Haaa welcome home Bush! Grin Sorry but that really made me laugh! Very sensible mum just so long as she doesn't start putting mats under you on the sofa too.

snoozysleeper · 09/04/2014 23:53

Thinking of you moomin

exciting news isean Smile

And good luck to both!!

Cant believe how quickly these babies are coming Shock so nearly there now !

kally195 · 10/04/2014 06:47

bush I lived in Nairobi for four years (until September last year). The UK is home, but after 7 years away it feels alien at the same time. We are trying to work out how to adjust!

About half an hour until I get to go back to the UK. Nightshift went really quickly and I feel OK - mu bump is ridiculously tight though. Is this just how it will be from now on?

Any news on moomin? I don't have facebook access here, so can't check to see how she is doing....

bushprincess · 10/04/2014 07:15

How funny Kally we'd have been in Nairobi at the same time! I lleft in Sept 2012... i was living in Loresho, you? How many more nightshifts to go? Hope he bump tightening eased once u got some rest.

Just checked on fb and latest is that she's hoping a bed frees up on the labour ward so they can break her waters . Keeping fingers crossed for her!

Isean · 10/04/2014 08:23

I have woken up with the realisation that today is the last full day of just me, or just me & OH. Wow.

dobedobedo · 10/04/2014 08:52

Gosh isean how exciting! Grin Grin I'm so jealous!

Can I ask a knickers question? What knickers are you getting for postnatal? I bought some tesco ones but I just realised they aren't the granny type pants we are supposed to get! They're too low and would irritate a c section scar if it came to it.
Where is the best place to get some giant tit hugger knickers? Blush

wm3010 · 10/04/2014 08:59

Morning all, exciting times on here, can't believe there are going to be so many babies so soon! Thinking about moomin especially and hope we will have some news from her soon (annoyingly I can't check facebook at work) but also isean and bornin.

One more week at work for me, am 36 weeks today and just a bit fed up with the fact no-one seems to be acknowledging the fact I am going and I keep getting new stuff to deal with, despite also being off on Monday so it's actually only 4 working days... Is it weird that I am actually feeling a bit apprehensive about mat leave? I am looking forward to the rest but a bit worried about how I will fill my days with my friends all at work. Think I have also now realised that I am actually going to have to push this baby out soon and that is making me apprehensive too.

bush that made me laugh, we bought a waterproof mattress cover a while ago and I am thinking it might be time to put that on soon. Also gave dh a maternity pad to keep in his car in case of emergency. Isn't it all so glam?! Still, glad to hear you made it safely home.

kally195 · 10/04/2014 09:00

Bush we were in Westlands - off Rhapta Road? We left a couple of weeks before the attack on Westgate Mall... Three more nightshirts to go (ten shifts in total). Bump has eased a bit - just arrived back in the UK so should be in bed within the next half hour. It is so weird to think we were on Nairobi at the same time! Living really close by as well. We probably saw each other at Village Market!

Thanks for the update on moomin. I hope she has gone to the labour ward now!

Isean how exciting! Can't wait to hear how it all goes - you are going to do brilliantly xx

loopylou52 · 10/04/2014 09:01

Wow isean, it's all very surreal isn't it?

Dobe - I splashed out and bought my giant knickers from M&S cos I figured I might be washing and wearing those for a while during recovery and it's not a time I want to be wearing uncomfortable pants or crappy fabric. I think they were £12 for a pack of 5 and are called 'full briefs'. Nice! Grin

wm3010 · 10/04/2014 09:02

dobe I bought "full briefs" from Asda the other day, 4 for 4 pairs I think. I haven't actually opened the packet to see how big they are but think they would come up high enough for a c-section scar. It's quite difficult to know what size to get really as presumably my shape will change a good bit after the birth (although I know that I will still have a bump) so I got a pack that are 2 sizes bigger than pre-pregnancy and a pack that are 3 sizes bigger. I can always pick up an extra pack if need be.

Rigbyroo · 10/04/2014 09:07

Babies are on their waaaaaay! So bloody exciting.
I'm on massive knicker hunt too. Also, what are people wearing home from hospital? I wore leggings and dress last time but it was very dark! Don't imagine leggings will be comfy on scar. I've got some 'lounge wear' trousers from m and s and the top folds down or up, do you think I could wear those?

loopylou52 · 10/04/2014 09:18

I hadn't really thought about what I wear home in terms of potential cs scar, but planning to go with a pair of the stretchy pull-on jersey trousers I've been living in most of my pregnancy. Hopefully the waist band would come high enough not to rub on a scar but if not I guess I'd be able to fold it down.

dobedobedo · 10/04/2014 09:21

Black leggings and a black wrap dress for the journey home I think! I don't imagine jeans would be very comfy and I'd be worried about bleeding through!

bushprincess · 10/04/2014 10:22

hope you're home and have a good sleep kally It is a small world isn't it! (and having been a nairobi-ite you'll probably recognise where my nickname is from... ever see the bushprincess handbags they sold at junction?!!). Hope no-one you knew was caught up in westgate, I was very lucky that no friends were in there, but it was difficult to watch from afar and think 'that could have been me'... I've been back up several times since and there's a definitely a heightened sense of threat, amongst my friends at least, that having been said I loved it and would be happy to return sometime....

Wading into the knicker conversation - I've got some from M&S which are Mahoosive!!!! actually using them already as they practically cover entire bump which is rather comfy (definately not at all attractive though!!!)

Isean thats amazing... enjoy your day together and good luck getting ready!!!!

Minions · 10/04/2014 10:44

Tis def getting exciting now! For those on Facebook tell Moomin that us non-FBers wish her well :)

wm, I was apprehensive finishing for mat leave but almost two weeks in I'm loving it. Amazed at how the time flies just doing housey stuff & resting. I'd recommend even if you're not seeing anyone going for a walk or swim most days. I'm just back from a swim, it was only 30mins in the pool but I think it keeps the mind & body healthy. Yesterday's exercise was a full day shopping/lunching with my mum! Had a great day but boy did I sleep for hours last night...

AliOh · 10/04/2014 11:20

Hello ladies :)

Wow, its all getting so exciting now! So jealous of those who know their babies will be arriving so soon!

Had 36 week check with the midwife this morning, baby is 2/5 engaged! Not sure if this is something to get excited about?! Haha, but all that bouncing on my ball must be doing something. Finish work a week today - hurrah! Cannot wait, totally jealous of those who have finished already!

wm3010 · 10/04/2014 11:45

minions that's reassuring thanks, I think it is probably just reality hitting me that is causing me to feel a bit weird about the whole thing. You are right that a bit of exercise will help. Work having been soooo busy recently means that leave has just crept up on me. Hormones are also (even more) all over the place at the moment so that is not helping!

dobedobedo · 10/04/2014 11:47

Ds and I were having a clear out of his toys and he handed me a teddy bear with the MOST HUMUNGOUS spider on it.

Have you ever seen a heavily pregnant woman jump a meter in the air and sprint out of the room? Pretty impressive considering the spd and all! Shock

I'm now wondering where the fuck it went, and having strong braxton hicks. Let's hope having a fright can't bring on labour, I haven't had a chance to have my whooping cough vax yet! Grin

dobedobedo · 10/04/2014 11:52

wm3010 I was apprehensive about mat leave too! Even the first day of leave, I felt weird and kinda scared. It's a big life change! But now I'm on day 4 and I was so relieved this morning that I didn't have to go into work. I haven't been bored yet as I'm interspersing naps and relaxing with doing wee jobs in the house and other things.
Gearing up for mat leave is worse than mat leave. You'll probably find you enjoy it!

loopylou52 · 10/04/2014 12:08

Ew, dobe, I really feel for you re the spider. We had a massive one in the kitchen on Sunday which scared the life out of me and made me hurt my pelvis running away from it. Bastard!

I'm loving mat leave too. It is definitely weird thinking I won't be going back any time soon - it takes an awful lot of adjustment. I haven't had chance to get bored yet, which I'm actually a bit disappointed by - so many jobs to do and the issues with the baby's growth are making me fret about it coming early and not being ready.

SarahJinx · 10/04/2014 12:26

oh God Dobedo I wouldn be able to relax now until that spider has been found!! hideous!

On pants, I got mine from Matalan, big soft granny knickers 4 for 5 pairs, soooo soft, you'll be shocked by how much you love them and want to keep wearing them or a year post birth much to the disgust of DP A couple of packs should do it, in a size up.

As for leaving the hosp, whoever mentioned the turn down yoga type pants, i think theya r eideal, becuase you can roll them up and over your scar, or under your tummy if no section. You will be bleeding and you may also have stitches etc so comfort for the car journey is
THE most important thing. For a while after too, lounge stuff is perfect.

Last day at work today, my team have brought in a buffet, I've been scoffing crisps and Krispy Kremes all day!

rebeccax2 · 10/04/2014 12:53

Well wm3010 I'm totally with you.

I love my job and its busy and exciting and i'm working my ass of right up until the finish line.. and I feel apprehensive and nervous and scared of letting go :-(

I have 3 weeks left from Monday. I'll be finishing at 38 weeks.

wm3010 · 10/04/2014 13:19

I'm glad it's not just me who finds the whole stopping work thing weird. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily always love my job but I suppose it's just I know where I am with that whereas mat leave is the great unknown with the added worries about labour! I think other people I have spoken to just think I must be really excited, which I kind of am obviously, to meet our little girl, but at the moment more uncertain than anything. At least I have you guys to share with!

Any news on moomin, those of you who have access to Facebook?

impatientlywaiting · 10/04/2014 13:41

WM - Moomin's last FB update was 4 hours ago. She was hoping to get admitted to labour ward today. Fingers crossed it's all going well for her.

wm3010 · 10/04/2014 14:13

Thanks impatiently, hope she is now in the labour ward and things are progressing.
