Hi all, I have my BFP and due 30th October. It's my third baby and was 2 weeks late with the last two so bound to be November.

Anybody else for November yet? I know it's very very early :)

welcome and congratulations to all the new mummy to be's Grin

ive been given my booking appointment, 3 weeks tomorrow eeekkkGrin

Wilhelminanevillesdottir · 03/03/2014 18:17

I also have my appointment Winter. Want to ask my mum to come to look after my daughter whilst I go to it so I'll need to think up a good white lie as to where I'm going.

I also find the first three months quite frustrating. You feel a bit safer after the first scan. Last time I felt great for the final 6 months so hope it is the same this time round.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 03/03/2014 18:26

Hi all! Welcome HRmumness!

Work was so strange today but don't realise how much I feel stress in my stomach! (Had an inspection today!) But went very well!

I have told parents and brothers and sisters!

I have looked into having an early scan as I can't wait 12 weeks! This place I've seen does it from 6 but I think I'd like 8/9 weeks! Smile

MammySam · 03/03/2014 18:47

Congrats on your booking apt winter I made my apt today, is next Monday 10th march! Eek! :D

WinterLover · 03/03/2014 19:22

They wont see you till your min 8 weeks here.

I wouldn't mind an early scan, with DS I had one at 5 weeks and one at 7 weeks. Was reassuring to see baby was where it was meant to be but cant afford one private Sad

RandomInternetStranger · 03/03/2014 19:57

I'd love an early scan in theory but would want the 10 week one as well so I can see the little heart beat and hear it and see actual features etc. I had one at 6 weeks before and it was just a circle. The 10 week one with DD was much more detailed and human looking. Smile

The days are so dragging! Roll on 12 weeks!

WinterLover · 03/03/2014 21:34

I just hope Im not in a position to have an early scan again. As much as it was nice to see baby, it was a scary 3 weeks

LittleMissSunshine33 · 04/03/2014 06:46

Is anyone else thinking that everything they do is due to them being pregnant??

Am so tired but seem to be awake more during the night, I am really hungry in the mornings, I have a cold and I am gassy! ... It's probably nothing to do with pregnancy Wink

Giraffeski · 04/03/2014 06:53

I was thinking the very same thing last night! Am boring even myself with it now!

Nessalina · 04/03/2014 07:33

Yup, am overanalysing everything!!

Stuff that is almost certainly real:
Definitely more hungry, and waking up earlier (bang on 6am to wee!). Digestive system has gone haywire! Bizarrely, the boobs aren't too bad.

Stuff I think I'm likely making up:
Sense of smell stronger. Tired and irritable (this may just be usual!). Feeling easily nauseous. Craving crisps! Grin

booksshoescats · 04/03/2014 09:57

Hi everyone - and congratulations! Wow thread getting busy now - I knew I'd be rubbish catching up. Saw nurse on Sat and have booking in 31 March 31 (which will be 10 wks according to LMP but more like 9 according to when I know I conceived!). Have decided in the end not to go for an early scan as it feels like faff of organising so DH and I can both go and also get care for DD is more stress than waiting an extra few weeks. First place (private hospital) quoted me £292 ShockShockShock. Then found somewhere for £80 that sounded really good, but even so, I think I'm just going to spend it on nice mat clothes instead, once I'm big enough - fingers crossed!

random I'm still having a cup of coffee a day and a cup or two of green tea. Is that really bad? I've done a bit of research and no one seems to agree absolutely but 200mg seems OK. What freaked you out in particular?

Re nesting , I sorted out all mine and DD's clothes, drawers, wardrobes, etc., on Sunday in a mad flurry of tidying and I have BIG PLANS for our flat. DH is just nodding and agreeing to everything I suggest with a crazed newly pg look on my face.

booksshoescats · 04/03/2014 10:13

Just wanted to share this article by the excellent Emily Oster. A nice tonic for those of us who don't like being told what to do during pregnancy by a bunch of lazy journalists trotting out semi-digested 'evidence'! Her book looks really good too.

ohthegoats · 04/03/2014 10:42

Gate crashing from October, I have that book, it's the best thing ever. It's a good one for men too. Just the facts.

Greenstone · 04/03/2014 10:47

We have a family member staying for a few weeks at the minute (it's going to be hard to hide the pg Confused), so I haven't yet started out the Big Clear. Itching to do it though. Am dreaming of storage, sweet, sweet storage...

Oh yes, books, you reminded me. Now I know I should know this from the last time, but when I took a ClearBlue digital test a few days ago it said I was 2-3weeks pregnant and that a doctor would call this 4-5 weeks pregnant. However it also said a doctor would date my pregnancy from my LMP, not from when I conceived.

Going from when I KNOW I conceived (Feb 14th), my due date is Nov 7th.

Going from the first date of my LMP (25th Jan) my due date is Nov 1st.

But I'm thinking that if I know for sure when I ovulated, the doctor will go with the 7th Nov due date...right?

Greenstone · 04/03/2014 10:53

In other news I am so feeling the bloat Shock My jeans are tight already. Wahh!

RandomInternetStranger · 04/03/2014 11:03

Interesting article. I don't tend to automatically go with whatever the latest study says, I mean 8 years ago when I had my daughter it was don't eat peanuts, now it's have a portion a week. When my mum was having me my grandmother force fed her liver twice a week, now it causes birth defects. I tend to do my own thing for my own peace of mind. I figure if I wouldn't feed it to the baby out of the womb I'm not going to feed it to the baby in utero. I just have this mental image every time I do anything of doing it to the baby and it instantly puts me off - a newborn sucking on a bottle of wine or coke or eating pureed kebabs, instantly makes me reach for water and organic veg! Grin It's how I gave up a 40 a day smoking habit once I got the bfp, just imagine the baby with a fag in its mouth, suddenly I'm not craving it anymore!

Nessalina · 04/03/2014 11:14

I'm weaning myself off caffeine, keeping under the 200mg, but generally having more like 40-120. Basically a tea or coffee in the morning and then a tea, coffee or coke at lunch time. Last pregnancy as soon as I started to be nauseous I couldn't stomach it, but by then I'd lowered my levels enough that I didn't get bad withdrawal headaches. If I went cold turkey I'd be in so much pain!! Shock

RandomInternetStranger · 04/03/2014 11:19

From my LMP I'd be due 23rd Oct but from the date I conceived I'm due 1st Nov. My GP noted both but I insisted as I only had sex once this month, it is the only possible day and as DD was an elective caesarean booked early I don't want to risk them doing that again and booking me too early. I am pretty insistent about things to do with my pg & baby. My due date is 1st Nov, no little card wheel is going to tell me otherwise. Grin

Greenstone · 04/03/2014 11:33

I have a little espresso cup and I'm drinking 2 of those filled with filter coffee. It's still coming in as less than one big cup so that'll do me.

This is a really nice ginger tea for when the nausea does hit by the way.

Whereabouts are you all? I'm in Ireland.

Greenstone · 04/03/2014 11:37

Random thanks, that's what I needed to hear! I definitely know my dates. Where I am you only get one scan on the public health system :( at 20 weeks. Last time we paid for a private one at 12 weeks I think most people do. We'll do the same this time should we make it that far, and I figure that will sort out the due date stuff.

DD arrived bang on her due date, but I guess that doesn't mean anything for subsequent babies!

RandomInternetStranger · 04/03/2014 11:56

I don't trust dating scans. They always had DD 1-2 weeks ahead of where she was because she was so big (3 weeks early & 10lb 2oz). Going to see if I can get this one to full term & 12 lbs! Grin

booksshoescats · 04/03/2014 12:35

That's interesting, Greenstone - so they don't do a nuchal then? Is that to do with the the possibility of deciding to terminate? I'm in London, hence the requirement to take out a new mortgage to afford an early scan! You're just like me re LMP and conception but 6 days behind with dates, and I was feeling really bloated too but not so bad the last couple of days. Maybe it'll ease off in little bit...

Random - I like your baby and kebabs/booze image! I am now imagining it tucking into a pie (which is what I'll be having for dinner) Grin. The liver thing is funny - I love liver, and once read that Tilda Swinton ate it most days when she was pg with twins as she loved the way they did it in her local restaurant and had cravings for it. I just don't understand why 'they' can't preach moderation. Surely one or two servings of it in a pregnancy wouldn't be a disaster. I must admit I do feel a lot more blase and 'what will be will be' this time around. I don't have the fear I did in my first two pregnancies. The first time I really did feel something wasn't right (and it wasn't), and the second I was too terrified to relax until about 14 weeks. This time I feel that nothing I do or don't do (within reason) will make a difference, so I might as well do a bit of what I enjoy Smile

goats Thanks for the recommend - will definitely get a copy, then. If only for something to do to while away the weeks till booking in and first scan - feels like a lifetime away!

Greenstone · 04/03/2014 13:01

No, most mat hospitals don't do a nuchal on the public health system books. It's nothing to do with the possibility of terminating, it's just a funds/staffing/area issue I guess. We don't have NHS-style healthcare here, though maternity care is free and mostly fine on the Irish public health system. Unless you're high risk it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to go private for maternity care. We got a private 12-week scan for about 80 quid last time and that's not too bad. Obviously if there was any issue you'd get more scans but the standard is pretty much one.

Tigsy · 04/03/2014 13:29

Greenstone I'm in Hertfordshire. Whereabouts in Ireland are you from?
I've been to Dublin and Belfast but want to do a trip driving around the country for a week. Was talking to hubby and my parents about it last night.
