Hope everything is going well with your induction, Moomin! Hopefully not long to go until you meet your gorgeous LO, if they're not here already. :)

Totally concur with the PGP hassle, dobedobedo. I don't finish up work until the end of next week and it's becoming a real trial to drag myself into the office, sit upright at a desk all day and then make it home without resorting to crawling along the street towards the bus stop.

I need to take a longer journey tonight in order to rescue DD from nursery, so have around 2 miles to hobble later. Ugh. Means I'm staying in this lunchtime and attempting to rest so I might stand a chance of not needing my 3YO to drag me home!

Got loads of jobs I need/want to do at home once I start maternity leave. Also hoping that breaking the jobs into small chunks and resting between them will help and stop me from feeling like someone has taken a baseball pat to my groin, back and hips and then left daggers embedded in them.

Still sulking that the NHS were totally disinterested in offering me any kind of advice/relief/assistance. Angry

A bit Envy of those without BH! I had a few with DD1 and seem to be getting loads more this time around. They're my main marker for when I've overdone it. If I have, they're pretty strong and repeating the moment I get a chance to rest.

At least it gives me advance warning that I'll be crippled the following morning-! Though I'm a little concerned that they might point towards labour being even more ridiculously fast than last time. Confused

Have just been washing the clothes I got on eBay and for some reason it has prompted a massive freak out. I am still only 32 weeks but I just feel that we have so much too do practically and also I have no idea what to do with a baby. For example what do I dress it in in the summer, what if it gets too hot or too cold. I just don't know how I am going to do this.

moas · 08/04/2014 13:06

Thanks chip!

Dobedo I feel your supermarket pain. I braved Morrison with DS this morning. Came home with about half of what I went out to get!

Really struggling to slow down, I'm usually out and about a lot with DS so he gets bored around the house. Lots of house work to get on with but get so easily tired! No window cleaning for me!

Chip86 · 08/04/2014 13:16

Im glad im not the only one who is really tired and struggeling to get everything done that is very reasuring i thouht maybe i needed to get tough with myself but after reading this i can see listening to my body is the best way
thank you for your help ladies not sure what i would do with out all the addvice

random dont worry you will be a great mum i dont know the answere to that question eather do you have a baby book to look in or maybe a second time mum will be on in a min and be able to help you

One more layer is the rule I was taught for clothing babies. :)

If you need three layers (i.e. top, jumper and coat) then baby needs four (i.e. vest, sleepsuit, jumper and blanket).

If you're comfortable in two layers (i.e. top and jumper) then baby needs three (i.e. vest, sleepsuit, jumper).

If you're comfortable in one layer (i.e. t-shirt) then baby needs two (i.e. vest and sleepsuit).

If you're warm and wearing the bare minimum (i.e. bikini) then baby needs one layer (i.e. summer playsuit).

If you're roasting in the bare minimum then baby needs just a nappy.

Layers can be anything, things like a wrap or a blanket count as an extra layer.

Hands shouldn't need covering once the nails have been trimmed until the winter, when if you need gloves then baby needs gloves.

Feet you might want to pop a pair of socks on, if they don't have a footed sleepsuit on. If their feet still seem cool, then put another pair of socks over the top (I use the fluffy slipper socks for this) or you can use soft baby shoes or booties. Sock-Ons can be very useful.

Hats for warmth shouldn't be necessary after the first 24 hours or so at this time of year in a standard UK climate, unless you love hanging around the freezer aisle at the supermarket. A sun hat however is a good investment. I recommend ones you can tie on!

One more layer also applies for swimming (if anyone is planning to do so) so baby will need a costume and then some type of wrap or wet suit to keep them snuggly warm if you're using the adult pool. Some leisure centres have extra warm baby pools, where the extra layer is not required.

SarahJinx · 08/04/2014 13:48

Afternoon

just popping in to agree with Spirael and to add that you'll shock yurself by how quickly you become confident of what isn right for your baby. layers are the key but also check body temperature by feeling little tummies and backs of necks for warmth/cold. Hands and feet temp doesnt matter that much - although you clearly dont want either boiling or freezing! You learn so quickly 'on the job' dont worry about it all now, I promise!

Keep wondering about moomin!

Awful low back pain here tody, I am ignoring it, I am NOT having this baby early, I need a freaking rest!

dobedobedo · 08/04/2014 13:57

If we have a summer like last year's, I think we will all save a fortune on baby clothes and laundry as our babies will be warm enough in their nappies! Ds was born in January but we had a hot summer that year and he barely wore a stitch for three months.

I've just rearranged our bedroom, partly. (I'm stopping for a rest and a cornetto) there's now space for the cot beside the bed and I've arranged some books and electric candles and stuff on a table under the window which looks nice. I still have loads to do, but I'm determined to get the bedroom sorted by today.

You'd think this baby was bloody royalty Grin

sambababy · 08/04/2014 14:23

I slept from 22:30 to 9:30, with a few loo breaks but a pretty good sleep, and woke up feeling like I hadn't slept at all! What is wrong?? I feel like a zombie and have no motivation to do anything. Plus I am ravenous, I think there's another growth spurt happening. I don't know how you ladies with small DC do it!

random I am well & truly in that freak out boat with you.

Who else was watching 2nd series of scandal? Shock it's so good.

loopylou52 · 08/04/2014 16:08

That sounds like an impressive amount of work dobe! My day has mostly centred around putting all the washed baby clothes away and washing all the baby bedding, blankets etc. Quite a nice job because it's not that hard but still feels like I've accomplished something. Going to have a rest now and do my.natal hypnotherapy birth preparation CD - you're meant to start doing it from 32 weeks so I'm over three weeks behind! Confused

Sorry you're feeling so tired samba but fingers crossed it is a really good growth spirt!

randdom · 08/04/2014 16:47

Thanks everyone. Had a bit of a freak our to my husband down the phone and he has reassured me that we will be fine.

I am considering hyponobirthing but was thinking of getting a cd rather than going to a class. For those who have tried what do you think of it?

kally195 · 08/04/2014 16:54

randdom I love the hypnobirthing CD - it seems to really be sinking in. Can't wait until my new headphones arrive (lost my new ones within three days of receiving them) so I can get back to it!

Hezbean · 08/04/2014 17:05

We did a hypnobirthing class which was great - I think the CD on its own though would definitely be really helpful though. It's great to do the relaxation anyway and the positive messages can only be a good thing. I need to remember to do mine more this week.

Just had my 34 week midwife check, everything looks well and I have been referred to the birth centre so I am really really happy Grin

Can't wait for more news from moomin. Thinking of her loads today.

Spirael you always give such good advice! Thankyou for the clothing info...!

Isean · 08/04/2014 17:31

Booked in for a section on Monday!!!!

Baby is still breech and docs decided that due to my unstable BP & cholestasis it is too risky to try the ECV or vaginal birth.

Feeling a mix of happy/nervous/scared/excited/disappointed.

Isean we r date buddies!!!

I'm being Admitted tomorrow until baby comes!

impatientlywaiting · 08/04/2014 17:39

Congrats Isean on getting your date. Must be so exciting, and good to know there is an end in sight for the dreaded itching!

Another baby next week! Can't wait til they all start arriving.

MasterFlea · 08/04/2014 17:47

thanks Loopy for update on Moomin. I've been wondering all day how she is getting on.

Wow Isean, you'll be holding your baby next week!

I'm very envious of those who will be finished with all this pregnancy lark sooner than I.

It was nice to hear that others have tantrumming toddlers too.

kally195 · 08/04/2014 17:53

Isean - how exciting! Understandable that you are feeling such a range of emptions, but remember that you are a superstar who has grown a whole person and you get to meet your baby soon!

bornin was the plan always to be admitted or is that a new development? Hope all is OK! I will be thinking of you all on Monday xx

hez fantastic news on being referred to the birthing centre. Hope you don't mind me asking - have you had any problems with your iron levels? The only thing that is going to stop me using the MLU is if my iron hasn't gone up - it fell to 9.9 at my 28 week check. I've been on fairly high dosage iron since and have to have my bloods done this week (35 weeks). I think the midwife said that it needs to be over 11 for me to use the MLU. I have no idea how likely it is that my levels will have gone up, or if I can even tell....

I have to admit that I am going to be quite gutted if I can't use it....

spirael adding my thanks for all your great advice. Please stick around after we have had our babies - I don't have a CLUE what's coming!

Bornin1984 · 08/04/2014 18:08

Bornin1984 · 08/04/2014 18:32

Im going armed with kindle and iPad !!!

chattychattyboomba · 08/04/2014 18:52

Hello all, I'm
Sorry I can't really recap as I am on my phone but just wanted to give a quick update. Had my 3D scan today and baby girl is so cute! Got very clear images despite being beyond the recommended time for scanning. She looks exactly like her sister with big chubby cheeks and estimated almost 5lbs at 33weeks Shock
The sonographer actually suggested I am probably more like 34 weeks now but who knows?! I'm done with guesstimating she'll arrive when she's ready.
She is head down and everything looks good to go.

I am in a lot of pain at the moment (the whole kicked by a horse in the groin thing so many are experiencing) and really keen for things to not drag on.

Can't wait to hear news from Moomin's induction Grin

Hope everyone gets lots of rest.

Xavielli · 08/04/2014 18:53

Monday is DD1's birthday - I would like to assure you both Bornin and Isean that babies born on 14/04 are marvellous Grin
