WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

Hi all just reading through all your messages. I am 31ish wks due 14th may but having an elective after a traumatic crash section last time. I get my date on 4th April. I have one dd who is 4 and I am expecting another girl :) I am off to carry on reading through how everyone is getting on. Im also a pgp on crutches :( its bloody soul destroying isnt it. Sorry to those with liver probs too. I have just hormonal related itching at night on my shoulders and have ripped them to shreds. Dread to think what that itch would be like all over. Hugs all x

dobedobedo · 15/03/2014 09:48

Welcome jelly!

Minions, I'm excited now, I just really can't wait to meet him. I don't mind being pregnant that much because this is the last time I'm doing it so I'm trying to savour the good parts, like baby kicking and having a bump.
I can't wait to see ds (9) hold his little brother. I also can't wait to see dh become a father. He's been broody his whole life!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 10:01

I have sat and wondered about 'next time' - how different it'll be trying for and hopefully having a second baby. The whole TTC process and also the baby won't be such a baby by then as we're looking at six or seven years before we do even consider trying. I want to enjoy this baby first though Grin

Jellymum1 · 15/03/2014 10:15

Did you try long this time moomin? We tried to conceive for two years with dd1. We were about to start fertility after being told we couldn't conceive naturally. He had docile swimmers and I had an "inhospitable" environment for his slow swimmers! We said wed take a year off trying before starting treatment as we were staring to crack up a bit...three months later I had a missed period and had caught naturally! !!! After a very difficult time overall we said one was enough for us though. I had a difficult preg and birth. But then on my 30th I got pissed and we didnt use a condom and whoops!!!! Baby number two lol. Cant believe it but I am bloody happy about it now. This preg has been much easier too. I never thought id have another baby to hold/smell/feed etc so it is very special and I think I will try and complain less this time about how tired I am!

Morning all. My turn for a bit of a moan. Horrendous journey back from work last night, which involved a three hour stint on the work coach, one hour of which was a very bumpy rude through the Channel Tunnel (due to "maintenance"). Fell asleep and woke up in pain about 1.30am as I had twisted awkwardly.

Finally got back to the UK office at 02.15. Fell into bed at three this morning. Woke up at 7 with a stiff back and the muscles at the top of my bump all sore. Also have a painful throat and sore chest.

Was a bit worried that the monster was being very quiet, but she is awake and kicking now.

Due back at work for a nightshift starting 9pm tonight. Haven't missed a day's work yet, but seriously wondering if I will be up to it tonight.

Bleurgh.

dobedobedo · 15/03/2014 11:42

My bump has noticeably dropped, I took a pic yesterday morning and this morning and you can see the difference! Baby is definitely in the launch position. I can also breathe a lot easier too!
I'm just back from tesco, and I saw someone from dh 's work so I hid. When I last saw him two days ago I was hobbling on crutches and today I was practically jogging down the aisles! I'm afraid people will think I'm a giant fraud! Hmm It is amazing to not be in such pain all the time though, it's put me in such a good mood! Smile

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 12:05

jelly we weren't trying at all - kids weren't on the horizon for a good few years - so it was very much an accidental pregnancy. Prefer to think of it as a 'happy surprise' now, but I read the first antenatal thread I posted on last night where I was stressing about how to tell my parents and 'what do I doooo'!!!

Jellymum1 · 15/03/2014 12:25

Awwwww thats so cute moomin! I also was a what do I doooo with this one lol. I think now she is a wonderful suprise ;)

SarahJinx · 15/03/2014 12:33

kally do you travel in and out of France daily? You're doing amazingly if so. I have quite a commute, by car though thank gawd, and dragging my ass up, getting me and DS out the door, to nursery then work is a back breaker of a routine. Certainly won't be missing that!!

it's a glorious sunny, windy day here, a smily day.

done that is the greatest news about your spd, I hope same happens to me. Post physio my hips are ok but my poor fanjo is shrieking like a banshee this morning.

Hi Jelly!!

kally195 · 15/03/2014 12:49

sarah yep - although the length of our shifts (12hrs) mean we only go to work 3/4 times a week (we alternate 36 and 48 hour weeks). We don't have far to commute to our UK office from home, but once we are there we have to get on the work coach to go to the French office. Thankfully that bit is within our shift time (unless like last night it goes a bit wrong and we end up doing a 13hr shift).

OH has tucked me up in bed and told me in no uncertain terms that I am not getting up to clean the kitchen (I can hear him doing it now), that I am not going to work tonight and that if my cough/chest/breathing etc gets much worse (there is a horrid cold/flu thing going round at work - half our brigade have it and he seems to think that this is the start of it for me) then he wants my mum to come down to look after me while he is at work tonight. He doesn't want me climbing up and down stairs to get drinks and use the bathroom etc with no-one else in the house.... I do love him.

31 weeks today. Gulp.

AppleCrumble1 · 15/03/2014 12:49

Happy weekend everyone it's really sunny here & just got some bargain baby things at an NCT sale along with an unused Tens machine - let's hope it helps!

mrsmummytobe we are also in a similar situation & not sure when we'll be moving!! The person we are buying from has yet to find anywhere still & is now mentioning June! Horrid changes to my job at work have had me in tears this week - I need to get through the next month before I can escape!

AppleCrumble1 · 15/03/2014 12:55

Get well soon Kally your OH sounds lovely

Bornin1984 · 15/03/2014 13:01

My Moses basket has
Come today Grin

loopylou52 · 15/03/2014 13:53

Sorry to hear you've had such a crappy night kally, it does sound like hard work! Glad your OH is looking after you so well.

I am so impressed with the pgp improvement dobe, great news!

I'm definitely excited about baby's arrival (though not impatient as I don't want it to come early). It is a bit overwhelming at times though.

Sorry to hear about your liver. levels xav. Hugs and Thanks to you and all who need them.

NannyPlumForPM · 15/03/2014 14:37

Phew lots of stuff has gone on! No shortage of worries here after various appointments! Any news when you'll be moving in moomin ?

Great news dobe about pgp easing up! Hopefully that's it now!!

Turns out I need insulin- only 2 units at nighttime at the moment but they said that'll probably increase! Also my amnio fluid levels are low so they think it's leaking! Looks like baby's gonna be on it's way early Hmm they've taken blood to check for infection.

And I've developed a cough! :( hope everyone else is more successful in their pregnancies!

mrsmummytobe · 15/03/2014 14:47

applecrumble it's so stressful isn't it, not knowing when we'll be moving! Even if we had to wait if we had a definite date & knew for certain we'd be moving in then it would be easier. I'm hoping we'll know a bit more in a week or so but this whole process is making me so stressed and emotional.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 14:55

Wow Nanny sounds like it's all go there Shock

Still no news on flat. If we've not heard anything by end of next week we'll call them and just ask if there's any progress/news to report. Hmm getting nervous now! This is the difference between us being together or two hours apart after the birth Shock

Think I'm getting close to breaking point now with this pain, the cocodamol isn't easing it, I've nearly run out and I doubt they'll give me more because of how addictive it is Sad not sure what they're expecting me to do when it does run out because the pain is unbearable without painkillers, think it'll be a case of turning up at GP/out of hours and begging for help!

mummytobe88 · 15/03/2014 16:07

Hello all!

Been lurking for days now but not had a chance to post.

After pretty much bragging last weekend that I've had a brilliant pregnancy I ended up in hospital on Monday night with crippling stomach/back pain which they suspected was a kidney stone. Pain eased and was sent home then ended up straight back in hospital on Tuesday after being up all night throwing up not even able to keep water down. Turns out I was very dehydrated had lucozytes, ketones and blood in my urine, put on a drip (3 bags!) and kept in overnight. After a lovely dose of painkillers on top of the drip I felt like a new woman on Wednesday!! Eventually got home Wednesday night but now have a UTI and on antibiotics. It has certainly been an interesting week! My OH has been amazing as well as this was his Cheltenham week off work but has been a massive support and stayed with me in hospital as much as he could.

mrsmummy I'm also moving house in June!! It's a new build house so we don't have a set date quite yet just hope nothing goes disastrously wrong before then!!

Sorry for the rant there folks

SarahJinx · 15/03/2014 16:57

Blimey Nanny, when will you know for sure? Lots of monitoring now and infection checks ahead?

all credit to those of you having to deal with moving actual house! I'm stressed as I can be clearing all our crap stuff to just make way for a new baby. DH is mega hoarder of just about everything, our house is bursting at the seams. Finding places for new storage, systems occupies far too much of my time!!

I've spent the afternoon, sat,on my arse at soft play. It was utter bliss, we don't go very often but coffee and cake and gossips with my sisters while D neice and nephew occupy DS = a v rare chance to relax.

MrsFooCough · 15/03/2014 17:13

Oohhhhh BLISS - my proper pregnancy/labour/birth ball arrived. It's aces. I had a shitty £6 exercise one before that was ok to sit on but it kind of frightened me that it had no burst resistance so I sat absolutely stock still on it! This one however can take 300kg (!!!) and has burst resistance so if it pops, it lets down gradually Smile rather than like a balloon Shock

Been being really good, low fat things, less carbs and lots of protein over the last few days, hoping that will show at my appointment on Wednesday. Must remember to hassle the day centre on Monday to give me details of my appointment actually, they've been slow at getting back to me!

Chip86 · 15/03/2014 19:07

Sorry to hear so many of you are suffering take care

wow i can not imagin moving hope it goes well for thouse of you who are moving

mrsfoo that made me laugh hehehe

Good news been signed off for a week because of the headache yay no work, was feeling sad today cried for no reason so DH took me for a walk in the sun, felt much better
Last week when in hospital i was on a monitor and they said i had BH but i did not feel it, but now i realise i am having them every day, does this mean she could come early?

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 19:12

I've just packed and re-packed my hospital bag and cleaned the bathroom, hello nesting mode!!

Hospital bag question; I live 5 minutes from the hospital - will I be alright just taking my 'labour bag' (basically toiletries, towel, big t-shirt for after labour, dressing gown, some breast pads and mat pads, water spray, snacks and several pairs of BIG pants), as well as baby's bag, and then getting OH to bring me a separate bag with just things like clean nightie, clean clothes as and when I need it?

dobedobedo · 15/03/2014 19:24

chip I've been able to feel braxton hicks since about week 8 or earlier. It doesn't mean baby will come early, it's normal.

moomin that sounds okay to me! However you might need clean nighty with you as things get very bloody etc in labour.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 15/03/2014 19:46

thanks dobe - big t-shirt is one I basically use as a nightie (also got a stretchy vest in for labour, forgot to include that Blush ) but I'll put an extra nightie in just in case it's a while before OH can bring clean stuff. Thanks :)

randdom · 15/03/2014 19:46

Still suffering with my cold but fingers crossed I may be turning a corner. My husband has also gone out at got lots of green veg with plans to cook me a risotto to "get lots of vitamins into me" which is very sweet and actually exactly what I feel I need!

Random questions. I am looking into muslins and I really don't know how many to get and where is good value, does anyone have any ideas?

Am also trying to track down a good pregnancy blog as the person I was reading seems to have disappeared :( any suggestions?
