Here you go - New thread! (Procrastinating wildly)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Shroomboom · 21/01/2014 06:35

Congratulations to all the new arrivals!

Nature so sorry to hear about your grandad Sad I'm thinking of you and your family...

I was wanting to ask some advice - I've had pretty strong BH's all night, and have got up this morning to a light pinky discharge (tmi sorry!). Should I call the midwives to tell them or is this normal? I lost my plug almost two weeks ago and that was quite different. Not sure what this is Confused Am 39+3.

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 06:53

shroom I think your cervix can bleed a bit when dilating but not 100% sure. I'd prob give them a call just to put your mind at rest. Sounds like you might be next!

Shroomboom · 21/01/2014 06:58

I rang them and we're going in. Not felt baby moving yet this morning so am really worried.

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 07:01

shroom I'm sure it's fine but worth getting checked. It's still very early. Have you eaten anything? I usually don't get much until I eat

Shroomboom · 21/01/2014 07:03

Not eaten yet, will grab something on way to hospital. Just hope there's movement after that!

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 07:08

Can't remember if I've said before but sorry for your loss Nature. It's horrid when things like that happen especially around a birth. When We had dd1, dps grandad passed away. And when we had dd2, his Nan passed away two days later. So tragic.

So my pelvis was painful last night, along with regular BH's every 6-8mins but not lasting 30-30seconds. Had a good stretch of sleep but then uncomfortable from about 4am when I needed a wee and also BH's started again. Still coming just trying to keep a track on them, intensity wtc. Dp and I DTD too (not rough!) for the first time in like two months where I've been so Uncomfy and not up to it. That might help along? Lol

BandontheFun · 21/01/2014 08:05

Congratulations Mrsg. So many babies now....yay!

Thanks for the congratulations. For every birth like mine there are loads of zen, easy and quick ones. So don't let mine put you off.

Frizz that's good to know about your tear, kinda feel like it will never be normal.

Hope today goes ok Enormouse

Nature I hope your doing ok. Thinking if you.

Frizz I hope your right about them not caring about mess. My house has been turned upside down in only one day, HV is coming and I have no idea when.

Bunt sending baby vibes your way. Today's the day!

Toby when did you first get weighed? I thought I would have been weighed in the hospital.

Shroom I had done pink stuff when dilating.

Bought my first baby girl clothing yesterday, when picking up milk. Makes me smile. :)

enormouse · 21/01/2014 09:03

I have an awful feeling today will not go well. Dps aunty (wife of uncle who died) has made a fuss at the last minute about no children at the funeral. This would have been ok but we found out with 12 hours to go via about 3 other people despite seeing her 3 days ago. We could have made arrangements for ds with more notice. But dps grandad and mum (dad and sister of uncle) are insisting that ds goes as he was extremely well behaved at the last funeral and that he is technically one of the few people related to the uncle by blood and has a right to be there. Dmum and Daunt barely get on well at the best of times and dmum thinks daunt is attention seeking etc. Dp thinks we should just go to support his mum and grandad, sit at the back and remove ds discreetly at any sign of fuss.

Sad it's all very messy. I would stay home with ds but need to go so I can be around our designated drivers who are going.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/01/2014 10:02

enormouse sending peaceful vibes your way for today. Am sure your DS will be beautifully behaved, hope other rellies can follow his example.

mrsv it means oversized. Mws should have picked it up, but didn't.

Got some sleep! It's a miracle!

bunt how are you doing?

nature how are you feeling today?

shroom I think it can be part of early labour but v sensible to get checked for sure. Fx all is okay.

TobyLerone · 21/01/2014 10:14

band I only ever got weighed at booking in and consultant appointments. I just weighed myself at home and remember how massively much I weighed before. I need to lose another couple of stone anyway, but it's good to know that anything from here on is actual weight loss. I just need to stop mainlining biscuits now...

enormouse, what a nightmare. Your DP has the right idea, I think. Hope it goes ok.

Frizz1986 · 21/01/2014 10:23

enormouse am sure ds will be wonderfully behaved and prove he has every right to be there. They cant expect you to sort childcare at such short notice and its something you kind of mention when you tell people the date and time.

humpty glad you got some sleep, it may be the last lot you get Smile

shroom am sure all will be fine but best to get checked out.

band i have hv coming today. Hoping aurelia is still piling on the lbs but hope she doesn't pee on the scales (she has done that 3 times so far)
The tear really will heal well. Have you had a look? I was a bit scared of looking but thought to hell with it, i really should so i know whats going on down there. I expected it to be horrific but it was fine. A nice neat row of stitches and it looks nicer than it did when i was pg and it had swelled to the size of god knows what. Even dh had a look and wasnt freaked out!

Shroomboom · 21/01/2014 10:58

Enormous sorry to hear about today's stresses, sometimes people don't think straight at this time. Seems odd though to request no children esp if ds is one of the few blood relations. There's not a lot your aunt can do if he goes, and personally I think it's important for everybody to be able to 'say goodbye'. Think your dh has the right idea but ds sounds like a sensible boy so sure it will be fine. Good luck.

Well I came in this morning, and they did a test and apparently my waters have gone Shock I've been admitted and have to stay and hope that labour starts naturally, if not then will be induced in the morning. Would that happen in the UK? I would've thought we'd be able to go home, and we've left the house in a state after getting ds off to school this morning!

Bandon that made me smile too Smile Such a special time!

Hope everyone's well and that babies are thriving Smile

MrsVDB · 21/01/2014 11:12

toby that's very impressive. Don't think I'll be that lucky. After only putting on a stone I have put on another stone in the last 3 weeks. Really hoping its water as I am quite swollen. Saw myself naked in full length mirror yesterday and was disgusted. My tummy is like one of those people on embarrassing bodies who have a saggy apron. It's only going to get worse when baby comes out. Not sure what's happened as wasn't like it a couple of weeks ago

Wow shroom what a surprise. Did you feel any waters come out? Not sure what they do here I'm afraid

Shroomboom · 21/01/2014 11:19

Yes it was a surprise! Feel a bit in shock now tbh, not like we haven't had the last nine months get used to the idea or anything Wink
There was definitely something coming out mrsv, more like water than anything thicker but it was blood streaked which scared me! It was only a tiny bit though, which is why dh and I were so surprised when the test came back positive! Things never happen how you imagine they're going to do they Grin

fryingpantoface · 21/01/2014 11:19

Sounds tough nature i would take the children anyway.

im 3 stones lighter, give or take a lb, then i was pre pregnancy. I still have 2 stones to go before im at my ideal weight according to bmi

Naturegirl82 · 21/01/2014 11:30

Feeling ok today. He was 98 and had a good life. Just glad it was all very quick in the end.

I've finally started on the baby's room. First job to demolish the built in cupboard which is proving harder than it first looked.

shroom that must have been a shock but exciting for you. Fx your labour starts naturally.

enormouse hope today goes well for you and ds is an angel. Bit harsh giving last minute notice like that and excluding children.

Humpty glad you got some sleep. Did your bump measure big at all? My bump has been measuring on size or slightly below but scans have consistently been a week or two ahead of dates.

toby congrats on the weight loss. Surely the biscuits are an essential part of the diet when breastfeeding though??

frizz fx Aurelia has continued to put on weight.

Frizz1986 · 21/01/2014 11:34

Wow stop with all this weight loss. I am nowhere near pre pg weight!!

Wow shroom Bit of a suprise. As long as you are passed 37 weeks they let you stay home for 48hrs to see if ctx start over here. Them they indice you to prevent infection issues.

Well aurelia has put on another 10oz in a week so is 7lbs 11oz now. Hopefully out of tiny baby clothes and into newborn!!

Naturegirl82 · 21/01/2014 11:37

Good luck bunt hope this is it for you

little hope the bh turn into something

I think I'm probably going to end up being induced. Nearly 41 weeks and nothing seems to be happening. See mw Thursday and I'll opt for a sweep but will likely be given an induction date for next week. Luckily it doesn't alter my birth plans massively as I all ready had to use the labour suite. Might work quite well if she is born next week though as then dh paternity leave will roll into half term so he will have three weeks with us. (I'm looking on the positives today). I've also come to terms with the fact that my parents won't be here for the first 3 months, I think that's part of the reason I feel better today.

MrsGSR · 21/01/2014 11:59

Glad you're feeling ok today nature

A quick question for those who are seasoned breastfeeders, Leah is latching on really shallowly, she won't open her mouth more so I can't seem to get her to take more breast and it's beginning to hurt! How can I improve the latch?

Angelesque · 21/01/2014 12:05

MrsVDB I was worried about how little weight I'd put on for ages - about 12lb until I hit eight months - then a stone in the final month!!! So suddenly got few stretch marks at 36 weeks which I was sad about, but it's not loads. Am going to avoid looking at myself or weighing until a week after the birth and take stock then! Just trying to focus on willing little one to a) get a move on and b) arrive safely and well for now.

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 12:09

MsG try to squeeze some out, let her smell or be near then just tilt her head back slightly so she'll want to reach out and gape open. Then make sure she's in a good position and latch Smile

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 12:10

Oh bunt, are you ok?? Haven't seen a post in a while Thanks

littleraysofsunshine · 21/01/2014 12:10

Sorry for triple post but can someone try to add me to fb again? GrinSmile

Frizz1986 · 21/01/2014 12:11

mrsg i am no expert as am a first timer but in hospital the midwives told me to tickle her lips with my nipple and squeeze my breast slightly to give the nipple a better shape to shove in her mouth (yes shove - but bring baby to boob not boob to baby if that makes sense)

GummiBear74 · 21/01/2014 12:25

Glad you're feeling better today, nature.

mrsg, has someone checked Leah for tongue tie? Annabel wasn't opening her mouth very wide, but she always seemed very sleepy when trying to feed, so we thought nothing of it. However, on our second day in the hospital, our local breast feeding specialist midwife was on duty and took one look at her and said 'she's got a 100% tongue tie'. We're really lucky here, they can sort it on the ward, so 10 minutes later, they'd snipped it and all is well!
