DearDinah · 24/01/2014 19:09

My scan date is 21st feb, not going to bother with an early scan it's not that long to wait really.

Carly6971 · 24/01/2014 19:38

Hi ladies :)

Could I please join? I have been reading for a couple of weeks but very nervous to believe I am actually pregnant after nearly 6 years battling with infertility! A complete shock and the best surprise ever! I am 8 weeks today going by early scan but 10 by cycle dates?!

bugoven · 24/01/2014 19:58

Welcome macca and carly.

My scan and cycle dates didn't quite add up either. By MW I am 9 weeks tomorrow but I know I'm 8 and by scan I'm 7w4d. Either way, I saw a healthy little heartbeat last week and am happy whenever this little one thinks it is ready =)

Sicky88 · 24/01/2014 20:03

Well went to the doctors this afternoon and due on the 24th Sept, now its beginning to feel a little bit more real. Now just got to work out when to tell our parents. :)

Carly6971 · 24/01/2014 20:36

When you all had your early scans did you all see your babies heart beat? The sonographer said she could see a heart beat but we didn't see it :( I was 5+6 when I had it. Have one booked for 15th February but am really scared babba will have disappeared :( no matter how hard I try I find it so hard to believe this is happening and even harder to believe it will all be ok :( not at all how I imagined pregnancy all these years!

topmammy · 24/01/2014 21:38

I'm super paranoid that I will have my scan and nothing will be there too Carly you are not alone. I've not had an early scan, just going to wait for the 12 week one and try not worry too much!

I'm so irritable tonight and I'm starting to suffer with the dreaded (sorry tmi) constipation! Rrrrrraaaarrrgggh Angry

bugoven · 24/01/2014 21:41

carly I saw the heart beat between 6 and 7 weeks and that makes a lot of difference to 5w when they are so tiny.
All your worries are completely normal, especially when you have waited so long.

So I have been merrily munching awau at Love Hearys and Palma Violets, pleased to have found a tasty treat that also eases sickness. However, have just read that they contain Sodium Bicarbonate which in the list of "medicines to be avoided" in my Tommy'd Having a Healthy Pregnancy book. Should I be worried (directs question at anyone who will help but also resident midwife waffles)

topmammy · 24/01/2014 21:49

Bug I am not a midwife but, I bet you'd have to eat a heck of a lot of sodium bicarbonate for it to be a real problem :) so I wouldn't worry yourself. You'll just have to find another sweetie to munch on now :(

tiredallthetime123 · 24/01/2014 21:57

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know we saw a little heartbeat going boom boom boom boom at scan earlier!!! Thank you so much for all your kind words today ladies you, really helped. I was a basket case by the time I got to the hosp and not helped by the fact that I lost my cash card earlier and DH announced he'd left his at work so we had to do telephone banking in the car on the way there in the rainy Manchester rush hour traffic in order to pay for it which resulted in horrid bickering! I drank LOADS of water so I was desperate for the loo and could hardly walk by 5pm then the blinking sonographer woman was 35 mins late so I was practically cross eyed by the time I was taken in. Sonographer lady was lovely but couldn't see anything cos my bladder was too full so I was sent off to do half a wee (cos that's easy!!) and then went back for more jelly on tummy action but still nothing by which time I was quite teary and DH was wittering away noisily like he does when he's nervous- poor guy. Ended up having wand thing inside me (with a condom on- Urgh- GROSS) and more prodding about- honestly you'd think it was like wembley bloody stadium in there- and then eventually there it was with its little flickering heart!! Hiding "very far back"apparently- she made my reproductive system sound like an industrial storage unit!! Felt dead weird and needed to pee again so just wanted sonographer to hurry up at this point. She confirmed I am 8w+3 and EDD in 2nd September- no twins, no ectopic and all developing well- it has a "good sac" apparently(i'm imagining a baby with a sophisticated French designer handbag on its arm- too much imagination) Baba is 183mm long, looks like an alien lizard crossed with a tadpole and wriggled at us. Have got pics and feel much more 'pregnant' now. Phoned my mother and she wept but she's menopausal and weeps at anything. Have told a few more people- close girly friends etc. Yikes!!! So warn out after a long day of worry so off to bed now but just wanted to say a big thank you to all my MN big sisters for listening to me freak on you this morning! Lotsalove, tired (and alienlizardtadpole thingy hiding inside my cavernous lady parts with its chic fashion accessory) xxx

Kt1991 · 24/01/2014 22:05

Glad to hear everything is okay tired! Bet you feel relieved now! Have a good night sleep!

broodylicious · 24/01/2014 22:17

tired I am so happy for you Smile and your DH and alien/tadpole cross Wink what a lovely post to read just before I hit the sack. Fantastic news Grin

bugoven · 24/01/2014 22:36

Thanks for the reassurance topmammy and tired, your post really made me giggle. Congratulations on you well accessorized freaky tadpole alien cross thingy. Hooray!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 24/01/2014 22:44

sittingpretty25 · 25/01/2014 09:05

Congrats tired that's amazing!!

I want a scan!! Not even had my date through yet but should end of feb. It's killing me! Plus I'm on paper all tip too so no early scan on the cards Hmm sniff.

waybuloony · 25/01/2014 09:20

Well done tired. Must be such a relief! Have a lovely weekend. X

cavamonster · 25/01/2014 09:27

Congrats tired and hi to all the newbies yesterday.

Just to update on my sickness in case it can help anyone, went to the docs yesterday and was prescribed cyclizine, between that and also sweets called gin gins my Mil got from her local chemist - I feel normal again, still obv got the food aversion thing going on but not the feeling I'm on a very choppy boat crossing! I definitely recommendSmile

LH1981 · 25/01/2014 09:55

Congrats tired! So pleased for you!

Nausea back with a vengeance (probably not helped by the enormous amount of food I consumed last night with my girlfriends) - couldn't sleep at all last night, and had to get up at the crack of dawn for the electrician to come back and try to fix these damn light shortages. Anyway, for anyone who remembers my lighting saga, the problem is now, finally, fixed!! Out of 6 visits, it finally tripped while he was here so he could locate the problem (I was starting to worry he would think I was making it up just to see him) Blush

waffles, my appt is 4th Feb too, but I don't think I'm due until late Sept. I'm not sure what kind of appt it is - silly me, forgot to ask), but prob just a booking in appt. Can't imagine they'd scan me again so early.

topmammy · 25/01/2014 10:13

That's great news tired, just in time for the weekend too!

Got my booking appt this afternoon. Eeek I'm excited/ nervous! I hope I haven't put on any lbs since Xmas as I'm always on the edge between normal bmi and the next category up!

Firstimemum3 · 25/01/2014 11:42

That's brilliant :) tiredallthetime lovely reading some happy news. Made me smile!!!

Had doctors two weeks and a bit ago and they said midwife would ring me, but they still haven't. That normal? My EDD is 14th sept.

BexBoo12 · 25/01/2014 11:56

Great news tired!! Fabulous xx

Topmammy, I'm in the overweight category, bmi is 32.1 Hmm gutted lol x

First time, I had my mw app almost 2 weeks after going the docs, however I was rushed through because there is still some uncertainty over dates - I could potentially be 13 weeks (although I sont think I am) so they wanted tk get me a scan etc ASAP - which is on Wednesday. But doctor said normally it would take a few weeks - usually when you're about 9 weeks. How many weeks are you? X

CumbrianExile · 25/01/2014 12:59

First time - The midwife rang me the day after the doctor appt. But I had to wait 2 weeks for the first appointment, which turned out to be just an introduction meeting. Have my booking in appt this Fri. I will be about 9 weeks as Bex said.

BexBoo12 · 25/01/2014 14:21
