Yes I am also so fed up with being pregnant - and there's 6 weeks left to go! Does anyone offer any of you girls a seat on the train? I had to stand twice this week and what really made me mad was when 2 people got off at a stop halfway there and other people jumped into their seats before I could get there.
Would be nice for baby to come early but am not holding my breath. I feel guilty about how much CBeebies DD is wathing at the moment-but it means I get to sit on the sofa for a bit! And what am I going to be like when baby comes? She sings the Balamorey theme tune to herself in bed at night!
jmcmugwump- yes I'm afraid DD did feed every 2 hours for 3 months, but all babies are different and some go 3 hours and will sleep for longer periods at night after a few weeks - at least that's what I'm hoping for this time! But at least if it's your first you can sleep in the day when baby naps.

sandybee1 · 14/09/2006 23:39

hello everyone - i'm a newbie...been meaning to post for ages but never seem to have the time! I'm due my 2nd on 22nd October. Already have 1 Ds who is 2.4.
So reassuring to hear that i am not the only one desperate for this baby to come!! I have had crippling heartburn since 4 months and am just living on gaviscon!
I'm going on Maternity leave in 2 weeks so i will hopefully have more time to post then!!

Gingeme · 15/09/2006 08:01

Good morning ladies. This is the earliest Ive posted on here. Ds has decided 6.40 is a good time to get up now. Has done for the past couple of mornings. Im gonna be asleep by 2pm!
Anyway re bags. Yes you keep them with you the whole time usualy in the labour room. But you dont need to worry about them the mw or your dp will help to take them to the room. Last time I took a small suit case with wheels on it. Was easy to pull around then.Agrimum do you live close to your hospital? You could take your main bag in and put a sleep suit and vest in for baby then get someone to pick the other bits up after baby arrives. Just a suggestion.
Welcome sandybee glad you joined us eventualy. Hows your ds reacting to your expanding tummy? Does he know whos in there or is he in denial like my ds 2.5 and says 'dinner' or 'train' when asked whos in Mumys tummy
Are you feeling any better today nicand2? Never had nausea as a sign of labour starting but have had it towards the end with every baby and midwife then smiles at you and says'thats a good sign'. A bit of the runs could be a sign though as its natures way of emptying your body. Unless youve had a curry then just put it down to that. Anyway time for some breakfast as Im starving. Have a good day all xx

MoreSpamThanGlam · 15/09/2006 09:32

Morning!
I had my meeting with registrar yesterday, and it looks as if they will not let me labour in water to aid my SPD as there is a chance of a uterine rupture (less than 1%) so it looks like I am having a homebirth. Only 2 weeks left and I am nervous as all hell.

sallyrosie · 15/09/2006 09:41

Popsi: glad I'm not the only one watching a lot of CBeebies! Was starting to feel like a terrible mum, but keep telling myself that its vaguely educational...she sings the tikkabilla theme tune though!

Gingeme: Interesting that your son isn't 'into' the whole pregnancy thing. Perhaps its a boy/girl thing? My DD (same age) is totally obsessed with it, keeps asking when will baby be born and kissing my bump etc but then she loves her dollies at the minute and I think she may be slightly disappointed to find that babies don't really do much other than cry and eat and sleep!

Re labour bags - yeah, you keep it with you. TBH I hardly unpacked mine during labour last time - took loads of stuff that I didn't need/want. What about getting DH to take a separate rucksack with stuff just for labour that he can then take home afterwards?

Anyway, off to the shops with DD. Got a good nights sleep last night so lots of energy to buy some last minute essentials. Don't actually need anything but sure I'll find something I've forgotten...

sallyrosie · 15/09/2006 09:43

MSTG: I don't understand? Are you saying that you'll be able to labour in water if at home? Or that they won't let you full stop whether at home or hospital? Or that you could labour in water if you were in hospital?
Sounds very complicated...

MoreSpamThanGlam · 15/09/2006 10:42

What they have said is that i cannot labour in their birth pool at the hospital because i had a CS 8 years ago and the chance of the scar tearing in the water is a risk. However, the risk is LESS than 1%, even less if I am not induced (which I will never ever do again), as there are higher rates of CS after induction. as my scar is over 2 years old there are even less risks, but they dont want to be sued. they also want to use Continuous Electronic Fetel Monitoring, which means laying flat on your back for ages whilst they monitor you, which means you cannot move around and more pain and slows delivery and, you guessed it more chance of CS.

So - even though I am not your earth mother type, more lip gloss and margaritas, I have just ordered my Birth Pool in A Box, and plan to labour at home and probably deliver at home. which means i get my own midwife to come out and stay with me and I get to move about and I get all my home comforts. I live 3 streets from the hospital, so if I need to transfer in, it can be done really quickly.

Feel like I have forced into it, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me really. Women have been having babies without intervention for thousands of years, and its my body and my baby. They have messed up so many things in this pregnancy that to be honest, i feel more in tune than they could ever be.

nicand2 · 15/09/2006 11:34

Morning, feeling better now, boringly normal so i've had to go to sainsurys as usual.

Re hospital bags I've got 2 1 for me and 1 with baby stuff in. I have cut down a lot from last time as I didn't use half the stuff i'd packed and it was a major chore to unpack it afterwards. For instance the book to read, don't know when i thought i was going to relax with a book!! magazines were useful though as my attention span was about 30 seconds.

Thank god for cbeebies here as well, dread to think what the electricity bill will be but ds is having a whale of a time.

nowanearlyNicemum · 15/09/2006 11:41

have been feeling pretty dizzy and sick on and off too nicand2. glad to hear you're feeling better today - I had to hit the supermarket this morning too... such a joy with dd in tow!

am feeling quite in awe as the question I asked yesterday regarding having a vaginal birth after c-section is on the home page!! obviously a topic that a lot of people can relate to. thank god for Mumsnet, some of the advice on here is really inspiring.

re hospital bags, I have one for me, one for baby and a very small one (oversized handbag) for labour. last time I had dd in a clinic so they provided loads of things but this time round I have to take everything in so feel like I'm taking too much stuff but not sure what I could cut out.

good for you, MSTG. hope you get the birth you want. why is it always such a battle to do what is supposed to come naturally to us????

DogMum · 15/09/2006 12:31

bendyb - help! I've only got five weeks to go and haven't packed my bags yet. Unless you admit to something disorganised or mush-brained soon, we might have to ban you!

nicand2 - how exciting. Fingers crossed.

Agrimum, I was thinking of taking 3 bags as well. Just to keep it simple for DP, as he'll be getting things out for me during the birth. (Might get all the stuff ready and get him to pack it so he knows what's where.) Then I can leave the overnight bag in the car and he can go and get it if I need to stay in. I'm really hopeng to go home after six hours.

Awesome being a home page feature, nowanearly. Does this mean we have to pay to talk to you?

Excellent that you're getting the birth you want MSTG. And thanks for the tips on avoiding c-section. I'll definitely try and avoid being induced.

Is anyone else swearing alot? I don't know whether it's just hormones or thinking that I'm not going to be able to swear at home for the next 18 years, so I'm getting it out of my system now. DP doesn't even like it if I swear in front of the dog, but he hasn't repeated any of it yet so I think I've got away with it.

emzickle · 15/09/2006 12:41

Hey Ladies

Had a MW appointment this morning, so depressing, the baby isnt engaged at all... I was kinda hoping it would all kick off soon. Even my maternity clothes are now getting a little tight to wear. I feel so huge and I'm def nesting. I just want my baby!!!

nowanearlyNicemum · 15/09/2006 12:42

There's no way going home after 6 hours would be an option over here DogMum. Fingers crossed that all goes well and you get home as soon as possible. Cuts down on the packing too
And yes, you will have to pay to talk to me now - it might help to pay my bail after the GBH I'm likely to cause my consultant next week if she doesn't sit up and listen to me.

Zen, Zen, Zen, think happy thoughts NNNM....

I just had a call from the breast clinic. They want me to see a consultant and go in for an untrasound of my breast, next thurs.

Im a bit worried, Im sure it is nothing, but good I suppose for the consultant to check it out first.

dogmum - I have completely lost it these past few days. We are going to see Robbie Williams this afternoon/evening with my sister and her bloke, then she tells me that she has got a ticket for her friend who is ALWAYS at her house whenever I go, always coming along to things that we do, basically is always there and clings on to everything ... so I completely flipped last night. f*ing and blinding - stating that now it is ruined and how can we enjoy ourselves with her there blah blah blah - then I cursed myself as I am a christian and not meant to swear - let alone think the awful things I thought and said about her. i should be more accommodating and loving and welcoming - the poor girl has no-one and needs company. Anyway - I have calmed down significantly, but would be lying if I'm not still a little annoyed!

Hormones AARRRGGGHHH!!! And not only that - we've got the completely screwed up horemones of 'after delivery' to look forward too. (I seem to remember crying hysterically and swearing at the loo roll holder a week after dd was born!!!!! ) (yeh I know ... not normal!!!!)

Anyway - am taking my bag with me in case I go into labour in Milton Keynes - and if I get the chance will ask Robbie to be godfather to the baby - then he might buy me a nice 4 bed detached house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets hope he sings my favourite - otherwise I really will be miffed!!!

girlygale1 · 15/09/2006 13:25

sorry, not sure how I managed to post twice.

Saka - good luck xxx

Swizzler · 15/09/2006 14:05

Saka: hoope it all goes well. They're probably just being careful.

Yup, pretty grumpy here as well. DH must think I hate him - I just don't have the energy to talk when I get back from work. Three and a bit days to go...

Trying not to pack too much, as aiming for speedy return home. Also, we were warned by the mw that things do get nicked (we are living in Hackney after all).

NNNM: sending good vibes for your consultant's appointment. I hope we all get the birth options we want, even if plans have to be changed along the way.

I'm wavering between wanting the baby and not being able to picture having one to look after - what do you DO with them? Suppose I'll find out pretty quickly

jmcmugwump · 15/09/2006 14:16

Thanks for the advice about feeding, maybe it would be best just to permanently attach lo to boob and carry it around for 3 months - this meand I still won't have my body back, never mind - too late to change my mind now!!

Saka - hope the consultant thing goes OK - at least you are now getting some proper AN care!

I think the LO much have moved down a bit as am now peeing for England, and have nightmare back ache - lets hope it's not long to go now.

Still can't get the picture of LO permanently attached to my nipple out of my head - best go and do some work i'm sure that will sort it!

MoreSpamThanGlam · 15/09/2006 14:21

NNNM - i take it you are a potential VBACer too? Whats the deal with your consultant - why have you got a fight on your hands?

I have ordered my Birth Pool In A Box today and it looks like I am having a homebirth. Bet the MW says that there are not enough staff on...hmmm. Then what to do eh?

Saka - Fingers crossed honey.

I dont mean to complain but for goodness sake sunshine - give it up - I feel like I have been roasting for months.

Anyone else doing the home/water/vbac thing - or just me being difficult?

I have 2 bags packed, one for me and one for baby.

sallyrosie · 15/09/2006 14:44

MSTG - good luck. Can kind of sympathise with the hospital - they're only following the national guidelines and although low risk of it happening it would be horrendous if it did, but can totally see where you're coming from too and hope all goes well for you (and that water labour/birth does help your SPD pain).
For anyone concerned about CEFM I had it for my dd - tbh I found it reassuring being able to see my babies heart rate ticking along and I was able to move around a bit, certainly wasn't flat on my back with legs in stirrups - I gave birth kind of sitting on the edge of the bed which the MW broke in two.
I know that they monitor you with a doppler in a pool - but what do they do when the baby is low down? They had to use a scalp electrode to pick up the HR in second stage for me and I presume they can't use them underwater?

sallyrosie · 15/09/2006 15:01

p.s Might it be worth speaking to the consultant rather than the registrar about it? If you're fully aware of all the risks then you'd have thought they'd prefer you to at the very least be in the hospital than at home? I suppose may not be up to them mind...'hospital policy' etc...and I'm guessing that you don't really feel like fighting any more?

Saka - are they just checking to see that it hasn't refilled? Good luck.

clon · 15/09/2006 15:51

Oooh it's all getting a bit birth focussed now, I've been successfully ignoring it up until now!

My last day at work and I have just finished all there is to do, I would cartwheel around the office if I knew I wouldn't damage myself let alone baby!

I guess from next week I can start to really think about what's next - yikes.

Saka - good luck hope all goes well, at least you are seeing someone about it so no harm in having a check up.

sandybee1 · 15/09/2006 16:14

Thanks MoreSpamThanGlam, sorry haven't been able to reply until now. My DS seems ok with my big bump. I've told him that when the baby comes he will get a present and he said "baby buy me a big car!!!" so now everyday he says "baby come out and buy me car" to my bump! It's hard to know how they will react so i'm just hoping the bribery of the car will keep him happy!

I haven't even thought about packing my bag yet -think i'd better do it this weekend. I keep thinking when i finish work i wil get everything organised but then i panic and think i'm working until 37 weeks so i might not have any time!! Yikes!!!

Saka - i've beenreading your posts and i rally hope that thigs are ok with you. Must get back to work now!!! Byeee!!!

majormoo · 15/09/2006 18:04

hope all goes OK Saka
Nowanearly-how exciting that you have had your show. Hope things go well for you in trying for your VBAC.
MSTG-good luck with plans for the homebirth.
jmcmugwum-the constant feeding drove me bonkers last time. DD was born in the middle of the 2003 heatwave so am hoping she was just very thirsty when she drank all the time and it will be different with a winter babe.
Whiffy-only a few days to go. How are you feeling?

Am today feeling a bit relieved to be having a boy-am hoping they are less complicated! DD is only just 3-she was playing with a friend today, who wouldn't share a toy, but we told her she had to. As I walked away I heard her say to my DD 'I'm not your friend anymore'-queue lots of tears from DD. Earlier in the morning, she was playing with other friends, who briefly wouldn't let her join in their game, which escalated into a tantrum from one of the little girls. Both little girls said sorry and gave DD a hug after the incidents, but I felt so bad for her. Must be the hormones. Was hoping this stuff didn't start til they went to school!!! Am hoping these social intricacies start later (if at all!!!) with boys

BENDYB · 15/09/2006 19:07

lol dogmum! I'm only organised coz i'm convinced this baby gonna b early! Not sure y, just got a feelin! We'll have 2 wait & c if i'm right! My hormones r all over the place tho! Been screamin at dp 1 min & laughin at him the next! poor thing, he doesn't understand it at all!! I've also been really forgetfull!

Thanks 4 every1s advice bout the bags! Think I'm just gonna stick 2 my suitcase, seems easier, prob wont need half the things i've got in it tho! oh well.

Has no1 heard from kat yet still or has she been on any other threads? I really wanna no how she doin! I expect she 2 busy with her new baby!!

hope every1s ok anyway. xxx
