blossom I know how you feel and you're not alone. I work in a school and have been wearing clothes in the next size up all week to hide my growing bump. Yesterday I felt so frumpy and unattractive I ended up putting on my over sized school fleece to cover up what I was wearing. Today was an inset and I put on my fitted maternity top with a cardi in the right size and elasticated skirt. My bump was very prominent and got a lot of comments from staff asking excitedly where I had been hiding it. I didn't feel at all self conscious but really proud. I am planning on getting some more bump-revealing outfits together for next week and at 17 weeks tomorrow I reckon I can answer any questions from the kids honestly =)
Have you tried wearing some fitted maternity wear that flatters your new shape? Take care of yourself and try your best to embrace your beautiful bump. It's not fat or unattractive X

my sympathies isitme I had SPD last time. Im making a point of sleeping with a pillow between my knees, and ensuring I don't cross my legs and when I get out of bed put both feet on the floor at the same time and very slowly get up. Im hoping these will prevent if not delay getting it. oh and not putting my weight on one hip (typical Q stance)

Thanks bug I have the clothes but Im self conscious about the bump and well everything. I don't want to 'out' the bump until the 20 week scan so Im still wearing flowing scarfs etc (I have hundreds so looks very normal to others!

I hate getting bigger too especially before you have a definite bump! Does anyone have any tips for dealing with varicose veins? I don't have them normally but each time I've been pg I seem to get them and they've showed up even earlier this time Sad and they really hurt!

I get spd too and that showed up earlier, the clicking and grinding are awful! Can't wait to get back to normal already lol.

I must admit I'm quite proud of my bump other than I can't believe how big it already is at 15 weeks.
My colleagues had guessed I was pregnant before I told them at 12 weeks as I had started wearing baggy clothes as i was already getting a bump!!
The bit I don't like is my bum and thighs getting bigger. I'm going to start doing more exercise now I have a bit more energy so hoping to keep the weight to a minimum but not going to get too hung up on it.
Another bit I do like is the bigger boobs! I'm normally quite small so I like the shale they become when I'm pregnant but I'm probably weird!!

Fairypants, edd 15th Sept, team yellow (so far!)

I've been working on project SPD the last couple of days. DH got me a belt thingie yesterday which I've been wearing today- I think it's a bit better but not sure. I've also just been to an osteopath which was loverly! I've been doing all the right things, I just have very squishy joints normally so it's kicked in already at 15 weeks. I me feeling hopeful I can get by without it getting too debilitating this time though.

I'm really round if my bump and much happier now I can wear fitted maternity clothes. I also like the t-shirts with logs which make it obvious- just in case people think I've just got a pot bellyGrin

EDD 9th Sept Team Yellow for now

It is a struggle adapting to the changing body, have had a few tears about it in recent weeks! Starting to get more bumpy rather than just fat now, so that helps. We're all in it together!

SPD sounds horrid, keeping my fingers crossed I don't get that Confused

Can anyone recommend where to get some nice bump hugging clothes from? And what did you get? I want to embrace the bump! Grin. My main problem is finding suitable trousers/jeans. Got some jeans but they fall down a bit even though my arse and hips are also getting bigger!! Haha.

Hello again.

Got my downs test back, low risk 1 in 13000.

Got thrush :( and I think piles is that normal, never had it before!

Had to give in and buy some maternity jeans today. Thought my next size up jeggings would last a couple more weeks but they have been super tight on bump today. Looking forward to putting them & a proper maternity top on tomorrow and giving bump some room.

I think piles is a very common joy of pregnancy cookie. I have suffered from them pre pregnancy but luckily have been fine so far since being pg! Hopefully these won't be my famous last words....... Hmm

Meant to say thanks to rockin for doing the new stats list btw :)

topmammy I've got some great maternity jeans from New Look. Over the bump ones but the elasticated part fits very well. Did get a size up though for a bit of give in the legs!

Sorry don't know how to make it bold here

Just signing in after a few days, love the chatty group, so many topics... I am on pregnancare and am bloated... I have bought 3 for 2 pregnanecare from boots and it was expensive, should I really give it up??

Bex, I am the same and have been since a few days ago...

Ladies, I am desperate for feeling some movement really... I am trying to keep positive and think everything is going fine, but would be so good to have some prove! I am 17+4, have felt a little bit of flutter (I think) but I can't even be sure if this is the little one moving... Where should I feel the movements ?

We got our downs screening back today too, low risk 1 in 38000 which I am really pleased with. First day in new super comfy maternity trousers and avoiding carbs during the day and I'm much less bloated tonight so a good day all round.

I'm struggle with feeling a bit porky though Sad I have worked so hard over the last year or so to lose weight it's a bit disheartening to see it going back on, but just have to keep reminding myself it's for a good reason and I can lose it again after

dontevenblink I'm sure starting from the beginning is NZ is the last thing you need, especially if you are a basket case like me! GP has referred me for cognitive behaviour therapy as in his words "you're going to drive yourself mental if you carry on like this for the next five months". At least he's honest!

Bexboo This is number four and in my experience your nipples already know they will soon belong to someone else and act out accordingly. Also recommend lansinoh - not cheap at about £12 a tube but you only need a tiny bit and it's brilliant.

Nazly The first movements will feel quite low down, and you will probably need to be sitting still and quietly to be able to feel them. Some people describe it feeling like a butterfly fluttering it's wings, but to me the first movements feel a bit like I need to fart lol - you know those kind of inside gas bubbles. Don't worry if you don't feel anything yet though, lots of people don't feel anything until at least 20 weeks, I think my sister was 22 weeks before she felt anything even with her second baby.

Had meeting with work today, going back to work after maternity leave from DC3 on Mon 7th April, will be going back on maternity leave for this one at the end of July - whoops!

Thank you nazly and tea...where will I get it from?! I'm also noticing that the skin on my tummy is very dry so going to get a good moisturiser to start rubbing on my tummy to prepare my skin and hopefully avoid stretch marks...any recommendations?

I'm sure I've seen some of that cream in Mothercare Bex. And at the mo I'm using Clarins body moisturizer with Shea butter in it. Usually rub some on after showering so getting into a good routine with it now. No idea if it will stop stretch marks but my skin feels nice and soft for ages after using it so fingers crossed!

Fairypants · 28/03/2014 23:18

You should be able to get Lansinoh from big boots and mothercare and some supermarkets etc. it will be with baby or feeding stuff.
I have a huge collection of body lotions that have come in sets or ive bought cos they smell nice and never used so I'm just working my way through that for now. I may get some specific bump stuff if I start running out.

Teabiscuits · 28/03/2014 23:20

Bex Boots should have lansinoh, I have even found it in a small Boots pharmacy.

I used Palmers cocoa butter stretch mark cream for my first any didn't get ANY stretch marks :), but I didn't bother with second or third and still don't have a single one, so I don't think the cream had any magical effects, I'm just very lucky! I do however have awful varicose veins on both legs now so I paid in other ways. Lots of people use bio-oil though.
