No experience, NannyPlum, but we might be in the same situation! Got a holiday booked with the inlaws for mid-July for a cottage 1.5 hours away. I'm not due until the end of May, so if I go overdue by two weeks and DD2 doesn't arrive until mid-June then she might only be 4 weeks old.
Fortunately the inlaws are lovely and have said that if circumstances mean it'd be difficult to travel then we don't have to come along or they'll just take DD1 with them or similiar.
I seem to remember last time it took me a good eight weeks or so before I felt anything like normality returning and didn't have the constant fear that all my internal organs were about to drop out. But then I needed quite a few stitches. Avoid that and you might be absolutely fine!
If you can manage the journey then at least you can curl up on the sofa and be waited on hand and foot.
I seem to remember a few days in that period last time where DD1 hit a growth spurt and fed from 7am to 11pm without stopping...
It's my birthday today, not that anyone beyond my family seems to have remembered. But ah well, it's a bit of a non-date anyway! My lovely family clubbed together to get me a new camera, which'll be perfect for taking pictures of my girls. :)
Can't indulge in food much however, at work today and got my GTT first thing tomorrow morning. Eating copious amounts of cake this evening and starting the test on a sugar spike might cause problems-!
