Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

Well I survived soft play :) and typically the weather is beautiful now! The two boys had lots of fun though and thankfully we got there early before the hoards of over excited screaming kids arrived so DS could suss out things he would like to play with before he was pushing waiting patiently for a go! He also wore himself out so enjoying a long nap so I have been able to sit quietly and rest!

We don't have any really good scan photos either-the sonographer gave us our 12wk one for free it's so awful! Our baby just likes to sleep and hide!

coco808 · 20/02/2014 17:13

I had my 20 week scan today Smile all well with the lazy baby. And its a..BOY !!!!!!

Oh MrsC, that must be so upsetting for you! Just think you may end up with an amazing picture at your next scan in a few weeks. I didn't get any nice pictures because of the position.

ZingSweetApple · 20/02/2014 17:29

ah, hurrah for cocoBoy!Thanks

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 20/02/2014 18:54

Coco Welcome to the boy club :) Congratulations on your healthy scan.

MrsCs if it makes you feel any better I would actually rather see less of our baby in our scan pic - he's mainly teeth and creepy eye sockets!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 20/02/2014 18:56

PS Blue my bump has just become enormous over the last couple of weeks! I now look really quite heavily pregnant (I was a size 16 before so I'm assuming it's just pushing all of my podgy out in front of the babY!). Quite a nice feeling though, I feel like less of a fraud on the train.

Nancyincali I started the pilates 10 min solutions thing today and was shocked at how unfit I am!

museumworker · 20/02/2014 18:56

Hello all, just had quick scan of thread. Just wanted to say would heartily recommend the Maggie Howell birth preparation cd, it's a tenner. I thought hypnobirthing would be too mossy for me, and having since listened to a friend's CDs from her class I think it wouldn't have suited me. The Howell cd is more relaxation and visualization, I listened to it a few times a week from 33 weeks but think it's meant from about 28. I also used it on way to hospital when i'n labour and generally when couldn't sleep. And a British voice, not American! I ended up buying her non-pregnancy relaxation one as I liked it so much.

museumworker · 20/02/2014 18:58

Ps plates fingers crossed for your results and congrats zing on sale and more money!

MrsB2013 · 20/02/2014 21:21

Coco glad scan went well and yay for a boy!

Museum My friend has just ordered that CD, I might have a listen to it then order my own if its good

NancyinCali · 21/02/2014 03:42

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs well done :) I haven't actually done one since I posted about it… but I have done weekly yoga and a couple of online yoga classes too so I don't feel too terrible. I really should do the pilates though as my back is playing up.

Coco oh a boy! So lovely :).

I'll have to try the Maggie Howell CD. The Marie Mongan one has some pretty irritating moments in it so maybe I'll like that one better.

icklekid · 21/02/2014 05:39

mrsb I've got a weekend bag that is probably about the size of the third one but I like to over pack! I'm sure that either of the first two would be fine, maybe think about which size you would use more often in the future?

jaykay987 · 21/02/2014 05:50

mrsb those bags are lovely - what a bargain.

I think I'll go with a cabin sized wheelie. I read some advice that said something like....imagine delicately leaving the hospital feeling a little battered and bruised. You and DH now have to carry all your bags and baby in a car seat from the ward to the car park. Baby is heavy abd difficult to carry in a car seat if you've got a sore middle. So in all likelihood - you might end up with the bag. Make sure the bag has wheels!

That advice made sense to me. When I was in hospital with a bad back - I was only walking at shuffling speed. I only had my handbag and my DH went back to the car and I was to meet him out front. It was the longest walk of my life.....my bag felt like a stone and it took me about 20mins to shuffle round instead of the usual 4! Hospitals can be big places! So I think I'll stick with wheels.

(urgently racking my brain trying to think of a reason why I need to buy one of the first two you posted!)

NancyinCali · 21/02/2014 06:08

We had a regular cabin sized bag for dd1 and I hardly used anything in it Wink. I didn't have to worry about carrying it out of hospital as they made me leave in a wheelchair for no apparent reason. I'd walked further down the corridor to fill my water bottle than the distance from my room to the car.

ZingSweetApple · 21/02/2014 06:17

my usual "attire" is"

  • a cabin bag for baby's stuff
  • a sportsbag for my things plus my dressing gown
  • a tesco bag for drinks and snacks for DH during the labour (and me afterwards)
  • breastfeeding pillow (I prefer C shape one to V shape one)
  • my handbag

we tend to keep the baby seat in the car and as we are about to leave DH takes a most of stuff to the car, brings in the seat then he carries baby and I take my handbag

done & dusted

icklekid · 21/02/2014 06:27

Zing very pleased you said that I was thinking surely there is no reason dh can't do 2 trips to the car and leaving baby car seat in makes a lot of sense and gives me a great excuse not to have to carry anything!

coco808 · 21/02/2014 07:44

MrsB they are all great, but the third one is the best, I think Grin love purple....
do you think I could dress a little boy in purple? Wink

Plateofcrumbs · 21/02/2014 07:58

Ooh those bags are such a bargain am tempted to get one!

fifi669 · 21/02/2014 08:40

Just about to drop DS to nursery then it's in for the scan. Eek!

You can dress a boy in purple or pink or whatever you want! If it ends up being a girl I need to persuade people to lay off the pink. I'm not a pink person.

Mrsc020987 · 21/02/2014 08:56

Thanks all Thanks now I've calmed down I realise I've got a trouble maker on my hands ha! Love those hospital bags! I had mine packed so early last time, I've not even started to empty spare room to decorate for dd to evacuate the nursery so I can spruce it up. Looking for a bit of advice re storage of clothes etc I firstly need to organise all dds tiny clothes into size and then unisex piles, I've been told not to put them in the loft as they will smell and I will not use them, would vacuumed packs in a large tub in the loft solve this or not make any difference? Also same issue with jumperoo and walker etc, all material parts I don't want ruined or smelly and can they go in garage or is it too damp? And can you wash the Moses basket material, and will I need to buy a new mattress? Apologies if I'm being a bit silly, my brain has not been functioning logically for weeks, I lost butter a few days ago, after spending an hour hunting for it, found it in the medicine cupboard!!

MrsB2013 · 21/02/2014 09:12

Thanks for the replies! Zing I'm planning on sending DH to the car with all the bags then come back for me and baby! I was thinking of packing for 3 nights Confused and I don't usually travel light! I've never been to hospital before so I haven't got a clue really Blush I've got a couple of bags and a cabin bag on wheels that I could use, but I like shopping!!!

Casmama · 21/02/2014 09:15

MrsC I have had ds's clothes in the loft for a couple of years and they don't seem to smell. I will of course wash them but smell not an issue.
The guidance is I think to get a new mattress for each child so worth doing I think.

ismarah · 21/02/2014 10:37

Well Blush best results possible today! Saw a consultant and made them go get the echocardiogram results as they were not there.

Mild (mild!) tricuspid regurgitation, all valves normal, left ventricular hypertrophy from last time has resolved itself! No treatment needed, no medication and no surgery! Every single best possible outcome after all my panic. I'm so relieved, I may buy some Winnie the Pooh baby things in Sainsburys. It'll be my first baby buy as we've been waiting for 20w scan which is on Monday. Heard bean today for the first time and felt so relieved I may have cried like a baby shed a tear.

For those that have never been in hospital: headphones and earplugs. Sleep masks if you are so inclined. Total. Must..

jaykay987 · 21/02/2014 10:58

yay! such good news ismarah.

mrsb - why didn't I think of sending dh to the car twice? amazing idea! Grin

ZingSweetMango · 21/02/2014 11:26

Ismarah

phew, soo happy for you, excellent news!

notice my NC -just coz baby is supposed to be the size of a large mango.Smile
funny how all comparisons are typically food!

AuntieMaggie · 21/02/2014 12:26

zing I've laughed about some of the food comparisons when looking at how big the measurement actually is - rarely have I seen an onion as big as baby was a few weeks ago!!!

I need some advice about storing clothes that aren't going to fit for at least 12 months!
