Sorry nature to hear your sad news. Enormouse hope all goes well today.

Bunt congrats. Someone else gave birth too, so sorry not to remember who but congrats to all new Mums.

Well, still here at 40 +3 and nothing happening at all! However DH's eye is recovering well and hospital are pleased with his progress. Thanks for all the good wishes on that one. The baby can come now, and we are getting a bit bored waiting....! Long walk later I think.

MrsGSR · 21/01/2014 12:56

Thanks for the advice, I've been tickling her nose and lip but it just seems to annoy her! The pediatrician checked her for Tonge tie and couldn't see anything. I'm hoping lots of practice will help!

fryingpantoface · 21/01/2014 13:19

I'm watching Call the Midwife and tearing up at the births!

Swannykazoo · 21/01/2014 13:57

Hey mrsgsr having exactly the same trouble with my little one- the lovely yawny mouth has disappeared and my nipples are trashed. First baby so am very green about it all and shocked how sore a nipple nibble is after a fairly painfree start. Breastfeeding group is tomorrow so I'll report any magic solutions.....Fingers crossed,....

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/01/2014 14:41

nature glad you're feeling better about it. And if you get to induction, my advice (only been through it once) is to treat it like labour from the start. I didn't, I ignored pessary pains, thinking I was being pathetic, and should have had gas and air much much earlier to help me through. Then perhaps I wouldn't have been so exhausted when I got to active labour.
You might also be lucky and not get any pain from pessary, my room mate didn't, straight into ctx and nothing else .

Frizz go Aurelia! No idea if Alexandra has lost or gained as they don't weigh her in hospital, but she has finally had her newborn checks (age 3 days...) and passed, same for hearing test. She's taking boob and top ups of formula as she's too hungry for me at the moment, given her size. Therefore sleeping well, at least for now. She's also already into 0-3 clothes Blush. Chunky monkey.

bunt hope all well.

enormouse still thinking of you all today.

weight loss I wasn't going to find out my total gain (don't care), but they weigh you pre induction. I put on 12kg in total. Having had placenta scraped out and uterus packed and god knows what else, I've lost the bump really fast, but I don't recommend this as a diet!
I guess I lost 50% of that on delivery (4.5 kg of baby, plus placenta and waters?) but it now leaves me with 6kg plus all the extras I had before. About three stone of them! Come on bfeeding!

Talking of such, I am getting v sore nipples too. Given myself a break for 12 hours to let them recover, now about to try again. If she ever wakes up. Fat, ff baby sleeps a LOT! But only when there are others around who could help deal with her. When it's just me after 8pm, she screams blue murder.

Someone asked about macrosomia, they measured me, but if was seen at 32 weeks, then not at 34 or 36 (one was them deciding I didn't 'need to be seen' and one was scheduling issues in new area), then at 38. At 40, she didn't bother measuring, which is potentially when it was missed. But no, no scans or anything. Growth scans would have caught it, but measuring has to be done consistently for that to happen. Fallen between stools is the expression that comes to mind...

anotherbitofcake · 21/01/2014 14:43

Hello good luck to all those still waiting. i was 13 days overdue and had 80% great birth (tens and water) 20% horrific (forceps, 2l blood loss, hellp syndrome and spell on hdu)

my LO is happily all good though. Now 10 days old. I'm now struggling with v unsettled baby throughout night. It's making me v tearful especially at 4am when I just can't get him to stop crying. Apparently all normal though everyone keeps telling me. I'm now going to try feeding whenever, lots of skin to skin and co sleeping plus swaddling. And going to try infacol too as he seems like its wind related. Lots of head body and leg squirming and grimacing. Any other advice gratefully received.

BookTart · 21/01/2014 14:55

I'm in a similar boat with my LO another and it is making me very weepy, so you're not alone. She's 11 days old and has awful trapped wind that makes her shriek. MW yesterday said it is all normal, but she seems in so much pain and feeds almost constantly (for comfort?). I'll ask the HV when she visits on Friday. I'm terrified of what this will be like when DH goes back to work on Monday. He's not coping well with the crying, so I'm already worrying about how our relationship will survive the newborn stage, especially as I'm going to be sleeping in the nursery for 6 months!

BuntCadger · 21/01/2014 15:07

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 15:09

Wow bunt congratulations!! Home so soon after what sounds like a lovely birth. Just what this thread needed after the traumatic births recently :)

Angelesque · 21/01/2014 15:14

Aah Bunt congratulations!! Looking forward to hearing more details x

MrsGSR · 21/01/2014 15:16

Thanks puggle, there's a breastfeeding group on Thursday here I'm hoping to go to if it hasn't improved.

I'm not even weighing myself until 6 weeks! Can't do any exercise until then any way so I prefer to be in denial!

MrsGSR · 21/01/2014 15:17

Congrats bunt!

BookTart · 21/01/2014 15:22

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 15:58

Hello all - staggering in to see how everyone is doing

Many congratulations on the births and I'm very sorry to hear about bereavements

We've been home since Friday. Bit of a hiccup with the feeding. Eva, apparently has a "perfect" latch and I'm producing lots of milk. However, she's lost over a pound today at the 5 day weigh in. Sad

I had feeding issues with DS and ended up exclusively expressing for 22 weeks with him before moving to formula at 6 months. So - back to the expressing and topping up but I've git a bit if a horrid feeling that it might be impossible to ever establish breastfeeding properly.

Sending vibes to those who are overdue and hope everyone else isn't too tired and/or sore, as applicable

TobyLerone · 21/01/2014 16:01

How odd, gobbo Confused
Have they said why they think she's losing weight, given that you're both doing all the right things?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 16:01

humpty - meat to mention, do you have any Lansinoh for the nipples? I really find it a lifesaver.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 16:10

toby - it's totally weird. I have lots of milk ad DH e seems to be sucking well but hardly ever swallowing. Plus there is never any milk round her mouth or any that I can see in it. I hand express before latching her on so it's all there ready and waiting

Pretty sure not tongue tie as she can get her tongue out of her mouth and DS had tt so, whilst not an expert, think I would probably recognise it.

It's a total mystery - everything seems fine and she opens her mouth really wide so I can get a good latch. So frustrating

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/01/2014 16:11

Eva sucks really well - not DH dies of emabarassment Blush

Mythreeknights · 21/01/2014 16:29

Well done bunt!!!!!!! I am so happy that following all your pre labour pains you ended up with a straight forward delivery.

Sympathies to those bereaved, not an easy time at all.

Well, we have decided n the name Lucy for our daughter, and it feels lovely to have picked a name at last. She was up most of the night, particularly from 1.30am -4.30am feeding, winding and then pooing...so today we have tried feeding more often and keeping her in the kitchen with us and the boys so she is more aware of noise and the whole night day thing. Not holding out for any improvement tonight. She is pretty good though, and calm and quiet when awake, falls asleep easily in her Moses basket or chair and is generally a snugly marvel.

Ref weight loss, I lost a stone instantly on delivery but another two to go...and my boobs, omg they are enormous and must weigh half a stone each...going to get fitted tomorrow for nursing bras as my old ones are too small and tight. I do look ridiculous and like I am still expecting, but I am so much more comfortable not being pg that I don't care what I look like. Frankly biscuits are definitely part of the bf diet.

Ref getting baby's mouth to open wide enough, sometimes I shove the nipple in mid-yawn, but have you tried tickling the baby's nose with your nipple? I find doing that leads then to open wide.

My nips are bloody sore too, and boobs will be on fire tomorrow when milk properly comes in.

TobyLerone · 21/01/2014 16:29

Hahahaha!

Naturegirl82 · 21/01/2014 16:32

Haha gobbo that made me chuckle Grin
