Lucy is a lovely name, mythree :)

gobbo, that doesn't seem to make sense. If she's sucking well and there's no milk around her mouth, where's it going?! How confusing for you.

TarkaTheOtter · 21/01/2014 16:37

I have a windy baby too. I have a really fast letdown and he swallows lots of air. I've seen some improvement with taking him off when I feel letdown and only putting him back on when the milks stops spraying by itself. I know from dd that they do grow out of it after the first couple of months so just added it to my list of things that will pass:
Lochia
Engorgement
Pooing every feed
Winding after every feed
As I tick these off I know things will get slightly easier.

TarkaTheOtter · 21/01/2014 16:40

Ps for those struggling with feeding I can't recommend getting to a peer-support group in rl. There'll have seen every imaginable problem (and often been through them thereselves) and are often more knowledgable than midwives/hv/nursery nurses. I can't speak for every group but my local one is very inclusive and has no problem supporting mixed feeding.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 16:49

tmi alert - I do have quite big boobs and I'm wondering whether the nipple is going far enough back in her mouth? She's sucking well but I'm wondering if she's using me as a dummy mostly and only getting the odd mouthful of milk. I don't have excruciating nipples though which I did with DS when his latch was so shallow due to TT. Any advice very gratefully received.

When I'm expressing (with double pump), I'm getting 120 - 150 mls every 2 to 3 hours so there definitely is milk. not a mad fantasist!

three - Lucy is a lovely name.

Am not weighing myself either - am too scared!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 16:50

tarka - yes - I might try and take myself off to a support group. To baffle them with my milk hiding boobs!

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 16:53

Congratulations bunt. Smile I'm dreaming of a nice water birth and making it to MLU :)

flyawayblue · 21/01/2014 17:01

Congratulations bunt, lovely to hear you had such a nice birth after the long long first stage.

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 17:35

I'm off to a breast feeding group in the morning which is run by the nhs. Apparently if I have any issues once the baby is here they can come to the house to help. They called me up to invite me so not sure how you'd arrange to go, maybe ask the midwife?

Frizz1986 · 21/01/2014 18:55

gobbo it's possible that your nipples are full. Midwife told me that if that happens you need to get rid of some of the milk yourself to make the nipples softer and then bubs should be able to feed better.

I think Aurelia is uber gassy too so am going to get some infacol to help.

Dh has left us for the evening to go back to geek night (i gave him permission) so I have washed Aurelia, put her in her pj's and am trying to settle her so I can chill a bit this eve. Have been chilling all day really though to try and stop the bleeding and it seems to have slowed a bit so I have decided I'll have to continue to chill all week.

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 20:51

I've noticed that the past few days I've been feeling like I need to poo a lot even when I don't sometimes? Sorry if tmi.

Bh's still strong, baby's movements are making jolting pains now & again but so far, nothing....

I really don't want to be overdue.

And still keep having concerns of how fast it will be (just going by experience of a 3ish hour & 1hr start to finish with my girls)

Toothfairy78 · 21/01/2014 21:25

Congrats to bunt!

MrsG Karen's not been opening her mouth enough too and my left nipple's been seriously chomped (but weirdly not the right). Anyway we had a breakthrough yesterday as I found a tip on the web which is to do the nipple on nose to top lip and the bottom lip as usual but, when she opens her mouth gently press with your index finger below her bottom lip and her mouth will suddenly open extra wide! So we've been doing it since yesterday and my left nipple us feeling SO much better!

Can't remember where I found this but might be worth a try?

I have also been hand expressing a bit before feeding to deflate my left boob to make latching a bit easier too.

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 21:53

This baby literally feels like it's trying to push out before my body is dilating. The squirms are unbelievable

fryingpantoface · 21/01/2014 21:59

Congratulations Bunt!

i had my first day where i felt like an utter failure as Henry's mom today. Not to ds, he tells me when he needs stuff.

H wouldn't settle for me in the wrap, he'd been happy in it for dh, he was crying because we forgot his dummy (he likes to suck) then when we finally got home i couldn't settle him. He just kept crying and crying. I kept going over the check list. Does he need a nappy change? Milk? Cuddles? Then all of a sudden he fell asleep. So i was afraid to move for hours.

I'm constantly watching for pnd as i had it with ds, but dh said he isn't concerned and today was just one of those days. I just feel crap that my baby wouldn't settle for me and he's supposed to want to be around me. So that was tough.

I'm gearing myself up to go upstairs for the night and just hoping i know what he wants this time.

sorry for the pity party

Angelesque · 21/01/2014 22:05

littleray me too! Was up in the wee small hours trying to relieve pelvic pressure - I swear he was trying to squirm his head through and out last night...

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 22:09

Mines trying to push out the side. I get this weird pain then when I put my hand on my side there's a huge hard bulge which sometimes I can push back in sonetimes not. Very strange. It's on the side where I think the back is do assuming its a bony bum when he's bending in 2 as lower than where it normally is

Naturegirl82 · 21/01/2014 22:23

frying hope you're feeling a little better. I'm sure it's normal to have days like that, feel free to vent as much as needed though.

So I've just nearly had a breakdown trying to fit the friggin door to the baby's wardrobe. Seriously, I would consider myself a competent diyer and more than skilled at putting flat pack furniture together but this was ridiculous. Finally managed to do it thankfully by ignoring the instructions so at least tomorrow I can put all the lovely new baby clothes away that I washed today.

And I think I've started to loose my plug. Whoop Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/01/2014 23:14

frying I had that day yesterday. No fucking thing went right. The universe hated me and I hated it back.
Today was fine! Wink
I think the phrase is 'this too shall pass', unless you're at the stage of 'NO IT FUCKING WON'T AND EVEN IF IT WILL WHAT DO I DO IN THE MEANTIME' in which case the answer is, put down everything make tea have cake. Then do what you need to. Survive.

bunt woohoo! Ninja birth!

gobbo lanisoh is what saves me from homicide. Nips are getting a break overnight because Today they fed Alex to SLEEP for the first time! Go Tits! Formula overnight so that milk will finish coming in (started, but not rock hard yet) and I can use them without sobbing.
Every mw in here has said the same: if you need to use bottle to top up or have a break, do it. Do NOT cry with pain. Just don't. One couldn't bf for ten days after delivery as in ITU, then ebf for fifteen months no sweat. So I am not sweating it. Alex is massive and eats like a horse,I am not a horse's mother and don't yet have enough for her, when I do, great, until then, this works.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/01/2014 23:15

Oh, and the squirming out the side/vag pains? I had those. Made me rageous. Pain pain pain. Bath helped a bit, but not much. Gin would have been better sometimes was

anotherbitofcake · 22/01/2014 00:23

Frying u r doing great Grin

anotherbitofcake · 22/01/2014 00:24

An also bricking it for nights.

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 02:55

Right middle of night feeding time so.i can post birth story.

ctx came back last night after cheeky half glass of rose. They were 10 min apart and stronger enough to wake me. by 3.30 j knee this was starting something at last so woke dh with code word "peaches" Wink we cuddled and chatted between ctx before deciding that worth calling labour line. I wasn't able to talk thro ctx and was getting 2 in 10 min. parents called and by time they'd got here and we travelled to hospital it was 6 am and ctx every 4 min and strong. got on labour ward and greeted by same midwife who'd told me I wasn't in labour with dd and had forced pethidine on me. her first words were "you injured your hip?" (sarcastically) as I was finding walking thro ctx hard. she showed us a dirty clinical room and informed us this is all they had and basically was awful. my dh (god I love him) basically told her she was not our midwife and we were not having her or this room. because of how stressed I felt ctx all but stopped. However a new midwife came in and she was lovely and warm and friendly. she listened and made room homely and promised once pool room free we were next in. her shift was ending at 8 and she got another midwife from. next shift who was re known for active births. she was so fab and we bonded really well. I was 3 cm at 9 am. Went to midwife led pool room and ctx coming 3 in 10 and needing g&a for them as intensity ramped up. Waters went on their own at 10 when i tried to wee. I got in pool just after as ctx got even stronger. It was a relief. Stayed in pool till 11.05 ctx were one after another. Once out I was on all fours on birth mat and fully dilated a couple of minutes later and delivered him at 11.16am. Then I delivered placenta 11.23 with out intervention. Cord still attached and pulsating. Once it stopped dh cut the cord. I have a small tear. it was very amazing and exactly how we'd hoped xxx he was 9lb13oz and perfect. he's so chilled out and relaxed and it was best experience ever. went home after lunch and bonding time. His big brothers and sisters are besotted with him too Smile

Percypiglet · 22/01/2014 03:51

Well done bunt , sounds amazing!

Am up with achy back and crampy pains after long walk today to attempt to evict baby!

MrsGSR · 22/01/2014 03:59

Good luck percy!

I'm awake as baby stirred, it's been 4 hours since her last feed but she isn't taking so I'm cuddling her for a bit, she's so cute!

BuntCadger · 22/01/2014 05:30

Good luck Percy xx

baby cuddles here too. forgotten how cute their little noises are

littleraysofsunshine · 22/01/2014 06:16

4:40am wake up call from dd1. Their sleep has been so up & down lately which really isn't helpful.....

I'm now 39+3. Feel like baby is just going to take a long time to make its mind up. I always feel like I get more action in the evening but then I go to bed and it calms itself. Can't exactly go on a long walk in the day as it's just dds and I

Good luck Percy Smile
