MrsGSR You are giving me hope! Thanks

Is anybody planning to use a TENS machine? Have you tested yours yet? Mine has been lying on top of my hospital bag for a couple of week now, but I have yet to have a look inside the box. Would probably make sense to read the instructions...

littleraysofsunshine · 17/01/2014 17:46

So the past two days I've had regular Braxton hicks, increased watery discharge (sometimes) and just the feeling of a lot of downward pressure. But I think it's just early labour starting as I did this with my previous two and then active labour was fast and both flew out.

Due 26th but just no idea when it'll happen. The SPD/PGP has subsided a bit now.

I just keep getting waves of anxiousness about what my first labour sign will be as was different with each before, and if I'll make it to MLU. Of course the pain isn't nice but I managed naturally last time and I'm hoping to feel even more in control this time using better breathing. I felt I managed well both times, especially dd2 but I did let out a big swear word when crowning Grin

Oh and I'm Oxfordshire Smile

Angelesque · 17/01/2014 17:50

Lalunya welcome back!

Yep, our TENS machine has arrived - don't really know what to do with it. We haven't read the instructions either!! Testing would be a good plan... Might do that tonight (GOD my Friday nights are the epitome of rock n' roll these days...)

Angelesque · 17/01/2014 17:57

littleray if you want to join try PMing me your RL name and I will try to add you to the group if I can...

Lalunya85 · 17/01/2014 18:03

littleraysofsunshine downward pressure - yep, me too. I keep feeling like someone has dropped a bowling ball in my bladder. Especially when I walk a lot!

angel applying electric shocks to your spine is not rock'n'roll enough for you?! Grin My OH declared that he's too scared to try it on himself. Can you believe that? And we have to grow through childbirth! I suppose it's different when you know there'll be a baby at the end.

Mythreeknights · 17/01/2014 18:10

Oh I feel even more depressed now...zara Phillips has had her baby today....and I was definitely due before her!

Mythreeknights · 17/01/2014 18:33

But huge congratulations Zara if you are reading this [green eyed monster icon]

I can vouch for TENS. Still using mine, it's keeping me going. Do try it out before though, you need to get pads in right spot.

frying there are def ctx on the ctg, which are distinct from the pessary pains. If the pessary pain would fuck off, I'd be really relaxed, it's the lack of let up that's hard. They will check me at midnight, happy to wait until then in case there is more progress to be made! Mws are ace, really positive and encouraging. Have now climbed and descended five flights of stairs ten times. And walked about three miles. Come on cervix!

Fb wise, the group I set up is set so that anyone in it can add anyone else. Grin

Toothfairy78 · 17/01/2014 19:18

Naturegirl82 · 17/01/2014 19:34

Hi tooth I've just been added. Thanks angel

Percypiglet · 17/01/2014 20:21

Sorry for the "me" post but need to share....

Baby is due tomorrow (which I know means nothing), DH has woken up today with sore eye. Been to optician and we have to go to the hospital tomorrow as it might be a corneal ulcer which could lead to blindness.... He is understandably worried about sight but is worried about missing the birth as they may keep him in at hospital? It is beyond horrible to see him crying at the thought of missing his firstborn's birth (never ever seen him cry in 7.5 years of being together). Any ideas what I can say to him/do to help?? Hopefully the baby will stay where it is....

Naturegirl82 · 17/01/2014 20:26

Oh percy that's rubbish. is it the same hospital you are going to give birth in?

littleraysofsunshine · 17/01/2014 20:32

What's the fb group name?

Felix90 · 17/01/2014 20:34

Percy don't really have any advice but hope it goes well at the hospital for your DH Thanks

fryingpantoface · 17/01/2014 20:34

Ah humpty mine showed up as definite contractions on the machine too, they just weren't apparently.

fingers crossed it's different for you!

Percypiglet · 17/01/2014 20:34

No different hospital, specialist eye hospital. I feel bad as we should have gone to hospital today, but I was out and didn't hear my phone so missed his calls and then we were too late for appointments. Expect it will all be okay but it just an additional stress noone needs.

TarkaTheOtter · 17/01/2014 20:50

humpty I'll bet all that stair walking is making a difference... But as a cautionary tale I struggled to walk for about 24hrs after giving birth because of muscle stiffness from my stair climbing during induction so make sure you are doing some stretching too! The midwives were quite concerned about my hobbling until I explained!

TarkaTheOtter · 17/01/2014 20:54

percy how far apart are the hospitals? Could he get a taxi to join you when you go into labour? As it's your first it should take a while. Thanks

Naturegirl82 · 17/01/2014 23:15

One of my pet birds just died. Her mate sounds so sad calling out for her Sad

enormouse · 17/01/2014 23:35

Meant to come back and write more but lots happening down here.
DPs uncle died today. He had been battling cancer but seemed to be in remission. In the last week or so he had gotten pneumonia. He was in his early fifties.

I hope baby hangs on past Wednesday so I can attend his funeral - he was a lovely man.
DPs mum is suffering terribly, lost her own mum last year. Sad

Just a quick update. Sophia was born this afternoon at just before 1pm, weighing almost 11lbs
and 56cm long at 40 weeks + 11
Days.

I had gone in for induction Thursday am, planning to come home with rescheduled date on Saturday. Instead decided it was time to just go for it. I had my waters broken, then later some diamorphine, then an epidural. They let me try to labour inc 90 mins pushing but ended up with c section. V different to the water birth I had wanted but she's healthy and safe , and a few weeks of taking if easy would be nice :)

Will catch up with everyone in a few days ;)

Naturegirl82 · 17/01/2014 23:42

Sorry to hear that enormouse. I hope your dp is doing as well as can be expected.
