Mine are green and its my first baby, low risk. Nice idea though lol maybe it just differs by nhs trust.

I think the colour difference is due to different trusts, as I was given mine before they new the risk factors.

It was just me being nosy!

My notes are blue with white paper inside. I was high risk with my DD last year due to an issue with my kidney, and I started off as high risk with this pregnancy then changed to low risk but my notes have stayed the same and it was just updated on my file on their computer so I'm not so sure the colours represent risk.

It's exciting hearing about maternity leave. I have just finished doing a post-grad, I finished last week and won't have anything to go back to now until September next year, but I've got an interview next week to possibly join a committee for a big charity and begin volunteer work for them which I'm really nervous about. If I get it I'll be kept busy until I approach my due date.

HippyJess · 05/05/2014 22:02

My notes are green inside a lilac folder. DSis is in the same county but a different trust and just has the green notes!

You guys, I'm having a total emotional melt down at the moment - I can't believe me and DP are getting married this Saturday! Shock can someone please tell me how hat snuck up on me so quickly?? Getting married while full of pregnancy hormones may have been a bad idea Grin

Mine (and my neighbours) are yellow - we're in the southwest about 35 miles from where they film OBEM so I reckon yellow must be for the West Country area :)

lilone1234 · 05/05/2014 22:20

Deffo think it's just a different trust thing.

Wow hippy go you to be getting married while pregnant - do you happen to be moving as well? If so, that's all the 'life's most stressful things' checked off! I hope you have a wonderful day :-)

ella That is late, and they should have made an effort to get it scheduled earlier but as far as I know I don't think it makes an actual difference, but I really couldn't tell you for sure!

HippyJess · 05/05/2014 22:25

Thanks guys, yes we're all sorted I just can't believe it's actually almost here! Massively over emotional, at least DP's being calm about it all :)

lilone thanks! :) actually we're moving in August! I must be mental Grin

Hippy congrats :) that's exciting... Wish you all the best with the big day and I'm sure you'll enjoy the day when it comes even if you feel super emotional now

My notes are green! I don't think they have to do with our conditions, everybody in my hospital has green notes, i think they may even call it green book there!

I am so undecided on nct classes; reserved one and reservation expires tomorrow, but just noticed it is circa £350 in our area!! Isn't that a lot? I am debating the quality of the buggy we are getting and this sort of money mAkes a big difference; just tempted with classes because all my closest friend who have babies are miles away and I don't really have any local friends with young babies... I know it is very valuable to have friends; but I am also bad in making friends in groups ....

We also have lazy daisy classes nearby; anybody has experience on both or either who can help me make a decision? Lazy daisy seems to be a lot cheaper ?

whiteblossom · 06/05/2014 09:59

morning all, hope you all had good w/ends Smile

Today I noticed something....doing the school run, normally I get a quick hello etc from other mums, NOW that every tom dick and harry knows Im pg, I get a quick hello and a glance down at my belly.

I wear a jacket and scarf so they cant see it but now they know to look for it they do, they just cant help themselves. Im going to find that very annoying!

I want to paint- is that really naughty? I just cant sit looking at jobs that need doing and is holding up work on the house/nursery. If I wear gloves, cover up and open all window and wear a mask, please can I paint???????

When should I have the gluscose test..I think my mw system is terrible, Ive no booked next apt other than consultant at hospital which is totally separate but Im thinking of swapping to their mw care (which I had last time) do you think that's possible?

KitKat1985 · 06/05/2014 10:01

Wow, hippyjess! That's a lot you've got going on there! But you'll have a great day on Saturday, and all the hard work will be worth it. xxx

My notes are green and white. Again, I'm pretty sure that's just the standard colour for all antenatal notes in the Trust because I saw a big pile of blank ones in the midwives office when I went for my booking appointment, and there weren't any other colour variations.

Wow, nazly I have to admit I wouldn't pay £350 for a set of NCT classes. I guess where we are we're pretty lucky is that the midwives do free antenatal classes (4 sessions) so haven't ever really had to think about spending money on them. But if I was paying for them I think about £100 would be my limit. Too many other expenses at the moment. If you predominantly want to make some friends locally with babies maybe join a pregnancy yoga or aquaerobics class or similar, so you can meet some other women who are due in the next few months? Or once baby is born go to a local Mother and baby group or breastfeeding group (if you're thinking about breastfeeding). Got to be cheaper than £350! x

holls2000 · 06/05/2014 10:07

hippyjess HOW EXCITING! Have a wonderful day on Saturday.

My notes are in a purple folder - I think it's done by trust.

I'm doing NCT, mainly because (a) my friends up here don't have babies and it would be nice to know people who do and (b) I can't get to our NHS ones so there wasn't a lot of choice!!!!!

ilovemonstersInc · 06/05/2014 10:10

You can buy some of that safer paint with less smell
I would google it or look bnq website. Can't remember what its called. But with that paint plus windows open and gloves on I would think you'd be ok?

Nazly I wouldn't pay over £10 for a class tbh. I never went to classes didn't really see the point as I had lots of help available from dm and sil. Motherhood is daunting and you learn as you go on and trust your instinct. I was 17 when I fell pregnant with ds1 18 when I had him and at around when he was still a baby around 6ish weeks old he had meningitis. .he was sick from day1.

Wow jess you'll definitely be busy!

Getting lots of kicks. First time ive sat and talked to baby and hes responding by kicking me some more Grin lovely bonding time

KitKat1985 · 06/05/2014 10:20

whiteblossom I think the painting should be fine as long as you open the windows etc. Yesterday me and DH had a row over who didn't do the heavy-duty gardening! I went out to do it (it had gotten massively overgrown with huge weeds and foot long grass where we had neglected it for months), and it was doing my head in as I just wanted to get it sorted. DH hasn't been able to do it as he has badly done his back in, and is spending every day maxed out on painkillers. DH saw what I was doing and told me off for doing it whilst pregnant, and said he'd do it; and I said him doing it at the moment was a stupid idea so I'd do it. After half an hour DH insisted on coming out to 'help' but was in such a strop by this point by our bickering that he didn't pay attention and lawn-mowered over the cable to the lawn mower ripping it to shreds and cutting the electricity supply to the house. We now have a back garden with some short grass and some long grass... Classic. Blush

whiteblossom · 06/05/2014 10:40

OMG KITKAT I assume you had one of those cut off power plugs- he could have killed himself! We are in the same boat, dh has a bad back and has to be very careful, my back is not great and also have to be careful, but now im pg I just cant risk my back going so I wont do anything! DH will but needs my dad to come over and help him.

Like you, I just want it doing, so want to get on with it! Its so frustrating. I suspect he might go a little mad when he sees Ive started painting.....oh well.

Do you have any family that could help with the garden?

hippyjess so sorry I missed your thread where is said your getting married this Saturday- how lovely, have a fantastic day and Ill be thinking of you xxxx

dontevenblink · 06/05/2014 10:57

Good luck for your wedding hippyjess! Hope you have a wonderful day xx

KitKat my DH did the same thing with the hedge trimmer!

So I had my appointment with the physio at my local hospital this morning about my SPD and apparently all my trouble with the back of my pelvis is to do with the fact I have no bottom Blush. Apparently your bottom provides stability and because I am slim without a bottom having a bump completely throws me off balance and therefore my pelvis and back can't cope! She got me to stand in front of the mirror and look at (the lack of) it - J Lo I am not Grin

I've got lots of exercises to do to try and strengthen the muscles in my behind, plus a belt to try and help...

whiteblossom I did lots of painting when I was pregnant with dc3 as we were decorating the house to sell due to us emigrating, so I'm sure you will be fine

StrawberryGashes · 06/05/2014 11:16

hippyjess all the best for Saturday, how exciting!

My cousin done the lazy daisy birthing class and she loved it, she had a much calmer and easier birth with her daughter than with her sons and she says it's thanks to the classes.

RedToothBrush · 06/05/2014 11:18

Have you been told you need to have it? I am booked in for about 28 weeks (which is apparently about the same for both Trusts I'm dealing with). It was booked directly with the hospital. I thought I had escaped needing it, until I double checked my family history.

As for mw care... if you don't ask, you don't know!

ilovemonstersInc · 06/05/2014 11:18

Donteven I have plenty of bum if you need any Grin

KitKat1985 · 06/05/2014 11:21

Yes, thankfully whiteblossom the lawn mower was connected to a circuit breaker at the time so although it tripped all the house electrics, DH didn't get electrocuted, which otherwise would have been a very real possibility! Shock I think we're both a bit frustrated at the moment by our physical limitations, and hence why the whole thing ended up boiling over into an argument, although we did both see the funny side later! My brother has been over to help recently do some work on the nursery that DH couldn't manage, which was great of him but don't want to put on him too much. We are a bit limited on family who can help as DH's family live a bit too far away and my brother is the only one who can really help from my family (my Dad for example has been poorly with cancer for a while and so there's no way I can ask him). Am sure we will muddle through somehow but progress is frustratingly slow and I find it so annoying to keep looking at jobs that I want to get done! So we're very much in the same boat as you and your DH, so can sympathise. Good luck with the painting! x

don'tevenblink - that sounds like the perfect excuse to go out and eat some cake to me! Your bottom needs it! x

dontevenblink · 06/05/2014 11:55

KitKat I think you are right, I will put down eating lots of cake as my first priority tomorrow, never had such a good excuse before Grin

Thanks for the offer ilovemonstersInc Grin

ilovemonstersInc · 06/05/2014 12:06

Dont say I didnt ask. The cake excuse is brilliant too!

The dc have really tested patience today! First thing 1 shits everywhere. Then after eating breakfast he finds more toast in his chair while im changing elder dc who has sn so takes longer. He tries to eat toast and coughsttherefore choking and then he was sick Hmm
Then eldest was sick due to sensory overload. Dh forgot to do my injection so had to do it myself and thats when the crying starts :(

on the plus I did it myself
