Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsVDB · 22/01/2014 06:52

bunt that sounds amazing, just what I'd like please! Also another whopper which is reassuring as mine is predicted big

Good luck percy

Due date today!! Still need to do my washing today as dh didn't get home until 10.30 last night so couldn't set up tumble dryer for me so not sad if he doesn't come today

TobyLerone · 22/01/2014 08:10

bunt, that sounds fab. I'm a bit sad/wistful that I'll never know how it feels to labour in water. It always sounds amazing.

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 08:16

little that's exactly how it was for me.2 it was like my body could get down to it until other children settled and then I'd need to sleep of course so it would settle. It ended up tho that ctx got so strong that they were making me wake and to painful to ignore or talk thro. It felt like it would never get to that stage as so any nights of thinking 'this could be it'. I don't know if the glass of wine helped but it might of. I watched Ina May (American midwife) talks of "spinchter law" on YouTube and it made lots of sense and explained a lot of what was going on. It actually helped me see what was happening when I arrived in hospital too. Our lovely midwife we had knew of this midwife and she's highly respected to the point that one if the midwives had gone and trained with her which was lots of ££ and other mws Envy

mrsv - I really hope you get birth you want too. feel lucky we managed it xx

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 08:23

Toby - I never thought I would get opportunity too after csection and tbh even now I'm not sure I'd want to actually deliver in the water. x

TobyLerone · 22/01/2014 08:29

I'm so pleased that you did get the opportunity :)

GummiBear74 · 22/01/2014 08:31

I barely made it into the pool before Annabel arrived, so didn't get much experience of labouring in water before I started pushing! I did deliver her in the pool, though, and it was great. I was sad when they made us get out to deliver the placenta!

MrsVDB · 22/01/2014 08:47

Quick question for those of you who have popped already. What size clothes did baby wear in hospital/ coming home? I had packed 0-3 but now thinking I should pack newborn?

fryingpantoface · 22/01/2014 08:50

Lovely birth story!

Felix90 · 22/01/2014 08:51

MrsV I only had 0-3 but rushed out at the last minute to get some newborn and I'm glad I did! Sylvie was 8 and a half lb and newborn clothes still looked a bit baggy on her. She's still in them now (she now weighs 9lb) and 0-3 still swamps her. Asda do a good starter set for around £8 which has a few vests, two sleep suits, a hat, booties and scratch mittens and they have washed really well. I got this as I thought it's not a massive amount to lose out on if they don't fit her Smile

Felix90 · 22/01/2014 08:58

Bunt your birth story is lovely! Glad you got everything how you wanted.

So I've still been having problems with bf (I have a big long thread about it in the breastfeeding section!) and went to see a councillor yesterday. I'm in loads of pain still when feeding and it's like she's chomping on my nipple with her gums rather than sucking. I was with her for 2 hours and she got me to do loads of different positions etc. and she said everything I'm doing is perfect and she is totally baffled about why this is happening. She checked for tongue tie and said there doesn't seem to be an issue there, and we seem to be doing everything right. She's getting in touch with another councillor in the area who has 30 years experience to see if she can shed some light on it all. I'm at the point now where I will have to give up bf if I can't get the pain sorted Sad I'm still giving Sylvie formula at night but expressing to make up for it, as it hurts too much to feed her. I wholly recommend getting in touch with a councillor if anyone is having problems as she was brilliant! I wish I'd done it sooner but thought I was just being a bit of a drama queen...

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 09:03

0-3 vest and newborn baby group here tho his feet literally fill the foot parts so won't be in them long.

gummi that sounds fab, my ctx were pretty much on top of each other and I was getting past 8 in water despite overwhelming urge to push. It was like gravity was stopping the final tip and as soon as I was out it was minutes till I was fully dilated roaring like some wild thing on the floor. I destroyed the gas and air out piece Blush the Midwife didn't want me to deliver in pool as large baby and she was concerned his the shoulders would get stuck and they can't touch baby as otherwise it'd breathe in water. He ended up having his little hands by his ears. I delivered placenta without injection and fairly quickly and painlessly while having newborn snuggles. I never realised the cord kept pulsating even after placenta delivered. We had a good look at it too, was massive and really amazing to see as baby's life support organ. I'm rambling lol. so far dh taking ds2 to school. ds1 rode himself in and me and dd reading in bed with baby (still no name tho we like Zachary) sleeping and farting next to me in bed. Smile just like his brothers then lol

Shroomboom · 22/01/2014 09:50

Congratulations bunt, lovely news!

We had an addition to the family yesterday too Grin Lily Eve was born at half past six last night and is perfect. She was 3.8kg and came out very fast!

Good luck to all those still waiting, every second of pain is worth it Smile

Naturegirl82 · 22/01/2014 10:29

Congratulations shroom

There can't be many of us left waiting now! I'm 41 weeks today. Getting some cramps again so going to haul myself out of bed to take the pooch for a long walk to hopefully move things along. Mw tomorrow when I'll have a sweep.

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 10:36

Fantastic news shroom and lovely lily and this one here are birthday buddies :) xx

MerryPops · 22/01/2014 10:39

Wow so many babies have arrived in the last couple of days! Still no signs here. 40 weeks on Friday, mw tomorrow. I'm guessing I will be offered stretch and sweep at the end of next week. Getting a bit lonely on the still waiting side!

I have totally lost track of all the babies but congrats to you all. Your birth stories have been great at showing that no matter how baby arrives they get here in the end and that is the important thing.

Off for a long walk today, let's see if we can get the rest of these babies moving!

Felix90 · 22/01/2014 10:42

Congrats shroom!

Frizz1986 · 22/01/2014 10:48

Congrats shroom Lots of lovely babies!!

felix glad you are getting some bf support and hope that they are able to figure it out and help.

mrsv we had newborn things but Aurelia was so tiny (even at 37 weeks) that she was in tiny baby so had to go out and buy lots. She is 7lb 11oz now and still fits in tiny baby but we should be able to slowly move to newborn.

I didnt get much time in the water either (39 mins to be exact) but it was pretty awesome. I think it took some of my weight away and kept me lovely and warm. I got to deliver the placenta in the pool too but didnt get to see it (we did ask to) because everything was a bit crazy what with newborn snuggles and excitement and getting transferred to hospital.

I coped well last night with dh going out to his friends for the eve. Washed, fed and changed Aurelia and settled her for bed by 7pm. Then she snoozed for most of the eve, but was a bit of a nightmare at 3am when she fed and wouldnt go to sleep until 5am! Think its a gas issue though so hoping to get that sorted.

So dh mentioned that maybe I should go out for a walk today to get out and take the dog out. I told him that i was still bleeding quite a bit and wanted a week of not doing much to see if it calmed down before speaking to my gp/hv. Bit annoyed as people keep suggesting I do things and I just think i tried to do too much too soon and am now paying for it. Just need some time to heal. Really want to be out and about as I have the energy for it but just worried the bleeding will never end.
I dont have a car now either so am a bit isolated until the new car comes in March as no buses to any groups and they are a bit far to walk atm. Am only 4 weeks pp though and am aware with a big tear it can take 6-12 weeks to feel better.

Sorry for the me post.....

Naturegirl82 · 22/01/2014 10:51

Frizz listen to your body and relax if that's what you think you need Smile

So my pregnancy app just congratulated me on my 1 week old! If only!!

flyawayblue · 22/01/2014 11:20

Congratulations shroom and all new mums and babies.

frizz sounds like you do need to rest, hope your bleeding slows down - I agree with listening to your body.

Still here and 41 weeks today, trying not to focus on the still pregnant bit and watching the tennis / cooking. Thinking of going for a walk but my hip is still really painful so not sure that would work.

Nature I had a 'you baby is a week old' email today, deleted without reading! Think they should wait for you to pick yes I've given birth as it's just another 'oy your meant to have had it by now' reminder..

MIL is also irritating me, she has 4 kids and 2 grand kids already but is still asking dh daily if I've had it or asking if they will induce me earlier. I know she just wants to meet her but doesn't she think we do to? Or that we wouldn't tell her? Wouldn't mind so much if the questions where from someone that didn't have kids.

TobyLerone · 22/01/2014 11:24

MrsV, Meredith was 6lb 10oz, so was in tiny baby clothes from the start. She's now 7lb 8oz and they'd still fit her if only her feet weren't so massive! So she's in (slightly too large) newborn.

frizz, do what you need to do.

TobyLerone · 22/01/2014 11:29

Congratulations, shroom!

MIL is coming over this afternoon. She has been getting on my nerves since Meredith was born. I'm sure I'm just being evil and intolerant, but why change the habits of a lifetime, right?! Wink

GummiBear74 · 22/01/2014 11:40

Annabel was 6lb 12 and is also in newborn size. Just a word of caution, though - we had a newborn starter set from M&S, and those clothes fit her perfectly, but the newborn size sleep suits we then bought from Tesco seem to be for babies with really short legs. We've abandoned those and I'm going to dash into M&S this afternoon to get some more of theirs instead.

TarkaTheOtter · 22/01/2014 11:52

frizz maybe talk to your hv about the bleeding now if it'll reassure you. I thought it was quite normal to still be bleeding (even red blood) at 4/5/6 weeks. It can also come and go. With dd it stopped completely at 6 weeks for about a week then started again a week later for another few weeks. Resting will slow the flow temporarily but once you get up again it might increase again.

On the other hand I wish I'd rested more when I only had 1. This time round I feel like I have to get out for dd's sake and I think it's made me really run down and ill.

TarkaTheOtter · 22/01/2014 11:54

I agree that tesco newborn are v small, especially after washing. Alex is still in newborn and he must be over 8lbs now so I think it is worth having some cheap vests/babygros unless you know baby will be born 8lbs+.

TarkaTheOtter · 22/01/2014 11:57

toby on the balance of probabilities I'd say it's much more likely that she's just really annoying.

But I'm not the best judge as I'm already cringing at my mil telling me how "clever" I am to have one of each when I see her this weekend.
