Whoopin cough was less painful than anti d, I had no trouble with side effect yesterday and slept ok over night!

I thought 28 week blood was only a full blood count ?

bushprincess · 20/02/2014 06:09

long that sounds how I was feeling before I got checked - I just popped to my GP for the Hb to be checked and felt better quite quickly after the iron (despite the constipation!)

dobe good to hear that some cramping is normal - I've been gettitng a 'stitch'like pain in the bottom right of my bump when I push things (walk fast with the hounds or try and push it in the pool a bit more) am trying to listen and slow down whenever I feel it!

bushprincess · 20/02/2014 06:17

oh, and mrsfoo you probably have lost weight if you've only put on 1.5kg as by now baby + placenta must weigh at least that (then add on the extra fluid ect... means the original 'you' must have shrunk!!!)

If MW was happy with your weight that's the main thing!

loopylou52 · 20/02/2014 07:20

Nanny, I had the whooping cough vaccine on Monday and only symptom is that my arm is still a bit sore.

I've started to struggle with feeling like I can't breath properly sometimes too and need to stretch backwards. It's strange though as baby seems to be low down and I don't get any kicks near the ribs etc. I'm wondering if I've outgrown my bras again as I get a lot of relief from undoing it (not one for the office though!).

I still can't tell what position baby is in (despite having read the belly mapping stuff) and midwife wouldn't tell me at my 28 week appointment (said it was too early to tell Hmm ).

Good luck to anyone with GTT, bloods, scans etc coming up. I'm relieved they haven't said I need GTT, I feel queezy about needles at the best of times, but without having had food?! I was feeling really sick and funny before my WC injection and had to keep sucking sweets - I'm such a wimp, how am I going to give birth?!

randdom · 20/02/2014 07:27

I had my hb checked in my booking bloods. I think they often take a baseline then. If you are tired then even through a telephone consultation with your GP you should be able to organise a blood test. If you feel awful I wouldn't wait 4 weeks.

I swear this baby has been trying to force their way out of my stomach this morning! So much stretching and a proper bump appeared coming out of my stomach!

wm3010 · 20/02/2014 07:57

I had WC injection and 28 week bloods on Tuesday, pleased to report the only side effect of WC is that my arm feels like it has a bruise around the injection site but only really notice it if I push on the area. I did get the nurse to do it in my right arm though as I am trying to sleep on the left.

All this chat about appointments has reminded me I still have my urine sample in my handbag - ewww! Lucky it's in a ziplock bag. Isn't pregnancy glamourous sometimes...

NannyPlumForPM · 20/02/2014 08:37

Oooooh wm - me too! I think we should get a new pot each time tbh....

I have a question As I fear I've done something ridiculous! We always go away with my mum and dad to a uk haven type site yearly (usually as well as a foreign hol with them). We definitely ARENT flying with a baby this time- been there and done that.

Holiday has been booked for 16th June... And I was really happy And excited - but just added up dates and if baby goes overdue then she'll only be 5 weeks old! Is this complete Madness or more sensible than waiting until 5 months etc as they just sleep a lot of the time?

Mums quite hands-on (good thing) and will happily do night feeds if she's asked/will offer if we're struggling etc but without being overbearing iykwim. Am very lucky regarding that :)

I can't really remember early baby last time round- but does anyone have experience of holidaying with a teeny tot?

mrsmummytobe · 20/02/2014 08:58

Aww nanny, sounds like it would be great for you having your mum around to help out during the holiday. I would go for it! :) I know someone who took her baby on hol at just 10 days old & that was ok.

Agh woke up in the night with leg cramps! :(

Spirael · 20/02/2014 09:00

No experience, NannyPlum, but we might be in the same situation! Got a holiday booked with the inlaws for mid-July for a cottage 1.5 hours away. I'm not due until the end of May, so if I go overdue by two weeks and DD2 doesn't arrive until mid-June then she might only be 4 weeks old. Confused

Fortunately the inlaws are lovely and have said that if circumstances mean it'd be difficult to travel then we don't have to come along or they'll just take DD1 with them or similiar.

I seem to remember last time it took me a good eight weeks or so before I felt anything like normality returning and didn't have the constant fear that all my internal organs were about to drop out. But then I needed quite a few stitches. Avoid that and you might be absolutely fine!

If you can manage the journey then at least you can curl up on the sofa and be waited on hand and foot. Grin I seem to remember a few days in that period last time where DD1 hit a growth spurt and fed from 7am to 11pm without stopping...

It's my birthday today, not that anyone beyond my family seems to have remembered. But ah well, it's a bit of a non-date anyway! My lovely family clubbed together to get me a new camera, which'll be perfect for taking pictures of my girls. :)

Can't indulge in food much however, at work today and got my GTT first thing tomorrow morning. Eating copious amounts of cake this evening and starting the test on a sugar spike might cause problems-!

Bornin1984 · 20/02/2014 09:24

Happy birthday!!! Thanks

My birthday was in January! I was 30!! I "only" got 6 cards! Nine from my friends or my sisters or any of my family!! :-( I'm still rather hurt by it,
As one of my cards came from the bloody holiday rep!

mrsmummytobe · 20/02/2014 09:47

Happy birthday Spirael! :)

NannyPlumForPM · 20/02/2014 10:10

Thank you! I've been showing dd the pics this morning and she's really excited! Needed to put a name down on the booking form and date of birth for dd2! So Poppy Delilah it is Grin and apparently she WILL be born on Sunday 4th may Hmm , if only we could do that in rl!

Happy happy birthday spirael!

dobedobedo · 20/02/2014 10:10

Happy Birthday Spirael! xxx

bushprincess · 20/02/2014 10:18

happy birthday Spirael!!! Thanks

Spirael · 20/02/2014 10:29

Thanks all! :) DD1 gave me a card earlier that she'd made herself and written in, which melted my heart! It's lovely watching your little ones grow into big ones. (Not that being 3YO is particularly big yet-!)

She's apparently going to help me blow out my candles later, as I have too many to blow out by myself. Hmm Grin

Sorry your 30th was a bit rubbish, Bornin. :( Reminds me of my 21st, where the only thing my friends gave me was a stinking cold. I was dosed up and spent a feverish day in bed - not exactly what I'd been planning!

hobbjobb · 20/02/2014 10:49

Happy birthday spirael!

Xavielli · 20/02/2014 11:11

Happy birthday Spirael!

LongTailedTit · 20/02/2014 11:22

Thank you for the iron advice ladies, I think I'll call my GP and see if I can just start iron supplements straight away, she may not need to see me.

Happy BD Spirael! Cake

ClearlyMoo · 20/02/2014 11:35

Not only are the toilets on the floor I work on not working today but the coffee machine (I like the hot choc) also out of order. Smelly man I sit next to is very very odorous today and I think I might be getting nausea again, like first tri when I felt quesy unless I ate something! Had to stop at services 20min from home for loo and food today! Hope it's not a new phase and just an off day. I'm 28+6 tomorrow and booked in for WC jab, will try to get it in my right arm so I can still sleep on left!!

Happy Birthday oh no I've forgotten who's birthday it is and I am on phone so can't check back! Ummmmm happy birthday to you...

And belated wishes to BornIn, that sounds sad x

Day after whooping cough and I feeling rough - just like when u get te flu jab! Don't really want to go to work!

MrsFooCough · 20/02/2014 12:26

Ohhh birthdays are rotten. My mum said in passing that this birthday isn't even going to be any fun as I should ask for thing for the baby. SOD OFF THIS IS MY LAST BABY-FREE BIRTHDAY and I want to be SELFISH Angry just one last bout of selfishness before Bean comes along and forces altruism on me ~grumble grumble~
In nicer news my grandma gave me £100 cash for my birthday (a month early as she wants me to buy myself some nice things and she's rubbish at waiting) so I think I might be able to get a new pair of maternity trousers possibly...needing not-jeans, the denim section under bump gets really uncomfortable on my delicate-feeling days Sad it's quite horrible really. I think I must be carrying quite low because when I sit in the car wearing the jeans I can feel Bean kicking almost under my bump, VERY STRANGE indeed.

So basically I need to ask what maternity jeggings/treggings/slightly-tougher-than-leggings people have been enjoying? I'll probably need a size 20, and suggestions for people of less-than-average-height are welcomed because I swear most overbump panels start about halfway up my bump. Ridiculous.

impatientlywaiting · 20/02/2014 13:06

Happy Birthday Spireal. It's my 30th birthday 10 days after my due date and I'm convinced that I'll still be pregnant and feeling really uncomfortable so I doubt I'll make any plans for it.

mrsmummytobe · 20/02/2014 15:49

Mrsfoo I've got 2 really comfy pairs of maternity jeans - 1 was from topshop & is under the bump, the other is from Jojo maman bebe & comes a bit higher up. I got a pair of maternity leggings from asos, not worn them yet tho.

I was looking for feeding tops & pjs today but haven't bought anything yet. Had a look in mothercare but couldn't find anything nice. Some quite nice pjs though with the nursing clip bits on the top.

mrsmummytobe · 20/02/2014 15:50

Sorry mrsfoo, misread your post & didn't see that you don't want jeans!! Ignore my jeans talk then:)
