits is making my head itch.

I didn't have the vaccine last time and probably wont this time either. There's are a few vaccines I couldn't have due to health problems.

Amy could it have been bh? Ive been getting what feela like elbows or knees scraping across my stomach whcih is absolutely disgusting to feel and see

cookielove · 03/06/2014 08:54

dear I haven't had pins and needles but it sounds like the baby is lying on a nerve or blood vessel, ask your mw?

top tee tree oil is a good repellent for nits, I would have thought it safe in pregnancy, just a drop on your hair every day and let it dp its magic! Although I would check with your mw!

donteven there is a limit but I think it goes past birth assuming you breastfed, but I could so be wrong!

amy ouchies!!

amy246 · 03/06/2014 10:49

All I could think was 'I hope contractions aren't like this!' If they r then I want pain relief!

FoodieMum3 · 03/06/2014 11:44

Hi Amy. I had the exact same thing happen to me in bed last night and I am 25+ carrying breech.
Pain in bump, very similar to labour pain. I knew it was not BH as I get those but they are tightenings rather than pain.
I did wonder if it was baby turning head down but all my main movement is still high this morning with taps down below so unfortunately for me I think baby is still breech. Plenty of time to turn I know but mine has been in this position from as far back as presentation is noted Sad I think that was 18 weeks??

I love the bump photos!

Can't believe we are 6 months - yay

amy246 · 03/06/2014 13:06

I agree, it was definitely different from braxtons. I can't yet tell what exact position he's in, I can normally tell better in the evenings once I've had a big meal so I'll have to wait and see. I hope it was a one off!

whiteblossom · 03/06/2014 13:23

Afternoon ladies. Im in a really really bad mood.

It all started this morning when I wen to the loo and thought I was wiping a tiny bit of blood/specks. I still cant work if it was blood as we have stupid patterned loo roll with bright coral/green/blue. Once showered Ive been super watchful and of course Im now using plain white paper!

Had my ds been at school I'd have popped in the hospital but Id promised to take him out so figured Id keep a close eye out given that it was a tiny amount and given that Im not even sure it was blood!

Ive had nothing since that's worried me and baby is moving fine but the worry and the pressure of other stuff going on at the moment has pushed me over the edge.

hope your all having a better day than me. Ive just had a melt down over jam!

DearDinah · 03/06/2014 13:44

Aww blossom Thanks Try not to worry too much, it may have just been some discharge if baby is moving ok and your not in any pain I think it will be ok, can you maybe call MW just to see what she says?
Have a nice Brew and a sit down, what helps me are a few deep breaths in through nose into tummy and out through mouth blowing the stress away, (from my cd's and classes). It does help just to collect yourself for a bit. I'm sat at my desk right now doing it! xxx
