Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

ismarah that is fantastic news - what a massive massive relief! Smile

Is anyone else finding they're getting out of breath really easily? I normally speak at a bit of a clip and I'm sometimes finding I can't catch my breathe when I'm talking. Just delivered a short presentation at work and it was an absolute car-crash as I got totally breathless whilst I was speaking. I'm normally completely confident presenting and this was horrid, I had to stop repeatedly to gulp air, just made me sound like I was really nervous. Ugh!

fifi669 · 21/02/2014 14:52

Excellent news ismarah!

I'm also out of breath all the time plateofcrumbs, i have a fair few stairs to climb to get into the office, I end up wheezing like an old man when I come through the door.

20 week scan and everything looks normal, measuring a smidge over dates but they'll keep the EDD.... and.... it's a boy My house is going to be overrun with penis now between him, DS and DP. already plotting daughter to follow unborn boy

justhayley · 21/02/2014 15:04

Great news ismarah Grin you must be relieved.

Plate iv been getting out of when walking - even slowly. I live at the top of a hill and walking up it pushing DS in the buggy nearly killed me the other day.

Got the results back from my quad test today - low risk yay Grin was a bit a lot worried after sonographer not being able to get nucheal measurements at 12 weeks. 2 more weeks till 20 week scan - feels like FOREVER!

ZingSweetMango · 21/02/2014 16:17

plate and everyone

getting out of breath - you could be anaemic!
I was with all of them and I think I'm now too, just started taking iron tablets today.

going up the stairs takes my breath away so much I can't talk.

I'm taking Solgar Gentle Iron and highly recommend it.
only 20mg iron/tablet (as opposed to crazy amount in GP prescribed one that made me very ill very quickly when pg with DS5)

Floradix has a vitamin mix liquid with Iron - it tastes lovely, better if you struggle swallowing pills.

fifi669 · 21/02/2014 16:25

Are the out of breathers of limited stature? Being a shorty, our organs get squished by babies quicker so lose our puff quicker too....

Plateofcrumbs · 21/02/2014 16:59

fifi no I'm extremely well compensated on the stature front, so that's not my excuse. Still cringing at the horrendous presentation. I felt like shouting "I'm pregnant, I can't help it!!" and running out and crying.

(and LOL at "overrun with penis" Grin - congratulations!!)

kim222 · 21/02/2014 19:49

Haven't been n for ages, hope your all well!!

Just after some advice, is any one feeling consistent movement? I was a few weeks ago, everyday and for past 10 days now nothing, I'm 18+2, second baby. I've panicking myself so much ive booked a quick assure scan at baby bond tomorrow. Think I'm just winding myself up as I've been ill for a few weeks with a cold and not getting better, very limited sleep, my dd is having her cleft palate repair next week and has been poorly plus with hormones think everything is just getting to me. Massive fingers crossed for tomorrow but just wondering what movement others were feeling? Xx

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 21/02/2014 19:54

Great news on the results Ismarah and justhayley.

I can't believe some of you are so organised to be thinking about hospital bags already. I took a massive suitcase with DS! I needed that to bring all the things I was told to bring. But I did have the benefit of a private room with wardrobe.

I've got my 22 week scan on Monday and then midwife later in the week.

Looking forward to the weekend! I hope DS manages to stay asleep later than 7am.

ZingSweetMango · 21/02/2014 20:33

kim

baby possibly moved around and now kicking towards your spine - you will not feel that.

Hopefully that's it and it's very very likely.
but it's good you getting checked out, I'm pretty sure you'll be ok! Smile

ZingSweetMango · 21/02/2014 20:35

and my baby's kicks are getting stronger.
a few in a row on the right side, pause, then another few on the left side.

must be very long or doing the splits?Grin

AuntieMaggie · 21/02/2014 20:39

Oh so pleased the news was good ismarah :)

Theres a lots of boys on this thread... is that a sign?

liquidstate · 21/02/2014 20:40

Well have just spent 2 days crawling around a roofspace taking measurements. Definitely the last time I do that Grin part of my job. I ache! So glass of wine for me tonight.

I am also breathless but only after climbing stairs so prob just unfit. I have my consultants appointment next week followed by SPD Physio.

congrats to all those with good scans! Sorry to those with poor pictures. If it helps our acrobat was doing some weird moves during the scan and so our pic is a little odd with arms and legs in weird positions Hmm. Dh convinced its a boy because the legs look quite long and is telling everyone this despite the fact we didn't want to know (because we don't care, or at least I don't). Am trying to calm him down in case we have a leggy supermodel in the making Grin.

Haven't thought about buying a new bag for hospital. I was just going to use a couple of holdalls, one for baby and once for me.

ZingSweetMango · 22/02/2014 00:43

I'm so uncomfortable.

it feels like I'm suddenly 7 months pg.
feel huge, can't get comfortable enough to sleep, feel sick if I lie on my side but if I'm half sitting up my bottom starts hurting.
aarrrggghhhh!
This is not supposed to happen until much, much later!

not impressed

lemonpoppyseed · 22/02/2014 01:48

Oh, you are all so organized with your bags. With DS I packed it while in labour, as I was convinced he was going to be late (he came day after due date). I now realize I was in denial Smile. I resolve to be more organized this time round!

MrsA2 · 22/02/2014 08:39

Really pleased it's good news Ismarah and lots more lovely scans too! fantastic.

Kim I'm sure all is going to be fine but don't blame you for checking! hope to hear your good news soon.

Ok, I've looked for the first time at travel systems this morning and one hour in I'm none the wiser! Want a car seat included that clips straight on, parent facing but ideally the option to face away too, manoeuvrability is really important for us. Ideally max £400 - wishful thinking?

Where's good to go and compare liars of different brands? Mothercare and JS don't seem to stock that many options?

mummytobejuly2014 · 22/02/2014 08:50

mrsa2 we've started paying off a silver cross wayfayer at £425 & got the maxi cosi pebble for £85 off boots cos of the parent club voucher & £11 of points. I was thinking it looks like a lot of boys here too. im convinced we're having one, find out on wed hopefully. zingsweetmango im the same, I look mad half the shapes I pull on the sofa/bed trying to get comfy, back butt & hips are in agony, I keep waking up with numb but hot/painful hips if I sleep on my side, sleeping on my back is only comfy if I pull my heels up to my butt with knees in the air, I also feel like a whale shuffling to change positions. my bump seems huge for 20wks +3.

liquidstate · 22/02/2014 09:50

MrsA We went to Mothercare and had a very good assistant talk us through the systems. We were going to buy the silver cross wayfarer(we were passing Mothercare and only went in to take another look at it before buying online). We ended up buying a Britax Affinity which is compatible with the Britax car seats without having an extra fixing. I think it cost about £440 including the cot, colour pack and car seat. We were also impressed with the Oyster travel system which also fits the Britax car seats without a fitting and about the same price. But the Affinity was much more compact folded and lighter (and on offer).

I think you need to go to a larger Mothercare type store. We went to a giant John Lewis and they only had about 7 prams on display. So hard to choose when you can't see them all in real life in the same place. The Mothercare we went to had about 20 on display so it was less confusing.

ZingSweetMango · 22/02/2014 10:13

I'm just going to whine.
I'm lying on the sofa and still find it hard to breathe.it's like someone is sitting on my chest.
I feel really sorry for myself.Sad

[wah wah wah]

ismarah · 22/02/2014 10:38

I'm 5'3" and am so far not out of breath, although I'm noticeably slower walking now. Bean also doesn't seem to like walks and braces itself somewhere painful. I am however finding myself wanting smaller meals. If in the past I'd had a sandwich and a bag of crisps and a piece of fruit for one meal, I'm now more likely to have the sandwich with the other pieces later when I get peckish. As I get peckish whether or not I've forced down a large meal, this seems like a not-bad thing. I tried on pre pregnancy jeans (admittedly my fat jeans) the other day and they were fine. Did up and everything. Bit smushy on bean which is why I took them off but quite chuffed by that experiment.

In my excitement yesterday I didn't say anything about tge rest of the drs visit. All bloods and urine are normal, despite an abdominal pain whenever I wee. Heard bean. BP perfect despite stress. Asked for a C section and was given a leaflet about possible side effects, to which I responded 'that's great, when can we discuss those exact things with regards to VBs' and thereby stumped the doctor. She (!) wasn't very agreeable on that front, but did note it down and said we could discuss it further at 28 weeks. She was oddly more supportive when I said my husband supported this decision than when I said I'd done my research in general, mentioned friends with crash CS's and vaginal prolapses, as well as my own health concerns with vaginal birth. Husband trumped health. Weird.

Lots of boys. We'll see hopefully Monday although I don't know if our clinic lets you know, I've just assumed they did. If they don't tell you or we can't see it, we might plump for another scan privately to find out.

Re finding pushchairs to view - have a look at the brand website for stockists. If those stockists have websites, see if they list online what other brands they do - they'll probably have a bunch in stock. You don't have to buy anything but some of the smaller specialist shops have really surprised me. The one we went to probably had about 20-30 pushchairs and travel systems and same again for car seats. They had less furniture and oddly less changing bags but lots of clothes, blankets and bits and bobs. Would have been quite happy to shop there (in a supporting indies kind of way) if it wasn't for her attitude about the pushchair I wanted (Oh, this one is cheaper. Yes, but it's worse. Yes, but it's cheaper. Sigh.), the dog she left in her car, and the general attitude about us being there to browse. Yes, browsers are annoying but you never know if you don't try to sell to us..IYKWIM

Plateofcrumbs · 22/02/2014 12:20

Had a bit of a "mossy moment" at yoga - actually feeling in the pregnancy zone for once. Got all teary during the relaxation 'connect with baby' bit. Blush

Did an exercise where we were holding a squat position until our quads were burning and using breathing to zone out from the pain, then having a little break then doing it again, then again. Can't see where they were going with that Wink.

BlueC2 · 22/02/2014 12:47

On the pushchair front we went for a Mamas and Papas Zoom which we love-it's compatible with Maxi Cosi or Cybex seats with a v v easy adapter that you just slot in and can be forward or parent facing. The basket size great too for shopping changing bag etc. We got it for £300ish in 2012 (inc chassis main seat and carrycot) but think you can still get it close to that. Plus car seat approx £85. For viewing lots of types (except M+P and Mothercare ownn brands) try Kiddicare store if you have one nearby-they have SO many styles on show. For those in Berks/Bucks there's a kiddicare and large Mothercare on the Lombardy retail park in Hayes just off A312 near Heathrow and worth the trip.

So we've been up in the night with DS being sick twice and now had diarrhoea this morning-the joys! Still has his appetite though so not sure what's caused it but rather changed our weekend plans.

ismarah so glad results good!
Kim hope all is well at the scan
zing and liquid sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable

ismarah · 22/02/2014 15:30

Zing weird question regarding your discomfort - how are your shoulders? If you pull the trapezius muscle that can actually lead to breathlessness and pain getting comfortable and pulling it is really easy to do.

Warm bath to relax the muscles, a massage and some paracetamol might help in that case. Also trying to sleep a bit more on your back-ish, with a pillow propping up the bad side, or a bit more upright, propping up your knees if needed.

I'm reaching a bit here but whatever the cause, those remedies won't hurt either way.

icklekid · 22/02/2014 15:38

ismarah still so delighted for your results all being good :)

blue if we don't find a 2nd hand uppababy vista I think a zoom is what we shall go with- ticks all the boxes and good value...

I have officially given in today and bought a paddington bear body for baby :) so cute!!! Grin

ZingSweetMango · 22/02/2014 16:13

ismarah

so sweet, thanks - but today I'll be doing the "I can't be helped, feel sorry for me, it's hopeless" whingeingGrin

I already sleep on the sofa, so half-sitting (or on my side)

warm bath - I feel sick afterwardsSad

my back and shoulders ache as standard - really need to see osteopath, maybe I can on Wednesday.

I'm pretty sure it's only anaemia.
tablets take a few days to kick in.

just feeling crap - waiting is not my strength, all this waiting for things to happen and uncertainty about outcomes (moving, DS2's tonsillectomy op date, will DS5 get in our chosen school? etc) are just wearing me out.
so stressful

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 22/02/2014 16:42

IsMarah: good for you on the pushing for the cs, however, I agree that the husband vs research but was weird. What a strange reaction! Keep on top of them, here's hoping that you get a date in the diary for the op at 28 weeks!

Plate: very good to hear about your mossy moment, and in awe of your hardcore Pilates! I'm struggling to get through the ten minute ones (and have had to evict the dcats during sessions who think it's marvellous fun when I lie down and they can walk all over me).
