Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

Thanks for the tummy info/ reassurance/ warning.

LTT I get that but how on earth is one supposed to get out of the bath? I do roll on one side to get out of bed but bath wise I fill it too much to flip onto my belly and up to my knees....?!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 19:47

I tried rolling onto my side once and fell out of bed Sad then again these days I tend to just kind of crawl around places until OH helps me stand up Grin ahh the glamour of pregnancy. Roll on April 28th Grin

SarahJinx · 22/03/2014 19:59

That's the term! It is a disaster too, I had the doming with DS1, but never knew what it was, assumed it was normal, but but but, although my tummy went down after birth, I've kept a sort of pronounced abdomen (below boobage), which again I've ignored, I needed to lose weight anyway and put it all down to that. Now I know different!

For bathing, I push up with arms on the sides to kneeling and go from there.

The doming itself looks like it could be your babies back - pretends that I didn't think it was that last time around.....Blush

MasterFlea · 22/03/2014 20:19

I had the same doming effect with DD2. It is very hard to change how one gets out of bed after 30 years of habit. And I never knew that I wasn't to do that. Oh well. Too late now. I don't think I'll be getting physio care after the birth so I will be begging you all to tell me your secret exercises post birth.

They should put that in the pregnancy books, right at the start.

Sorry Moomin, I let out a laugh at your post. You're right, the glamour of pregnancy. All dignity goes out the window. I hope you are taking it nice and easy with your move. Bet you won't miss your MoaningMyrtle of a housemate Grin

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 20:46

I've waved goodbye to my dignity Master Grin We've got family members from both sides coming up in convoy with our furniture tomorrow, I've been assigned to tea and coffee making and biscuit eating distribution duties. Fine by me Grin

She's away until Tuesday and it's such a good feeling to know that by the time she gets back, we'll be out of there Grin

bushprincess · 22/03/2014 20:48

ahhh... I've got a funny ridge/buldge thing down the middle of my bump when I sit up too - buggery....

Glad to hear you didn't have to call 999 to get you out of the bath clearly! Sorry about the prescription hassles Mrsfoo and for your bad news and fragile state dobe

I've been pissed off all afternoon/evening - need to get some work finished and my new computer keeps crashing Angry. have had to move back to old one which takes about a month to warm up and has no battery so can't unplug it to move anywhere...

just need to get finished before we enter the drop (aka DANGER) zone!..ahhhh! mild panic setting in now!

dobedobedo · 22/03/2014 20:53

Dh reckons my bump changes shape when I get up, but it's not something I've noticed. Will look out for it though!

I've had period type pains all day. Not painful contractions, but you know the way you get low level period pains that radiate down to your legs? I wonder maybe if it's just tension. Does anyone else get this?

moo if I had a bath I think I'd need a crane to lift me out! Grin

moobaloo · 22/03/2014 21:08

Less than five weeks till my drop zone starts! Eek!

Bugger. I also have the doming thing I think. Shall have to persuade dp to swap bed sides with me as I have to climb over him to get out of bed at the mo and it's quite annoying. Getting harder to do as well!

He is reluctant to give up his side though and reckons he can get up to get the baby and then pass it to me in the night for feeding. I asked how im supposed to get it back to its cot as he will fall asleep while I'm feeding it and won't be able to return it. He suggested I climb over him, holding the sleeping baby, to put it back Hmm I know I gushed about him yesterday but he is a bit of an idiot sometimes!

Hope the pains go away Dobe, could it be baby engaging? Don't know what that feels like but have gathered it's fairly painful? At what point do they start to do that?

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 21:35

dobe YY, I get those too, yesterday mo and today a bit too, but I think mine is linked to my bowels... My Braxton Hicks are always crampy and uncomfortable if I'm bunged up, but ok-fine if I'm not. Sorry if TMI!

MasterFlea I know what you mean, habits of a lifetime 'n all that. The physio i saw about PGP told me to keep my knees together when getting up/in/out of bed/cars/sofa etc, and I've found it helped reduce the pain a lot. I have to bring my knees up, then roll onto my side, can't do it from flat in bed.
TinyTit has spent most of the last week pushing and prodding at the thinnest bit of my poor separated stomach, it's like he knows! Blimmin sore.

LongTailedTit · 22/03/2014 21:39

moobaloo he seriously needs to swap now! How the flipping hell are you going to manage clambering around like that with sore boobs, lochia, sore bits etc etc etc? Confused He's got to shift!
Otherwise you shall just have to start literally climbing on him instead of over him, knees and elbows in all his soft bits.

impatientlywaiting · 22/03/2014 22:32

I have the funny dome thing if I sit up too.
I've just naturally been rolling to get out of bed since pretty early on in my pregnancy, but was still using what was left of my tummy muscles to get out of the bath. Will remember to try and get out done other way in future!

MrsFooCough · 22/03/2014 23:11

I have the weird tummy shape thing too, didn't know it was this common or that we shouldn't be doing it! Oops Confused
MiL is now in overnight, low white blood cell count and still v dizzy. I'm thinking Epstein-Barr virus/aka glandular fever. Symptoms can be sore throat in older adults, also can cause enlarged spleen and lowered white blood cell numbers. Would explain why StepFiL hasn't caught whatever MiL has, if he's had it before but she hasn't.
DH freaking out and can't sleep so I doubt I'll be getting much sleep.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 22/03/2014 23:17

My lecturer has glandular fever at the moment MrsFoo, it sounds horrible Sad
Hope you do manage to get some sleep!

Bless OH he's just got back from a crazy shift at work and made me chips and cheese which I was craving like mad... feel even worse now though, any good the cocodamol was doing has just been wiped out Envy

MasterFlea · 23/03/2014 06:51

Moobaloo what possible good reason does he have for not changing sides? Being a passive agressive bitch, I'd knee him in the balls a few times while climbing through him. Every time until he came to his senses.

I'm feeling very cranky this morning. Already had a fight with DH and a good cry. It's not even 9am. Doesn't bode well for the day.

LTT the PGP tips are good. Easy to do when pain is a reminder to do things right. Belly doesn't hurt though just looks weird but I have already started using my arms more and rolling out of bed.

Bush I would have thought horse riding would have kept the muscles together. Pregnancy is baffling.

Wonder how many more arguements I can get into today. Better get off MN before I embarrass myself.

Bezzabelle · 23/03/2014 06:56

Hi all, looking for some advice (sorry for the selfish post, know you all have lots going on at the moment)

Since yesterday afternoon, I have been having weird headaches, everytime I move my head, I get the head rush feeling like all the blood is rushing to the top of my head. I have to actually stop in my tracks if it happens when I stand up. My eyes have also flickered a few times. I have had a cold and been blocked up so was thinking it was sinus but it was even happening when I was turning over in bed last night. Should I be worried? What to do? Just wait to see if clears up? I don't really suffer from headaches. I'm 30 + 1.

Bornin1984 · 23/03/2014 07:10

Ring and speak to ooh if concerned about headaches Thanks

ClearlyMoo · 23/03/2014 07:50

Bezzabelle you poor thing. As it's Subday morning the best thing to do might be to call the Delivery Suite (obvs depends on emergency contact your MW has given). They'll listen and tell you what to do. Don't leave it though. In all these things better to be checked out than worry x

PS I'm so rubbish at MN always giving out the hugs and xxxx! I don't really understand why MN is so anti "love and kindness"!

LongTailedTit · 23/03/2014 10:19

Morning all!
Yes, I'd call OOH, 111 or midwife if I were you Bezzabelle, that doesn't sound like a standard headache. Hope you feel better soon.

dobedobedo · 23/03/2014 10:44

bezza just what the others said. Call the emergency number on your notes. Hope everything is okay!

Who has just had a fight with their dh and cried? Sorry I forget already. Blush anyway, it seems every weekend I cry and dh turns into a right twat. It does occur to me that MAYBE I'm being extra sensitive and hormonal but also maybe this is evolutions way of making sure our dh 's fall into line and know what's expected of them when the baby is here! Wink

Who was talking about t jaffa cakes the other day? This "legit craving" I suddenly have is your fault! Grin

dobedobedo · 23/03/2014 10:47

Ooh update on period pains yesterday: I did have some actual painful braxton hicks last night, but I changed position, drank loads of water etc. And they wore off after 45 mins. It must just be my body gearing up and practicing! I guess we are getting to that scary stage now.

NannyPlumForPM · 23/03/2014 11:20

34 weeks today eek! That's only 3 weeks until drop zone, and probably birth due to early induction! I think it's about 37-38 weeks induction around here due to insulin gd Hmm

I think your exactly right dobe they need kicking into line Wink dp is catering in this weather so am glad me and dd are snuggled up with 101 Dalmatians !

Bornin1984 · 23/03/2014 11:25

Jaffa cAkes ;-)

What I've found is ... Being off sick not one of my friends have text to see how I am, its always me texting them, so to prove a point I haven't text any of them and by sure they haven't text me

Feeling lonely:-(

MrsFooCough · 23/03/2014 11:43

Oh bornin that's rough, I've had similar. There's one of my 5 mates from secondary school (my really close-knit group) who's asked how I am a few times, but the others don't bother unless there's a birthday gathering to organise in which case they all tag on the end "oh MrsF how's pregnancy going?" and just ignoring everything I've mentioned previously about my issues/problems.
I find more people on Twitter who I've never met have asked how I am than some of the people who came to our bloody wedding! Sad

Bezzabelle · 23/03/2014 11:47

Just in ward being monitored- thanks for all your responses. I don't mind the kisses and cuddles at all!
