dobedobedo · 21/02/2014 11:28

I've just bought and eaten a mini eggs easter egg.

When else can I get away with this, other than when I'm pregnant?? Grin

29 weeks today!

MrsFooCough · 21/02/2014 11:30

Ugh I made a cursory reference to my bad hips to the midwife on Tuesday, she said she'd refer me to a physio, as soon as I got home I was basically crippled. This is ridiculous. I have crutches now, thankfully my dad had some a few years ago and kept them haha. But I can't balance with the crutches, it's really hard, and my arms are barely strong enough to haul my fat arse around every other step!
Have literally spent days in bed. Bored shitless and can't move except to cry on the way to the loo and to call out for someone to make me food/drink. Mum's back at school on Tuesday, god only knows what I'll do then Sad

BUT moom I'm so sorry you're having a rotten time too! And Isean with the itching! But happy birthday to spirael for yesterday, I'm afraid I've been rather blinkered with these bloody hips so other people's problems tend to pass me by Blush

Xavielli · 21/02/2014 11:39

Isean - sickness and stomach pain are also symptoms of O. If your palms and soles are still itching you need to contact a midwife NOW for blood tests. I have OC and it's miserable.

NannyPlumForPM · 21/02/2014 11:47

Oh dear, seems everyone's coming down with something now we're heading rapidly into the third trimester!

Dd has chicken pox (delightful) so I'm pretty housebound for the foreseeable future :( luckily iv already had it so shouldn't be a problem with LO. Had a phone call this morning and am also in the anaemic camp ! So it's black poo for me too I guess :)

Hope you manage to get the birth/c section you want moomin and isean , hope the itching eases up soon!

sambababy · 21/02/2014 12:38

Morning all! I'm sorry to hear about lots of you not feeling well Sad Chin up! Remember why we're doing this.

Can I ask a quick question about movements? I'm 29wks today and have heard it's good to keep an eye on reduced movements, but also if the movements become really frantic/panicky. Every now and then my baby goes totally doolally, has done for weeks, it's like they're trying to learn to doggy paddle in there or something. Do you think I should be worried about it? There's also a really fast pulsing sensation a few times a day, which I thought was hiccups but they're literally every second. That's too fast for hiccups surely?

wm3010 · 21/02/2014 12:48

Sorry so many of you are having problems - definitely means we have made it to the third trimester I suppose?!

Samba I am no expert but I think if that's your baby's routine then it's fine, it's just if they start doing it all of a sudden and didn't do it before that you have to worry. I'm sure one of the experienced mums will be along to confirm.

PotatoPolly · 21/02/2014 13:21

Just thought I'd check in and say hi to everyone- been a rough couple of days, had to go to the local day assessment unit last night and ended up having my first internal exam after wating 2 hours to be seen. The doctor had zero bedside manner and was in such a hurry, and then at my 28 week appt this morning i ended up crying to the midwife about it Blush. Also had my anti D jab this morning which wasn't pleasant either. Roll on tomorrow for a lay in!

Samba i get that- i can't even imagine what BabySpud must be doing in there to make the movements that he does!

On a side note, after my appt this morning, i am considering having the baby at my local Midwife Led Unit and the possibility of a water birth- what has everyone else decided on?

Also, I owe whoever was discussing cord cutting a thank you- it made me look into the options and I asked the midwife about it this morning and she was so informative, i think i've decided to wait until it stops pulsating before clamping and cutting.

Thanks and Wine for anyone who needs them!

McBaby · 21/02/2014 13:30

I have spent the morning at the maternity day unit as I woke up and couldn't catch my breath properly and very light headed. Everything is fine with me and baby.

The doctor thinks it is because I'm borderline anaemic combined with low BP.

Anyone prescribed iron what were your hb levels?

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 13:58

McBaby Hb was 104 at 28wk bloods, 99 as of yesterday.

impatientlywaiting · 21/02/2014 14:06

McBaby I don't know what my levels were at booking in, but at 29 weeks they were 95 and that's when I was prescribed the tablets.

Every time that they've checked my blood pressure it's been fine, but I've started feeling sick, faint and hot nearly every day, and I feel like I need to lie down for it to pass. Not a huge problem when I'm working from home (had to do a conference call from bed earlier on) but I've been on the trains lots this week and it's awful when it happens there. Think I'm going to call my midwife and ask her about it.

Wow we're all feeling rubbish today.

impatientlywaiting · 21/02/2014 14:12

McBaby Just looking through my notes to find midwifes number and saw my HB at 8 weeks was 117.

Bornin1984 · 21/02/2014 14:16

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 15:24

Sorry to hear there's so many feeling rubbish at the minute! Guess it's true that the 2nd trimester is the best and easiest for most people.

Bornin1984 · 21/02/2014 16:29

Feeling fed up this afternoon!

So bloody tired and cold!!! I can't wait for my son to come along but I certainly can't wait not to be pregnant!! It's giving me pregnancy rage bbSmile

ClearlyMoo · 21/02/2014 17:59

Achy arm! However baby and I now inoculated against Whooping Cough, Diptheria, Tetanus and Polio so W00t go us!

Re iron (actually haemoglobin level measured) levels... at booking I was 118g/l and at 26+3 I was 111g/l (sometimes shown as 11.8g/dL and 11.1g/dL they just changed their units!)

The cut off point for anaemia varies it seems so I've been looking into this (googling) and you're classified anaemic at different stages at different levels!

Seems average woman anaemic below 118

At booking anaemic if under 110

Anaemic at 28 weeks if under 105.

After having baby the diagnostic level is 100!!

So I was 118 at booking and 111 at 28(ish) hence why she said I was "borderline"

That said I now feel like tigger after a week on iron tabs and don't think it's a coincidence!!

And my never ending week of work has finished! having worked 11 out of the last 12 days I am shattered and am very very much looking forward to my 4 day weekend!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 18:26

I've decided not to start iron tabs and block myself up again until the other medicines have had time to work... so I feel like I have the worst tummy bug in history, and I'm too run down to even get out of the house for a walk. Hoping it'll be worth it to not block myself up again Sad and then I can start on the iron tablets in time for the birth.

ClearlyMoo · 21/02/2014 18:56

Poor Moomin! PRUNE JUICE is your friend... As big a glass as you can bear!

OP posts:
MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 19:01

Problem is I'm throwing up too and can barely manage orange juice and toast at the moment Sad prune juice may be a step too far Grin

Minions · 21/02/2014 19:28

Sorry so many are having a rough time, here's Thanks for you all. It's friday night now, weekend at last! I've got my third antenatal yoga class tomorrow. If anyone's thinking about doing it, I'd recommend it. Lots of breathing techniques (which may help with birth) but mostly I like it as a really relaxing hour.

samba I asked my midwife about times when I feel as if the baby is almost shaking. She didn't think it was anything to worry about. I have a very active one, tummy moves all over the place!

xalyssx · 21/02/2014 19:35

Gabriel has been moved from London to Ashford so I am now able to see him more regularly and stay at home. Also he can see his brother at this hospital when he couldn't at King's. He is getting on really well so I am very happy.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 19:48

Great news alyss, hope you're all keeping ok xx Thanks

sambababy · 21/02/2014 20:00

Lovely news alyss, I bet you can't wait to get him home soon.

Thanks ladies for putting my mind at rest about my hyperactive baby!

Feeling so tired this week. Sometimes it's like I just hit a wall and can do nothing but lie down. The iron tablets haven't helped me in that respect!

mummytobe88 · 21/02/2014 20:25

samba I've been having the exact same thing this week. Feels almost like baby is vibrating! Very very strange. I'm just enjoying the massive amount of movement now and take it as a good thing Smile

alyss that's great news!
