Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
isitme1 · 26/01/2014 08:56

On Wednesday.
I think im scared for 3 reasons
1 theu say nothing is there
2 they say its twins (meana placenta site will be bigger and I will hemorrhage again :( )
3 they say a clot of last time is still there.i pushed the gp to send me for a scan after I had ds but he wouldn't. I shit myself every time I had a period thinking I would hemorrhage or lose massive clots (after ds2 I lost a clotas big as my palm)

Stupid stupid stupid thinking I know. Im still raw mentally from the last time.

Im sure the dr will be able to put me at ease . Mum will be coming with me as dh can give emotional support but mum can talk to them too as she was also there.

Fuck. Its getting to me.

ThisIsMeNow · 26/01/2014 09:03

Of course it's getting to you, I'd be more worried if you were not bothered! It's normal to be worried, sounds like last time has left a lot of doubt for you? Can you talk to your midwife about things? Did you ever have a debrief over your birth?

isitme1 · 26/01/2014 09:46

Nope no debrief. Just wells me up talking about it.
Dh had a hard timw bonding with ds due to what happened. I had a bad time 1st time round too but dh was out of country. So he never really knew rhe full extent.

To top it all off ds has blood coming out of his tube again! Will have to run him up to the children's hospital.

Thank you thisisme feels nice to just get it off my chest a bit.
X

PossumBottom · 26/01/2014 09:46

Just checking in will read the many pages I've missed in a bit!

Woken up and feel like shit today with nausea (just 7 weeks). Can't bring myself to get out of bed. DH brought me in toast which was a saviour!

The permenant indigestion is hard work, I'm taking Gaviscon after every meal! At least I've not actually been
sick yet, but I feel it's just a matter of time.

Sorry for the moan, needed to get it out!

KatharineClover · 26/01/2014 10:02

Isitme1 that sounds so scary for you. The debrief really helped me after my post partum haemorrhage, I used to cry every time I thought/talked about it, but the debrief really helped with the rawness of the feelings and put a lot of things into perspective for me, just by having it medically explained. Another pph is a worry for me (and something I will be talking about with mw on Thursday), but the head of midwives said at my debrief that they would have a plan and be prepared for things not to get in the same situation (I was unconscious from blood loss, had 2 transfusions etc). I'm also scared of twins too (I'm 35, my mum had lots of twin pregnancies, lots of m/cs, I just know I will be afraid the whole time because of her history), but pretty sure I won't be offered an early scan, so guess I'll have to wait til end of Feb/beginning if March to find out.
I hope all goes well for your scan on Wednesday, it's good you have lots of support to go with you too, I'll be thinking of you x

broodylicious · 26/01/2014 10:11

Hey all. Was mega mega scary last night with that pain, it was hurting so much. I was convinced it was ectopic and I'd end up at hospital. Luckily, it subsided about 10ish into a little pain in the groin but soon disappeared when I got into bed.
Thanks so much for everyone's wishes and comments, means a lot when no one else knows x

BexBoo12 · 26/01/2014 10:12

Good morning all!! Grin

Isitme...sounds like you're going through a pretty horrendous time, I really hope doc ours your mind at ease. Here if you need a bit of hand holding Envyxx

Sazzle!!! Yay!! Welcome to the mad house!! How are you doing? Xx

kicksandgiggles · 26/01/2014 10:19

This thread moves fast! Welcome to all the newbies, and sorry to those who are having pains/spotting/otherwise feeling worried.

I am still trying to get used to the idea of twins, and am a bundle of nerves about this pregnancy (after my chemical pregnancy before this conception, now not helped by the fact that I now know this is a high-risk pregnancy). After last week's spotting, I am terrified that I'll see blood every time I go to the loo (and had some extremely light pink/brown spotting from the middle of the night to this morning). I'm also worrying about Vanishing Twin Syndrome. It's not that common, and I have a fairly good chance as there were two strong heartbeats and they were measuring close to my dates (6+3 according to the measurement, 6+6 by my dates), but I am terrified that I'll turn up for the next scan and there will only be one baby there.

Really ready for the second trimester, when I can feel a bit more confident, and hopefully stop feeling so tired and nauseous.

isitme1 · 26/01/2014 10:26

Katherine I was in the same boat (2 transfusions, in amd out of consciousness in hospital 2weeks etc)
As horrible as it is to say I'm glaf theres some one I can relate to.

Thank you all for the hand holding
x

whiteblossom · 26/01/2014 10:49

WAFFLES Please please tell me when the MS will ease/go. Ive not left the house in weeks and the last 12 hours have been unbearable, its actually ramped up.

When does MS peak? mine start at 5+4 and im 8 weeks today. ive had Enough whhaaaaaa

I cant move, I cant stand being up right I cant take anymoreeeeeee. Sad

morning everyone, im off to sob into a pillow sorry will catch up later x

ThisIsMeNow · 26/01/2014 10:58

Whiteblossom, I've read between 12-16 weeks it eases off but for some it can last longer, sorry.
Maybe you should see your gp? You shouldn't be housebound by it.

waffles1990 · 26/01/2014 12:03

whiteblossom ahh I feel your pain, Iv only been up a couple of hours and thrown up twice so far today. Wonderful isn't it!!

Morning sickness usually peaks around 8 weeks (so fingers crossed you're around your peak now! And me! I'm 8 wks)
And it usually tails off between 12-16 wks.

It's bloody horrible!!!!! I'm eating and drinking but not loads and feel rubbish all the time. Are you managing food and drink?

isitme aww sorry to hear you're worried. Make sure you tell Dr Whitworth your concerns, hopefully she'll ease them for you. If you've had 2 PPHs in past they'll be watching u like a hawk so things can be nipped in the bud :)

waffles1990 · 26/01/2014 12:26

isitme plus, after the birth they'll have you on IV syntocinon (the drug that makes the uterus contract) to give the uterus chance to recover and under strict orders to stay contracted!

If you've got any technical questions about PPH feel free to ask me and I'll try and clear them up :)

sebsmummy1 · 26/01/2014 12:32

I had to have an IV after the birth to make sure my fibroid didn't bleed out. It behaved itself and all was fine.

sebsmummy1 · 26/01/2014 12:35

God I feel like such a freak, I have no symptoms at all.

I think mine started about 8 weeks last time and was getting waves of nausea but didn't throw up. I wore seabands on both wrists and took ginger supplements from memory. Then it just suddenly disappeared.

Sympathies as I remember just for the time I had the mild nausea it was bloody horrible.

KatharineClover · 26/01/2014 13:18

Someone recommended ginger beer to me - I'd never tried it before but some came in our shopping order this morning and by sipping a little I managed to cook lunch - first proper cooking in ages (DS has been living on fish fingers and other easy freezer fare so sadly he turned up his nose at my lovingly prepared macaroni cheese!)

whiteblossom · 26/01/2014 13:21

thanks thisisme and waffles

Im so glad you said this is the peak, Im starting to feel very down about it all. I feel useless, My dh is running around and my ds I feel is being ignored by me.

I am eating and drinking small amounts but I feel like I have a constant tummy upset, everything sits there making me feel worse so come the evening and my tummy is so uncomfy I just don't know what to do with myself. Im not drinking enough to starve off the uti threatening again.

Should I see my gp or mention to mw on wed?

katharine & isitme I really hope things go smoothly for you this time, it sounds terrifying

waffles1990 · 26/01/2014 14:02

whiteblossom yeah try and get in to see your GP as soon as u can, just so he can give you a checkup on ur blood pressure/ urine to check if ur fluid levels really are too low. He may also offer you some anti sickness tablets.

I got some off my GP (cyclizine) but I didn't rate them tbh, I'm crap at taking tablets they make me retch. Rock and hard place!!!! I want to fast forward a few weeks please!

broodylicious · 26/01/2014 14:21

waffles while you're here, do you mind me asking you the signs of ectopic pregnancies? I'm 7+2 and had the most awful pain last night for about six hours, in one concentrated spot on my left, low down about three fingers width up from my bikini line. It eased off and I've not had it since, no bleeding, but just wondered what you thought? Sorry to be a pain Hmm

isitme1 · 26/01/2014 14:41

Thank you blossom.

Thanks waffles.
I was induced at 40weeks last time due to blood levels being low (had waters broke on labour unit after waiting8hours for bed on induction bay)
I was on the drip then and after I had ds I was fine for around 2mins and then started to 'flood'. From there I was taken to hdu.i remember sweating a lot and I kept on waking up seeing loads of drs around me. Shoving tablets up me. I was put backnon the drip for a while after that. I can still hear what he was saying (dr)

community mw said it was because placenta site was big (due to ds being big 8lb13) and thats why I bled so much?

Also if they put me on the tanzaprin if I cut myself (like when im cutting veg and catch finger like im always bloody doing) someone said I would have to go a+e as Iwwould bleed a lot. Is that true??
X
Flowers thank you

whiteblossom · 26/01/2014 14:57

Thanks waffles i'll do that xx

ThisIsMeNow · 26/01/2014 15:19

Broody- the pain can be intermittent or constant but is normally severe.
Have you had any pain in the tip of your shoulder?
Is the pain one sided near the hip bone?
Does it hurt if you've had a bowel movement?
These are all things I've been told can be 'signs' and I'd be off to the gp or a&e depending on how bad you felt.
Really hope last night was a one off for you.

waffles1990 · 26/01/2014 15:22

Broodylicious Poor you! tbh in my role we don't deal with ectopic pregnancy as it's an EPAU/ 'Gynae' issue (staffed by nurses) so I don't have much experience tbh. I would say ring your local EPAU to get checked out :) let us know what they say.

isitme What u mean by 'blood levels' ? Do u mean iron levels? If so, that's more than likely the cause for the PPH, because anaemia or low platelets can affect the bloods ability to clot properly and uterus to contract etc

Your DS sounds a fairly decent size so that May have contributed to your uterus being a bit "saggy" after! But it wouldn't have been the main reason.

Even though you had the drip, sometimes they reduce it or switch it off too quickly post birth and it can shock the uterus a little bit. So this time they'll make sure it stays on for a good while.

I've never heard of someone needing to go to A&E because of Tinzaparin. Obviously it slows the clotting process as that's it's job, but not to the extent you'd bleed out from a cut finger. They'll explain the dos and donts when they give you the Tinz at hospital :)

They will also put a plan in place for you to stop the Tinz before u go into labour, so it won't affect the PPH side of things.

Hope that helps :)

KatharineClover · 26/01/2014 15:45

isitme1 I do understand - it's reassuring to know you are not alone in an experience. Did you have issues breast feeding too? My milk didn't come in properly, but DS also had a tongue tie.
waffles it's interesting to know about the reasons behind pph. My 28 wk bloods were 10 but I wasn't offered any iron etc (I understand now that they were a little low) so I guess this contributed to my pph? DS was 8lb 11oz and my labour was speedy (3.5 hrs) so I was told these factors were why I bled so much afterwards.
(To the ladies expecting baby #1, pph is unusual - I read only 1 in 24 experience it) xx

Pregnantberry · 26/01/2014 15:51

Possum I am 6+6 and I feel exactly the same as you!

It started early on, before I even knew I was pregnant with me just being off my food and not having much of an appetite, but now I feel constantly nauseous. All I want to do is sit on the couch and drink cups of tea. Sad

I have heard ginger helps, but I feel like the smell would make me gag. I heard vitamin b6 can help, I was thinking of trying that.
