Aaagghhh the waiting...baby was leaping around all of last night and so I slept really badly, then have been getting regular and increasingly uncomfy BHs all morning - now getting to the 'ouch, thats really quite sore stage, need to breathe through that' but not lasting very long yet...AND...just had a tiny show...so maybe??? Took DD out to National Trust place this am to get out of house (DH in bed asleep) but getting a bit wary that my waters would break in public and I'd have to drive home somehow so have come home. Had lots of this last time though and it petered out into nothing every time so we'll see, not getting my hopes up yet.
WOuld be bloody typical of course - DH on nights again tonight...

Re Braxton Hicks - no never felt one. Do sometimes think bump tightens up - is that a bh? Feels completely different to a contraction.

Finances - I get paid for 8 weeks then SMP. Hope to have a year off work as have changed the mortgage (hey what's a bit more debt!) and also can do a bit of work from home in the evenings etc. I had a year off with my DD -but then she didn't sleep through the night once until 10 months and I just felt I couldn't cope with work aswell. I found it quite tough going back - actually not so much missing DD as I was able to work part time (3 days a week) but just found it so exhausting with disturbed nights etc.

Some of you ladies are getting really close now - I still feel like I've got so long to go as am not due until 31st!

3k · 01/10/2006 16:58

Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to post good luck wishes to you all, especially pmoore my friend who I recommended to you all!!! (she makes me broody but she knows that ) I had my first baby in Feb, cant believe there is an October thread and you are all due now!!!! Time goes so fast so enjoy every push and every moment!!!!

Right enough of that, got a pooey baby to change!!

nicand2 · 01/10/2006 18:03

Just what I need DS has just fallen backwards off a chair and bumped his head, I think I may nip him down to casualty as he has a small scratch and he landed on a wooden floor.

I feel exhausted today

catgirl · 01/10/2006 18:05

I feel like I have ages too - also due 31st, but they come out when they come out.

Am lucky to have some savings so am planning on going back to work next June - date depends on when this one arrives I think! Mat pay is better than last time - but it was lousy last time! I will be going back full time, but have great childcare sorted, and work is about 30 mins walking and bus, and about 10/15 mins in a cab. I also accrue holidays this time, which I didn't last time, so am officially on holiday for the next 8 days, then mat leave starts, so that gives some slack too.

Re movements - they are certainly more restricted and agree it is when I sit down and rest I tend to notice them.

Had my pedicure and manicure yesterday - for the first time I feel I have beautiful feet! Driven dh and ds mad getting them to admire them. Lady doing pedicure said I do have fluid retention, which I didn't think I had, but have taken her words to heart and am putting my feet up on a cushion often to drain them!

Also had an awful nights sleep last night, been having weird/vivid dreams for a while now - keeps everyone entertained though!

To those meeting up on Tuesday - looking forward to it - hope my nails last until then - I want to make the most of feeling 'polished' as I know it won't last. Although that is xmas present for me sorted - vouchers for the beauty salon!

catgirl · 01/10/2006 18:05

nicand2 - hope your ds is OK.

nicand2 · 01/10/2006 18:51

I have calmed down a bit more now and decided to keep an eye on him as he is happily playing and has also wolfed down his tea.

I'm sure toddlers are always falling and banging their heads, it's just a combination of pg hormones and tiredness that make me panic so much.

I think I will wake him up halfway through the night, I think that's the advice I've been given before.

Tigerlion · 01/10/2006 19:16

Hope you are all well and bearing up. Should we start a new thread now that we are in October? If so, has anyone got a brain that has not turned to mush that can think of something witty to call it?

youngmum21 · 01/10/2006 19:57

Hi everyone,

I havent been on for a while hope everyone is doing ok!!!
Im glad im not the only one who seems fed up and cant wait for their baby to arrive my lo is due on the 29th and that still seems like foreva even though i know she cud come early or mabe even late(i hope not)!!!

jmc- Im sorry about ur fil not really wot you need rite now i hope you are bearing up XX

youngmum21 · 01/10/2006 19:58

tigerlion- what about the final countdown for the new name just a thought!!! x

girlygale1 · 01/10/2006 20:12

I'm no good at thinking of inventive names - sorry! All I do know is that we are due to have our babies this month!!!!

Mind you - I'm not due until 23rd (ish) so theoretically I could be having mine next month ... thats pants.

Really p'd off with dh tonight - all to do with his ex and his inability to say no ... even if it interferes with his new family. Car was meant to be fixed today , but auto glass messed up and said we'd have to wait until tommorrow - so I will have to take dd to playschool with a window blacked out by a bin liner ... nice and safe!

I've just eaten far too much and can hardly move now!!!!!

Been having horrid dreams - last night it was about my mum ending up in hosp - and missing the birth, although I did manage to get wheeled to her ward and introduce her to her new grandchild.!

Very wierd.

BENDYB · 01/10/2006 20:39

hi every1, hope ur ok, went 2 c the delivery suite 2day, it was quite scary! Done my birth plan aswell, but it doesn't seem very detailed, the midwife has just written bout 4 lines in 1 of the sections of my notes, I thought she'd write a big long page! What is every1 elses like? I'm thinking of just writing it out myself & keeping it with my notes, is that what other people have done? Sorry if i sound stupid but i just assumed she'd write it all out or something???
'the final countdown' sounds like a good name!

Bronze · 01/10/2006 20:57

hi bendyb,

I have not done my birth plan yet but have got mw on tues so we shud be doing it then i thought they wud have alot in them too but i guess it depends on wot type of birth you want and it prob best it short cuz we cant plan the whole thing b4 it happens can we???

BENDYB · 01/10/2006 21:33

hi youngmum, how are things with u? This month we should b having r babies! But 4 us its likely 2 b next month isn't it!!!
yeah get what u mean bout birth plan, but didn't think it'd b that short! Its only like 3 or 4 lines! Thought it'd b bout a page long! I think i will just do another 1 myself but not really sure how 2 word it, i no what i wanna say but its hard 2 write it down properly, do u no what i mean? I supose i should've gone through it more with the midwife, as that is what she there 4, but to be honest she not very helpfull, she doesn't really explain things properly, she just expects u 2 no! & 2day she really seemed 2 b rushing me out the door aswell! cheek!

If any1 else can give me an idea of what 2 write i'd be really gratefull! xxx

luboo · 01/10/2006 21:34

Hi!
Is anyone else totally over-emotional? I have been a total nightmare for the last couple of days (baby due on 14th) I don't know what's wrong with me but it's driving DH mad! Please tell me it's normal and I'm not losing it at the final hurdle...

emzickle · 01/10/2006 22:02

I haven't really done a birth plan yet either, what can I really plan for? In an ideal world, it just wouldnt hurt and everyone will be safe and happy,

Is any one elkse fed up of being MASSIVE now...

Im due in 10 days. Cripes.

youngmum21 · 01/10/2006 22:22

bendyb- Im ok thanx had enough now but sill 4 weeks to go and please dont say thing like that think ill go crazy if this lo is late it my birthday 5 day b4 my little one due so ill be to nervous to even enjoy myslf or go anywhere and im so hoping she doesnt showo on that day!!!

Sorry for long post!!!

agrimum · 02/10/2006 05:52

Lack of movement was starting to worry me to. But it seems to have got a second wind in the last couple of days - maybe the rest did it good?!

Does anybody have really achey feet. My feet are swollen, DH is being lovely and reminding me to keep my feet up, and not worry about housework! But the soles of my feet are making me want to rip them off. Feel like I have walked from Lands End to John O Groats and back again.

Thank goodness for insomnia, having been awake since 4.30am it has given me a chance to catch up on the news! Thank goodness this is my first, can't imagine having to be pg and already having LO to look after. How do you heroines manage it??

Gingeme · 02/10/2006 07:59

Good morning ladies. Had a realy nice weekend with my ds's. Went swimming Saturday. Well not strictly true I sat in the baby pool wgile dh looked after ds3 and the bigger ds's swam in the big pool. Went to my friends yesterday who also has 4 kids. They had a great time. My ds3 has a stinking cold today. A nice crusty nose greeted me this morning. Wonder what theyll say at nursery.
I feel massive today. Cant believe Ive still got 4 weeks to go. My feet arent aching but seem to be getting fatter by the day realy am restricted to one pair of sandals now. Just hope the weather holds up a bit longer.
Well better see if this little man can be bothered with some breakfast. Catch you ladies later. xxxx

nicand2 · 02/10/2006 10:16

Luboo - Yes also feeling very emotional most of the time. It all gets a bit over whelming doesn't it!!

Re birth plans - I am going to include that if possible I would like the baby to come to me as soon as possible and to stay there for a while. I have been reading about this 'golden hour' where the baby is left with you for that first hour. I read that the mw can quickly see if all is ok and the other checks can wait. It apparantly has all sorts of benefits for the baby.

I remember with DS that I only held him for a few mins and then he was washed, dressed and handed to DH. TBH I think it was because I was a bit out of it after pushing for nearly 3 hrs and I had torn quite badly so I didn't think anything of it at the time but now I feel I missed out a bit.

Rumpel · 02/10/2006 10:52

Morning everyone hope we are all well today and enjoying the cool weather at last.
My parents arrived yesterday so I am feeling ready to go now! (scared though!) I had achy pains in my lower abdomen all last night - not sure if body is gearing up or if it was the greasy fish supper I had for dinner!
Defo feel like my body is getting prepared though.
Am officially due in 4 days!

EMOTIONS - feel very weepy at the mo' as well. Haven't been too emotional throughout, however, as nearing the end am feeling a tad pathetic, must be the hormones changing - again.

Bronze - good grief that was very early to deliver - glad your LO is doing well. What did you have? Congrats!

Baby movements - I am sure I am about to birth a toddler as I am so FULL of baby and baby moves loads. I can feel a shoulder just above the left side of my pubis, the feet tucked under my right boob, the bum likes to sit on the right hand side and every so often swing over to the left, which is very peculiar, and if the head gets any lower it'll be hanging out!!

Have a nice day ladies - I've decided to cook and bake all day to fill the freezer in preparation for the forthcoming event!
