For those of us due February 2007 and moving from the first to the second trimester ...

We've made it this far - only another 6 months to go! (Gulp!)

what a great baby you have Don'tcallmeyummmy
Sorkycake - outrageous - hope you had a suitable witty answer for them or are you like me and think of one 20 mins later?

We told the DSs about the baby at the weekend - DS1 in particular is so excited! He really wants a sister. DS2 wanted to know how it would come out - I said through a hole that's specially made for babies to come out of and he seemed quite happy with that

shhhh · 15/09/2006 14:40

dcmy, now what a good mother you are!! Hope your day is going as planned..Revels and a beanbag..?! Just wait until dc arrives, it will then be while watching tubbies or tweenies or pocoyo lol..! Thats how my days are spent now with dd..!

Well all went well at Wednesdays scan, thankgod. The scan seemed to take an age..well 25 mins of pocking and prodding is an age and an uncomfortable one at that BUT at least all looks like it's going to plan.
We also found out that dc is going to be a boy. A huge shock I must admit, having dd I know the ins and outs of a girls but a boy...where do I start ..! I am now just looking for names as we honestly didn't expect a boy so only have around 30 girls names ..! Ideas would be welcome..!

On the weight gain front. I am currently around 6lbs heavier at 20 weeks BUT I did have baby weight from dd still to loose..around a stone. But tbh I know that it's beyone my control and my body is doing what it needs to do to prepare for the bith and baby's arrival.

CurrantBun · 15/09/2006 14:49

DCMY, your posts do make me laugh! Wish my baby would start 'talking' to me too. Got up 10 minutes earlier this morning (6:20am - the middle of the night) as I had a 9 o'clock meeting at work and wanted to make sure I was in on time. Thanks to the cr*ppy Tube I walked into the building at dead on 9:00 and by the time I'd been to the loo (waiting was not an option) I was a few minutes late for my meeting. The only plus beingt hat I'd printed out all the paperwork I needed last night before I left so at least I didn't arrive unprepared.

That was then followed by another meeting and arranging an office move for someone, so all in all not the best wind-down towards the weekend.

BUT I have a week off work next week so won't have to see 6:30am for another 8 days! Under sufferance, I made an appointment to see the dietician at the hospital after being referred by the registrar on Monday. Am still incensed but hubby is coming with me to confirm that I do actually eat astronomical proportions of food, I'm just naturally very small. Have even been keeping a food diary as evidence that I do actually eat!

Hi i agree what a lucky lady to have such a vocal baby. 'we' have been feeling really tired today. Two nights out in London town(one nice theatre and one meeting) have taken their toll.
Me and DH are off to a wedding tomorrow so I might have a little swig of champers, my first alcohol since the pregnancy. I'll probably be on the floor within minutes!!
soundbites that sounds good The saturday is best for me too, hopefully they will have some free stuff left. Even if I get a friend to come we could meet. Shall we liase in a cuple of weeks?? Anyone else interested..

soundbites · 15/09/2006 17:28

Thanks Peachy - lets get in touch again in a fortnight or so. My e-mail is [email protected] if we fail to track each other down on here.

While on the topic of meeting up, does anyone plan to go the Christmas Meet up ? I don't know if I am brave enough, expecially not being a bona fide mum yet!

Have a great weekend all ?

peachygirl · 15/09/2006 17:32

I'm hopefully going to that too , at least my name is down. I think Tommy is too But I haven't spoken to her about it.

peachygirl · 15/09/2006 17:49

sorry I got it wrong about tommy. Many apologies

Tommy · 15/09/2006 18:52

are my ears burning?!

Won't be making rhe Christmas Meetup - looks fun but a bit expensive for me with Christams and everything

Just a quick one - how may of your are feeling movemnts? I'm 18 weeks today and haven't felt anything yet

sorkycake · 15/09/2006 19:48

No witty reply but yes loads afterwards on the way home!
Hope her next sh!t is a hedgehog

peachygirl · 15/09/2006 20:07

Hi tommy I'm 18 weeks on monday and I haven't felt anything yet either

suzi2 · 15/09/2006 20:07

shhh congrats on your boy! even though I was pretty sure DS was a boy before we found out at 20wks, we couldn't think of any names. We then decided on Alexander, Adam or Andrew. And changed our minds at 39wks and DS is called Logan (Andrew as a middle name).

This time we have some ideas but have decided to worry about it at 39 wks as otherwise we'll just change our mind.

Tommy · 15/09/2006 20:16

ooooh names!!!!

we still have the girl's name left over from DS1 and 2 although I might be shifting on that a bit.
Have no idea what to call it if it's another boy (which I'm sure it will be)

DontCallMeYummy · 15/09/2006 20:57

Have investigated this Xmas Meet Up thing but won't we February Pregnants all just be stuck in the corner, resting our fat bellies on the bar whilst sipping cranberry juice and wafting away the cigarette smoke? I like the idea of meeting fellow Mumsnetters and especially fellow February Pregnants though so wouldn't it be a good idea to have an additional meet up somewhere more Pregnants-friendly and maybe at an hour less likely to cause ankle swelling and spontaneous narcolepsy? Not that I'm trying to form a February 2007 Breakaway Republic but come Xmas I reckon I'd trade all the gin in London for a nice chat about mastitis and baby names over a cup of tea and a comfy sofa.

sorkycake · 15/09/2006 20:57

I like logan
Are you thinking traditional or celeb style names?

Tommy · 15/09/2006 22:34

the DSs both have traditional names (Biblical) which aren't particularly trendy IYSWIM so number 3 would have to fit it with those - it's not going to be a Wayne or Chardonnay
(aplogies to anyone who has chosen those names )

babydrivertoo · 15/09/2006 22:43

hi everyone! LOL at this week's posts.

I'm 20 weeks now - so half way through and beginning to worry about the million and one things not yet done. Have got a very extensive mental list of them but somehow haven't managed to actually do any of them.

Not yet had any messages like DCMY's bump but might happen soon... In the meantime, I've got the next scan to look forward to on Thursday.

Not sure about the big meet up - went last time and it was fun but I'm inclined to think I'll be too knackered this time. Breakaway option with beanbags and revels might be a good idea though.

As to names, AAGH. I know exactly what to call it if it's a girl (which I think it will be) but we're stuck if it's a boy. We used the only names we liked and agreed upon for DS so goodness only knows what we'd call a second boy.

Is anyone else doing any antenatal hypnotherapy? I got a CD from the natal hyp folk in the NCT catalogue and the pg relaxation one is very nice once you get used to it.

Plumpbump · 16/09/2006 10:20

I'm sorry everyone, but surely Revels are RUINED by the coffee and orange ones??????

Plumpbump · 16/09/2006 10:24

Congrats to all who are at the halfway point! And for the little boy Sshhhh! I am just over 17 weeks now and looking forward to scan at beginning of October.

flowertot · 16/09/2006 11:39

I am soooo with you on the revels front plumpbump. Its such a disappointment everytime you bite into a soft one!
You going to find out the sex at the scan?

Plumpbump · 16/09/2006 14:33

Our hospital won't tell us, Flowertot! Which kind of takes the decision out of ours hands! DH is convinced that if the little un takes after him and is a boy, it will be "obvious". Hmmmmm......!

suzi2 · 16/09/2006 15:20

lol at the Revels. I'm allergic to nuts so it would be like russian roulette for me!

Plumpbump, our DS was VERY obvious at the 20 wk scan and again when we had a 4D one at 26wks. I think DH was very pleased and said he takes after his dad! He was then slightly larger than expected when born but the midwife said it was all hormones. Anyway, within a month or two it shrivelled to really quite wee by comparison to other wee boys. DH is now saying that didn't come from his side of the family lol!

shhhh · 16/09/2006 16:55

suzi2 lol about the "boys tackle" comments. What is with men and "producing" a boy and obsessed with the size of their tackle..?? Baffles me.!

Well I won't be at the christmas meet up as I'm not a southerner, from oopp north (you know where it rains a LOT..!). Would love to meet everyone but hey ho. Also counts me out for the baby show although I would have loved a nosey even though I'm a 2nd time mum..

Also agree about the bit regarding fancying something better than a pub gathering etc. I have yet another wedding in 3 weeks time and I would rather stay in bed all day..! Sods law..when non pregant last year aftre only just having dd we had how many wedding invites...0..When pregnant with dd we had how many wedding invites.........2. and now the size of a whale (already) we have how many wedding invites....3. Is someone having a luagh at my expense..!???

Well still stuck for baby names. TBH we would love "trendy" celeb type one BUT not too ott iykwim. Nothing like Apple or banana .!! LOL.

God boys names as so much harder to find than girls..sighh...

DontCallMeYummy · 16/09/2006 18:59

I agree about Revels Russian Roulette, for me one sneaky raisin can spoil a whole bag. So why not make your own? Take a bag of maltesers (come on, what's not to like about maltesers?), some minstrels, choc-covered peanuts / banana chips / coffee beans etc, truffles, maybe even squish some rolos into round shapes. Put in a jar, shake it all about et voila - Bespoke Revels.
Why Nigella Lawson has a lucrative cookery book and tv career and I don't is a mystery to me.

flowertot · 16/09/2006 20:49

I'd buy a bag of our pick and mix anyday Yummy. Please send me ordering details!

snugglebumnappies · 17/09/2006 08:16

Hi,
Have just found mumsnet and thought I might join the thread. Am 18 weeks ish (have lost count) with baby number three, DS nearly 11 and DD 18 months. Am planning a home water VBAC for sometime around mid Feb to early Mar, feeling a bit laid back about this one (officially....from my dates, due 26th Feb so just squeeze into this group). Haven't had any scans or anything yet but have a anomoly scan booked for 23rd October.
dontcallme...would love to know the problem with tofu as I eats loads of it, but ask DOD to keep it simple as I am no nutritional expert!
