Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

So pleased all scans went well, sounds like some awesome Valentines breakfasts took place! Dh was working away thu/fri so spoiled him upon return with steak and his fav veg for tea alongside what looked like an amazing glass of wine, whilst I sat there with my rice krispies living it up!

Lovely to hear everyone is starting to show/ feel babies move more. I'm definitely showing and in the wrong outfit look enormous! A colleague at work made my day by saying other than bump I'm looking very slim- no doubt down to not eating other than lunch and still being sick. I'm not weighing myself unless midwife has to but not surprised if stayed the same...

Went back to the doctors today as back has been agony the end of this week and shouldn't really have been in work. Last time I went dr said would refer me to physio then this time (diff doc) said I need to speak to midwife to get referred so have to wait and ring on Monday! Very frustrating.

Anyone else wide awake? Only fell asleep at 1am so going to be a long day for me!

osinachi · 15/02/2014 05:29

Hello ickleam also awake. Sorry to hear you are still in pain.
Went to bed by after 10 but found myself awake :( Anyway jus
t bought a travel system!!! My first purchase. It's a petite star kurvi and got it on Amazon for just under £180' Am feeling very brave cos I haven't actually seen one in any shop so haven't tried it out but my consolation is that I can always return it. But for the price I couldn't resist and it meets most of my requirements.
Dh and I are going to the baby show next Sunday so will still be on the lookout for a bargain.

ZingSweetApple · 15/02/2014 06:40

I'm up to

9 lots of viewers coming today, we'll be at my PIL's.
I have a horrible cold & cough and quite worried that it's turning into a chest infection (had it before, feels the same)Confused

seeing hospital consultant about DS2's tonsillectomy on Tuesday.

I can feel baby moving around as certain parts of my tummy suddenly goes harder, and I still have bubbly sensations, but no "proper kicks" yet, as such.

It surprises me how little time I spend thinking or concentrating on baby - but I guess there's so much else going on my attention just runs out each evening.
I mean yesterday I was helping someone lift s heavy bench without thinking - I'd actually forgotten I was pg and that I shouldn't.Sad

I'm looking forward to some things getting sorted and done so in a few months time I can just relax and play belly games or sort baby stuff and argue about baby namesGrin

ZingSweetApple · 15/02/2014 06:41

I meant I'm up too!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 15/02/2014 08:21

Ladies got a bargin in asda - a Tommie tippee nappy bin for £8 it's £25 in Mothercare :)

We also got a Silver Cross travel system on eBay for £35!!!

Hope everyone is keeping safe I'm on the east coast and our little house is taking quite a battering with this wind :(

SmallOlympianBear · 15/02/2014 08:22

Good luck with the viewings Zing. Know what you mean about forgetting you're pregnant. Between DD, planning our wedding (8 weeks, eek), extension and work I feel like I have so little time to think about this new life, right now.

Churros breakfast sounds amazing :)

Ismarah movement started around 16 weeks but I don't feel much either. Didn't last time. In fact I went in for scans a couple of times as I hadn't felt anything for a while and she was wriggling away. Think it was to do with the placement of the placenta - acted as a shock absorber!

I'm definitely showing, but thankfully other parts of me haven't started joining in the expansion (yet).

Does Anyone have any thoughts/advice about double buggies? Ideally I'd like to get away without one (eg by carrying the baby) but I'm not sure that's realistic. DD will be 25 months..

MrsA2 · 15/02/2014 08:33

Zing 9 viewings is excellent, sounds very promising. Sorry to hear you are feeling rough.

PIXIE it was awful here too, flooding overnight but our road is higher so is fine. May just double check the road we are buying the new place in too...!

I know what you mean about forgetting about pregnancy. I feel good at the moment (sorry to those that don't) and was thinking about moving some stuff around and further down the line packing for a house move - just realised I'm going to be half useless. I have to keep reminding myself about avoiding certain foods too.

That said I'm getting a lot of kicks now so that's a pretty nice reminder!

talulahbelle · 15/02/2014 09:42

Ugh, awful night last night, DH has mega man flu and was up getting painkillers/drinks/coughing. Then I got up to make him a lemsip at 5am. To be fair to him he did offer to sleep in the spare room, but I hate an empty bed. Sleep deprivation has to be good practise for when the baby arrives, right?
No flooding or wind damage near me, but we are reasonably high up and sheltered. So sorry for any of you worried about flooding and damage, the pictures of some places on the news look horrific.

Still no definite kicks or movement felt, but I'm only just 17 weeks. I'm hoping I start to feel something soon. We had indian takeaway last night and I really fancied a beer with it, I nearly forget that I couldn't drink.

Morning everyone! (just rolling out of bed!) Grin

so nice to hear of all the healthy scans.

My friend told me that tommie tippee bottle pack thingy with everything we need is half price for £69 in Argos. I have no idea what the hell it is but my friend seemed very excited about the bargain so I thought I'd share with you all Smile

DH is refusing to go to the baby show next weekend. He doesn't understand how clueless I am!!!

I'm in Somerset and the storms and the floods here are dreadful! Many roads are inaccessible. Had to drive through a "river" to get back home yesterday. Some of our roof tiles have flown off too...oh the joys of this weather!

dramajustfollowsme · 15/02/2014 14:23

We had a little casualty of the weather last night. I've never seen thunder, fork lightning and blizzards all at the same time.
Lightning struck our driveway. It is singed and stones flew up and smashed our windscreen. Confused
What are the chances?!?
Our hospital won't tell the sex of the baby so we have this morning booked a private scan. I didn't mind waiting with dd but this time I want to sort through the stuff we have.
I just realised we gave away our Moses basket to a friend. Dh isn't keen on buying second-hand for that so if anyone sees a bargain please let me know.

AuntieMaggie · 15/02/2014 14:56

I've created a spreadsheet listing what we need and what we have the thing I'm struggling with is how many clothes we'll need for the first 6 months...

If any of you more experienced mums have recommendations for things like bottles etc please let me know.

icklekid · 15/02/2014 15:07

Ohh jealous of all those going to the baby show, not sure when its in brum but would love to go got some fellow pregnant friends who may come with as fairly sure dh would refuse!

We got 2nd hand moses basket going to get a new mattress but can't see point buying new for how little it will be used.

Just finished building babys wardrobe which is definitely a luxury but the whole set was just so cute couldn't help it. Dh has just escaped to the gym after getting frustrated about lining the doors up!

Picked up my maternity clothes this morning ordered from Debenhams as had vouchers to use up not tried them on yet but look nice :-)

icklekid · 15/02/2014 15:09

auntie I have a similar ridiculous spreadsheet thinking of getting lots but all white and not taking labels off so can exchange and size up if not needed?

dramajustfollowsme · 15/02/2014 15:36

I'd say don't buy much clothes at all, except vests (no one ever buys you vests). You will probably be given loads of gifts and you don't know what size or how quickly your baby will grow, therefore you might end up buying things for the wrong season.
Dd only came out of newborn size at 6 months. A lot of the 3-6 months clothing was very summery and she only would have fitted in them in winter, iykwim.

dramajustfollowsme · 15/02/2014 15:39

P.s - I have a spreadsheet of things too. I feel guilty that it contains more things we need for dd than the baby. She will have to move out of the nursery so the baby can move in. It feels like this little babe is getting very little things bought especially for them - most is dd's hand-me-downs.

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 15/02/2014 15:48

Auntie, the clothes you will find most useful for the first 6 months is body suits and sleep suits rather than fancy outfits.

And don't forget you are having a summer baby, so that 0-3 month size snow suit in the sale won't seem like such a bargain unworn but too small in November .

mummytobejuly2014 · 15/02/2014 18:09

How many vests/sleepsuits are all you getting for your hosp bag/enough to get us started at home? Do we buy these in newborn & 0-3 incase we have big babies?

AuntieMaggie · 15/02/2014 18:16

I'm not planning on buying many clothes - just enough to get through the first month and just vests/sleepsuits like you say. The grandmothers are knitting so won't need cardis! I figure I can buy anything else I need online and get it delivered.

ZingSweetApple · 15/02/2014 19:14

Just been sick again - when is this misery of MS & puking end?Sad

had 10 lots of viewers today, EA is very positive about a few of them.
we'll know Monday lunchtime if anyone put in an offer.

fx

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 15/02/2014 20:46

Zing, hope you get some good news from the EA on Monday and that sickness stops.

For DS I got a pack of white bodysuits and white sleep suits in newborn and 0-3 months. I listened to the wisdom of MN and took a couple of things in 0-3 months in case it was a big baby. DS was born at 41 weeks weighing just over 6lb (2.8kg), the newborn stuff drowned him and we had to get emergency tiny baby clothes.

But if you have a big baby you might need the 0-3 months.

liquidstate · 15/02/2014 20:56

Well I had a scan yesterday then drove to north Norfolk to stay at my parents. They had a power cut so haven't been on MN since Thursday eve.

Anyhow scan went well, we have an acrobat with legs everywhere Grin. DH convinced its a boy as the legs are long but I pointed out he has tall sisters and bean still not in full proportions I think. We don't care either way but I don't want him being disappointed with a girl if he convinces himself its a boy for the next 20 weeks.

Mum has been in a knitting frenzy and my nan has crocheted a gorgeous round shawl. Am very lucky.

Still being sick and have the severe pelvic pain (SPD/PGP) but Physio starts in a week so hopefully that will help. My cousin is 31 weeks and on crutches so hoping I don't end up as bad.

ZingSweetApple · 15/02/2014 21:05

ooh, liquid PSD is cruel.

not sure what you've been advised so far, but knees together when you get up, sit down or get out of the car (turn on your bottom).

you might want to start sleeping with a pillow between your knees.

and make sure you don't sit for longer than 30 mins in the same position.
poor you, I had it 4 times (varying severity & length) - I really sympathise.
osteopath can help too.

and great news on baby!
DS5 had beautifully shaped calves so I was convinced it's a girl - until we saw the "goods"!Grin
he still has gorgeous calves. and toes. and a beautiful smile.
(love him to bits!)

Plateofcrumbs · 15/02/2014 21:22

liquidstate sorry to hear about the SPD, hope physio helps you.

Absolutely exhausted today and have been moody like a teenager (poor DH has had to put up with me throwing a strop in John Lewis!). Just woken up from a long nap and feeling about more human now.

AuntieMaggie · 15/02/2014 21:43

Back in the summer I had a problem with a nerve in my groin area which caused pain and a 'dead feeling' in my thigh - its back with a vengence but now in both sides. My job involves facilitation which I get really enthusiastic about and got caught out twice last week where I stood for two long and regretted it later when I was suffering. Feel a bit daft going to the doctor though I probably need to :(

liquidstate · 15/02/2014 21:50

Thanks zing for the advice. The general theme I am getting from everyone is that I should keep my legs shut. Wish I had heard that back in October Grin. My lovely MIL has persuaded DH to pay for Hydrotherapy sessions so will do that if it gets worse.

I have a back support and went for a long walk today - well a mile which is the longest I have walked since November. I have a 4 hour drive home tomorrow Sad but will take it easy on Monday. The best thing is I have the M&S Valentines meal deal sitting in my fridge for tomorrow night. I may not have told DH about the free chocs meaning they are all mine Smile.
