Wow, I'm impressed that people are packing their hospital bags already! Don't think I got round to doing it until about 36 weeks last time with dc3 (and that was because my midwife told me to Blush ). I was a lot more organised with dc1 though :)

I'm going to maybe be a bit more organised this time and pack it around 34 weeks... I will also be packing a spare bag that DH can grab if I run out of things (I can stay in for about 5 days here, which is great as we get ensuite room and nice food so it doesn't make you want to go home Grin ) and he turned up with some early baby, pink sleepsuits that were dc1's that would never have fitted ds2, and some clothes for me that I have never before worn and were totally inappropriate Grin

dontevenblink · 27/05/2014 00:12

lilone I wash all the baby clothes first, whether they are second hand or new, I find it makes them a bit softer for baby's skin. I also use sensitive washing powder and sensitive fabric conditioner. I actually got stopped in the supermarket the other day when I had ds1 and 2 with me to be asked the same question by a lady due with her first :)

Nazly · 27/05/2014 00:23

Coolcat thanks for that, thats better than what I found, so I may go for it... Although wanted to order in a shop so if we had any issue later we could go back there physically ! Not sure if that's important? Or would you just go direct to Uppababy if any issues?
Here is where I found it : www.baby-nest.co.uk/uppababy-vista-inc-cabriofix-car-seat.ir?cName=brands-uppababy-vista

Nazly · 27/05/2014 00:40

Hey all , I know the article is really funny Smile but if it is even half true it really freaked me out a bit... And some of the pros here saying it is !! I was already nervous not knowing about baby boys enough!

I am not even going to think about hospital bags until 32 weeks ... Too many other things to do before then though...

About washing clothes, I am debating if I should do it now or closer to the time so they are fresh?

velvetlilithi · 27/05/2014 07:55

Terrible night behind me. Just couple of minutes after I fell asleep, I woke up with killing back pains and couldn't sleep anymore. Was trying to find some normal pain-free position for rest of the night, but no chance. Feeling like beaten.
Just hope it was only back pain and not renal colic, which I had couple of years ago and the pain was exactly the same -low back part, unexpected, nothing helped to stop it. It almost made me cry.
We'll see how it's today.

After two 12 hours shift at work I'm exhausted, my legs hurt so much and I still have to prepare for my exams, when at home.

I've bought some beautiful second hand baby clothes, like new, although my fiancee just made a big fuss about it that my sister has baby clothes after 3 boys so we don't have to buy any to save money.

I think, tho, every baby needs something new, only for them. Do you agree? Have you bought any new clothes for your second or another baby, even if you didn't need it?

ilovemonstersInc · 27/05/2014 08:01

Velvet I bought ds2 a new pair to come home in and dm bought him some new stuff too. I will probably just buy a coming home outfit tbh as they grow out of their clothes so quickly in the first few months. Newborn didnt fit ds1 or 2. So they were straight into 0-3months. He was in them around 2weeks iirc.
As for washing clothes I never washed new clothes but washed old 2nd hand clothes. I know your supposed to. I never had tthe time to do so.

KitKat1985 · 27/05/2014 10:58

Hello ladies.

Just checking in really - can't believe I'm pretty much 5 and a half months now (24 weeks tomorrow)! Yesterday DH finally felt baby kick for the first time (he hasn't been able to before now, not sure if it's because of my anterior placenta or what) but it was really amazing to see the look on his face when he finally felt it.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night velvetlilithi - crossing my fingers you feel better soon. I've also hardly had to buy any clothes for baby girl yet as people keep giving them to me. It's very kind of them and I know it's saving us a lot of money, but I feel a bit sad about it all really as if I'm honest as I was quite looking forward to buying our little girl some clothes, and it's not really going to be worth it soon, as we will have so many. Also a lot of the clothes people are giving us are very, well, pink; and whilst I don't mind a little bit of pink, I never wanted our DD to be in head to toe in pink, but it looks like that's what is going to happen.

I'm definitely starting to find day-to-day tasks are getting more challenging (getting out of chairs, climbing stairs, etc) and I'm getting tired easily again (which hasn't been too bad since the first 10 weeks or so passed), and I know it's only going to get worse. Have basically 3 more months at work to get through which is feeling more and more daunting, (also, my heart just isn't really in work at the moment).

We are finally getting somewhere with 'nursery' (previously spare room full of mounds of junk). DH threw a lot of rubbish out over the bank holiday weekend and you can see the difference. I'm hoping another couple of weeks and finally it will be ready to make into a nursery, and we cans start getting cot etc. We've also been starting to buy some essentials over past couple of weeks (car seat, pram, breast pump, etc) so feel that things are very slowly starting to come together!

Impressed that some of you ladies are organised enough to be doing a hospital bag already! Mine probably won't get done for weeks yet! x

polkadotdelight · 27/05/2014 11:24

kitkat I'm really sorry that you are finding day to day tasks more difficult but I'm really glad that you poted that. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and starting to find things difficult but was worried that it was just me.

ilovemonstersInc · 27/05/2014 11:38

The main reason for doing my bag so early is ive had a difficult pregnancy and if I have to go in early for any reason and atm my bag has 1 pair of pj's n undies Hmm
Kitkat sorry to hear your struggling Flowers

topmammy · 27/05/2014 11:43

Been to dentist this morn and everything was fine, PHEW!! I have always been a bit scared of the dentist.
Blush

velvet hope you feel better, doesn't sound nice for you at all. Thanks

kitkat I can empathise with the day to day tasks being more difficult. I'm paying for the gardening I did yesterday, my back is really sore and I feel knackered! Also got a bit sunburnt Blush. Usually I would be fine but probably should slow down a bit now. I find it hard to sit just looking at things that need doing though, I like to be busy.

bugoven · 27/05/2014 11:45

You're definitely not alone in finding things difficult. I have good days but a lot of the time I am very tired. I was advised to go to A&E due to palpitations and breathlessness where I was told I am anaemic and have been given Clexane injections to do at home just in case. Baby is happily kicking away and bump is growing faster than ever so not worried about him just wondering if I'll perk up any time soon or if this is it til full term.... sleep, rest, struggle repeat! That said I am very excited and happy just wishing my last weeks of work away!

hey everyone, just checking in, not had chance to catch up on posts yet. Just wanted to mention that if your interested in the babybjorn bouncer, it has been reduced to £86 on amazon and mothercare. The reason being they have brought out a new one which is basically the same, John lewis couldnt find a difference but didn't have stock of the old one!!

I ordered with mothercare and got an extra £10 off as I had a voucher for a £100 spend (mother and baby club) so I just topped up with some basics and got free delivery too. I love that it folds flat oh and the reviews!

Also boots have 3 for 2 on breast pads and maternity pads & nappys and toys. I bought some pads and used my points card so totally free Smile

One thing I have decided on is a BeSafe car seat, I love the magnetic side for straps and the shape of the handle so no hip banging when carried yay! Im leaning towards a uppababy vista in silver and black...

right back to painting urgh.

Topsyloulou · 27/05/2014 13:39

I'm starting to struggle with things too at 24 weeks but was thinking it was down to still having a cough & cold. Got all emotional on Sunday & was tipped over the edge in the supermarket car park when someone wouldn't move to let me out. Got home & burst into tears, never seen dp move so fast off the sofa to check what was wrong. Have been struggling to accept that I can't do everything I normally do & need to take things easy. Wasn't allowed to move off the sofa for the rest of the day & we had a nice quiet day yesterday too, picked some paint for the lounge & kitchen & wrote DP a long list of jobs to do before baby is born.

Had midwife this morning & everything is fine, little monkey started kicking as soon as she starting listening to his heartbeat!

Velvet hope the pain eases up & you manage to get a decent night's sleep.

Teabiscuits · 27/05/2014 14:11

Another one here finding day to day stuff difficult sometimes. I have the odd really good day and will be quite energetic but mostly find it hard to just to the basic everyday stuff like cooking and doing the dishes.

This being number 4 though, I know once baby is here I won't give a damn about the dishes and will be reaching for the phone.to order takeaway!

I won't be packing hospital bag until 36 weeks

ilovemonstersInc · 27/05/2014 16:48

Arggghh arse keeps 'locking' if I move when it happens the paim is horrible. Putting it down to spd. Will probably have to ring self referral line at hosp for physio. Damn. Wanted less appointments not more!

amy246 · 27/05/2014 17:58

Anyone else find the baby kicks quite painful? He's always been very active but recently I feel so bruised and he even makes me shout out in pain! I am glad that he's moving of course and I'd be worried if it stopped. But omg it hurts !

lilone1234 · 27/05/2014 18:23

Thanks for the clothes washing advice donteven. One less thing to randomly wonder about in the middle of the night!

I'm also starting to struggle and get very tired - bending is really quite uncomfortable now.

velvet I think it's more than fine to want to buy some new baby clothes. Am I right in thinking this is your first? I think it's an important thing for you to be able to do too! Saying that, I am also trying to stop buying new things now as I know they grow so quickly and it's better to have practical things to begin with! (Or so I have been told)

Topsyloulou · 27/05/2014 19:37

Amy I had my first painful kicks last night. Think he has one foot stronger than the other as I'd get one painful one that made me shout out followed by a softer one & so in for about 20 minutes!

topmammy · 27/05/2014 19:43

I've only had 2 kicks that I would call painful, although they happened all of a sudden so didn't have time to register pain, they just made me nearly fall off my chair in shock! All my other kicks are quite soft really. (Famous last words...)

I've felt a bit short of breath for nearly an hour now Confused Not pleasant.

Can anyone recommend whether I need to buy any clothes for nursing in? Was having a look on mamas and papas nursing clothes which look nice but don't want to spend money unnecessarily.

amy246 · 27/05/2014 19:52

I've literally got bruises which you can see through my skin! Lol

KatharineClover · 27/05/2014 20:47

topmammy last time I had 1 nursing top. I mainly used layers e.g. a vest top to pull up under a cardi to pull down. It depends on the style though. Wrap over tops or dresses were good too as I could just adjust the wrap and covered up a little as needed with a scarf, pashmina or muslin.
This time I have 2 nursing tops that I've been given, and I've just ordered the mamas and papas nursing/maternity maxi dress which is on sale - I hope it's long enough for me! I also have several loose tops with buttons. :)

xxmissbrightsidexx · 27/05/2014 23:11

Is it going to be cold in September do you think ladies? I've seen a snowsuit I'm in love with on a FB sale page, but dunno if it'll be pointless buying it xx

September 2014 - we're over half way there!
holls2000 · 28/05/2014 07:53

I've got one but only cos it was cheap in nct sale and I decided it was better to be safe than sorry, however it's 0-3 months so best case scenario will do till December and worst case scenario will never get used.
