December 2014, anyone else yet?

So I got a stupidly early faint positive today at 9dpo when I should definitely know better after a chemical last month. According to the Calendar I'm due December 1st so I've decided to be massively optimistic and start this thread. Is there anybody put there?

imbrian - you will drive yourself crackers as these tests aren't designed to say how pg you are by the darkness of the line. You could try the Clearblue digital one instead? Or if you are worried phone your EPU and beg a scan? Hope you are ok

I think decaf tea is fine isn't it? I think a bit of caffeine is ok (hope so, given how much chocolate I eat)

Hello and congrats to the newbies!

I find if I exercise at night I sleep better. Although DC2 has been ill all week so it's a bit pointless even going to bed Easter Hmm

Minion · 18/04/2014 14:02

Yes yes yes to constipation. Urgh! And the wind cramps that go along with it.
Double urgh!
Since the day I tested I've been up 5:15' then 6:30 and just managing to get myself back to sleep for 2 hours after pootling about on t'interweb to relax myself.
I miss lie ins. On the occasion I do sleep past 6:30 I wake up needing to pee... Sod's law eh?

Anyone had a look at prams yet, we went today, getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but hey ho. We quite like the look of the joolz system. Pricey but it's a complete travel system with integrated sleeping cot.
Anyone else got any good ones?

PresidentSpreadable · 18/04/2014 14:19

Minion I am vaguely considering an Babystyle Oyster or Baby Jogger city mini. Not going to buy a travel system new though as will hopefully sling mostly and everyone I know has only used the carrycot for three months or so. Lots of barely used bargains on eBay!

Depends on where you live and how you travel mostly I suppose. We drive only drive occasionally and normally walk or tube/bus, so lightweight is high on our list of must haves. Plus I'm 5' and partner 6' 2" so it needs to have an adjustable handle!

cooperbug · 18/04/2014 14:32

I want to keep testing too as still symptomless here!

Have briefly looked at pushchairs on the internet, like the look of the joolz too and bugaboo buffalo but heard it's really heavy

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 18/04/2014 14:45

Still early, haven't looked into it yet but considering a sling, small & light weight as we live in a shoe box on the 3rd floor. OH is also quite a bit taller than me, I hadn't thought of that, thanks president

mopsytop · 18/04/2014 14:50

I would say if you're getting a travel system, buy second hand on eBay for cheap (loads on there cos so many ppl end up selling them). Hardly anyone I know uses them for long. I found separate car seat and buggy totally fine. Travel systems expensive, cumbersome and not worth the money as a general rule. Do lots of research on this and ask friends with kids before committing. They're often way more expense/hassle than they're worth from what I hear. Even better if you can borrow a pram for a few months do so, then see what you use it for and buy a buggy a few months in. I was fortunate enough to have a pram lent to me and I realised that I used it a lot for both local short walks and trips into town and for big treks in the local woods. So I really knew what I wanted when I bought my buggy (lightweight, three wheeler, cross country wheels but also narrow enough to bring on bus into town/move easily through shops). I ended up finding the perfect buggy (for me) because I had the extra time to really see how I used it (Mountain buggy swift for the record!).

Hi all!
Firstly, welcome to the newbies and really sorry for the others that had bad news.

After the brown spotting and the chest infection, I had a scan on Tuesday and saw a heartbeat. Although I thought I was due on 5th Dec according to my dates the scan measurements pushed me forward to 10th Dec.
ParanoidCoventGarden How are you? Thank you for asking about me- I've just been struggling with my emotions- am I happy? Am I sad? Am I just plain terrified? I've been getting quite bad palpitations- possibly because of the anxiety. I guess I'm scared of letting myself get excited at all but I realise that doesn't work really. By the way, is Covent Garden heaving with people today? I bet it's really looking pretty in the sunshine.

Big hugs to all!
Sx

Shanels · 18/04/2014 16:30

P.S. cineraria I'm 37 and my first too. Glad to have another 'oldie' on here. Wink

CallingAllEngels · 18/04/2014 16:53

I was going to hold off joining the thread for a week but I'm too excited!

Got a faint bfp last night and again this morning. AF not due till Sunday so only 3w+5 and early days.

CallingAllEngels DC2 EDD 28th December

FX for sticky beans and looking forward to getting to know you all.

ImBrian · 18/04/2014 19:33

Daddy pig it's too late I've driven myself nuts. Just did my 2nd asda test and it looks even fainter. I don't understand how in less then 12 hours it can go from darker then the control to really faint! Anyway that was my last on so no more. I'm hoping to see the doc this week so I'll ask for a referal to the epu to see if it's ok or not. I'm wishing I only did the first one now.

ImBrian · 18/04/2014 21:40

I've stepped away, I'm not peeing on any more sticks and stopping googling Smile

Thanks for the support ladies Flowers

Delurking, finally. Got faint BFP on Sunday when I tested a day early, and it's nearly killed me waiting all week to retest, but got unequivocal positive today.

This will be #2, and it was our first month of trying. This one due roughly 22nd December.

Hardly any symptoms so far (mildly achy boobs, some slight cramping), which is a pain because I'm finding it really tough not smoking this time. My body rejected cigarettes before I even found out I was pg with DD, but this time is going to be tougher

If this ends up like the AN thread I was on with DD, I won't be able to keep up but I'll add myself to the stats anyway and do my best Grin

Sheilathegreat · 19/04/2014 04:01

Ahh insomnia. Anyone else suffering? I had it with both previous pregnancies but don't remember it starting so early. Confused

CallingAllEngels · 19/04/2014 06:52

Hi stetsons

sheila I only got insomnia towards the end of the 2nd and in the 3rd trimesters last time. Was too knackered in the 1st (a trend that looks to continue as was up in the night with 2yr old ds!).

brian with my mc it took at least a week for my hcg to fall enough for a negative test, and with my 2nd mc it took months. Far more likely you're "too pregnant"!

Martie1 · 19/04/2014 07:24

Hi all it's me again- first thing in the morning!!!! So yes sheila I'm feeling your insomnia pain. Waiting til I get sleepy enough to drift off again. I'm cross though- I'm off on easter hols and can't even get a decent lie in!!

CallingAllEngels · 19/04/2014 07:57

I'm an hour ahead of you all (live in the Netherlands) but DS woke us up at 7am

First day of Easter Holidays here so of course I have a cold

Wanted to ask some exercise advice. I've been training 2-3 times a week for a 10 race in mid-May. Should I stop or just ease off and withdraw from race, or just go for it?

I'm not sure!

Kittykatmacbill · 19/04/2014 08:29

sheila I had the insomnia too, I haveidentified the following main (slightly odd) concerns:

  • no names seem faintly logical or sound nice with dd's name...
  • I can't spot a double buggy which I have a hope of being able to get in and out of our building. (4 big steps)
  • we will announce that we are pregnant about a month before SIL is due and I will have to go to BIL wedding 7 months pregnant... Both of which I feel (irrationally?) mean about...

brian rebuggy issues we have a bugaboo bee, which we picked for similar reasons small flat, 2nd floor (I can easily carry it and dd up steps still), and variable height handles. It's not great on cobbles but otherwise it's great Easter Grin

Kittykatmacbill · 19/04/2014 08:53

Thanks whats...
Just relooked at my post realised it doesn't realise that I know all things are very silly...

CallingAllEngels · 19/04/2014 09:04

kitty I'm a BM at my best friend's wedding in October, but have warned her we are ttc so she's known all along that I may be pg. The dress is a style that will hopefully work with a bump.

Why can't I for once look slim in wedding photos?! Was 7m pg at my own wedding and the only other time I've been a BM was for Dsis when DS was 1 and still hadn't lost baby weight, so looked like a heffalump next to my size 6 Dsis and the other 2 tiny BMs!

I think it's totally normal to worry about 'silly' things kitty especially when you have no idea how you will feel during pg, how other people wipl react, how everyhting will be after baby is born.

DS will be 3 by the time baby is born so double buggy won't be necessary, but maybe a buggy board woupd be a good idea?

dgift · 19/04/2014 09:53

@About, so sorry for ur loss.
Am also having serious insomnia.
Uptil now no symptoms yet.
5wks 2days. may likely go for scan at 6 weeks but earnestly wanted to wait till 12weeks but am not sure I can wait 'cauz am worried

chillychicken · 19/04/2014 11:53

Can they see anything on a scan at 6 weeks dgift?

I'm still umming and ahhing about an early scan. I'm 6+2 today and symptoms are dropping off a bit. Cramps are still here but less frequent and intense, nausea nowhere near as bad over the last day or two either. Boobs still a bit sore. Face covered in spots. Oh and I am in a bad mood pretty much constantly.

I had a go at a friend for speculating over why I wasn't drinking. I felt a bit mean after but I really don't want the world and his wife knowing yet.

Family over for a big meal tomorrow. Not going to be easy hiding the fact I'm not drinking!
