Hi, I'm back from the wedding and am now still very very tired.I am currently desperate for a big mac so will be popping out but I will be around later as I have to get on with my planning for work so happy to chat.
Welcome snugglebumnappies

peachygirl · 17/09/2006 16:32

no one around then?

flowertot · 17/09/2006 16:45

Can anyone help - am going to a posh and trendy party in London in about a month. I will 21 weeks. So far just have smallish bump - still at the looking a bit fat stage rather than anything else. Its a black tie do and I want to look a million dollars!! (or as near as.....)
I am sure I could fit in a 'normal' dress but maybe maternity would be a better fit? I am about size 10 so think rather than something baggy to disguise I would like something tight to emphasise bump so there is not the 'is she or isn't she' debate. But having said that, I don't mean tarty tight, just flattering tight. Any ideas where I can look - online if poss. Don't know much about maternity clothes I have just bought a few bits from H and M as am quite tight when I know its for such a short time. However don't mind spending a bit more on this dress even though it will only be worn once. Well once by me, anyone is welcome to it after that!

Tommy · 17/09/2006 16:54

M&S? TBH I don't particularly like them but they're not that expensive

Next have some reasonable stuff too.

Mothercare catalogue have some smart tops and dresses but their catalogue "service" is appaling so I wouldn't reccommend it!

peachygirl · 17/09/2006 17:03

Hi I would go for comfort, This weekend I squeezed into a pair of normal trousers with the button undone but when got to the reception I had to change into my old faithful elesticated waist linen trousers!
Have you looked at blooming marvellous or jojo I think their prices are reasonable. I bought a couple of tops in the US for this wedding thinking they would do for Christmas parties as well.

Tommy · 17/09/2006 17:05

just seen these in Dorothy Perkins which are reasonable too

I need something smartish too - my last time's smartish seems a bit old fashioned now!

peachygirl · 17/09/2006 17:11

ther's some really nice tops there tommy

flowertot · 17/09/2006 17:44

Any more ideas? want something really special and none of those have quite the wow factor i want. Will go check out john lewis and debenhams

Tommy · 17/09/2006 17:48

you probably will have to go a bit more expensive then I would have thought - like formes or whatever it's called. I keep getting emails from one place that I'd never heard of - will try and find it

Tommy · 17/09/2006 17:50

here
HTH

flowertot · 17/09/2006 17:50

Formes oh yes thats another one I had forgotten of. Thanks. Happy to go more expensive for this and get something that fits really well and I feel great in

peachygirl · 17/09/2006 17:59

I found debenhams quite disappointing last time I went in. The red herring range seemed to entirely consist of combat trousers!

DrJo · 18/09/2006 09:12

Hey Plumpbumb - do you think we could set up a Revels exchange scheme - I love the orange and coffee ones and hate the toffee/peanuts

soundbites · 18/09/2006 11:00

Welcome Snugglebumnappies! Cute name ?

I'd be in favour of a breakaway meet-up too. As I said, I feel a bit fake (i.e. not a mum yet) and a bit daunted to go the other one. (And it might be less of an expense just before Christmas shopping gets underway as Tommy implied.) London would make sense for me ? anyone else? ? although I know it doesn't suit our girls up north!

Flowertot - if you don't mind spending a bit, I love the Isabella Oliver stuff, but haven't felt yet that I could justify spending money on their clothes! They are gorgeous. They do come up on ebay ever so often so might be worth a look there.

snugglebumnappies · 18/09/2006 12:42

Hi soundbite, thanks for that, it's actually the name of my real nappy retail buisness, named after my DD who was also known as snugglebum!
I just wanted to see if I am the only one peeing for England (or wherever you would be peeing for!) in the middle of the night. My DH mumbles "you ok?" everytime I get up in the night and all he gets back is a string of expletives about how fed up I am of being woken up by the need to pee. Guess that's the peril of baby number three, pelivic foor is nowhere to be seen!

soundbites · 18/09/2006 12:53

Snugglbumnappies - you are someone I ought to be chatting with then! I really want to go down the washable nappies route, being keein on recylcling and being green. I have read a few reviews and so far Tots Bots seem to be in the lead. I will google your website.

I usually have to get up once a night at the moment - usually about 3am. Doesn't sound nearly as bad as you though ?

scoot2 · 18/09/2006 13:10

I am also very interested to know more about cotton nappies - particularly the ones with the flushable bit inside. Does this make them less green than the wash everything type?

I have bought stuff from Isabella Oliver, and bearing in mind price, have been a little disappointed as the quality doesnt seem to be great. I dont't know if its me, but I have the smooth trousers and they will not stay up so would definitely not recommend. I do think the dresses look lovely (and are unlikely to be affected by falling down issues.)

julezboo · 18/09/2006 14:25

Hiya all

Sorry I havnt posted in a while! Hope everyone is well. We are just awaiting our 20 week scan now on the 5th oct, not that far off.

Snuggle- Im with you on the peeing, dp asked me last night when i got up "where are you going" I snapped back "where do i usually go 100 times a night" LOLit was mean of me and its not really 100 times a night but sure feels like it!!!

18 weeks today and the movements are started to feel more real

hope everyone is well x x

snugglebumnappies · 18/09/2006 14:49

Hi soundbites, if you can't find us by googling then feel free to CAT me. I love Tots Bots however there are some other nappies that I also love and I find more practicle for different situations. I think the best thing is to buy one of a few types and try them out as all babies are different and therefore some types of real nappies work better for them than others!
Yes I am up aboout five times a night at the moment, starting to worry it may be twins as not had a scan yet!
Hi scoot2, I think any little bit less that you put in the landfill is always a very positive thing. I am not sure if you are just talking about real nappies that have a paper liner or the ones that have a disposable pad, obviously you can just flush the liner down the loo and most of them are biodegradable, I don't know too much about the ones with disposable pads, I thnk the pads are made by Moltex and are also biodegradable I did read on one real nappy site that you can compost these, but you would need a huge composter for the ammount you would get through!

angelfaces · 18/09/2006 16:13

Peachygirl - try topshop maternity B, mamas and papas, isabella Oliver or Swells...not sure if swells do online tho..?

flowertot · 18/09/2006 17:17

I found a fab dress online last night - really beautiful. Was about £140 so thought I'd better show DH first and now I can't find the website anywhere. Have absolutely no idea what it was called. Must have found it via google so can't understand why I can't find it again. Soooo typical as its the only dress I have seen that I think looks great

peachygirl · 18/09/2006 17:19

Hi all I'm only up once or twice of a night at the moment. I know this will increase!!
I'm up for a London meet.. I keep mentioning on the other thread about having a sofa bed if anyone would be interested.
Thanks angelfaces. I bought a few bits while on holiday in the states and have just been given a pair of nice maternity jeans.
My main worry is T shirts and tops for work as I do tend to get messy, ofeten coming home covered in paint, snot, dribble, even a bit of blood today so I can't often make tops last more than one day like some people can. I know next do 3 tops for about £25 but I don't generally find their fit a very good one and when I looked at them in my local store the security tag was through the necks of all three so you couldn't try them on Grrrr.

DontCallMeYummy · 18/09/2006 17:27

flowertot - I've not looked at 'maternity' clothes yet but a friend swears by the following when glamming up for a night out - the Jane Austen-esque empire line dresses/tops which have loads of room below the bust for bump and low-ish cut v-neck tops because they flatter the swelled bosoms. As nowadays we Pregnants get to flaunt as opposed to hide our baby pouches I am looking forward to getting some wear out of a printed wrap-dress I bought when ITB (incredible talking baby) was but a twinkle...

DontCallMeYummy · 18/09/2006 17:33

Oh, and I'm up all night running to and from the bathroom - am thinking of fitting a DIY catheter and feeding the pipe out of my bedroom window as so to fertilise the garden below.

flowertot · 18/09/2006 18:29

Love the catheter idea Yummy. I just feel permanently tired and its not late nights its just the continual disturbances.
FOund my dress again - hooray! - but don't know how to do links on here or I would show you
