Fab news Alyss.

Hugs to those who need it and Thanks too.

Think I'm going to strangle DH...

Kids on half term from today (week later than most) so I worked until midnight last night and up early with the kids this morning as had mindee arriving at 8am. Anyway, went for a drive with DH this evening I had to take a couple if deep breaths as felt rough. DH was like 'What's up?!' and I tell him I feel a bit ropey. So then he's like 'Well you should just stop going to work and stay in bed until the baby is born' only really sarcastic rather than sympathetic. Then DD starts shouting down from her bed so I go to her and settle her. She shouts again so I ask DH to go and he's like - well she's shouting you, why should I go?! Aaargh!!!!

Sorry to rant I just had to get it out!! X x

Squiffie · 21/02/2014 20:39

^^can't do links from my phone, you're just showing off now Xavielli Wink

Choppa · 21/02/2014 20:41

Hey everyone. New thread already!

29 weeks on Monday... Can't wait it finish work in 7 weeks and 2 days (who's counting) .

Did my last trip abroad with work this week to Amsterdam. All went well until I went it get my train to Schipol when I tripped on the cobbled street and hit the deck!! Ripped open my trousers at the knee, knees and hand all bloody and some kind of damage done to my finger!! This bloke just cycled on past me as I lay in the street trying to get up!! Knob. Felt very shaky and vulnerable all the way back to Birmingham. Decided against a planned trip to Gothenburg in a few weeks....so no more travel for me, phew! All is fine with baby Chops but it really did make me think I need to slow it down. Now just left with grazed knees and am minus one pair of very nice maternity work trousers :(

On the plus side nursery is now almost finished. It's painted and carpet down. Just need to get some curtains and put the cot up. Pretty much have everything else from last time but need to start thinking about hospital bag and home birth stuff.

Not sure who was asking about water birth (sorry) but I am planning home water birth which is what I had with my DS1. It was very good for me for pain relief and I was so huge I found being mobile in the water made things much easier. Need to buy a liner for the pool but otherwise good to go!

loopylou52 · 21/02/2014 20:51

xav I just sent you FB friend request - hope you don't mind adding me too?

Great news Alyss!

Sorry so many people are having a tough time Thanks

mummytobe88 · 21/02/2014 20:51

Thanks xavielli Smile

McBaby · 21/02/2014 20:52

Alyss so glad he is moving closer.

My hb levels have dropped from 13.6 at booking to 11.7 at 27 weeks and now 11 at 30 weeks this combined with a BP of 90/60 is making me feel rubbish.

Lots of water, salty food, green veg and beef for me :)

Xavielli · 21/02/2014 21:20

Should both be in :)

Ugh - Squiffie! Men are shit sometimes.. :(

Isean · 21/02/2014 22:08

Thanks for the advice from everyone earlier. I had blood taken, but don't really know what's going on.
I phoned my midwife about 11am and left a message, she phoned me back at 3.45pm, said I would need a blood test. She wouldn't do it as they close at 4.30pm, but would check with the day case unit and phone me back. She then called back and said she'd made me an appointment at my doctor's surgery and to go there straightaway. I did this and the surgery weren't really too sure what was going on, but the doctor who takes the emergency appointments would see me. He made it clear he was not happy I was there, he said "you shouldn't be here, you should be at the day case unit. If you have problems today we won't be able to get the baby out of you in an emergency here, will we?!" Shock He told me to go and ask at reception for someone to take my blood while he phoned my midwife (it was close to 5pm by this point). A while later he came to tell me he couldn't get the midwife as they finished at 4.30pm and getting blood taken at the surgery was a waste of time as I shouldn't be seen by them and they wouldn't send my blood to the lab that late on a Friday afternoon anyway, so I have to phone the midwife on Monday to get an appointment at the day case unit if she thinks it's necessary.
Anyway, the nurse took my blood and I ended up having to deliver my own sample to the blood science lab at the hospital!
No-one offered any advice on how to deal with the itching or when I would get results or anything.
AIBU to feel annoyed with the whole thing?

And the itching is driving me insane tonight!!!

loopylou52 · 21/02/2014 22:15

Oh my god isean, that's ridiculous! Presume the day assessment unit will be open tomorrow - could you call them for advice? Maybe ice-packs or cold flannels to help the itching in the meantime?

Thanks for the FB add xav. It's funny trying to work out who is who on there!

Bornin1984 · 21/02/2014 22:19

Isean..... U shud ring
Your triage unit! That's appealing

Bornin1984 · 21/02/2014 22:19

Appalling even

dobedobedo · 21/02/2014 22:34

Gosh isean that sounds like shocking treatment. Can you call the hospital maternity unit or something for something more immediate?

It's hard to keep up with this thread today! I've tried to dip in and out all day but keep getting distracted by ds or the phone or whatever. Glad to hear Gabriel is doing well alyss.

Baby has been having quite a quiet day today. Kicks and movements haven't had much force behind them. I think he's transverse again. Hmm

Is anyone else terrified that something will happen their baby before they're born? I do. I might even mention it to my midwife. I think I was the same with ds. Even as I was giving birth, I was convinced he wouldn't survive. I think I'd like baby to be monitored closely when I'm in labour.

I'm rambling now, I know. I hope everyone is well and those who are having a hard time feel better again soon. Thanks

ClearlyMoo · 21/02/2014 22:38

Isean that is actually outrageous! I'm sorry they treated you like that! A friend who had a lot of 3rd trimester itching (not related to OC thankfully) highly recommended putting moisturiser in the fridge for an hour before using it. Hope you get your results super soon and that it puts your mind at rest.

Achy achy arm here post WC etc jab. Started work at 5.30am and stopped at 7 tonight. More to do tomorrow for a presentation on Monday. Don't know what to wear as need to feel smart and professional.

Lovely curry out with DH tonight. 3 years since we met this week. My curry was yummy only had tikka massala but was researching spicer options for two months time....!

Sorry for all the poorly people. Hang on in there!!

Think my nausea yesterday was just smelly guys at work. They seriously pong. Yuk and all the issues with toilets not working stressing me out!

Xavielli · 21/02/2014 23:08

Ugh Isean that's disgusting!!! Both times I've had itching been sent to delivery suite as the DAU has been closed. Your whole treatment has been dreadful. You are allowed piriton ( chlorphenamine) for the itching. I really can't believe how shit they've been considering they had me in ASAP on a Sunday!

Squiffie · 21/02/2014 23:09

Isean that's a disgraceful way to treat any patient! I hope things get sorted and handled better ASAP. I agree that maybe phone triage over the weekend if you're really concerned. I'd be wanting to put in a formal complaint against the doctor/surgery too.

Xavielli · 21/02/2014 23:12

For itchy hands and feet I pop them in cool water or touch the walls as they are cold too. I find even when my hands and feet aren't specifically itchy they're hot and tingly. It's unrelenting. I took my piriton at 9pm and went to bed and I'm back up scratch

Xavielli · 21/02/2014 23:12

*scratching already!

ClearlyMoo · 22/02/2014 03:40

Been awake for two hours. Luckily we have no plans for tomorrow (Sat) except me WORKING to get my presentation done for Monday. Gah! Even manages to wake DH and get sympathy and (very sleepy) cuddle, but alas another loo trip, raging thirst, heart burn and aching arm. I've just taken two paracetamol. I know it's "ok" but not ideal. First time I've taken it in months and I'm clearly a wuss about post WC jab achy arm but ouch!

Hoping now I'm wee-ed, watered, gaviscon and paracetemolled I might relax enjoy baby kicking and drift off for a bit more rest! DH now snoring. I love him but Shock

Isean I am sorry you have had such a horrible time. Your midwife should have done something to get you to the hospital if she was that worried. Your GP surgery on a Friday afternoon was an inappropriate place to send you (most have no facility to get bloods or samples transferred to the hospital after early afternoon and at that time would not have been there when the bloods came back) this is probably why they were frustrated and stressed. If you had bloods done yesterday then the results for your liver function should be available today (though bile acids can take a lot longer. Your matter it triage should have the facility to check the results if you call and can bring you in if they are abnormal or at least put something in place for Monday.

In the meantime loratidine is another antihistamine you could try which is safe

Sorry you have had a hard time :(

SarahJinx · 22/02/2014 08:20

Morning ladies

Glorious day here, DS1 and I are cuddled up watching Henry Hugglmonster and tying to summon the energy to haul ass off the sofa and get dressed and out! Don't know about anyone else but the nights of weeping, painful fanjo and hips and just not being able to get comfortable are starting to take their toll??

Lovely news Alyss, I keep looking at your little miracle boy in wonderment, so good to hear update that he's doing well, hope you are too.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and got the basics ready, nappies, wipes, breast and mat pads, lansinoh, cotton wool, big pants and basic toiletries and now feel like I've made a start! Mothercare got a price match on quite a bit, so also got a new steriliser and a small pack of new bottles for emergencies. I can have a baby now! Top tip, matalan do the softest, biggest cotton bloomers for four quid a pack in black and white and they are perfect for after, so much nicer than paper pants - I had the same last time and still sneak a pair on now and again when I think I will, nan pants but so comfy!

Now if I could just work that pesky pram out! It's at my in laws and i only get to play with it when I'm there!

Sorry about your awful treatment Isean, that's rubbish.

SarahJinx · 22/02/2014 08:22

Oh god, not 'weeping, painful fanjo...' That sounds horrific! Should be 'weeing, painful fanjo, etc...'

Shock
Chip86 · 22/02/2014 09:28

Off to a wedding today, and in lieu of fabulous new dress or heels, it's going to be all about accessories.
