welcome snugglebum. I bought loads of real nappies with DS. Full of very good intentions. But difficult breastfeeding, baby with awful colic and once a week poos meant that we never really got into them. feel eternily guilty to the environment (keep thinking I'm ruining DSs planet!) so might give it a shot this time. I did like the diddy diaper (not sure if you sell those) on him though! Mind you, it was diddy and didn't last long!

peeing for Scotland here too. My mum is well chuffed that she has her 'loo buddy' back as I need to go almost as often as her!

Peachy - I got great stuff in Next outlet and M&S sale but it's a hit or a miss as to what they have in. I have bought 4 vest tops, 4 long sleeve tops, 4 'dressy' tops (2 of each!), 1 shirt, 2 pair 'work' trousers, 2 pairs jeans, 2 pair combats, 2 cardis. All for £140. My mum went mad on M&S online sale when things went to £3 for me! And the rest I picked up in Next outlet. Keep an eye out for those sales!

babydrivertoo · 18/09/2006 22:11

flowertot, you might also take a look at seraphine - I've bought a suit from them, and some yoga trousers and a cotton jumper in their sale and all are v comfy and nice-looking although the suit trousers do like trying to slip down.

I had no idea M&S did maternity (other than tights that fall down) but having looked at the selection it didn't do a lot for me.

Right, DH just told me we have to clear up and go to bed, so I'd best be off before he whips out the computer cable. House of the early night here, ever since DS.

Good rest of the week to all.

snugglebumnappies · 19/09/2006 12:01

Hi suzi2, I do stock diddy diapers, just not got them up on the site yet! They tend to be popular as they are a good fit for newborn and not too expensive.

Can I ask if anyone was given a copy og Babygroe, a magazine on environmental issues and raising a family, when they booked at the hospital, apparantly it is supposed to be given out at must antenatal clinics (I paid a fortune to advertise in it this year!) but have a feeling it issn't distributed quite as widely as it should be. If anyone has a free minuite to let me know which hops they booked at and whether they got a copy or not I would be really grateful.....sorry to highjack the thread for this.

Alocin · 19/09/2006 12:38

I got the baby groe magazine at my first visit to dr. Very informative and a great antidote to all the over commercial stuff that fell out of the pack. I'm new by the way! 18 weeks 2 days and weeing about 5 times a night!

soundbites · 19/09/2006 12:45

Snugglebumnappies - I got one in the pack with my notes in at my first scan (Princess Royal Hospital), and picked up the next edition at Crowborough Birthing Centre when we had a look round. I like them. Meant to drop you a line because I was putting all the baby papers and leaflets in a folder last night (DH had got fed up of them being strewn all over the coffee table) and picked it up and opened it to your ad. Was amazed at the coincidence as I had just been 'chatting' to you yesterday!

Welcome Alocin!

soundbites · 19/09/2006 12:48

P.S. Sorry, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath (there are probably a few of them!).

Alocin · 19/09/2006 15:05

Thank you soundbites! Got mine from Dr - but hospital is Hinchingbrooke in Huntingdon PCT.

DontCallMeYummy · 19/09/2006 15:39

I was given a copy of Babygroe at UCH (London).

flowertot · 19/09/2006 16:36

soundbites - are you planning for birth at Crowborough Birthing Centre? Its lovely isn't it. I did my ante natal classes there with DD1 and hoped to have her there. In the end went to Pembury Hospital in Tunbridge Wells but really like the atmosphere at Crowborough

Pumpkin20 · 19/09/2006 16:46

Hi All

Sorry I haven't posted for ages - glad to see everyone's OK.

I'm 18 wks and feeling pretty perky at the mo. I've started to feel the baby wriggling about and it's put a permanent silly grin on my face. I was starting to fret last week when I hadn't felt anything (even though I know it's way early). I even borrowed a nurses's stethoscope which was useless, not nearly powerful enough - I couldn't even hear my own heartbeat.

Also, I'm loving the maternity wear - elasticated waists are brilliant! Wore a pair of over-bump trousers out to dinner on Sat night and you can just keep on eating - so comfy. And the best bit is we don't need to try and hold our tummys in when we get up to go to the loo (does this liberation outweigh the restriction of having to get up to go to the loo about 6 times during the meal?). I'm wearing the same trousers today at work - I feel like I'm wearing pyjamas.

I'm sure the discomfort will set in sooner or later, but is this the 'blooming' stage? Enjoying the freedom of 'letting it all hang out'?

Small query - hairy tummies? Is this a pg symptom or am I just noticing it because my belly is sticking out more and the hair is catching the light in a different way? Not worried (makes a change), just curious.

Pumpkin x

soundbites · 19/09/2006 17:15

Hello Flowertot
Yes I am hoping to go to Crowborough Birthing Centre (if all goes according to plan, that is). I gave them a call a couple of weeks ago to see if I could book an appointment to go and see them and they suggested I come straight away as they were having a quiet Saturday morning! So off we went (measured how long it takes from our house: 35 mins) and spent about half an hour being given a tour. It was fabulous ? just what I hoped and it convinced DH too that is it the right place for me (he was thinking a hospital was better). It felt a very relaxed, welcoming sort of place. So when I see the midwife at our doctor?s surgery on 27 September, the day after my second scan, I plan to tell her I have decided to go there and see if I should book myself in or whether they prefer to do it. I need to decide whether to transfer my antenatal appmts there too. What would you recommend?

flowertot · 19/09/2006 18:09

I had every other ante natal appt there which seemed a good idea. That way half of them were local which was easy and half were there giving me a chance to get to know some of the midwives there, and them me. However out of our ante natal group of 7 only one managed to deliver there so be warned! Any slight problem and you are sent away. My pregnancy was easy, normal and no problems but I went there in labour and they said I was bleeding a bit and had to go by ambulance to Pembury. Not much fun at 8cm dilated. At Pembury they said there was nothing to worry about and quite normal but they do tend to over react at Crow as obviously they don't want any complications with no medical support present. Of the others in my group, a couple were induced, a couple had emergency caesars, one had too little fluid round baby and can't remember the other. But think its quite common to hope to go there but not to quite make it!

shhhh · 19/09/2006 20:14

crumbs this thread explodes over days!!

Well I did order the isabella oliver dresses for a wedding..TBH I didn't like them, I to found the fabic to be poor quality and quite think and jersey like iykwim. Also found them way to "big". I'm only 4ft 11in and they drowned me... Ended up in a brill boutique called nunu in harrogate. Got another 2 wedding next month so I any on the look out again or may wear what I already have. TBH maternity dressy outfits are very few and far between..quite a shame..

sorkycake · 19/09/2006 21:56

Scan tomorrow, will hopefully know gender as well.

Wish me luck!

julezboo · 20/09/2006 13:36

good luck sorkycake!!

soundbites · 20/09/2006 15:25

Good luck Sorkycake too.

Flowertot - thanks for your words of caution about Crowborough. It is good to be prepared for the fact that I might not make it there, rather than set myself up for a disappointment. I must admit I am amazed that only 1 out of 7 actually had their baby there! No wonder they told me that they have never had to turn someone away through lack of beds / delivery rooms in the 5 years they have been operating.

Were you going to try and have baby no2 there this time?

peachygirl · 20/09/2006 16:17

Hi everyone.
Good luck for tomorrow sorkycake. Interesting talk about crowborough and pembury. My MIL lives very close by so I know both villages quite well and pembury hosp very well.Fil sadly died there and MIL spent time with the VWRS until it was closed quite recently.
I had a midwife appointment to day and everthing seems to be going well. The baby is the right size. I was weighed and I wasn't shocked at how much I had put on. and I heard the heartbeat chugging away!!

sorkycake · 20/09/2006 17:38

Scan fine, everything looks normal, confirmed it's a boy!

TuttiFrutti · 20/09/2006 18:25

Hello everyone, I'm back after 2 weeks holiday in Greece. I ended up swapping birth stories with some of the other mothers (why is this always inevitable??!). It's lovely to get back to Mumsnet though!

I'm bigger than ever now, and I've just spoken to someone on the phone who saw me 4 weeks ago and she said "I suppose you must have had the baby by now"!!! She couldn't believe it when I said it wasn't due till February.

flowertot · 20/09/2006 19:13

Soundbites, I hope I didn't scare you! I imagine our group was just unlucky but its as well to accept it may not happen there. It had never even occured to me and I didn't even bother looking round any of the hospitals. Didn't really matter as when you arrive heavily in labour you don't realy care!
I think I will just head straight to Pembury this time, was very happy there, had excellent treatment and because I had an epidural in the end I know I have the option again this time. Hopefully won't need it though. What I would say though if its first baby and you want to stay in for a few days after then Crowborough is lovely. They are so busy at Pembury that they can't offer you such personal service whereas at Crow if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all they can really be there for you. Even if you don't actually deliver there if you are booked in you can go after the birth, provided they have a spare bed
