I still haven't weighed myself and wont be most probably. I'm finding it quite liberating not feeling self conscious about my stomach area/podge, it's great! I've got a real sweet tooth at the moment too, you ladies have got me ranching cheesecake now lol Grin

Thanks whiteblossom for the Dorothy Perkins code :)

topmammy · 17/05/2014 17:17

ranching?! I meant fancying Blush

RedToothBrush · 17/05/2014 17:41

I do know where you are coming from, whiteblossom. Trust me.

Its difficult to think rationally when the pressure is constantly about loosing weight after the baby and obsessively focused on all the wrong things. I think people feeling free to rudely comment on your size during pregnancy doesn't help. It does make you feel even more self conscious about it.

I dunno, I just think that now more than ever in your life its about whats right for you rather worrying about everything else. I think everyone is driving themselves crazy worrying about one stupid thing or another as it is!

That said the weight/food one is particularly difficult to get your head round, because of pressure from everyone else.

Ella yes I totally get that! In my last pregnancy DH was making some lunch, and asked what I wanted, I ummd and aaahd over it and vaguely settled for what he was having without any real conviction. 5 mins later I was screaming at him to stop bloody trimming the excess ham off the edge of that bloody sandwich and give it here right now before I'm sick with hunger!

Now I try to grab some fruit or a couple of crackers between meals, seems to stave off that sudden hunger!

I've checked ebay about the silver cross and they have really lot to choose from. I'm just little bit worried about buying pram without seeing it first when it's been used.
Have you had any problems with yours? Have you received it in the same condition as was described? As I live in Highlands, I don't have a chance to collect it or see before buying (no one sells one around), so would have to rely on credibility of the seller.

velvetlilithi · 17/05/2014 20:46

Teabiscuits
I'm exactly the same. I'm hungry but don't want anything when my partner's cooking. He just sits down and I want something straight away. I'm driving him crazy as he hates when I'm hungry and don't eat anyway. He thinks it's laziness, doesn't understand it's just me confused what I want.
Sometimes I suddenly hate all food and wouldn't eat a whole day without him forcing me.

But fruit, biscuits and sometimes sweets helps through the day :)

CumbrianExile · 17/05/2014 22:36

Well said RedToothBrush. I havent weighed myself since before I got pregnant. It is great not feeling self conscious about my weight for once Grin

I am also with all those who don't know what they fancy. My DH keeps asking what I want for tea, and I am never sure. I do seem to have lost interest in meals, but am quite happy picking! Blush

polkadotdelight · 18/05/2014 07:56

Just thought I'd say hello again as it's been ages since I posted.

DH and I spent yesterday working on the garden (him more than me!) and last night when I collapsed in a heap on the sofa was starting to get really worried because I wasn't feeling any movement. Silly me, he was just waiting until I'd gone to bed to have a party in my belly!

I only want cake at the moment and can't be bothered to cook proper food. If DH offers Ive learnt to accept because like others here, ten minutes later Im hungry!

For those of you suffering with hip pain at night, I borrowed a memory foam mattress topper that my mum wasn't using - it hasn't stopped the pain completely but with that and the pillow it has helped quite a lot.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Inbl00m · 18/05/2014 09:55

Thanks for sharing the birth plan info Tea and others, good foor for thought!

Being new to this all I could think about was pain relief (and asking DH to have brie and pate on standby for after the event) when there's obviously a lot more to it than that!

Nazly · 18/05/2014 11:36

Redtooth while I understand and agree with what you are saying about weight, I am now worried and my gp said I can't do anything about what I gained till now; but in future I should stick to healthy snack ; which I am doing even now, just can't stop having occasional chocolate or cheese... I put on 14 kg from before pregnancy, that's nearly two stone and I am 24+5 today; I was a size 10 before but I can hardly wear my previous clothes now; a woman in a shop told me I look big for 5.5 months (after complementing my bump of course) ... So worried for a difficult birth...

Ladies, here is my bump pics at 24+5; too big you think? Oh, the first pic is 5 weeks ago, second is now at nearly 25W

Nazly I dont think your bump is too big or too small. I think its a lovely bump and dont let anyone tell you anything else.

Im 26weeks on Friday and I would say my bump is bigger by a little bit. Dh said how are you going to do your driving test with that bump as it just seemed to have a growth spurt all of a sudden Blush so dont worry too much Flowers
the post about weight worries imo was a bit harsh as everyone worries about different things. Ive put on weight around face bump n bum but it's tough shit atm. Once baby is here and ive recovered will start to try and lose weight. I eat what I want within limits be it fruit, chocolate, juice etc atm im in to fruit due to weather.

Nazly, nothing of mine fits either. You are about the same as me (similar number of weeks too). So if you are huge than so am I. I already have resorted to wearing some of DH's clothes where I can rather than spending money on new ones.

The worst bit was having to buy new pants as my arse has expanded so much and mine were ridiculously tight and uncomfortable, though I think its just my hips - they increased in size by 3 inches before I was 10weeks and I put on any weight at all. This makes me really unhappy, as I suspect that even if I loose all the weight, I'll never fit back into my skinny jeans again.

I won't even go into how much my boobs have expanded. I was a ridiculous size before and well, enough is enough already.

Last night I made the mistake of going for a bath. Getting in and out was difficult as bump got in the way. I don't see how I am going to manage it on my own in just a few weeks time at this rate.

However my biggest problem is that if I get in my car, my bump is already touching the steering wheel. I'm ok in DH's car, but I hate driving it, as its so big. Fortunately, I don't need to drive much at the moment, but its depressing and something I hadn't expected to happen quite so soon. I guess the plus side is it stops me shopping or bumping into people in shops passing comment about my size!

I think if you are short, or petite you are more likely to have a bigger bump to body ratio going on. I still feel ridiculous though.

holls2000 · 18/05/2014 13:42

That's a gorgeous bump. Mine is basically fat, cos it seems to be harbouring a fat baby...!
Today I braved the NCT nearly new sale. Terrified me and I wish I had paid more attention to my mum's lessons on steely glare and sharp elbows....!! Got some bits and bobs - sleep suits and a couple of outfits and muslins and a tummy gym thing for bargain of £35 so was pretty pleased, if slightly traumatised!!!
Hope you are all in lovely sunshine!

CoolCat2014 · 18/05/2014 14:20

Nazly - you've got a lovely bump!

We must have the same due date as I'm 25+5 today, but I don't feel like my bump is very big, and just feel that awkward "is she just fat" stage, but I'm a bigger girl to start off with - 5'10, size 14, with very big bone structure, so I guess I just hide it more, and still not totally over the morning sickness! Started putting weight back on now which is good! I think I've gained 8lbs in the last couple of weeks.
Some people just show more than others, just always figured I'd look huge cos I'm so tall!

topmammy · 18/05/2014 14:51

Lovely bump nazly I'm 26 weeks on Tuesday and my bump is a little bigger than yours so I think you look just right :) but of course everyone is different.

Anyone else feeling really CBA about work? I've got 8 full weeks left to work, which isn't that long really but it is when your mind is wanting to think about other things Hmm

Lovely sunshine today at least Grin

Teabiscuits · 18/05/2014 19:55

hols well done, nct nearly new can be terrifying, great if you don't mind a bit of jostling though! It's worth looking at nearly new sales that aren't nct - our local sure start centre does one every few months. In my experience they have a much more laid back atmosphere, although the rules for sellers aren't so strict so you may well have to sift through a lot of old tat to get to the good stuff.

topmammy I also have 8 weeks to go, it's not long is it, but somehow feels like forever! Im looking forward to tomorrow though, I get to bugger off early for a hosp appointment Smile .

It was bloody warm today! Must go buy a couple of cotton maxi dresses I think, four pregnancies have left my legs looking like a road atlas but it's far too hot for trousers.

KatharineClover · 18/05/2014 20:29

Anyone know where I can buy a tall maternity maxi dress? I'm 5'10 and the 36" long next maternity trousers are great, but looking for a nice long cotton summery dress, bonus if it is breastfeeding friendly for after birth too. I've not seen anything much online so wondered what you ladies might recommend? Thanks x

CoolCat2014 · 18/05/2014 21:17

Katherine - tall maternity wear is hard to come by! I'm 5'10 too, need some long maternity vest tops, can't find any. I've got a non maternity phase 8 maxi dress which is stretchy and perfect for me at the moment. I'd really suggest looking at non maternity wear that is a size up but stretchy. Long tall Sally might be a good place to look as a lot of their stuff is too long for me and so would give the extra length to compensate for bump.

If you find anything let me know! Also need a nighty, but can't find anything I like!

Hi all.

Lovely bump pic nazly, please don't over worry about your weight. I have friends who have gained 1-2 stone and others who have gained 6-7 stone all in one pregnancy. I've gained about a stone and am now 24 weeks.

topmammy I have had a lot of cba moments at work, especially last week when my line manager made some very unfair and personal comments during a "telling off" for resting and attending appointments during working hours. I promptly burst into teats and squinnied at the head teacher reread the maternity rights guide for my local authority as well as the grievance procedure then had a meeting to defend myself, which is something she was refusing to let me do, and put some things in place for the future. I have 8 weeks 3 days to go. 43 days.... I haven't calculated hours yet. Love the kids at school, shame about the adults. Bastards!!

Also here is a recent bump photo along with my craving....green apples =)

I hate my job right now, I told them I was pregnant in February & my boss is just now trying to do something about it, I'm the only employee & he doesn't even live in the uk, we won't be able to use our office while I'm off so he's now asking me to pack up the office & stock in my own & ship it elsewhere, the stock weighs 18kgs per box! He's just got an advert out for a temporary replacement, asking the world from them, I'll have two weeks to train them to do everything & in the meantime have to write a book on how to do my job whilst doing my job at the same time, every day I want to cry I feel so alone & responsible for everything! 9 weeks 4 days before I can leave, I hope I can last that long!

I have a concern about babba, yesterday's scan showed she was frank breech, with her legs up by her head, I've googled it & come up with problems for hip dysplasia, does anyone know anything about it? Is this a normal position? I'm 25 weeks on weds

Xxx

dontevenblink · 19/05/2014 01:01

Hi all, haven't posted for a while as been pretty hectic with my 3 little dc! Hope you're all good, been enjoying trying to catch up with all the news...

So just got back from consultant appointment at the hospital and we've agreed on a second c-section, booked in for 1st September at the moment, so that feels weird knowing a date already! Was a slightly bizarre appointment though, the consultant had just arrived from the UK so said he didn't really know all the procedures here yet, and couldn't find my notes from my last c-section here for ages, so obviously hadn't read them before he saw me Hmm. The consultant I saw last pregnancy was very decisive and told me what she thought was the best decision for me (and turned out she was very right...), whereas this one reminds me of the ones I saw when we lived in the UK who were just very blasé about it all. He was very pleasant, but it took me showing him what the midwife had written about my previous births and in particular the C-section (where dc3's shoulders were stuck in my pelvis) for him to say, oh ok now I know where we stand and a decision was made... DH didn't say much, apart from when I was asked were your two natural births traumatic and DH let out a massive "yes!!!" Grin
At least it is all decided now and I can start the countdown (still all a bit scary though!)

My other bizarre moment was from when the nurse was doing my measurements (weight and height) before I saw the consultant and asked me how much I weighed before pregnancy and I said I didn't know as I don't have scales at home, to which she was Shock. I gave her a vague guess (the midwife here comes to my house so I wasn't weighed at the beginning), then I got on the scales and my weight now would have meant I've only put on a kg, so she said that can't be right and put my guessed weight down by 5kg saying that'll make a better growth chart for the Dr! Is it just me or does that seem like a pretty useless growth chart?!

dontevenblink · 19/05/2014 01:09

velvetlilithi we didn't see our Silver Cross before we bought it as it was a seller from around 100 miles around (DH used to do a lot of work away so picked it up when he was working nearby), and ours was in really good condition. I looked at the seller's ratings and asked for lots of photos before I bought it, also checked things like making sure it was from a smoke free house. A lot of them don't seem to have been used for long periods of time so they seem to be in pretty good condition. I'd just ask lots of questions and get as many photos as you can. Most of our baby stuff has been second hand and we've managed to get some really great things :)
