Hurrah for crumpet lovers misskate and elliekins! They seem to really hit the spot at about 2am too...

Alita I'm totally repulsed by celeriac, had it the week I started to feel sick and think that will be my lemon fish. I don't think I'll ever eat it again.

Also paranoiafest over here, spent an hour last night reading about molar pregnancies before before bed. Ridiculous.

Roll on scan in 2 weeks.

Elliekins · 02/04/2014 17:18

That's great Annarose, it's so wonderful, especially when you've been despairing.
I feel terrible for those that have been struggling for months and years, it must be unbearable. I have two friends who have been trying everything for several years with no luck and I feel guilty for succeeding so quickly, especially after my dramatics.
I know it's silly and they'll be pleased but so it's sad for them, they were so supportive when I told them of my doom and gloom prognosis.
I love the term 'military grimness'; when DP conceded it was now or never to TTC he had a horrible case of man-flu and I have to confess we conceived without actually even kissing!
Who ever said romance was dead?

Greenstone · 02/04/2014 17:21

I refuse to worry about one coffee a day, Petal. I'm not drinking it right now because I really don't fancy it, but if I do again I'll certainly have a latte or whatever a day. I found that in the third trimester last time I was necking so much raspberry leaf tea to prepare for labour that caffeine didn't get as much of a look in! If you're low risk, don't stress.

Averaging about one cup of strong Irish breakfast tea these days. But had a cup of hot chocolate there too which was nice at the time but slightly less so now it's in my stomach.

Greenstone · 02/04/2014 17:24

Oh yeah and vegetables, WHY do they taste so gross in the first trimester? Most inconvenient and unreasonable on nature's part I would have thought.

booksshoescats · 02/04/2014 17:26

You're all making me laugh this afternoon with the stories of high drama, military sex and food aversions. All so familiar!

Petal - re caffeine, I'm having an occasional cup of coffee - had one today and one on at the weekend. Don't fancy it much generally, but every now and again it's giving me a pick-me-up, and I have one or two cups of green tea a day and a couple of cans of Coke a week. I suppose my feeling is that if you feel like it and it's not making you anxious to do so then a bit won't hurt. If it's worrying you to do it, though, it's probably not worth the anxiety. Not very scientific, but I'm all for going with your gut. It's served me right on all three pregnancies (so far).

amy83firsttimer · 02/04/2014 17:27

Booking appointment done today. All feels a lot more real and exciting now. Just 4 weeks ish til scan then I think (hope) the worries will ease. Had good chat with my mum too and just hearing in her voice how happy and relaxed she is about the whole thing reassures me no end. Eeeeeek!!! 7+5?

booksshoescats · 02/04/2014 17:28

Greenstone - Agree. The midwife looked a bit horrified at my booking-in yesterday when I told her the thought of healthy food made me feel sick. I had to quickly backtrack and say my diet wasn't that bad, which it isn't (I have, in fact, just eaten an apple Grin), but I think she was picturing me living on McDonalds or something. It's all relative, isn't it?

Annarose2014 · 02/04/2014 17:41

Oh God......I can imagine the midwife asking me about my diet and DH beside me letting the cat out of the bag with an enormous snort of laughter.

He thinks my piggery is absolutely hilarious. "I didn't realise the cure for morning sickness was DRIVE-THRU! HAWHAWHAW!!!"

.....if he says that at the antenatal appt the fucker will rue the day!!

booksshoescats · 02/04/2014 17:53

It's not drive thru, Annarose, it's pickled onion Monster Munch. You've obviously been doing it wrong.

I SO wanted MacDonalds at lunchtime today. I'm properly salivating now. I am not going to be able to get it out of my head until I have it - DH is going to be so happy when I tell him that's what we have to have for dinner. He just remembered the other day that he put on 10 pounds on the pregnancy diet last time - he didn't look too upset at the prospect of going on it again, though.

Emzzy26x · 02/04/2014 17:55

Heeeeeey all :)
Im due 8th Nov :) can I join the crew???? :-D

Elliekins · 02/04/2014 18:16

Welcome Emzzy and congratulations!
I justified a mint cornetto earlier on the premise that mint was known to be good for nausea, and because I too can proudly say I have consumed an apple today (and a 1/3rd of a yucky blueberry smoothie that made me retch attractively in front of the cashier in BHS(!) while buying a completely hideous non-under wired bra).
What fun we're all having!

MabelMay · 02/04/2014 18:31

Anyone else ridiculously weepy and hormonal? These early pregnancy symptoms are make me feel very un-human. Exhausted, nauseous and now I'm crying at everything.

Also frustrating to not be able to tell friends etc as feel like I'm hiding away as too tired for stuff, can't drink, and just general feel like crap. Plus am piling on the pounds already.
Am I the only one who's a bit of an emotional wreck?

8+6 - due date 6th Nov.

Elliekins · 02/04/2014 18:45

Mabel I am hilariously emotional too, have gained at least 7lbs to baby's 1 fricking gram, I hold it together pretty well all day and then weep without fail between 8-9pm every single night - last night the tragic fate of fish in my fishfingers set me off and the DP's laughter at my tears compounded my usual nuts evening routine of flouncing weepily upstairs. That and the fact he still hasn't read the next chapter of the 'Pregnancy for blokes' book, at the time it was tantamount to child neglect.
I have also had a nap most lunchtimes when the child I nanny for sleeps.
I'm a happy, nauseous, terrified, weepy mess, only humour and dolly mixtures is getting me through!

alita7 · 02/04/2014 18:48

Welcome Emzzy!

Well after ditching the seabands last night after frantically worrying about yesterdays lack of symptoms, today has been fraught with awful nausea... thankfully, and I only remembered my sea bands on the bus on the way to get dinner and so had to wait until I got home. We had subway, which I am managing by having a little bit at regular intervals (key word being managING- it has so far taken me nearly an hour :p) I'm surprised I didn't look like shrek when I got off that bus...
Luckily subway had recently put new syrup in their coke machine and it was so sweet it was brilliant for reducing the nausea.

We have only had 2 home cooked meals (I do not include pizza or food you only heat up in this) in the past 2 weeks I think- because I just can't do it... some of my meals have been just baked beans or hoops but at least I can eat unlike some women!

Books- your midwife is ignorant- most of the women she sees must have the same problem- I refuse to discuss my eating with anyone who isn't pregnant or dp- even if they have been pregnant, they say you forget quickly and I must say, although with my mmc things were not this bad, I had forgotten a bit!

Very happy for all those who conceived with fertility problems- I was so worried I would have problems after trying for 6 months (not that long compared to some people but quite a while for a 20 year old!) though it was probably due to coming off the pill. We also had some military occasions, dp has a health condition which can sometimes surface after sex so if we have to do something important later or the next day or he's got the kids round, then sex really isn't something he wants to do, which made ttc difficult when I was ovulating inconveniently! Ellie don't feel bad- I'm sure they would love to have conceived quickly, I'd like to think I wouldn't begrudge anyone else a baby even if I had fertility problems, though babies might upset me a bit.

wow this post is long sorry guys!

PosyFossilsShoes · 02/04/2014 19:20

I met a four year old once who would only eat "white food" which I thought at the time was ridiculous (he did make an exception for nutella in his white bread sarnies though.) Now I think he may have had a point. All I've eaten recently is rich tea biscuits, porridge, yoghurt, plain jacket potato, mashed potato and bread. DP cooked me egg and beans on toast the other evening and I managed most of the egg and toast but the beans tasted of metal. I'm going to be adventurous tonight and try some rice.

AlpacaYourThings · 02/04/2014 19:21

Hi all, took another pregnancy test this morning and it was much stronger than last week so I'm really hoping that I am earlier than I thought. Fingers crossed Smile

barmybunting · 02/04/2014 19:23

winter, yes I find the cramps worse during the week with work. I spend much of the day on my feet with teaching, and can really feel the cramps by the end of the day. Weekends however, when I'm trying to keep things quiet, I barely feel them. I find sitting down for a while helps but they do worry me a bit.

Yes to the food aversions! Dh and I are normally pretty good about cooking from scratch but over the last few weeks, I've lived on cheese sandwiches, nuts, prawn cocktail crisps and apple juice. I managed to tackle cereal this morning and some corn last night with grapes thrown in occasionally but my diet is shocking at the moment. I have come to the theory that I really don't care though because it makes me feel less sick, I can't stomach much else really! We are off to stay with my PILs in Ireland this weekend for a few days and I'm dreading the food side of things as my MIL is obsessed with feeding us up with loads of rich foods and potato with everything (Living true to the Irish love of potatoes in that house!) and she will not be impressed that I can't face her usual feasts!

amylou85 · 02/04/2014 19:23

Miskate I know what you mean about boobs! Mine seem to be less tender at night so I keep poking them too!!
winterlover Yes I find cramps get worse in the afternoon, I'm on my feet all day so think it's my body's way of telling me off!
mswombat so lovely to see your scan!

I started spotting 4 days after I found out, got sent to early pregnancy unit and have had an early scan at just 5 - 6 weeks. Was a little frustrating as I could only see the yolk sack so early on but everything looks good and spotting has stopped after 6 days PHEWPH! Going back Monday after next to hopefully see baby and heartbeat! Can't wait! Although I had no idea you had to have a full bladder before the ultrasound and spent minutes in bladder agony beforehand after drinking 2 bottles of water. I had to go and release some as when she pressed I couldn't bare it!!!! Took the shine off the scan a bit!!!

CarmineRose1978 · 02/04/2014 19:32

Mabel, I was just reading a funny blog by a slummy mummy and literally crying with laughter. Then suddenly I was crying with sadness because I can't tell my mum that I'm pregnant (she died four years ago). Then I was laughing at myself again... So yes. Mad mood swings here!

Just had to fight my cat off a bag of pickled onion monster munch. Sorry Kitty, baby wants pickles!

Thanks to those who commented on my orgasm question... Just to set the record straight, I haven't let my DP anywhere near me either. In part because I've had sinusitis and a urinary infection, and also because he's working away this week, but I had a dirty dream and used my little vibrating friend when I woke up... I love the idea that it's giving the baby a nice massage/hug but poor DP is one-off if he thinks he's getting any when he comes home because it was too painful to go for a repeat performance!

Nessalina · 02/04/2014 19:35

Hello all Smile
I'm feeling much more chipper lately, though still very sleepy and dippy-brained!!
I too am eating absolute crap, glad it's not just me. I had crackers with bovril for tea last night Blush I'm finding that I don't much fancy food, but it's not too bad once I dig in.
I've told my branch now, they'd so all guessed Confused When you spend 8hrs a day with three other women who've all had kids, it's a bugger keeping it secret. Bringing in the ginger nuts was the nail in the coffin Grin
I'm off caffeine altogether, but only because I've completely gone off tea and coffee, the taste revolts me, and I usually love them.
I'm getting horrible cramps when I do too much, and also when I sneeze. Feels like being kicked in the guts Shock
8+2

Due the 3rd of November 1st baba Grin

WinterLover · 02/04/2014 20:10

thanks barmy and amy makes me feel better Grin

pinkgirlythoughts · 02/04/2014 20:19

Ooh, Nessa, ditto to the pains when sneezing! I then panic that I've harmed the baby with my sneeze!

I've just had my first proper evening meal for about two weeks- I'm starving and sicky in the early evenings, pig out on crap, then can't face the thought of eating when it's actually tea time!

katies76 · 02/04/2014 20:32

Hi, so glad to see this thread. Im due 9th nov, happy to be pregnant but still in shock! Feeling sick all the time but hey ho. Anyone having headaches? Is it ok to take paracetamol?

ToonLass · 02/04/2014 20:38
