Wow, isean, fab news - congratulations! (Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly though.)

loopylou52 · 18/02/2014 22:55

pickle - I have the natal hypnotherapy cds and have done the relaxation one a couple of times. I kept falling asleep last time! I can't tell yet how much it will help me but I figure anything is worth a try!

Hezbean · 18/02/2014 23:08

Many congratulations isean! Exciting times ahead :)

mumof2aimingfor3 · 19/02/2014 07:17

Congratulations isean have you got an idea of wedding dates/venues etc. I love weddings.

On the wedding note XAV we are getting married in August 2015 at Lulworth Castle. I know from past posts that your a dab hand on tthe cake making. Do you do big(ish) orders? I.e. 200 cup cakes and a single round cake (for us to traditionally cut) not sure on decoration on top ro be honest but the cutting one would be fruit cake I guess and the cup cakes sponge.

Pigletin · 19/02/2014 07:25

Congratulations isean !! So exciting!

ClearlyMoo · 19/02/2014 07:54

Awhhhhh congratulations Isean!

Morning all! NCT classes have started going to pub AFTER class (which finishes at 9.30pm)! Got home after 11! I'm a tired tired bunny! Lovely to get to know the gang though!!!

I haven't felt my baby move properly since 11am yesterday, I have felt the odd what could've been tiny movement but last few days he/she's been super active and now NOTHING!

WFH this morning so I'm going to drink a bottle of coke and lie propped up on my back for an hour and see if I can stir baby!

Trying hard not to worry, I've been so busy I might not have noticed movement...

Oo mumof3 exciting! Lulworth castle is gorgeous, fantastic place for a wedding! I don't do orders of more than 24 cupcakes as I just don't have the facilities to store them (or the patience to ice them all)

rebeccax2 · 19/02/2014 08:34

hand up low iron blood result here too!

So curious since my midwife didn't actually do my iron on Thursday. Anyway, I've been feeling breathless again so makes sense. I got given Spatone by a girl in my office who is pregnant and didn't need it.

That photo that alyss put of Gabriel on Facebook is so utterly beautiful!

mumof2aimingfor3 · 19/02/2014 08:55

Xav I thought that might be the case but wanted to check anyway :)

dobedobedo · 19/02/2014 09:12

clearly hope everything is okay, it probably is. I went to get checked out after much weaker and reduced movements and it turned out to be cos the baby was in a transverse position. Keep us updated!

The health visitor is coming out to see me today - they do antenatal visits here. I have no idea what exactly an antenatal visit entails! Anyone?

Better go get in the shower then. Does anyone keep having bouts of braxton hicks? For about the past week or so, I get periods of them every day. Maybe about five to seven in an hour. Body is practicing for labour - how scary is that?! Suddenly 11 weeks doesn't seem very long away at all!

Hezbean · 19/02/2014 09:15

clearly try not to worry (easier said than done I know) . Hope the coke and laying still does the job. Laying on your side is supposed to help too. If no improvement or you're still worried at all do ring the hospital and go in for a trace. I did the same the other day and they were lovely about it (even though baby wriggled so much when we got there it was almost kicking the pads off me!). Glad to hear the nct bunch are nice. Did you learn some interesting stuff? Ours starts next month.

They tested me for iron yesterday too but I haven't had results yet. He said on booking in my level was 11.5, and they'd expect it to drop one point during pregnancy, and that 10.5 was about the borderline level they'd want to see. So think I might get some spatone too as a precautionary measure.

NannyPlumForPM · 19/02/2014 09:16

Ooooh congrats isean - what a great sickness remedy! We'll put it next to ginger biscuits :) got whooping cough jab today (as does bornin I think) and midwife half an hour after! That's gonna do wonders for my bp :-D

NannyPlumForPM · 19/02/2014 09:17

I don't really know what a Braxton hick is! This is second pg but don't think I had them last time!

impatientlywaiting · 19/02/2014 10:00

Huge congratulations Isean. What a lovely day.

I a deep buying Spatone yesterday, £17 for 6 weeks supply using 3 for 2 in boots, but i thought the expense would be worth it to not be bunged up.

Hope you feel a good hard kick soon Clearly so you can put your mind at rest.

Spirael · 19/02/2014 10:14

Congratulations, isean! :)

The HV will probably just be coming around to introduce themselves and drop off a load of leaflets and information, dobedobedo. I had an antenatal visit last time around, I think it was when I was 30-something weeks.

My HV didn't go beyond the lounge, we just sat and had a chat for half an hour or so. She asked stuff like whether I was intending to breastfeed, whether I'd got a place for the baby to sleep, etc. Some HV's get a bad rap, but mine was fine. Not judgemental, just curious and making sure I had the necessary information/support for my decisions.

I think there were a few questions as well to check that I wasn't in an abusive relationship and wasn't struggling with depression. Those can feel a bit invasive, but I'd rather they asked me unnecessarily than not offer the help/support to someone who needed it! I just said no, everything was fine, and the HV ticked it off in her book without further ado.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my iron levels should be fine, I expect they'll be checked at my 28 week appointment in two weeks. Or I guess they might check them when taking the blood for my GTT on Friday. I took a course of iron tablets before falling pregnant, so my levels were ~140 at the start. (My MW was impressed-!) Since morning sickness has passed, I've been taking 1 sachet of Spatone each morning with fruit juice to try and keep the levels as high as possible.

Though speaking of morning sickness, it seems to be creeping back. :( It doesn't help that I'm struggling with insomnia and perpetually tired. I might have to see if I can persuade my work to let me work from home one day a week, as I'm beginning to struggle.

For movements, I found last time and again this time that my LOs don't seem to follow a 24 hour cycle. I seem to get 2-3 days of peace and quiet where I just feel a couple of small wiggles each day, followed by 2-3 days where they spend the entire time pummelling my insides. (Today I'm a punching bag...) Does anyone else find the same?

Has anyone else's LO found themselves a favourite position? DD2 seems to like having her head nestled in my pelvis and her bum up against my bellybutton while she kicks under my right arm. That's where I feel the majority of movement now, though she does still vary occasionally! I seem to recall DD1 was similar, so maybe the way my organs lie just makes that a comfy position for them!

ClearlyMoo · 19/02/2014 10:26

Hi again

Hmmm well the coca cola (full fat) and lying still sort of did the trick... Felt a few muffled movements all at the front. I know I've got an anterior placenta, and that meant I felt movement late, and that strong kicks are either at my bladder or my sides, so I've decided LO must be lying with all it's limbs against placenta... I'm stopping worrying cos I've felt some gentle movements all at the front... I think yesterday I was so busy I wasn't going to pick up on subtle ones! DH doesn't seem to worry about movements or be sympathetic when I do. I guess maybe he doesn't realise the importance of them or understand what they feel like!

My body is coping well with 2 x iron tablets/day. So grateful I have (currently at least) prevented constipation. I forgot my prune juice at breakfast but have had OJ, grape juice and 500ml coke! So I'll wait til later!

My NCT bunch are fab. The classes are ace, we are learning so much stuff too! Last night was early labour positions, massage techniques for DHs to do in early labour on our backs and baby sleep patterns/best conditions etc.

Congratulations Isean!!!! How romantic and lovely and n'awwww!

Hope you're feeling better soon too xx

Clearly, I also have an anterior placenta and don't feel huge amounts of movement, not unusual to go for hours without noticing anything (might just be busy as I seem to have to concentrate to feel things and I forget) but as long as I get something every day I don't worry as this is our normal pattern. Hopefully I end up with a baby that sleeps well? Please?

AliOh · 19/02/2014 10:45

Congratulations Isean!! Lovely news! :)
