Morning everyone. More house moving, and a gastroenterology appointment today. I'm so nervous! More so than for any previous appointments which is weird because I never usually have an issue talking about bowels... goes with the territory of having ones that don't work very well Grin

Consultant last week mentioned seeing a surgical team, which sounds quite positive... I think?

Off to Wilkos now to buy lightshades!! Have a good Saturday everyone :)

Bornin1984 · 22/03/2014 09:05

Ohhhhhh I've just had a moment of mardyness!!!!!!!!

As a first time mummy I have to wait a wholllllleeeeeeeee year for Mother's Day. Where dh only has to wait until June for Father's Day!!!!

TutShock

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 10:05

mamapants DS is nearly 3 (birthday toe days after DS's due date!), but I know lots of friends started using them earlier and had good success.
He was mucking about with it this morning and managed to pull the plug out of the back, came in to my room really upset saying "I've broke Mr Sun! Mummy help! I've broke Mr Sun!" Grin

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 10:09

Toe?? Confused two... The latest IOS update on my iPad is doing some very odd autocorrects lately...

Moomin good luck with your appointment! Hope all goes well.
Re move, I know it's hard not to try to help as we moved when I was preg with DS, but you really really need to limit yourself to making cups of tea for everyone else - don't lift anything! Not even the box with the mugs in! :)

mummytobe88 · 22/03/2014 10:09

bornin I've had the exact same moan to my OH!! Haha doesn't seen very fair does it?!

Squiffie · 22/03/2014 14:16

When my eldest was born in 2008 mothers day was on 2nd March, DS was born on the 21st. Mothers day 2009 was not until 22nd March so DS was already turned 1 before I had a mothers day - I was most put out and won't let DH forget he owes me one, lol Grin

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 14:39

bornin I had a whine about that to OH this morning! Haha Grin

Hospital was a very quick appt but doctor is lovely. Got to have a coeliac test (the symptoms are often made worse by gluten and wheat, but I'm fairly sure I'd know if I had coeliac surely? Hmm ) and then they'll decide if I need a camera investigation or not.... Shock um no thanks Grin

In agony this afternoon though... usually it doesn't get really bad till the evenings. Think I'm in for a rough night Sad

PixieBumbles · 22/03/2014 16:00

Oh heck mcbaby I'm glad all's ok! When I said about the chances of another baby being with us before this thread ends I was thinking of the fact that drop zone is just a couple of weeks away for some ladies on here, not wishing premature labour on anyone!

Minions · 22/03/2014 16:03

Quiet Saturday...everyone busy doing/resting? Good luck with the move Moomin, take heed of the do nothing advice - you have enough on your plate without adding to it :)

All good here, just about to get out my Jammie's and into the bath, blissfully relaxing day after v busy period. Also just downloaded hypno birthing book & mp3s, guess I better start listening/reading! Remind me when drop zone starts, I think I'm teetering in the edge (34 +4)

ClearlyMoo · 22/03/2014 16:05

I AM IN THE BATH! Grin

Yeah apologies for the image. First bath I've had in a month. First time in a month I've felt that I might be able to get out of the bath once in (this has clearly yet to be tested). I have my phone with me so if need be I can make humiliating call to parents in law so they can get DH to come and rescue me (he's mowing the verges with ear defenders on)!

I've actually done something practical and useful today! Swim, then present wrapping for SiL's 40th, then I went OUTSIDE and repotted my peace lily! I was very happy pottering (literally chortle chortle) til FIL came out and said "what are you doing? Why are you doing that?" I gave one word answers and he eventually went away then MiL came out and said "are you ok? Do you need a stool?" To which I snapped "I'm happy I'm fine I just want to be left alone!"

Soooo frustrating. First time I venture into garden (ours is massive and surrounds house so no need for everyone to be where I am) for weeks and they all turn up. I know I didn't behave nicely and everyone was just being kind but I don't need mothering/questioning/running commentary!!

Poor DH. I think I upset him cos I snapped at his well meaning Mum. I know I chose this life (well it was DH and inlaws or no DH) and MIL has been brilliant getting shopping/prescriptions/ doing bits of washing etc. But for me it's a massive adjustment. 10 months ago I was living alone in the city in my own house....!

So I'm in the bath and if I can't get out then I'll just keep topping up hot water til someone rescues me!

Ummmm QUESTION:

Stomach muscles. When I try to sit up (in bath) bump goes cone shaped as I use what is left of my stomach muscles. Did someone say the other day this is them separating?

PS Moomin have 3 friends who were diagnosed coeliac one at 13, one in late teens and one in late thirties. At least once they know it's really fixable (though doughnuts are out for life)!

OP posts:
ClearlyMoo · 22/03/2014 16:08

Minions drop zone starts at 37 weeks so you're 17 days away..,

PS I got out!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 16:40

Glad to hear you got out of the bath Clearly Grin

Just had a look at the website the doctor recommended and it's actually interesting, I can see why he wants to test for coeliac first... as well as the pain, constipation etc there's also headaches and visual disturbances, recurring low iron (I was anaemic a lot before getting pregnant)... will be interesting.

If I can avoid endoscopy I'll be happy Hmm

MrsFooCough · 22/03/2014 16:54

Absolute saga of moaning to come, so don't read if you don't want to be INFURIATED/bored.

So on Wednesday I got my prescription request letter to give to my GP surgery, to get them to issue a prescription for my stabby lancet things and glucose test strips. This was given to them on Wednesday at approx 2pm, they said the strips and lancets would be ready on Friday after 4pm.
So Dad went to collect them at 4pm, but was told they were at the Boots in the town centre, so Mum went to them at 6pm after work and was told they didn't sodding have any of the right sodding kind of strips because the prescription had only come through earlier that day, and they hadn't had time to order them in.
SO they said they'd be ready at 11am today and my Mum obligingly went over to get them. Fine and dandy, 200 strips, brilliant! So I did my pre-lunch test and... the sodding bastard strips weren't the right sodding bastard ones Angry
So Mum went back and had a go at them, turns out the fucking GP surgery sent an incorrect prescription. IDIOTS

So basically I'm without glucose monitoring until some time on Monday. Since TODAY. That's almost 72hrs of no sodding data to report to the clinic on Wednesday.

I am so ANGRY

Minions · 22/03/2014 17:04

Sorry Mrs, that's really rubbish. No advice just a hug, I'd be totally frustrated too x

Sounds promising moomin, if they can diagnose hopefully they'll be able to treat the symptoms.

Well done clearly on getting out the bath! First year of marriage is a big adjustment, I guess even more so with you in laws next door. I know it can be frustrating when folks butt in but does sound like they were being caring. They've seen how much pain you've been in and how tough things are and just want to make sure you're ok. Hugs x

Flixy102 · 22/03/2014 17:38

mrs I totally sympathise with your glucose test strip woes! It took me several phonecalls to even get a prescription and when I finally got it they gave me......a whole 50 strips! Luckily I got through to a very sympathetic receptionist who had had GD and understood that when you're testing 7 times a day, 50 strips just isn't gonna cut it! So in the end i got another 150 strips but it just makes what's already a pain in the ass much much harder.

MrsFooCough · 22/03/2014 18:25

I must say flixy Boots were v helpful and rang round all the pharmacies that were still open at that time, but by the time I did my pre-lunch stabbing it was already 1:15, so most smaller pharmacies were closed already. None in Canterbury had any of the right strips. When they thought they had the right ones though they did give me 200 strips and 200 lancets, so I think willingness to give me lots is not an issue! Apparently my monitor (GlucoMen Gm) is a new type so most places don't have the right stuff yet. To be honest, the diabetic nurse and midwife should have said that, but they just handed over a sealed brown envelope with my GP's name on it to hand in at the surgery, so it was a rather closed-off situation, I didn't have a chance to see the letter and maybe if I had then this whole situation would have been avoided?
Oh anyway. Also in other joyous news, MiL has a bad infection - throat, chest, we don't know. Went to GP on Wednesday, got given antibiotics and shoved out the door, she's since been incredibly sleepy all the time, collapsed and hit her head, and is now barely able to talk. They've called the out-of-hours dr, but DH is terrified.

MrsFooCough · 22/03/2014 18:26

Oh and MiL and StepFiL are in Birmingham so too far to just pop over and see them, DH is threatening to go up there tonight if it's bad news (ie hospital)

SarahJinx · 22/03/2014 18:40

Clearly, yep that was me. Physio told me last week that the 'dome' effect when you lean back is a classic sign of separated six pack muscles (I don't know the technical terms!). She said the after birth physio will check me on her rounds now it's in my notes.

Physics visit after birth btw, to talk to you about pelvic floor and other exercises to help your muscles remember where they belong, just on case anyone doesn't know Smile.

Anyway clearly, they don't do anything pre birth to diagnose but worth mentioning to your physio I guess so your after birth visit can involve that same check.

dobedobedo · 22/03/2014 19:01

What a nightmare mrsfoo. Just what you need along with the anxiety of being diagnosed with GD: MORE unnecessary anxiety! Angry on your behalf.

I've spent half the day crying. I'm not in control of my emotions at all lately. Blush had some tragic news about an old school friend too which I won't go into here out of respect to your hormones! Confused

On a positive note, baby hasn't stopped kicking for days now. He's so active lately, and seems to be head down Smile I'd be very surprised if he had room to move about much anymore. It really feels like he's jammed in tight. God knows how he's gonna get out! Doesn't seem possible!

MasterFlea · 22/03/2014 19:08

Oh crap. My belly gets into a weird shape when I try to sit up too. I thought maybe everyones did that. So what shape does a bump go for everyone else when they sit up from bed? Does it stay all round and never change shape?

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 19:15

Sounds like a nightmare MrsFoo Sad

Sorry to hear you've had bad news dobe, hope you're ok!

MasterFlea I'm not the best person to ask about bump shape (my bump picture on the facebook group is proof of that haha!) but mine changes shape when I sit up. In fact it seems to change on a regular basis, quite often it's uneven when baby is all on one side Grin

New flat has a bath. I haven't had a bath since I was 12 (obviously I've showered!!). Tomorrow evening I am having a bath once OH gets home from work in case I get stuck.

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 19:17

SarahJinx ooh I didn't have a physio visit last time, will definitely ask the midwife about that when I see her on Tuesday! I had it after DS and it was never fixed, so very pronounced now, have read a lot more about it the last few weeks, the technical term is 'Diastasis Recti'.

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 19:24

Clearly Masterflea & Moomin - by this stage none of us are supposed to be sitting up in a crunch position, regardless of if you know your stomach muscles to be seperated or not.
Mine gets a big bulge/ridge down the centre if I try to sit up directly from lying, or even if I just lift my head tbh.

We're meant to roll on to one side and push up with our arms - this is to prevent exacerbating any damage to your stomach muscles, and obv as mine were already shot to bits I've been doing this since pretty early on! Grin

If the MW tells me we don't get physio visits here I'll def have to book one privately, I really want to get mine sorted this time. Apparently if it's not properly repaired there's no chance at all of losing the mummy tummy, so no wonder I've still got mine from DS three years on.
