Went out today to look at prams and car seats. Sat in traffic for 2 hours (should have got there within 45 mins) so turned round and came home. I cried all afternoon about it, how pathetic. Now DH says I have to go on my own to do it 'cos it's ridiculous going at a weekend :-(

Nazly · 24/05/2014 21:14

Question: is it silly to buy a pushchair you don't particularly like the look of it but it seems to be the most practical one for you?

cookielove · 24/05/2014 21:19

Baby scared me today, decided he would not move! !

lilone1234 · 24/05/2014 21:34

holls Traffic won't always be so bad at weekends, it's worse because it's a bank holiday - I would remind your DH of that because it's a nice thing to be able to do together, and a big purchase you should both be happy with I think. I'm sorry your plans didn't work out!

Nazly I don't think it's silly, it's probably very sensible as I think lots of people now choose based on looks and brand name more than anything else!

holls2000 · 24/05/2014 22:10

He couldn't understand why I wanted him to come with me! Going to go to another place on my own on fri and see how that goes!

nazly I think you are right! It has to be practical!

bugoven · 24/05/2014 22:59

I have gone for a basic and practical bargain of a buggy with car seat included.

On other news..... there's a Feb 15 thread! Amazing =)

Topsyloulou · 24/05/2014 23:07

Lilone the staff in my branch of Kiddicare couldn't have been more helpful, showing us how to collapse the pushchair & change between car seat, carry cot etc. they will even let you take it down to your car to check it fits in the boot.

Nazly definitely practicality over looks for me but I've managed to find something practical that looks pretty good too so managed to tick both boxes.

For anyone else struggling with pram choices I found the best buggy website really useful & helped me narrow it down to a top 4 before I went & tried them out in a shop.

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 09:14

Top I went to labour ward tour when I was pregnant with ds1. It scared me loads to hear all the screaming!

Nazly makes sense if its practical

after all that scare with myself and scarlet fever ive bee ok (on 5days worth of antibiotics) dh has been ill for some time so hes been given antibiotics but the youngest (10months) has been particularly ill. Ive had him checked and had a telephone consultation but atm its 'just a virus' his temp keeps going upto 39.9 and is inconsolable. He almost seems confused at times like he doesnt know what to do with himself.

On another note did anyone watch twilight last night Blush ive read all the books before I was pregnant around the time id got married when I was away from dh.

How is everyone? X

cookielove · 25/05/2014 09:19

Baby decided I needed to go to bed and started kicking like crazy! Phew!!

Its sunny yay!!

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 09:23

Glad baby is kicking now cookie x

forgot to say dh let me drive to the retail park yesterday. I stalled 7times wtf! The car I was learning in was dieseland oours is petrol so apparently the biting point is different so need to remember thatat traffic lights! Dhwasnt very helpful. Halfway through he began counting how many times id stalled which made me more nervous. By time we go there I was a wreck and I stopped the car and told him to park it. I then sat and cried. He said he didn't mean to upset me he just wanted me to realise that going on to the main roads bymmyself isnt the best idea yet so he said stick to the side streets and then madr up for it with nandos and Thorntons.

topmammy · 25/05/2014 11:45

I am a bit nervous about what I might hear on the labour ward ilove I must admit! Got to face it sometime though.

Bit worried if I have a uti.... Just need a wee practically all the time. Literally stand up after weeing and feel like I need it again! Blush. No burning feeling though, just feel a heavy feeling low down at the front mostly when I stand up. Could just be baby getting heavier though I guess!

CumbrianExile · 25/05/2014 11:53

ILove I would ignore DH comments and get out on the main roads without him in the car. You don't actually learn to drive til you are out on the roads yourself! And each car is different. At one point both me and my dad had the same year focus, but the biting point was different. You will only get used to it by driving. Smile

Fairypants · 25/05/2014 12:45

Driving and different car is tricky ilove and especially going from diesel to petrol. DH stalls mine (petrol) cos his I'd diesel. He also forgets to turn on headlights and hand break(!) as both are automatic on his- he's been driving for over 20 years. I wouldn't drive with DH in the car for years after I passed as he made me really nervous - you'd probably be better without him adding stress.
I tried (and failed) to do my bikini line yesterday. I can no longer see itBlush
Trying to work out whether I'd prefer to get DH to do it or go to the beautician every few weeks.

RedToothBrush · 25/05/2014 13:17

I pretty much refuse to drive with DH in the car these days. He just undermines my confidence. I love driving generally though.

I've been driving for 18 years - so don't think that its a new driver thing. Its a passenger seat driver thing!

And yeah it takes time to get used to a different car. No matter how much experience you have. Just give it a bit of time and give yourself a break about it all.

cookielove · 25/05/2014 15:13

Hello all, ok so today i saw the baby kick from the outside, how cool is that!!?!

Ilove men in the car can be so frustrating, Dh doesn't drive but is learning at a fucking snail's pace took a three year break from learning, but he wants to drive me to hospital. And he keeps pointing our harzards, and loves pointing it out when i am the hazard Blush idiot

Watching Sleepless in Seattle Grin got nothing to do today, should really clean the flat for a bit, but so can't be arsed!!

topmammy · 25/05/2014 16:15

I've been driving for 8 years and have done a parallel park only once as I had no choice, also never driven on a busy motorway! Dont beat yourself up ilove they do say you don't learn to drive properly till after you've passed your test. :)

Well, been to the labour ward. Was good! Didn't hear any screaming at all despite every ward being pretty much full. All the midwives were busy so a HCA showed us round, except my mum who came with me ended up half taking the tour too even though she was on her day off lol.

The hospital have got this interesting looking thing called a multi trac that I like the idea of using. Anyone else thinking of using one of these? Multitrac birthing system

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 16:35

I dont think he fully realises even though he says he does that im a new driver unlike what was when he passed here. He had been driving for a long time. He said he knows its hard but he wanted to show me rather than tell me about driving and he said its even harder for me as im heavily pregnant. I said im not sitting with him again while driving so I plan on taking the car tomorrow to do a small grocery shop with the dc if they are better (ds2 still very uncomfortable despite having no temp)

cookie ive been going over to mums nearly every day so our place has been very neglected. So washing in, bathroom has been deeped cleaning (well apart from1 part which I will do now) and kids tea is done. Getting a very strong bh as writing this!

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 16:37

Top ive only ever seen that on obem. They look useful but sadly I will be being monitored closely so wont be able to use it

CoolCat2014 · 25/05/2014 17:34

Fairypants - I had the same realisation the other day. Tried to do bikini line but can't see what's what :( might get DH to do it, but pretty nervous TBH!

Topmammy - that looks freaky, but at the same time brilliant!

Picked up a mamas and papas changing unit with draws off ebay yesterday. Bargain for £30. DH has pulled it to bits to clean between every nook and cranny. Can't complain too much! Next step is to order a pram, we are going for uppababy vista, seems like a great system.

Hope everyone is well today!

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 17:44

I got dh to do mine last time fairy and coolcat this time Iwent for the veet cream as dh was scared he wwould cut me as im on the blood thinning Injections anf didn't want to risk it. Much easier tbh apart from the sting it gives and smell

cookielove · 25/05/2014 17:53

Ok, got a question. You know how we are not allowed to sleep on our backs because of baby crushing our organs, when i am sitting slouching on the sofa almost on my back but my head is raised and my a bit of my upper body should i really be sitting up more?

ilove i was good and have done two loads of washing and hoovered a really really dusty spot. Will hoover again a bit later

ilovemonstersInc · 25/05/2014 18:29

Woops I forgot to do the last bit I was going to do Blush

Inbl00m · 25/05/2014 19:14

ilove I totally watched Twilight last night and loved every minute. It's so cheesy but somehow works!?

CoolCat2014 · 25/05/2014 19:26

Cookie - been wondering the same thing!

Baby is soo active this afternoon! Feeling pretty sore now where her feet keep jabbing me!

topmammy · 25/05/2014 19:48

cookie I have heard about the don't sleep on your back thing but I think it's more to do with the heavy uterus pressing on nerves/blood vessels rather than crushing organs. Well I hope so anyway as I often wake up on my back and find it pretty comfy tbh! I think it's more of a problem in late pregnancy for most people.

ilove I watched a bit of twilight last night. I read all the books and loved them but I find the films a bit cheesy Blush I think it's the cheesy romantic music in the background that causes it lol.

Last night I was laid on the sofa and one of my cats walked/jumped on my bump! Baby wiggled loads afterwards, worried me a bit tbh! Silly cat.
