Hello! Marking my place!

Can't believe you've got to page 3 of new thread without me noticing!

27 weeks now, feels quite far until I think that's three whole months to go and that feels like ages!

In case you are packing hospital bags and haven't seen my thread in pregnancy - you need to take at least 20 nappies!! Shock

Good to be prepared!

NannyPlumForPM · 17/02/2014 23:41

I had a sneaky look at your thread moobaloo
But seriously these places are hospitals- I didn't pack any nappies and they provided them until I had chance!

Our hospital doesn't provide formula which is fine, I great believer your choosing your option to feed u provide

Haha @ 20 nappies! I always go on the premise that I'm only going to be in for 1 day, which is 10 nappies. If you have to stay longer you can just get OH to bring more in.

I try and streamline the hospital bag, there's nothing worse than being surrounded by too much crap that manages to spread itself over the whole of the ward cubicles and takes forever to pack up when you leave.

Really need to get hospital bag sorted, 30 weeks today...eek! In other news, my innie belly button is slowly transforming itself into an outie...I sometimes wonder if I'll just pop one day ;)

Mine too minions. I'm a bit worried it'll be really obvious through my stretchy maternity tops!

I saw your thread too minions and am a bit Shock at 20 nappies. How big is this hospital bag going to need to be?! I think I'm going to do what I've seen others suggested - keep a bag in the car with extra supplies in case of staying in longer (or underestimating need!) and take two bags in - one for labour stuff for me and one for baby (I'm hoping this will be the change bag if it's big enough but that may not be realistic). I am nowhere close to actually packing said bags though. Think I might do an inital toiletry shop soon just in case (especially as it sounds like having breast pads to hand may be a good idea!).

Sorry, that was meant to be aimed at moobaloo re the hospital bag thread.

Arghhhhhhh! I wake up on my back all the time. 4 times last night. I don't know what to do or whether to chill out about it. I feel like nature will let me know if it's a problem. I don't have a big heavy bump, I'm not out of breath when I wake up, I just roll over.

dobedobedo · 18/02/2014 08:23

20 nappies?! Wow. Might just keep a whole pack in the boot of the car so dh can run out to the car park if we run out!

sure you'll be fine rebecca from what I gather we're likely to feel dizzy and nauseous before any harm comes to bean - so you're likely to wake yourself up first (as it sounds like you're doing!)

If the disruptions to sleep are getting to bad maybe use some extra pillows to prop yourself up on your side?? I've currently got one either side of me (one for bump and one for back) then one that goes between my legs

(with all that fortification around me is it any wonder that our sex life has disappeared Hmm)

I do still seem to toss and turn alot at night so no guarantees that these actually work!!!

Morning all,

I'm still packing my hospital bag too, haven't got very far though! What is everyone using as a hospital bag? I'm thinking of using a small wheely case (will that look ridiculous, like I'm coming to stay for about a month?!) Also have you all decided what you're wearing during labour & birth? I hear button down nighties are the way forward?? I'm thinking we will probably get really hot though!

Report
MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 18/02/2014 08:56

I've got a longline Primark vest to give birth in and a couple of nighties for afterwards, as well as some loose-fitting PJ bottoms :)

I've got a kind of 'weekend bag' for me, probably going to get another one for baby's stuff.

Another night of virtually no sleep & throwing up most of the night Confused The lack of sleep isn't bothering me as I've only been getting about 5 hours at most throughout the pregnancy anyway, but I can't cope with the vomiting & nausea all over again.

Visiting my parents for the day, arrived last night, 2 and a bit hours away from home (well add in the stops to be sick!) & I'm having a panic that I left my mat notes at home & haven't packed a hospital bag! I'm sure all will be fine....!

I think I'm going to use the nappy/pram bag for the baby's stuff, and a little suitcase or hold all for my stuff and the nappies. I got a "labour wrap" from jojo maman for the birth. It's knee length and low cut so plenty of room for skin to skin and can pull it down easily for breastfeeding. It also opens up at the back, like a hospital gown, so midwives can get some easy access to check how things are going.
I've been wearing it to bed already - dh reckons it's well sexy! Probably due to the low cut nature of it! Grin
I'm going to have to stop wearing my maternity pjs etc so I can have them packed ready in my bag.

I was thinking primark as well moomin. Can't believe we are getting to the stage of packing our hospital bags!! It's going so quickly now!

We've decided our baby will have the vit K injection, bornin.

Rebecca I think I'm doing the same thing with sleeping - I've finally got used to not sleeping on my stomach but keep waking up on my back. Am trying to prop myself up with pillows a bit as I read that being on your back is ok if you're not totally flat.

That said, yesterday morning I went to the dentist, I was only in the chair 5 mins but you know how you're on quite a slope and your legs can be quite high? Well when I sat up I came over really really dizzy and faint. Thought I was going to pass out - felt hot and sweaty and really awful for a few mins. Luckily the dentist was lovely and after a few mins I felt ok. Probably didn't help that I hadn't had breakfast.

I'm at the hospital now doing gtt test. It wasn't as much Lucozade as i feared! Just heard baby's heartbeat and everything is fine. LO is still feet down though - when are they likely to turn?!

spirael the info yesterday about clothes and layers was really helpful Thankyou!

bornin I have given vit k to both dds and will do so with this one too.

I will also have the injection that helps deliver the placenta too as Im 99% sure I did when I had dds.

My hospital has a pay and display car park so I have put a load of loose change in my hospital bag for the car park and for vending machines at hospital.

Screw 20 nappies! Im the same as xav I go on the fact that im going to be there over night at a maximum!

Still no boob leakage here, but with the ladies on the watery discharge although not a huge amount. Its great for sex though OH thinks he's really got me going! Our sex life has taken a complete 180, its amazing and absolutely filthy Blush

I love jojomaman. Their stuff is such good quality, washes well, doesn't lose shape and it's not crazy expensive either. I already have some maternity pj bottoms from there too, but I love them so much, I'm going to order another pair. They're drawstring as well so after the baby is born I can still wear them - they look like joggers. I'll probably use them for the gym when I can exercise again!
I'm so excited to buy some breastfeeding tops for my "hospital bag" next pay day. (dh doesn't have to know they're non essential!)

Sex life wise, I seem to be going through a horny stage of pregnancy. Dh is in his element! We never had sex this much before I got pregnant. The only annoying thing though, it often sets of some braxton hicks. And sometimes I'll suddenly be afraid that dh will end up breaking my waters or something! Blush silly I know. Also the pgp makes things rather awkward and restricted, but still. I guess this is because after the baby comes I won't allow him within ten feet of me! Grin

The hospitals in Finland have a nice system. I just need to bring a few not-so-necessaries like breast pads, phone charger, lip balm, chocolate. Everything else is provided. Will have going home clothes ready in a bag for baby and me and DH will bring that in on the last day. They have maternity pads, humongous knickers, all the baby clothes and nappies, etc available there.

Dobe Breastfeeding tops are the bee knees. I got some Boob ones and lived in them. They wash really well too.

I'll let them give the Vit K injection too. Will probably go with the placenta injection. The afterbirth took nearly an hour to come out on DD1 and with DD2 the mw's injected me with it before I realised what was happening. But all went well with no side effects so I won't freak if they want to give it to me again.

Brax hicks have become painful the past few days. Guess the body is gearing up to D Day!
