Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

I am definitely coming down with a cold. Feeling tired hot and miserable and I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow :(

dobedobedo · 12/03/2014 01:39

Love all the newbies and lurkers! Brew

I'm just awake for a gaviscon break and a pee. Again. You know, getting up with a baby in the night can't be all that different to now. Confused

I have a consultant appt in the morning. Hopefully he'll be happy with me and I can just be on my grumpy merry way. I wouldn't mind a growth scan though, just because baby is transverse and the midwife thinks measuring bump when he's lying like this is inaccurate. Also I'm like a giant ball of anxiety lately, it's not like me, so reassurance that he's okay in there would be nice!

Right, am off to try and get more sleep. Hope everyone is well!

Squiffie · 12/03/2014 07:23

Good morning people!!

Sorry to hear some of you are under the weather, I find it's always 100 times worse when you're pregnant especially because I'm a drama queen

Got my first appointment with the diabetic team this afternoon, well I say appointment, they said be here between 1 & 1:30 and expect to be here for a few hours Hmm

Hope everyone has a good day! [Smile]

Squiffie · 12/03/2014 07:24

Aww, smiley fail^^ lol Smile

dobedobedo · 12/03/2014 09:10

Just out of consultant appt. Baby is now head down, yay! Grin

Blood pressure is all over the place and kidneys are a bit "leaky" again so I have to just take it easy. (I'm sick of hearing people say that!)
However he measured my bump and it was measuring 35 weeks and I'm not yet 32. But a couple of weeks ago it was bang on for dates. Confused however baby was transverse then. It's got me a bit worried though. Do you think they'd want to do a growth scan? Unless maybe the baby has always been big and we didn't know because he was transverse. I am only 5ft 4 and dh is a foot taller than me so maybe that's why?

Ugh pregnancy is like nothing else when it comes to worrying about every little thing!

loopylou52 · 12/03/2014 09:23

Good news on baby being head down dobe. I've just had my 31 week check with GP and she thought mine was too (though that was after I told her where I thought it was and she admited she wasn't that good at being able to tell). She said my measurement was spot on and I commented on how bizarre it is that it always seems to match so perfectly - she said it's not an exact science and really they're meant to do it without looking at the numbers so as not to be influenced by them (I.e. they know it should be 31cm so that's what they look for). All that to say, it seems like they recognise that it's not terribly reliable and different people may have different techniques for doing it. Anyway, I think I've seen on here that they refer for growth scan if it's more than about 3cm out so it sounds like you're pretty borderline. Maybe it's worth asking though, if it would help put your mind at rest?

Good luck to others with appointments today.

Chip86 · 12/03/2014 10:17

Dobe, baby has been measuring fine but because i am a bit big i have been having growth scans

i have seen some of you are under consulatant and hoping to go back to midwife, i have been seeing both midwife and consultant/obstration, i seem to be having lots of extra appointments and they seem to be extra careful with me which is lovely but im a bit worried im missing somthing

taken day off work today to rest because of headache i really dont want pre-eclamsiea, think work have had enough of me and all my sick days i know the people i work with cant say anything nice to me any more, and always saying nasty things behind my back
trying not to care but its not easy, they just making it harder for me to go in and i just want to go to doctor and be signed off for next six weeks so i dont have to go in any more

Hezbean · 12/03/2014 10:24

Anyone else feel totally unable to control their emotions at the moment? Poor old dh is so wonderful but I think I am being a nightmare to live with, the last few days. I really haven't felt that hormonal up to now but today and yesterday everything seems a bit unmanageable. Already had a cry this morning over something really really minor! Need to get a grip!!! Is this what being a teenager was like? I know I'm being unreasonable but just can't control it.

McBaby · 12/03/2014 10:39

Bump measurements are not very accurate. My bump had not grown between 31 and 34 weeks last time and I was referred for a growth scan they estimated she weighed 6.5lb at that point and she weighed 9lb at birth!

MasterFlea · 12/03/2014 10:49

Your work colleagues sound like a bunch of bullies, Chip. And some people have very odd notions about what a pregnant woman should wear. I remember my friend's DH wanting her to wear dungarees. She got lovely skinny jeans and told him he was an idiot.

Don't worry what they think or say about your sick days. They won't remember any of it when you go back after mat leave as they will have moved on to the next gossip subject. Bullies are usually more interested in themselves. My mantra for work used to be 'No Medals for Martyrs'.

My appt went well yesterday. Baby measuring the right size. Sitting head up but lots of room and time for it to turn so we won't worry about that for a few more weeks.

I think the Gest test went well too. They only ring if there is a problem and no news so far so I might have escaped that bullet.

Hi all

Happy wednesday. There is a bake off going on in my office today, that is a sure fire reason to be happy. I've had two - its for charlity!!

I have a question, I'm 32+3 today and have a really sore, stretched to the limit feeling bump. It feels bruised to touch and it bloody hurts. You know when tomatoes get overripe and split? Thats how I feel...

Anyone else? Any advice?

Except for the cakes, its making me feel most miserable. I want to go for a swim and just bob about in warm water for a bit, thats how i feel.

Grump grump grump.

For bump measurers, I saw my midwife last week, have measured perfectly all the way through, but at growth scan this week, baby's meansurements are almost three weeks ahead so agree with the others that is a fairly inaccurate thing, well either that or the growth scan is....

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 12/03/2014 11:15

What is it with guys and pregnant women in dungarees? Apparently my dad went on at my mum like crazy to wear dungarees when she was pregnant with me!

I actually have dungarees, but oh my goodness they are so comfy and my maternity jeans fall down so they're great for practical use. Maternity skinnies the rest of the time though!

Bless OH today he's come back from his lecture (left before I woke up), and the first thing he said was "You look really lovely today", and that the clothes I randomly picked up because they're the first clean things I found look lovely on me and really suit me Blush

dobedobedo · 12/03/2014 11:56

Thanks for the bump size reassurance! What would I do without you all?

sarahjinx I had that about-to-burst feeling when I was about 28 weeksish but it's worn off now. Just moisturise lots!

I noticed this morning that I've woken up with a bazillion stretch marks. Joy of joys! Hmm

Chip86 · 12/03/2014 11:58

Dungaress sound nice but i refuse to spend more money on clothes Smile glad you look nice moomin Smile men are funny bless them, DH doing his best to keep me positive and look after me they like to be doing things though not so good at the just sitting and chatting but that what i have you lovely ladies for
i will try to post more positives, i was doing ok hehehe knew it would come back and bite me hehehe

Sarah does putting cream on bump help? I find rubbing bump helps some times it makes her move to a position were her bum is not sticking out and making me strech unnesseryley, i dont know if that will help but hope so

Chip86 · 12/03/2014 11:59

I cant spell Blush Grin

Hezbean · 12/03/2014 12:07

Mmmmmm cake! sarahjinx send some our way! Hope that makes you feel a bit better. I know what you mean about the stretched belly, the area where my previously innie belly button was, is really sensitive where it's now all stretched and flat. DH keeps touching it and I really hate it and snap at him. Arrhghghghggh hormonal cow aren't I?!!? Really must stop, he's being so lovely - he's even taking me out for a nice dinner tonight and is going to order the car seat and isofix thingy at lunchtime. Any tips on how to reign in the grumpy hormonal beast welcome!!!!

moomin - lovely to get a compliment! :-)

I just got a couple of floaty dresses in the New Look sale so feel a bit less frumpy now which is good, they should see me through til May - good with tights now but will be fine without when the weather warms up (thinking positive).

MrsFooCough · 12/03/2014 12:24

I have no advice on controlling the PreggoBeast hez sorry. I'm terrible, I give in to mine at the slightest provocation (or what I see as provocation...poor DH) and she's TERRIFYING. It's scary, sometimes it's like I'm stuck inside my head as the Beast has control of my body and voice and ugh. Horrible.
But hey, DH has said I am still very very sexy and he loves me more now than he ever has done, so maybe people handle the PreggoBeast better than we give them credit for? Hmm

SarahJinx · 12/03/2014 13:04

Thanks ladies.

I'm moisturising like crazy, its like I don't have enough skin, nevermind stretching it!

I think it is maybe position chip I am most uncomfortable wherever I seem to put myself, I really feel like i would only be able to get any relief in water, its really odd.

PotatoPolly · 12/03/2014 14:07

Wow this thread moves fast! But i am here, lurking a bit and trying to post when i can- just don't forget about me!

Sarah i know what you mean about being uncomfortable, the baby is right up in my ribs and has been for days, feels like someone is running their fingers under my rib cage! Peculiar! Does this mean baby is head down? I'm assuming it's his legs kicking me.

31 week appt on Friday, midwife struggled to tell which way round the baby was at 28 week appt, she said she couldn't feel because of my stomach muscles being in the way?!

Been practically smothering myself in body cream the last month or so, but my stretch marks are still raging!

I'll try to keep up a little more!

NestingNesting123 · 12/03/2014 14:10

Another Glasgow mum moas, hello Smile

I know what you mean about emotions Hezbean, it doesn't take much to make me cry at the moment and I've been feeling really clingy and not wanting to leave DH. Usually I really enjoy my own space.

I started to crack up laughing at the thought of dungarees and then thought about how I just bought my first onesie and how good it feels to wear something with no waistband...

Hezbean · 12/03/2014 14:29

mrsfoo That's almost exactly it - you hear things coming out of your mouth and you just think why am I saying this?!?!? Awful.

Nesting It's weird isn't it, I'm usually the same too but have turned into a two headed beast - clingy one minute then biting his head off the next. Poor DH, I think he'll deserve a sainthood if this carries on much longer.

I've been slathering on the BioOil and don't have stretch marks yet but am sure I'll get some soon, as I did when I was a teenager.

Baby seems to be in different positions all the time. Really trying not to slouch backwards to try and encourage good baby positioning but sitting forwards makes my hips twingey and tight. And I really need to get the right height birthing ball, the one I've got is far too small.

ClearlyMoo · 12/03/2014 14:36

Hello

I always wanted to wear dungarees when preggo (like Daphne on Neighbours when she fell off the ladder) but now I think of look even more mahusive. Made mistake of ordering A LOT of chocolate with Sunday's Ocado shop and have since eaten an obscene amount. I know I'm getting fat and some of it is me not baby. I also know I need to keep BMI down at 36 week check to "pass" for birthing centre. What us wrong with me???! Going swimming (bobbing) later so that'll help but I've been so piggy now I have THE guilt.

Have been WFH/ill/ on leave for 9/10 last working days (2 weeks) have to go to office tomorrow and want to cos if I drive to work I can go to Aquanatal which will help. Still scary - I'm so used to being home now!!
