hana · 15/09/2006 21:56

just wanted to let you ladies know that I had my baby!!

I had spent 3 weeks in the hosptial over the past month with placental abruption and it was decided that I would be induced at 36 weeks ( Monday) It took a while, but our little girl was finally born yesterday morning. She is perfect - we came home this morning. And for being early, she weighed it at 6lbs 8 oz, so a v good size! Her sisters are enchanted with her and we can't believe we have another little girl in the house....

Good luck when your turns roll around, won't be long for the next one I'm sure!!
hana
xx

Just come back from spending 24 hours in hopsital with DS who had to have an emergency operation last night as they thought that he was going to need a testicle removed. I noticed he had very swollen bits at a nappy change and luckily took him straight to A & E which was a good job as they had to operate sooner rather than later. Fortunately nothing was wrong and they were able to put the testicle back in place. It was scary having to sign loads of consent forms for a 13 month old and terrifying to not be with him when he was having his hour long operation. I could have slapped the anaesthetist who when I asked her if there were any risks involved said very matter of factly that there were as many risks involved as crossing a street with traffic. I had to stay in a tiny bed with DS overnight and spent most of the night awake. It was the hospital where I am having birth and it was very strange to think that next time I would be there would oprobably be for baby's birthday.

Anyway, after a very emotional 24 hours, I think I am going to sleep very well tonight. All I can say is we realised just how lucky we were that all was okay. Some poor children had been living in the children's ward over a year with all sorts of complications.

After packing 3 separate hospital bags last time, I have only one small bag this time as I used hardly any of what i took along. The main bulk of it this time is maternity pads!!!

Got a craving for jelly babies at the moment and seems as though I am not the only one as most of the supermarkets/ newsagents nearby have run out of them. Oh well...

hana · 15/09/2006 22:50

tigerlion - what a stressful time, hope your little ds is recovering well.

mat pads - I am getting through them like crazy!! Doubling up has helped.....

Gingeme · 15/09/2006 22:59

Oh wow how lovely hana Congratulations to you all xxx
Oh Tigerlion how scary. Hope your little one wasnt too traumertised. I get so scared about stuff like that havin 3 boys( soon to be 4) My friends boy had a twisted testicle and he was in agony. Had it sorted quickly now.
Im off to bed now to try to catch up on what little slip I had last night.

whiffy · 16/09/2006 00:21

Well doen Hana . Enjoy the sleepless nights and don't worry if the baby blues kick in in the next day or two....

Tigerlion - you must be shattered with all the worry - last thing you need right now. Same for Saka - I'm sure they're just being cautious.

2 days to go to D-Day. Went to Hospital today for pre-screening and found out I am scheduled for 9.30 Monday morning. And you know what? It STILL hasn't sunk in. Will no doubt hit me like a ton of bricks when she turns up. Was disgusted with state of hospital though - came home and had a shower straight away. Am booking up a transfer to the local midwife unit and scheduling it to take place the minute they remove the catheter...much nicer place with en-suite single rooms and lashings of cocoa. Not quite sure how to get there mind, it's a half-hr drive. Might have to book private ambulance transfer. Times like this it would be good to live in a city where everything is closer. I could just see me on the tube in one of those nice backless hospital gown numbers and DH carrying baby and doing that "she's not with me" whistling/reading the adverts thing....

Justers · 16/09/2006 06:51

Congratulations hana fantastic news. What a great weight for being early, hope you are feeling ok it must of been a very stressful time over the last few weeks.
Tigerlion i hope your ds is recovery well from his ordeal, poor thing. Some doctors defintely need to brush up on their bedside manner, what a stupid thing to say.
Been up since 4am, can't sleep due to pelvic pain-the joys of being pregnant!!

Tigerlion · 16/09/2006 07:58

hana, that is such good news. I must have been writing my message for so long that I had not seen yours.

CONGRATULATIONS! How did it all go. If not done already (not that you probably have loads of time on your hands at the moment!), you and Kat ought to start a postnatal stats thread.

Hope you are coping with the first few days with your DD. Have you got a name for her yet?

sallyrosie · 16/09/2006 09:24

Congratulations Hana!! What a good weight for 36 weeks.

Tigerlion - my dd was seriously ill and had two operations at 15 months. All very traumatic at the time but she can't remember a thing about it now. Well done for spotting it so quickly.

Good luck for Monday whiffy.

majormoo · 16/09/2006 11:22

congratulations Hana. What a great size at 36 weeks!! No name yet then? Take care.

Whiffy-good luck for Monday. First three babies out are all girlies (well assuming no more arrive before Wiffy's daughter!)

Tigerlion-how scary. thank goodness all is OK. Try to have a relaxing weekend.

jmcmugwump · 16/09/2006 11:58

Congratulations Hana, so glad you are both doing well

tigerlion, I hope your DS is doing OK now - I might have had to slap the anaethatist - I know these people do the same thhing every day but they really should know how traumatic it is for the patients and patients relatives.

Was up at 3.30 thim am - OH is determined to get the last few nights out before LO puts in an appearance, but comes in at 3.30 complaining he doesn't feel well, waits until he has talked to me enough to make sure I am well and truly awake, then goes to sleep and starts with his funny breathing - so tempted to smother him with a pillow - have resolved to make sure he is woken up every time I have to feed LO when it arrives inconsiderate git....

Seona1973 · 16/09/2006 13:26

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl, Hana

We're just back from our weekly trip to the swimming pool - dh takes dd in the small pool while I have a swim (managed 14 lengths today) and then I let him have a go while I look after dd. We then spoil all the good work by having crisps and a slush puppy in the cafe afterwards (well dd has the slush puppy - we have coffee/can of juice!!)

Cant believe I have just over 3 weeks to go - still not sure how I will cope with 2. DD knows all about the baby and is apparently going to share her toys with him - will believe it when I see it though.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and good luck for Monday Whiffy.

sallyrosie · 16/09/2006 17:58

I realised today that although I am desperate for LO to actually arrive and not be fat, uncomfortable and unable to move very much anymore I will actually miss being PG.

Firstly I'll miss my bump. Its very handy for propping things up on - like resting your coffee cup on, or as I did in the car this morning half the biscuit you're eating. Perhaps someone could design a bra with a shelf in to serve a similar purpose?

Another thing I'll miss about being PG is how lovely my hair and skin are - all thick glossy hair and smooth blemish free skin. Haven't had to wear foundation since 20 weeks as no need. Will go back to usual slightly spotty thin haired self when all the hormones disappear.

And that lovely (yet irritating) feeling when you're lying awake at night with DH fast asleep and its just you and the baby wriggling inside.

What will you miss about being PG?

girlygale1 · 16/09/2006 20:30

Hana - congratulations, dead chuffed for you!!!!!

Good luck for Monday Whiffy.

Tigerl - sorry to hear it has been awful time with your ds, thank goodness he is home and well now,

Sallyrose ... NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to get baby out!! (mind you skin is clear from spots at the moment!)

Didn't get the chance to ask Robbie to be godfather - so stuck in my little 'shed' with dd, step son and new baby.!!!

If anyone is interested in him or like his music - he was awesome and totally worth going to see. Pelvis gave way at end so had dh and sister holding me as we walked, for what felt like an eternity, to the car - had some very strange looks, mainly people thinking i was in labour!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

emzickle · 16/09/2006 21:30

Congratulations Hana!

HAd a miserable night last night. Got a fever, had my DP on phone to labour ward whislt I was asleep, as he was worried about me (bless)... only to have him shake me awake to ask if I was losing any liquid, vaginaly, was I constipated, or bleeding... bless, would have much preffered talking to the MW myself. Never Mind he had good intentions.

Pregnancy really does bring you closer together doesnt it?

Hope everyone is ok, doesnt sound like many people are having relaxing times though!

sallyrosie · 17/09/2006 06:47

Wondered if anyone else had seen Saka's thread on childbirth forum? Scary.
If you're around Saka, I hope its all been sorted out.
Thinking of you.

wuzzlefraggle · 17/09/2006 10:34

congratulations hana!!!!

tigerlion - must have been a very scary thing to go through!im glad that alls ok now tho

well, me, dh and sister in law are off to ikea today lol. got a midwife appointment tomorrow too.

hope that everyone has had a good weekend
oh, and whoever it was that said about the sunshine buggering off, im with them 100%...ive had enough of the sun too

xox

Gingeme · 17/09/2006 12:26

Good afternoon ladies. Had a great weekend with my boys. Went to a community fete yesterday which was great cause most of it was free! My little ds even had his face painted as a tiger. He looked so cute but had to fight with him to wash it off in his bath last night. Theyve enjoyed catching up with their friends too.
Think baby can hear his bigger brothers too. Hes been wriggling loads while theyre talking to me.
Going for Sunday roast at a pub soon then taking them back about 3.
Phew Im exhausted today but its been good.
Good luck tomm whiffy. Lots of best wishes to you. Let us know as soon as its here. xxxxxx

DogMum · 17/09/2006 16:24

Saka and NNNM, I hope your consultant appts go well.

Congratulations Hana. Glad all is well with you and your LO.

Tigerlion, I hope your ds is feeling better soon. Great that you took him in immediately and all is well. Such a worrying time, even without pregnancy hormones. It makes me realise how trivial my day to day concerns are.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, Whiffy.

Sallyrosie, I'll miss having an excuse for going out with a sticky-out belly and being able to hold my baby and have my hands-free at the same time.

marthahm · 17/09/2006 18:25

hello all
not managing to remember much of what i've read now that my brain has turned to mush.
good luck tomorrow whiffy i'll be thinking of you.
well done hana.
lucky you noticed the problem so quickly tigerlion, my uncle lost one like that because his parents weren't so vigillant and it took years before any realised there was a problem.
we went to the nct class yesterday and dh almost feinted during the c-section video-seriously, he slid down the wall and had to put his head down-went v green-slight worry there in case we have to have emergency c-sec. think might not get much support! apart from that he was fantastic and it was a really useful day. i feel really huge and uncomfortable now, spend the whole time cancelling things that we planned or dreading having to do them if we can't get out of them. have 10 people for dinner tomorrow for book group including 2 vegetarians who need diff food.
most irritating of all, after 2 months our cotbed arrived but has been delivered without the side piece so completely useless. they better shift their butts now with only 3 weeks to go.
hope the consultant goes ok saka.

marthahm · 17/09/2006 19:43

guys, saka is in labour at the hospital after contractions all weekend. as whiffy said she's had a bit of a shocker with child care etc. there's a long thread on the childbirth site -the first one at the top.
one of the mnetters is in contact with her and apparently they think the dates were wrong as the baby looks like an 8 pounder on the scan!
hope she's doing ok.
