I wanna know the sex!!!!! Driving me mad!

So far I was craving sweet things in the beginning but the last couple of weeks I've been craving a lot of savory things, the heart rate today at 12+1 is 165bpm, I had mild nausea but not really bad and the same really as with DD, the ring on a string went straight back and forth then in a definite circle, my face, hair and nails look great but I've got dreadful spots on my chest, shoulders, back and even tummy, my bum and thighs have fattened up but so has my tummy... I think it's a hermaphrodite. Hmm

Miskate · 21/04/2014 19:57

Random, have you seen the 'nub' theory? Apparently it predicts your baby's gender from the 12 week scan. Give it a google.

RandomInternetStranger · 21/04/2014 20:00

Yeah and I'm not bad at guessing right when I see scan pics. My scan is on Thursday when I'll be 12+5. I would love them to tell me then but they usually wait till 16 weeks don't they? I may have to go for a private one next month then!! Grin

nogeybose · 21/04/2014 20:58

I am so jealous of all your cleavage stories! So far, I've gone from a 32A to a 36B ... so not much more than a bigger ribcage, really.

One thing I know for sure, if a cleavage does magically appear overnight, I am not going to waste it on those godawful wireless maternity bra monstrosities this time around! When I was pregnant last time, I remember going into M&S and bursting into tears at the disgusting beige granny bra the assistant wanted me to wear!

Loaf99 · 21/04/2014 21:13

I had a dream where a big ship came across the sky and then I spent ages going in and out of toilets. Needlesstosay I really needed the toilet!!! Have gone from a 34b to 36d!! Madness

RandomInternetStranger · 21/04/2014 21:15

nogey I know it's so depressing! I found a couple of not totally hideous and cheap ones in H&M but the general options available are dreadful. Argent Provocateur have stopped their range and it was ridiculously expensive, Elle Intimates are very flimsy and offer no support or protective padding, and the rest are just awful. I spoke to a Raegar specialist last week who said there's no real need to switch to non wired, it's more about comfort than anything and as long as it fits properly it shouldn't have any negative effect on them. I'm hoping my skin clears up and the sun comes out and I can spend the summer floating around braless in my little summer dresses and ballet flats - they're nice a full and pert and big at the moment so I would be able to now if my skin was OK. Think I need a few sunbathing days at home to clear it up and camouflage it then I'll be good to go! Wink

utopian99 · 21/04/2014 21:16

random Grin at your diagnosis of hermaphrodite!

nogey mine barely changed until my milk came in three days after birth, when I woke looking exactly like a page 3 girl! well, a page 3 girl that gave birth 3 days ago I also had a right strop over ghastly maternity underwear last time but check out HotMilk, Cake Lingerie or Amoralia... A much better alternative!

Just got back from a lovely Easter away to find DH has stocked the fridge with pineapple juice as I mentioned it helped me feel less sick. Am lurking under the duvet with it.

itsjustthursday · 21/04/2014 21:31

Thanks Sparkle will check them out!

(Psst - hi all - it's January, I have a tendency to NC regularly so this probs won't be the last time... Smile)

Leaning more towards finding out the sex. Here you can find out at 20wks (no idea about privately). I think because then we can start referring to the baby by a name to DS, he'll only be 19mo at that stage but I don't underestimate that he will be sensing changes and he'll be getting closer to speaking - he babbles loads atm, only word he uses deliberately is 'no' (!), but they're getting to understand a lot at this age so no doubt he will understand more, thinking of getting a book to show a baby brother or sister is on their way. I think it might help with the transition, we'll see.

Those of you who having a 3rd+ DC (I think there's at least one here!), what gap did you have between 1 and 2 and how did you prepare your eldest?

Loaf99 · 21/04/2014 21:42

Ladies two questions:

  1. What are you drinking as hot drinks as tea coffee camomile tea and green tea are all off as regular options? I've found hot water with lemon is ok but anything else??
  1. Anyone recommend somewhere in East London to have a private scan? If I wait until twelve weeks I fear my cover will be blown by my hugeness??
RandomInternetStranger · 21/04/2014 21:51

Mine is DC number 2 and there will be an 8.5 year gap between DD and this one. Obviously she's much older and far easier to explain it all to and prepare, and she knows how babies are made and I'm also using this as a big lesson in reproduction and a warning to make sure there are no accidents in 10 years time. Wink With her I am keeping a diary of my symptoms and what is happening now and reading it to her every now and then. I'm letting her listen on the doppler, I plan on taking her to a scan later on, I'm talking to her and involving her as much as possible even to the extent I've said she can pick a name if it's a girl (that may have been a mistake!) and I'm telling her all the positives of having a sibling. The baby has sent her an easter card and gift, and has got her a birthday card and gift, she has a framed scan photo, but at the same time I am reassuring her a lot that I love her, she is still the most important thing in the world to me, she is my first born who taught me how to love and what being a Mummy was about, that I'll still always be there for her, she's still my little princess and always will be. She's not raised any concerns yet but I'm trying to make sure she feels she can if she wants to. So far she's pretty excited! I gave her a big sister tshirt and a couple of books on hSmile ow babies are made. Touch wood she's happy so far.

Giraffeski · 21/04/2014 21:55

What's wrong with camomile tea?
I'm drinking peppermint tea, peach tea and sometimes hot blackcurrant cordial.

RandomInternetStranger · 21/04/2014 21:56

Loaf I have kept having one cup of decaf tea a day and have had the odd matcha - I think it's pretty divided on green tea, some think it's fine and some say it's too harsh with the toxin cleansing. I have loads of flavours of fruit teas I'll have now & then. I switched to smoothies though mainly and home made juices. I used to quite like hot spiced apple juice but it's more of a winter drink. Used to like hot milk but unless it's been in a bowl of Frosties and has soaked up a load of sugar I've gone off that now too! I'm glad summer is coming, I won't really want any hot drinks when it warms up!

Giraffeski · 21/04/2014 22:04

Random, there's nearly 10 years between my DD1 and DD2, it has been fine. She loves her baby sister!

amy83firsttimer · 21/04/2014 22:06

loaf a normal tea first thing (two or three a day is fine), then Yorkshire Tea decaff for rest of day then fruit juice (mango current favourite) and chamomile or peppermint tea in the evening.
I think anything's ok if it's not on the banned list from midwife but it's best not to have too much of any one thing.

Giraffeski · 21/04/2014 22:08

She has in the past told me when she has been feeling jealous/irrationally angry with the baby, and I've reassured her that it's normal and ok to feel like that ( but obvs not to act on it!). It's all good so far, and to be honest DD2 has had to fit round all her activities so much that I don't think she has noticed much attention deficit, it helps that she is in school in the day too so you get that time alone with baby without feeling like you're putting her nose out of joint.

alita7 · 21/04/2014 22:11

I don't seem bothered about hot drinks, I think it's because my body temp seems to be generally higher than before. I have a hot chocolate now and again.

we're doing a pregnancy/ birth practical day tomorrow at uni... I kind of wish it was next week as I could have told a couple of people then, it's only 2 days til my scan -.- I'm going to find it hard not to blurt it out hehe.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 21/04/2014 23:33

thursday I've gota 4 year gap between DS and DD,so explains about his baby sister was fairly straightforward (although every time he came home from somewhere for the first few weeks he asked If she was still here!)

DD will be 2.5 when this one arrives, so I'm not sure yet how it will go. I'm not planning. in using her cot though and she won't remember the baby stuff so hopefully she won't feel pushed out. She's got a few dolls who we use as her babies so I think we'll just continue down that route and hope for the best!Grin

In other news, I'm finding driving is causing my SPD to flair up, but travelling as a passengerakes the nausea unbearable! DH had to take the DC out without me on Friday as even the thought of being I. the car in the heat made me want to throw up Sad

11 weeks tomorrow, it's going faster now!

caravela · 21/04/2014 23:38

I hadn't heard that there was a problem with green tea or chamomile tea. And anyway I've personally decided that if something is not on the NHS official 'foods to avoid' page I'm not going to avoid it, because there is so much rumour and speculation floating around that you could go mad worrying about it, and if it was proven to be that dangerous it would be on the official list. I'm having a cup of normal tea first thing (the NHS daily caffeine limit is actually quite generous if you aren't drinking coffee) and then things like rooibos or fruit teas later in the day. I don't really like coffee anyway, so giving that up isn't a hardship.

RandomInternetStranger · 22/04/2014 03:10

edwards I've seen on Amazon a few different kinds of seats which are supposed to be good for pelvis problems. Some are kind of big wedges, some are like bum cheek shaped pads and there's an inflatable seat. I was wondering about getting something for the car or the ever looming wheelchair as I drive regularly 4 hours up north to my family and that's going to be painful, and I remember last time when I ended up in the wheelchair I would be in pain after a while. At the moment I am struggling walking too far and am paying for it for a couple of days if I overdo it, and am getting a reasonable amount of pain in bed or after sitting for a while but I'm finding my belt a help and actually my curvy sole trainers seem to ease it too, must be altering my pelvic posture in a way that feels better. I have my yoga ball to sit on & I'm not sure that's a huge help, and I don't sit on it as often as I probably should but it's there. Going to go to the GP and get them to refer me for physio asap and ask about osteopathy or a chiropractor.

Polkadotscarf · 22/04/2014 07:35

Hi all, I had some bleeding on Sunday night, got a call from out of hours doctor who was very un reassuring and quite mean so called epu who booked me in for a scan. I had bleeding four weeks ago too so they said is likely to be old blood and linked with my period. They could find no problems and we saw a moving tiny baby with a heartbeat on the scan! So exciting! My twelve week scan is next week but really want to tell people now as it's so close and we saw everything was ok yesterday...
What would you do?

Back to school today and dreading it as the sickness has got so much worse over the holidays! Ugh! Is it a good enough reason to just work afternoons for the next week?!
11+3

Polkadotscarf · 22/04/2014 07:36

Random...I have ongoing back problems and have continued to see my chiropractor, she has been amazing. I really hope your doctor sorts someone out for you

WinterLover · 22/04/2014 07:48

barmy Im admin/ta support. im agency at the moment, they were going to take me on after the holidays...no idea if that will happen now. Its stressing me that much im struggling to sleep Sad.

Scan tomorrow Grin

12w today!! how did that happen!

Miskate · 22/04/2014 07:54

Polka, personally I would tell people, but I'm mega excitable and it's my first child. The 12 week thing is arbitrary really, if you see a heartbeat past 7 weeks you've got only a 2% chance of miscarrying for the entirety of the pregnancy.

blamber · 22/04/2014 08:17

loaf I drink clipper decaf tea, one or two cups a day (they don't use chemicals to decaffeinate unlike other brands) and rooibos (which you can drink as much of as you want). Also, just hot water. A cup of green or camomile a day is fine!
