Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WishUponAStar88 · 24/01/2014 15:39

Really hope everything's ok missbrightside. Hopefully the scan will be able to put your mind at rest :)

xxmissbrightsidexx · 24/01/2014 15:44

Thankyou wish, I'm really scared right now. We weren't going to tell family yet [only my sister and OH sister knows] but I'm thinking we might need to tell our parents at least, don't know though :(
Will anything be seen at the scan? That's one of the things I'm dreading :(

bugoven · 24/01/2014 16:06

brightside I'm sorry you'be had a bad day and you have to wait til Tuesday for some reassurance. How is your pain now?

Still looking out for the October AN thread. Have done the Maths and some of them should be 4w - 4w+2 by now. They are certainly more patient than I was! Migjt go over to conception and give them a poke. I want to feel like a BFP veteran!!

sebsmummy1 · 24/01/2014 16:20

I am O negative and my son was B positive. It wS absolutely fine although the injection post birth fucking hurt, big bastard needle.

Never had someone tell me a home birth wasn't possible because of it, so not sure who told you that.

sebsmummy1 · 24/01/2014 16:21

Xxmissbrightsidexx what's happening?

broodylicious · 24/01/2014 16:23

Absolutely bug! Haha! I tell myself labour didn't hurt as I'd been working on my fat baby making hips for years Wink

cookielove · 24/01/2014 16:23

missbright hand holding, hair stroking it will be ok!!!

I am b+ i like it, its like my blood is making a statement Grin

cookielove · 24/01/2014 16:26

missbright i just read that back and thought it sounded a bit patronising which i didn't mean it to be, just that sometimes we all need a hand to hold and having my hair stroked is always a comfort to me, and was virtually offering it to you.

bugoven · 24/01/2014 16:30

Like it cookie Grin

Just shamelessly hurried bfp thread along and feel like a cold caller selling the merits of ante-natal club threads for my own selfish means. I'm a bad person. To be fair my naughty Baby Elvis has put me in bed for 2 days so I was bound to get up to mischief at some point!

waffles1990 · 24/01/2014 16:55

I'm Rh Neg too, so I'm going to be delivered karma in the form of being stabbed with the big needle, as I have stabbed hundreds of women with Anti D at work!! so payback for me.

It doesn't affect your ability to have a homebirth whatsoever, they'd just have to take baby's cord blood to be tested and if baby is positive and you require the postnatal injection, the mw would collect it from the hospital.

Nausea is being kinder than usual today and I managed dinner out with OH!! feel a bit wiped out now though.

My list of miracle foods I posted the other day are all working pretty well tbh, but there are still some moments where I just can't face the thought of ANYTHING!! Being really fussy with my drinks, I want flavour but something that doesnt leave a taste in my mouth - impossible to find!

My appt for hospital came through today - 4th Feb :) scan won't be at least until around 20th though boooo

Macca18 · 24/01/2014 17:07

Hello, I am new here. How do I join this group? This is my first pregnancy, due 25th September. Very excited and scared! No idea what to expect!

CumbrianExile · 24/01/2014 17:35

Another RH - person here too. I read up on the injections and got quite scared! Not to keen on big needles so I will just have to close my eyes and pretend it isnt happening.

Not sure if it was on here that somebody mentioned strawberry juice in a previous pregnancy. Since then I have become addicted to strawberry ribena, sure its not the same, but I cant seem to get enough of it. Grin

Welcome and congrats Macca. Just join in. The thread moves pretty fast sometimes, but everyone is really helpful.

Macca18 · 24/01/2014 17:39

Thanks Cumbrian. I'm sure there is a lot I can learn from everyone here.
I don't have any symptoms yet, other than sore boobs. Luckily my mum didn't have any symptoms with any of her pregnancies. Maybe I'll be lucky?!!

broodylicious · 24/01/2014 17:43

cumbrian if they do it in your thigh/butt, you won't be able to see anyway (I also do not like looking at needles so I was grateful of that!) don't be scared, it's another preggo wonder Smile

Ellisisland · 24/01/2014 17:47

No sickness today just stabbing pains in my crotch and abdomen. That normal?
Think I am more worried about pains etc this time round as before I just took it easy when pregnant but now I'm lifting 2 stone DS several times a day so am more worried Hmm god pregnancy is stressful! I asked my mum if she worried this much and she said they didn't know as much then so not as much to worry about!

CumbrianExile · 24/01/2014 17:57

Good point Broody Grin

broodylicious · 24/01/2014 18:02

ellis I think I'm worried far more this time round about pains and stuff. I also have a toddler to look after who had become incredibly clingy and wanting cuddles far more since I've become pregnant again. I'm very wary of picking her up a lot but as someone very wise said on here a few days ago, if bean isn't strong enough to hold on during the normal rigours of life, it's not meant to be. Plus, I don't ever want to put my dd's needs behind the bean's so if she needs a pick up, I'll do it.

BexBoo12 · 24/01/2014 18:22

Macca - you did just join hun - that's it, you're in! Congratulations by the way, how are you feeling xx

Cindy5389 · 24/01/2014 18:22

Started to get slightly p

BexBoo12 · 24/01/2014 18:23

Aww waffles that's crap for scan date - in your line of work can't you sneak a quick one out of hours? Scan that is Wink

BexBoo12 · 24/01/2014 18:25

Does anyone mind answering something for me - what difference does it make if you're rhesus +/-? I've read here some talking about a needle, is that if you're + or -? And what else too? Thanks x

Ellisisland · 24/01/2014 18:26

Broody - thank you that has made me feel a lot better Smile

Cindy5389 · 24/01/2014 18:26

Sorry phone just uploaded message without me finishing.. Started to get slightly pink discharge this afternoon. Trying not to panick, but freaking out! Am 6w1d today.. Hopefully it's going to b ok.. finally got a moving date today. Next Fri 31st Jan! I am def not doing any lifting. Dh will have to do it all with help from family members (We r not using removals).

waffles1990 · 24/01/2014 18:44

Bexboo Google "Rhesus disease" and go on NHS choices, explains blood types etc there

I wish I could sneak an early scan but the sonographers are always mega busy where I work, plus they're down the corridor so it's not as easy as it sounds. Wish I could!

sebsmummy1 · 24/01/2014 19:04

Bexboo it's to do with preventing your body from developing antibodies to the baby which may not cause a problem with your first pregnancy but could impact subsequent pregnancies.

This is only the case if your baby is rhesus positive which is why they test the cord. I think if the baby has the same blood group as you you don't have to have the second injection.
