Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm waiting for MIL to call M 'her' baby again (like she did on Saturday when we dropped in to see her at work. "Come and look at my baby!" she said to all and sundry.
I raged silently, and passive-aggressively ignored all her hints about getting her out of the pram.

Oh, she's nice really. I'd just rather she didn't make my baby smell like really strong perfume and ask me if she's 'good', and if we've 'broken her of the habit' of sleeping in our bed yet.

Frizz1986 · 22/01/2014 12:04

Thanks ladies. I am doing bits a pieces around the house and caved and went for a small walk. I really want to be back to normal so i can go on long walks with pooch and really get into the swing of everything. Its silly really as I've just carried a baby for 8 months (ish) and pushed it out my foof so of course its going to take time to get back to normal. It makes me giggle that dh suggests these things yet he has an office in the house and it is a MESS! Will suggest he sorts it out over half term as want to store the buggy in there instead of in the middle of the dining room.

gummi my sister had the same thing with sleepsuit legs so instead of getting rid, she cut the feet off and put booties on him.

TobyLerone · 22/01/2014 12:05

Also, I didn't know that having a boy and a girl was a measure of intelligence, but I'll take it :o

TarkaTheOtter · 22/01/2014 12:39

Yes it is apparently toby. Although I was also a "clever girl" for just getting pregnant so there's hope for those who don't.

Mine is actually nice too, just a bit strange and old fashioned.

She spent a lot of dd's first year asking dh if dd was "still on the teat". But as she never directly gives me unwanted advice and dh thinks she's ridiculous it doesn't really bother me.

BandontheFun · 22/01/2014 12:40

Congratulations Bunt and Shroom

I took size up to a month and newborn. Baby was under 8lbs anything bigger would swamp her. Needed to get my mum to go out and buy more newborn sizes. Been going through loads, between peeing when I'm changing her and sickness. Totally agree that sizes vary massively, Boots are quite large, the ones that for best are plain white asda sleep suits.

Frizz I had a look, u were right no where near as bad as I thought. Not great but way less scary! Glad I looked now, I will know when it's getting better. I made the mistake of going out last night. Nieces 2nd birthday, just to house for tea and cake but felt totally overwhelmed with all the people and my painkillers were wearing off. Wish I had just stayed home and made DH go on his own. Although is nice to see Harley with her new cousins.

Oh and hats off to all you guys BF and keeping up with it. After the delivery I couldn't have taken anymore stress. So we decided to Ff, Feel a bit sad now that I have actually got some leakage, finally. But baby's happy so I'm happy. Although we have a little night owl on our hands. Great during the day sleeps away, but at night wide awake. DH took her through to her room last night to let me get some sleep. Been running on fumes for days.

My MIL has new lovely washed our front door while we where in hospital, no idea why but it did need it. Lol. My mum keeps telling me to out a hat on, i just make out I'm offended and wind her up! Really is the simple things.

Hope everyone is doing well! :)

Naturegirl82 · 22/01/2014 13:20

Trying not to get excited but I think I may have started having contractions. Cramps with tightening and backache coming and going every half an hour or so. Going to take the dog for a walk and see if that helps.

Felix90 · 22/01/2014 13:23

Good luck nature!! Hopefully this is it!

Angelesque · 22/01/2014 13:58

Good luck Nature! Fingers crossed this is it!!!

Sitting here at 39+1 with zero signs of anything... Might have to defect to the Feb thread if nothing happens soon Grin

littleraysofsunshine · 22/01/2014 14:12

Good luck nature.

I've been feeling the same today, backache, period type cramps with BH's. Doubt it's anything though. I feel very stressed today so that's probably why.

flyawayblue · 22/01/2014 14:39

Good luck nature and to all those still waiting.

Nothing happening here but now have my induction booked to start on Saturday. Oddly feel a lot calmer now that is booked, would prefer her to come out on her own but at least I have the end in sight.

Just need to pack more food and nighties if I am going to be induced.. Oh and those of you that were induced where you allowed your partners all the time? It looks like I will be but I'm not sure I want dh asking how things are going regularly and may be better with headphones and music (I can be quite antisocial when in pain). Also is there anything you didn't take that you wish you had had?

Naturegirl82 · 22/01/2014 15:06

Ok so definitely think these must be contractions. Had to stop walking with the dog because they are getting quite intense. Will start taking a bit more notice of how frequent they are.

Percypiglet · 22/01/2014 15:29

Congrats Shroom . lots of girls - seem to be outnumbering boys on here!

Good luck Nature . My pains have stopped again, always seem to be at night.... Oh well, one day this baby will appear. Sweep on Friday...

Felix90 · 22/01/2014 15:55

flyawayblue I was on the delivery suite from the very start of induction so OH was allowed to stay right the way through but I know some hospitals will put you on the ward instead so visiting hours may apply. With me it took a very long time for anything to happen so it was a lot of waiting around, and I tried to send OH home to sleep/shower but he wouldn't leave and slept on a chair next to my bed Hmm highly annoying. Eventually he went home for a change of clothes and shower right when I was examined when I was on the drip and we had to call him back as I was fully dilated. Just make sure your DH is well rested as he will be a lot more useful towards the end if he is! Even if it means sending him home for a while at the start. The only thing I didn't bring and got OH to go and fetch was a pillow from home as the one I got in hospital was rubbish and I really underestimated the amount of clothes I'd get through, even though I packed loads! I found lots of crosswords etc to do was useful to pass the time as it was so boring waiting around.

Frizz1986 · 22/01/2014 16:17

Yay nature hope they keep ramping up and getting closer.

Mythreeknights · 22/01/2014 16:34

Good luck nature

Well, my milk has come in and my boobs are so sore I cannot even sleep when the baby is napping. We also had a chronic night, baby unsettled from 8pm - 1am, constant pooh nappies, red bum, hating being swaddled, refusing Moses basket, wanting feeding every hour and a half...properly awful. I then woke at half three with mega boobs, rock solid and pretty sore, baby woke at 4.20 settled again by 5.20 but in bed with me, so I was too scAred to fall into deep sleep in case I squashed her. Rough.

Frizz1986 · 22/01/2014 16:57

Bad times mythree I think the milk arriving is almost as bad as ctx. It was awful and much worse than i was expecting. It went after 2 days though.

littleraysofsunshine · 22/01/2014 17:01

My symptoms aren't amounting to anything. I am just praying I'm not overdue. Or by far. Dd1 5 days Nd dd2 9 days. Confused

anotherbitofcake · 22/01/2014 17:06

Does anyone else feel a little bit weird? I feel like I can't relax. I really want to be chilled out mummy but am pretty wired at the mo! I need to get used to not feeling panicky when LO starts crying! Also need to stop thinking too far ahead as some things how seem momentous to do e.g driving in car somewhere or breastfeeding in public. Also feeling a bit sad for my old life - the freedom I think. I love LO to bits but the responsibility is pretty overwhelming!

AnotherStitchInTime · 22/01/2014 17:30

Congratulations to bunt and shroom :)

Good luck nature

mythree hope it all settles down soon for you.

Sending eviction notices out to all babies still digging their heels in ...

BookTart · 22/01/2014 17:35

That all sounds very familiar another! In theory I knew everything would change when she arrived, I knew it would be hard work and I knew I'd have a lot to learn. I didn't appreciate how relentless it all is though. DD is lovely, but I have been feeling a bit apprehensive about how everything in my life will be now. And I'm really worried about how we'll ever get to all her appointments and stuff on time! I wish I'd got more practice in while DH was off work, but he's got a new game for his iPad, so...

GummiBear74 · 22/01/2014 17:45

bitofcake - yes, this is exactly how I feel! I'm just trying to take one step at a time and not worry about things we might have to do tomorrow, or next week. Otherwise I get completely overwhelmed. It gets easier every day though, I think, as we get more used to taking care of them Thanks

anotherbitofcake · 22/01/2014 18:00

How r u managing without Dp/Dh? Mine still on pat leave. F knows how ill manage when he goes back! But agreed just need to take one day at a time and try and chill out a bit. It's a new normal as a friend told me, just takes time to adjust. Spreading some baby confidence dust about!Shock

enormouse · 22/01/2014 18:10

Hi all. Been away for a few days as its been madly hectic over here. Though it seems to have calmed down for now.

Congratulations to bunt and shroom. And best of luck to the ladies still waiting.

The funeral went as ok as can be expected. Ds was extremely well behaved. He did fuss a little during the service but dp just took him out to the car. People at the wake commented on how good he was.
Hope you're doing ok nature.

So…today's d day and…nothing. Feels a little anticlimactic. Had a check up at the antenatal clinic and declined a sweep. Been booked in for an induction on the 1st of February.

Btw - I was a bit of a numpty and accidentally ordered 2 pairs of polarfleece booties from jojomamanbebe. If anyone would like a pair (multicoloured stripe, 0-6 months) please pm me and I can send them to you. Smile

Still contracting here, bout every 5 mins now. Mw just been to check on me and me and baby are doing well. Just trying to relax a bit, and keeping fx that they don't disappear!

Angelesque · 22/01/2014 18:19

Blimey Nature all going quickly! Good work! Sounds like little one will be here v soon, hooray!
