Congratulations on the new arrivals, lovely names Smile
kally I don't know how you are doing 12hr shifts!
We had a wedding yesterday and has definitely left me tired today, but really glad we went.
Can't wait to meet our little one now, could only be a couple of weeks!

MamaSushi · 12/04/2014 16:50

I'd also like to know how to join the FB page please, would love to see pics of the new lovelies Thanks

mrsmummytobe · 12/04/2014 18:00

isean all that info was amazing, what a lovely & positive birth story. The photo on fb is also lovely & you look radiant!

Can't remember who brought up the subject of weight gain as I'm on my phone & can't scroll back but I've gained about 3 1/2 stone!!! I'm not worrying about it though- the most important thing will be my baby then I can lose the weight gradually.

35+6 today!

dobedobedo · 12/04/2014 18:10

We finally did the maternity wing tour in the hospital today. I was by far the furthest along in pregnancy, the other ladies were mostly 20+ odd weeks. When someone asked me when I was due and I told them, she almost recoiled in horror as if my waters would break all over her shoes! Grin lol.
We got to see the water birth suite, and I definitely want a water birth now. So from next week I'm going to do everything I can to go into spontaneous, healthy, no complications labour! I'm sure it won't be THAT hard Hmm

How are our new mummies doing?

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 12/04/2014 18:36

Hoping to be discharged tonight. Celyn has a perfect bill of health, me not so much but they're happy for me to just keep on iron tablets because of blood loss, and paracetamol for the tear. Tearing was one of the things I was most worried about and honestly, I remember that it burned but I don't remember the pain, if that makes sense. I knew I'd torn as soon as it happened but more because of sensation than pain, and even though the stitching took 2 hours (!!) it was a piece of cake with gas and air.

moobaloo · 12/04/2014 20:40

You brave girl Moomin! Hope you get to go home tonight!

Haha Dobe if you had gone into labour it would've been the best place, and the other expectant mums would have got more information than they bargained for!

So who's in the drop zone now then? Still more than 2 weeks for me but someone told me today I wouldn't go to 40 weeks... I know you get told a lot of rubbish at this stage but I'm hoping she is right! Baby feels big now, can't imagine how big he might be in 7 weeks if I go 2 weeks over!!!

dobedobedo · 12/04/2014 21:01

Not in the drop zone yet, but I will be by Friday! Right now it feels like the baby is trying to dig his way out with shovels and a sledgehammer. The kicks are so sore!

Moomin, that sounds scary, you are v brave! On one hand though, isn't gas and air wonderful stuff? Grin

kally195 · 12/04/2014 21:20

Finally in bed after a looong day!

If anyone is after bottles, Amazon have Dr Brown's natural flow starter kit for £10.36 delivered - absolute bargin!

I just ordered some - although I really want to EBF, we decided it was sensible to have some in just in case, and for later on so DH can bottle feed expressed breast milk.

MrsFooCough · 12/04/2014 22:21

Been rather lacking on here recently - sorry! Been really hectic at home, my nesting has kicked in but what with sacroiliac agony I can't actually DO anything useful towards it! So DMum and DH have been helping tremendously, sorting out my room and DH's room and the baby's room (obv not using it yet but it's also the spare room where MiL will be staying for a fortnight when Bean comes!) so I've been resting up.
Tons of BH contractions here, really uncomfortable and sometimes a bit painful, can't really talk through them easily and the pain is sometimes low round my back as well... Should I be concerned? Only 33wks today, don't really want Bean arriving so soon! Confused
Also I've been having ridiculous restless leg syndrome. Never had it pre-preg, but it's TERRIBLE, only in my left leg and it's enough to keep me awake for about 70% of the night Sad but if I get really deep massage from DH or DMum as I get into bed it sometimes stays away.
Any remedies? I take Pregnacare but not regularly (it affects my sugar levels, grrr) so maybe it's a slight mineral deficiency? Oh and I hate bananas so they're not an option...

Oh I've said congrats on the FB page but CONGRATULATIONS MUMMYMOOMIN AND MUMMYISEAN Grin and welcome to the world Callie and Gracie Flowers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

ClearlyMoo · 12/04/2014 23:37

Hi all. Still having cramps and have leg pain as well now. Notice mucus had thickened too. Did a stupid Bounty (grrr) online quiz which said it could be the beginnings of labour. I think DH is sick of my "oooh that smarts" already and is convinced just BH which I know is the most likely situation. He's staying at his parents tonight (semi-detached to us) as they are away and Grandma is alone! So I'm home alone with my brain working overtime! I expect I'll sleep ok and nothing will happen. I'm only 36 weeks for crying out loud. A possible 38 more days before baby arrives.

As for weight gain, 4 stone here, that's about 30% my pre-preg weight... I tell you this to make you all feel better!

Moomin, well done brave girl! Hope you get home soon x

Evenin!
I flew into the drop zone today, officially 37wks now Shock Shock Shock

MrsFoo I found salty stuff helped - dunno if I had proper restless legs as such, but may be worth a try?

Hope you got home Moomin! Everything's better once you're in your own bed.

On the weight gain topic, I think my scales are broken. It reckons I've only gained 1st? Confused Might go weigh myself at Boots for a proper answer!
I'm at the same weight as I was this time with DS1 (gained 2.5st with him), but that's cos I only ever lost half of my 'baby weight'! Too many delicious dark chocolate digestives while trapped under a small baby on the sofa.... Oops.

I've rewritten and printed out my birth plan this evening, plus written another version of it for DH with things Very Carefully Spelt Out so he's more useful this time. The good thing about iPhones is that I can keep editing the copy in Notes and it updates his via the iCloud!

Does anyone on here know if they carry Group B Strep? I can't remember if we've discussed it before?
Anyhoo, I had it with DS, antibiotics for me during labour, and for him after birth, so will be given ABs again this time.
There's an interesting thread about it in Pregnancy at the mo - I'll add the link in a min. I'm not sure I realised how serious it could be for the baby, and how it's often not tested for. I've now plastered my birth plan with it in BOLD CAPS to make sure they know!

LongTailedTit · 13/04/2014 00:29

Ok, while I'm waffling on about iPhones - didya know you could get a breastfeeding app??? Confused Grin

This would have been so damn handy when we had DS, instead we had a massive A4 notebook to list everything in which was never anywhere nearby when I needed it, side, duration, fussing etc, and a million ways I tried to keep track of which side he'd had last (rings, hairbands on wrists, pins in bra), it was a right pain.
Obviously not everyone needs to keep records, but for those of us with BF issues it's a useful thing to do (or essential if the HVs are to be believed).

MN had one last week in the product reviews section - 'Baby Feed Timer', £1.50 or so, but there are free BF apps with good reviews too, tho mostly American and covered in fecking pop-up ads.

My fingers are firmly crossed that TinyTit feeds like a dream and we don't need any of it, but I've downloaded two anyway and a freebie contraction timer just in case.

:)

PixieBumbles · 13/04/2014 07:09

Only faint irregular contractions so far, off to hospital in a bit for a quick scan to make sure baby's head down so I can still have my planned home delivery. Looks like we will have our next Maybie before too long!

Hezbean · 13/04/2014 07:28

Hugs pixiebumbles!! Exciting! Keep us posted - hope you're ok xxxx

Clearly - hope you had a good night sleep and things have settled this morning.

LTT - ill defo check the bf app you recommended! Great link re strep b too thankyou.

Another crappy nights sleep here - just can't seem to switch my mind off overdrive in the early hours!!

Hezbean · 13/04/2014 07:30

Ps - moomin that is a lot of stitching!! You are v brave! Hope you got home ok and first night with little Callie at home went well.

dobedobedo · 13/04/2014 07:36

Wow pixie! Good luck! So excited for you!!! Grin

LTT Back when I had ds, there were no smart phones! Shock that makes me feel well old! I used to keep track of breastfeeding by just feeding him from the boob that was closest to exploding first Grin My friends used to swap bracelets and make notes, but I just poked my boobs and whichever one felt like it had more rocks in it was offered first. Science! I can't remember if I used to offer two boobs for one feed, I think I only used to if they were really full and hurting.
I can't really remember any breastfeeding theory (although I know I was "expert" at the time) so I might read up on it before baby is born. Even if only to sound knowledgeable to those who will inevitably tell me to give him a bottle for whatever spurious reason people do when you are breastfeeding a baby.

Can't remember who asked about weight gain, but I've gained 2 - 4lbs (depending what time of day I weigh myself) this pregnancy. I've actually went down a dress size or two! Grin I was overweight anyway and lost a bunch of weight in the first trimester, so most of the weight was gained back between week 23 and 30 when I went through a stage of needing to eat ALL THE THINGS ALL THE TIME! When I was pregnant with ds though, I put on more than 4 stone. Just goes to show you, no pregnancy is the same.

dobedobedo · 13/04/2014 07:38

Re: group b strep. I haven't heard this mentioned at all by midwife or consultant. Do they test you for it in the blood tests? How will you know if you have it otherwise? Shock

I think I'll be mentioning it at my next appointment.

McBaby · 13/04/2014 08:40

Good luck pixie.

Group b strep is not routinely tested for in the uk (although it is in most other western countries) It is sometimes picked up through a urine test/swab or you can pay to have it dond privately if you order a test kit online and it costs £35.

I had it in previous pregnancy and had to have antibiotics and have just had a negative result through this week.

Xavielli · 13/04/2014 08:45

Good luck Pixie!!

loopylou52 · 13/04/2014 09:05

Wow, good luck pixie!! Shock

Vikks · 13/04/2014 09:12

Shock Shock Shock Pixie good luck!!

I can't believe these babies are coming! Grin
