Sounds like a lovely day katherine

topmammy remember that scans are an awful lot more accurate now than they were when your mum was pregnant. The head is one if many things they measure at the 20 week scan, if it's measuring particularly large then you'll be able to discuss it with your MW/consultant. Try not to worry too much in the meantime.

Top if your worried about the baby having a large head then think about different birthing positions. Squatting or kneeling on all fours will open the pelvis wider then being on your back

Also of may be worth looking into hypnobirthing as this will calm you and your body therefore relaxing the muscles and making birth easier

TheOnlySeven · 02/03/2014 18:54

I have great experience of hypnobirthing. My pain tolerance level is pathetic, I remember being in agony in labour with DS, I even screamed in the corridor during a contraction before they finally believed I was in labour and gave me pethidine. When I was expecting DD1 I bought a natal hypnotherapy CD from Amazon, I couldn't even remember any of the techniques because I always fell asleep listening to it, apparently it still works because your sub-conscious mind remembers it. Anyway DD1 and DD2s births were a wonderful experience, while it was still painful I felt calm and completely in control, I just used gas and air for the pushing stage. I'd recommend it to anyone tbh.

Forgot to say my EDD was shifted back to sept 2 after my scan... We formally announced this week and it seems I was busted some time ago with the lack of partying ....

topmammy · 02/03/2014 19:23

Thank you :) I'll try not to worry. I'm just one of those people who annoyingly always find at least one thing to worry about. I'll also try not to read the childbirth thread haha. I have bought a natal hypnotherapy CD from Amazon so will start listening to that soon.

Just noticed this new smiley! Daffodil

Hello ladies. We've been away with no internet for the past week. So many posts to get through! I'm so glad to see all the happy scan news.

Gunwalloe I had the Verifi test at my local hospital. It's a competitor test to Harmony, but it is the one offered near me. It was so reassuring, and I got the results back very quickly. They then wouldn't do the NT test, as they said it was less accurate and could only lead to false worry. I think I would have preferred both, but can see their point. The sonographer did say that the nuchal fold itself looked fine. Good luck for tomorrow!

I'm 14 weeks or so and finally feel close to my normal self. It's amazing. Wishing you all wellbeing soon!

Cindy5389 · 02/03/2014 19:44

Ok dilemma here.. My sister knows I'm pregnant coz she went on and on about it a few weeks back and I wanted to shut her up I b honest, but no one else does. Was waiting for scan to tell parents ect. My sister says to me tonight that mum has said she is a little upset that she thinks we have been trying to get pregnant and not told her and that she would b upset if I was pregnant and haven't told her yet. It's only a week Monday til scan and that will b the next time I see her, but I'm a little concerned she will say she is upset we didn't tell her earlier :s it was dh that didn't want to tell anyone, I was more than happy to tell parents, but to be honest his mum would not keep the news a secret and u can't tell one set and not the other.

BooSurprise · 03/03/2014 07:12

cindy that is quite difficult, I would go along the lines of not wanting to tell anyone you were trying because of the extra pressure this may create if nothing happened, and that you just wanted to tell everybody together when you'd had your scan as it seems more real then. I think sometimes that the females mum (in particular) think they have more of a right to be involved/know more and kinda forget that it's your DH's baby too and he also gets a say in when to tell people. I'm sure she'll be so excited anyway that she'll forget to be miffed that she didn't know.

cookielove · 03/03/2014 07:20

I don't think I can get out of bed, I feel so sick! :(

dontevenblink · 03/03/2014 07:32

cindy we had a similar problem with telling people, with dc1 I told my mum at about 8 weeks as she'd always said she'd be upset if she didn't know early... anyway, after telling her not too, she went and told everyone our news Shock Needless to say, for dc2 and 3 we only told her after we'd had the scan, and after we'd told a couple of close relatives too. We didn't tell her this, although I did tell her how upset I was she'd told people, I just told her what a worrier I am - which she knows - and that I feel like I'm jinxing it if I tell people before.

Bit different this time with dc4 as we emigrated to New Zealand when I was pregnant with dc3, and mum was planning to book a flight to visit in April - I had to tell her when I was only just 6 weeks that she might want to come out in september instead Grin She has been brilliant this time, and didn't even tell my sister. Annoyingly it was a supposed good friend here that ended up blabbing to everyone despite being told not to Angry

dontevenblink · 03/03/2014 07:35

Poor you cookie, hope it clears soon Thanks . It's evening here but I've been in bed since 7 as just as my sickness starts to go I get a horrid summer cold Sad

isitme1 · 03/03/2014 07:45

Can someone please tell me
can I have paracetamol if im on low dose aspirin
please im in loadsa pain with toothache

Missingcaffeine · 03/03/2014 08:19

isitme yes you can have Paracetamol as well as Asprin. They work in different ways so it is safe to have both. I hope you feel better soon. And you cookie.
cindy I told my mum early-ish (7 weeks) as I knew she'd be upset if I didn't, but it then meant I had to tell OH's family too, which in a way I'd rather have waited as I'd feel very uncomfortable telling them any bad news and I think they would feel awkward around me too. They have all been desperate to tell other people but I think they've kept our secret so far! It's nice to tell people in person rather than over the phone, so that's a pretty good reason to wait. One week is not long to wait, and your mum should respect your decision - as long as you trust your sister not to let your mum know she knows!

isitme1 · 03/03/2014 08:29

Thank you missing.

I've been in agony all night. No swelling or anything but filling has come out and that tooth is now broken. Ive been trying to ring the dentist but they only have early appointments and I neee one for when ds1 is at nurseryas he haa sn he wont cope in there with all the drilling and loud noises
thank you.

Waggamamma · 03/03/2014 08:43

wow this thread moves quickly! just checking in, I joined late in the last thread.

kicksandgiggles · 03/03/2014 09:40

Found you - marking my place! I'm 13 weeks today, so officially in the third trimester. I'm feeling much more normal than I was a few weeks ago, and am going to enjoy this now and get as much done as I can before I'm massive and unable to move easily!

I've got my first appointment with the twin consultant on Friday, so looking forward to that. I really want to start talking through stuff about the birth as I had a home water birth with my DS, so am a bit nervous about the fact that this time around is going to be much more medicalised.

Happy belated birthday isitme! And sorry about your tooth. Hope you manage to get an appointment quickly.

Katharine, I honestly wouldn't worry too much. I find that I retain a lot of fluid from very early on, which accounts for a lot of the early weight gain. I am staying away from the scales for the most part. The important thing is to make sure you getting plenty of healthy foods and doing gentle exercise like walking throughout the pregnancy. I also like swimming and yoga, and am planning to get back into both now that I am feeling better.

Welcome dontevenblink, Serotonin, and Waffily!

Congrats on good scan news whiteblossom! I couldn't find a nub either, much to my disappointment.

isitme1 · 03/03/2014 09:43

Thank you k+g!
Ive got an appointment for 1 so ds can go nursery so the loud noises don't upset him.

I had a thought.

If we cant see the nub does it mean its a girl as for a boy the nub would be bigger/more obvious?

TheOnlySeven · 03/03/2014 10:22

Unless it's at the wrong angle?

I had a scary thought last night that by the time this baby comes I will have spent over 2.5 years of my left being pregnant Shock

OP posts:
rockin20s · 03/03/2014 10:36

I felt HUGE last night! really bloated. looked 5-6 months pregnant. when i was going to bed i said it to DH and his response was "don't worry about your weight till you have popped out a few babies."

thanks I'll just stay the size of a whale for the next 2-3 years so!

thankfully alot of the bloat went down over night,

can i ask: how often do ye pee during the night? i drank a few cups of de-caf tea during the day and a glass of water at about 8pm and pee'd at about 8.30pm 10pm, 4am, 6am ad 9am with no drink at all in between!!

but i pee'd a plenty during the day also so its not like my body is holding onto the pee.

TheOnlySeven · 03/03/2014 10:41

I generally never need to pee during the night, never have in any of my pregnancies. I'm well aware that I'm in a minority though. The constant peeing does tend to ease off in the second trimester but comes back during the third due to the weight of the baby by then.

isitme1 · 03/03/2014 10:51

Rockin I go to the loo 5 times beforei sleep (from 9-10.30pm)
I drink most of my water during thr day and im forever peeing! Its just one of those things lol.

Seven its shocking isnt it when you realise how long youve been pregnant!

Oxlady · 03/03/2014 12:14

I ladies, I had my dating scan this morning! It was amazing! My husband was beaming! EDD is 12th September. Smile

TheOnlySeven · 03/03/2014 12:54

Congrats oxlady :)

Afternoon alll, Ive had a chance to catch up on the thread. soooo

Thanks missingcaffine its a relief to have had the scan done Smile

I am 13+2 today (think I wrote them incorrectly the other day) and I weighed myself this morning and still no weight gain- is that normal?

Seven I'd really like to do the hypnotherapy, do you recommend the amazon one you have if so which is it. I was looking at the Katherine Graves one as I saw her on youtube and I just loved her calm voice, really reassuring.

Isitme you booth thing, there is nothing worse than tooth ache- even child birth but then Im terrified of the dentist! Hope you get sorted soon x

Thanks kicksandgiggles Grin

Im up just once in the night between 2-3am but I do drink throughout the night, usually a pint, more in the earlier months, DH had to leave a jug of water on the bedside for me Shock

oxlady congrats on the scan Smile

I ordered a maxi dress from Seraphine via John lewis. I ordered a 12 and it is huge its supposed to be fitted over shoulders/bust with concealed zip at the side but it gapes everywhere. sadly I don't think JL have anymore in stock at the sale price. It was also a foot too long!

DS seams to be starting to accept that Im pregnant. He kindly offered to share his room with the new baby-bless, then asked if I was really pg!?

Has anyone considered looking at the skull theory for boy/girl guesses. I think mine looks like a girl based on that but who knows!!

I was in m&s earlier and looked at the baby stuff, I was temped to buy something-only muslins but I just couldn't bring myself to, not sure why?

sorry for the essay!! Grin hope your all well xx

whiteblossom · 03/03/2014 13:12

isitme I ment to say you poor thing!
