WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

If you'd like to know how big your baby is this week the check out The Bump

If you'd like to mark your place perhaps you could tell us who you are and how long you've got to go!

Happy chatting Maybies!

moo worrying is the worst, go and get a check to put your mind at rest at least. Thanks

The weirdest thing happened. Confused

I got up and walked across the office and then I realised I was walking, not hobbling. And I barely felt any pgp pain! That was a couple of hours ago and I'm still not feeling much pain and I can walk normally!

Why is this happening?! How can it suddenly have stopped hurting so much? I was on crutches for three weeks like! Hmm

moobaloo · 14/03/2014 19:47

Thanks, I have felt some strong kicks now and movement so I'm not as worried now. Watched my stomach move a bit as well! Trouble is if he kicks I get all excited and start poking my stomach trying to encourage him to kick again, and I think this puts him off as he then won't move Hmm I must annoy him!

I do think he may have moved from his convenient head down position though, drat. I had hoped he'd be nice and comfy there and would stay put for the next ten weeks so he's the right way around for birth!

That's great re lack of pain Dobe! Long may it continue!

Moomin - hope the tens works out for you! So sorry you're in so much pain but hope it improves and is all forgotten by the time you have your baby in your arms!

sambababy · 14/03/2014 20:54

dobe this is a completely random guess, but do you think maybe the baby moved position a bit? Perhaps before they were pressing on a nerve or something? Mine has got worse recently and our scan showed the baby's head is really low down so I wondered if that might be why.

Hugs to those with colds/bugs, they really knock you out when pg!

We had our growth scan today and although baby is still measuring 11th centile, they have grown which is the important thing, so I feel a bit calmer now. And the baby has hair apparently Grin

I'm sorry I haven't commented on everything but I do try to read it all. In fact I find MN dangerously addictive Blush

Bornin1984 · 14/03/2014 21:28

Also nada growth scan today. Baby is head down! He measures
Well but his tummy is big, down to diabetes!

As for swollen hands they just thinkits pregnancy retention, not drinking enough but ironically weeing plenty as it's body's way of trying to get rid of it!

Will get sick note from consultant. So unofficial my it looks like I'm on may leave....
Don't know if it's Grin or Hmm!!

dobedobedo · 14/03/2014 21:50

Aww good to hear the growth scans went well today!

Apparently when the baby's head engages it can stabilise the pelvis and make the hip pain disappear. It seems to have happened to a lot of women with spd. My fanjo bone is still killing me, but being able to walk normally without agony has completely changed me! Feel like a new person! Grin

Hope it lasts.

BlanketSky · 14/03/2014 21:56

now on maternity leave - WOOHOO!!! so hopefully will manage to keep up a bit more! :) have read but can't remember very much as usual!

dobe I've found that with my PGP very recently too and did in first (last to full term) preg- has your bump dropped? I am carrying very low but dd is oblique breech (has been for weeks, I don't think my ribs will ever be the same again! - having a cs anyway so not too concerned though not comfy) and I still think PGP is a bit better. Maybe there's a hormonal change too...?!

sarah I'm just outside the cathedral 'city'... Was your physio Gail by any chance, assuming NHS?

have a lovely weekend everyone Flowers

MrsFooCough · 14/03/2014 22:02

Must share this story DH told me about a conversation he had with a mate of his at work (henceforth referred to as DHM), it made me howl with laughter Grin

DHM: "So how's your missus doing? How far along is she now?"
DH: "Oh, about six months, she's got some hip problems but she's doing pretty well."
DHM: "That's good. waits a bit ...quite tight now, isn't it."
DH: dies laughing

So now a mate of DH's knows that Things Are Engorged Down There, which I'm sure we've all got these days but it never struck me that it would be a widely-acknowledged thing! Blush

mrsmummytobe · 14/03/2014 22:08

moo glad you're feeling baby move more now. I know how scary it can be when you aren't sure you can feel movement.

dobe glad it's all a bit less painful for you now!

samba &bornin good news about growth scans :)

Lol mrsfoo!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! We're off to nct in the morning. I'm taking my birthing ball as apparently we're going to be shown how to use them in labour.

LongTailedTit · 14/03/2014 22:54

MrsF Grin I've only just noticed myself! Would be a bit Shock if I thought any of DH's mates were looking at me and thinking that!

I was thinking how much my PGP had eased off too, was even considering walking to get DS from preschool, then had to walk up the high street to the cashpoint and ow ow ow! Nope. Still going to use 4 wheels as much as possible. I'm now remembering the drive-thru ATMs my DSis uses in the US rather more fondly, having previously thought they were a terrible idea...

[SarahJinx] I had diastasis recti (seperated stomach muscles) after DS, but not bad enough for my GP to be interested - it actually got worse over time. If I lie down and lift my head, I get a big bulge down the centre, like my stomach's trying to escape.
Due to your post this evening I've read up on it a bit more, so thank you! Apparently physio can help, so if I don't 'go back together' naturally, I reckon I'll have to find a physio ASAP. Poor posture and wrong exercise etc can all make it worse, so prob best to research it now.

LongTailedTit · 14/03/2014 22:54

Damn, bold fail! SarahJiinx that last bit was to you! :)

MrsFooCough · 14/03/2014 23:00

DH's mate has never met me but he and his DW have had 2 DCs, so he knows pregnancy quite well! Haha I don't think he saw me and thought "hmmm podgy flaps" Shock hahahahaha

dobedobedo · 15/03/2014 05:40

blanket Yayyy! I'm so jealous of those on maternity leave already!

mrsfoo I'd be a bit Blush as well!

I'm awake, as usual, and I'm just wondering, is anyone doing the raspberry leaf tea thing?
I took the capsules when I was pregnant with ds and while they gave me braxton hicks, my second stage of labour was quite fast, despite being on my back. I think I started taking them at about 32 weeks in that pregnancy.

Bornin1984 · 15/03/2014 07:04

Laid inbed day dreaming that mini me will be here in 4.5 weeks at 37 weeks which is true !! Isee myself walking up the hospital corridor in my non sexy hospital gown and stockings! And because I know everyone there they all wishing my well in my day dream, and the. Suddenly in r/l I've found myself bloody crying!!! I'm already over whelmed!! All my work mates know how hard it was conceive this boy (6years) and I know how thrilled they are are for me too! I just hate being centre of attention! And while I'm in hospital I'll just be a novelty act to them! Very surreal feelings at the moment!!!

Today I'm off to get eye drops in my eyes to see if I have diabetic changes to my retinas!!! Deep joy !!

Have a nice weekend everyone xxxGrin

SarahJinx · 15/03/2014 07:08

LTT S'ok, I got that! My physio said that she'd highlighted it in my notes, and that nothing can be done to diagnose or fix whilst preggers, but that when the physiognomy does the after birth rounds, she'll check me and we'll go from there.

The 'mound' looks just like it could be the babies back, but like you, only when I lean back. I defo had it with DS1 but never took any notice of it.

Right blanket, it it's not Narch then there can be only one other place and if it's the Norfolk side as opposed to the Cambs side then we are v close across 'the water' .....Grin are you QEH? My physio was Helen.

SarahJinx · 15/03/2014 07:17

Ahhhh bornin just wanted to hold your hand a little, we were 4 years with DS1, but I didn't tell anyone (couldn't cope with the whole 'poor Sarah' shit) apart from my family and best friend. It's overwhelming to think you're almost there after such a long journey (and SO much shagging!!).

I actually dreamt I had the baby last night, at 33 weeks Shock, my dad delivered it, it was a teeny boy and while we waited for the ambulance, I tried desperately to find pyjamas for my hospital bag! Today, I'm going to by new pyjamas and finalise my effing bag!!

Bornin1984 · 15/03/2014 07:21

Thanks Sarah

mrsmummytobe · 15/03/2014 07:50

dobe what is the raspberry leaf tea thing?

Is anyone else having really vivid dreams? Last night I dreamt that dh & I broke up. I also keep dreaming about totally random situations & I end up tossing & turning all night!

Xavielli · 15/03/2014 08:10

I had my first cup of raspberry leaf tea last Saturday and have had 3 a day since, love the stuff :)

Had a phone call from the MW last night saying that my bloody stupid liver levels have risen so high that I'm being referred to Special obstetric medicine at the JR in Oxford. Really hoping it just going to be a one off check up there rather than every appointment, just so inconvenient with school runs and me not being a driver. Baby comes first though obviously. Had bloods done Thursday and still have a gaping hole in the crook of my elbow, wondering if the lady who took it was rubbish or if my skin/veins have imploded from over use!

Hugs and a jolly good scratch for you Isean I considered wearing 3/4 length leggings yesterday as it was warm then realised I'd scratched the bottom of my legs so raw that I look like I have chicken pox

Minions · 15/03/2014 08:40

Hello, been reading all week but no time to post - hard to keep up! Thanks for those having a hard time, I count myself very lucky to have things go relatively ok.

Just wondering if anyone's getting excited? Must be hard if you're in pain and unwell. I'm swinging between being crazily excited about becoming parents and finally meeting our little one and being terrified for the same reasons! Mainly excited though, just can't wait to meet him/her :D For those who have had kids before I'd love to hear what you're most looking forward to having been there before. And from first timers too!

Xavielli · 15/03/2014 08:44

I'm looking forward to sniffing him and his general baby softness

mrsmummytobe · 15/03/2014 08:47

Aww minions that's so sweet! I'm a first timer & I just can't imagine how I'll feel when she's actually here! Everything is so up in the air with us at the moment. We are in a chain buying a house but it's going really slowly & I have an awful feeling it's going to fall through. I am just feeling so stressed all the time at the moment & think I will be until I know where we will be living for the birth. I've been told 2 of the most stressful things that you can do in life are moving house & having a baby & we are doing both at the same time!

PotatoPolly · 15/03/2014 08:51

Hi all, not a lot to say today, had my MW appt yest and my urine all came back clear so no pre eclampsia worries :) still not sure what it was though, think I'll just put it down to one of those things!
I'll try to keep up reading, have a lovely weekend, whatever you're doing! Thanks

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 09:00

I had a baby dream last night! We had a little girl and called her a name that wasn't even on either of our lists from the start! Told OH this morning and he said "I like that....". Not enough to override first choice name though.

I think I am starting to get excited, the anticipation of finding out the sex and seeing what he/she looks like is keeping me going through the pain of my scar. Got consultant on Tuesday and I'm so nervous/excited for that, although I may be a determined, independent, angry, hormonal, irrational, unreasonable pregnant woman and refuse to leave until he agrees to talk to me about the options - I am NOT going over my due date Angry

mumof2aimingfor3 · 15/03/2014 09:17

minions third baby for me and have to agree with xav the new baby smell and snuggly cuddles as well as finally seeing who they look like, although they tend to look like their dad.
The immense feeling I get when holding my new baby makes any concerns or worries about anything going on in my life seem so irrelevant.

Bornin1984 · 15/03/2014 09:29

Im sending mini me back shud he look like his dAd!!
