Never sure if my messages get sent ?

Nature - feel the same, 39+1 today and have midwife appointment. May ask for sweep? Or just wait until next week. Not entirely sure.... It's at 2:40.
I just want to enjoy this last potential week of having just my little girls, and soaking everything of them until new bundle. Just want to try and make the transition nice and relaxed for them as they're only 3.2m, and 19m

Angel - I have adjusted my security settings now so no idea what's going on?

flyawayblue · 20/01/2014 12:21

Morning all.

humpty hope you are feeling better today, love the new name though now both the names we were thinking of have been used Wink

Had my second sweep this morning and no change from Friday, well no baby change. I seem to have trapped a nerve in my hip which is excruciating.

They also won't offer me an induction until at least next Monday, which will be 41+5. That feels way too long and I really don't want to be pregnant in February!

Sorry for the grumpy post.

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 13:32

I don't think they offer inductions until 40+14 here fly

5 babies have been born on the February thread now!

If this baby doesn't get a wriggle on it is going to end up sharing a birthday with her cousin!

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 13:34

Just realised we were due date buddies fly!

littleraysofsunshine · 20/01/2014 13:41

Fly- me too! I want a January baby!

I may get one earlier as I have seen my midwife through all three pregnancies. And she's nice enough Smile

Just unsure to ask for one today or not? What do you think

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 13:42

Would they do a sweep that early little?

littleraysofsunshine · 20/01/2014 13:55

I had one at 39+ something before but she was still 9 days over lol

BandontheFun · 20/01/2014 14:13

Hi Ladies

Just catching up, just home today.

Congratulations on the new arrivals Blue and Humpty.

Enormouse hope you and your DH are doing ok.

I am now the proud owner of a lovely baby girl named Harley. So much prettier than me or DH! She is 7lbs 8oz of pure awesomeness.

And I am not gonna lie I found the whole labour thing, pretty traumatic. Had two rounds of Pessarys and woke up at 6am with major back ache coming and going, had to stay on my feet. (I expected contractions to be in the front so wasn't sure what the pain was) At 3pm the doctor came to see if i needed a 3rd luckily i didn't, don't think i could have taken it, I was sent to the labour ward to have my waters broken, given the drip, then those bad boy contractions ramped up. Think it was all of about 10 mins before I asked for an epidural. Ended up with diamorphine instead. Was pretty spaced out. After that it was loads easier, could still feel the pain, only the edge was off, but then when it came to pushing, the baby's HB kept dropping. Turns out the cord was wrapped round her neck, room filled up with doctors quickly, ended up needing forceps to get her out safe and quickly, ended up with a 3rd degree tear, (v - a) had to go to theatre right after delivery. All happened really quickly. Didn't really realise how serious it was until afterwards.

Needed a spinal for the repair so couldn't walk and needed a catheter so felt pretty useless when i got back to the ward. Had to have it for 24 hrs. So was outta sorts on sat and kinda shell shocked. But once the catheter was out and I could actually help on Sunday with Harley. (Instead of walking behind DH and baby with my bag of piss!) I felt more like myself and A bit more at ease with what happened.

On the plus side I have had private rooms for all of it, really made a difference.

Totally agree with you Humpty, must say her wee face is worth every stitch. Just glad she is out the other side safe and well.

Just have to get used to this parenting lark now.

Eeeeek...I have a baby and Pretty soon we will all have baby's. :)

Mythreeknights · 20/01/2014 14:44

Gosh band well done you on getting through that experience, sounds terrifying (and pretty similar to my first baby) and I hope you recover quickly mentally as well as physically. When it doesn't go to plan it is easy to feel like something has been 'robbed' from you. Just give that gorgeous girlie lots of cuddles.

We still can't decide on a name...how did you all 'know' so quickly?

All the best if luck to those overdue or feeling ctx starting

MrsVDB · 20/01/2014 14:48

Congratulations band sounds like a bit of an ordeal. I didn't realise just how common these types of complications happen may hide away until I give birth now

Had my 40w apt this morning and was the midwife I'm not keen on but she marked me as low risk yeay! although did ask if I'd had gtt which she does every time (which I have after she referred me weeks ago she found it tricky to find heartbeat but when she did its fine so assuming he's in an awkward position, which mw couldn't confirm although is still 3/5 engaged. Sweep booked for Monday although she did offer one this week I declined. ray it's worth asking :)

Frizz1986 · 20/01/2014 14:58

Congrats band Sounds like a tough birth but all good when you look at the little one. Lovely name too.
Parenting lark is strange stuff but i love it. Not quite used to it yet but time has flown by!
3rd degree tear will be fine. I am feeling loads better at 4 weeks pp and didn't have any pain when going to the toilet (did panic about the first time though but i made sure i took all my meds so all was fine)

TobyLerone · 20/01/2014 15:13

Goodness, there have been some traumatic births on this thread! Congratulations and bloody well done, band!

BuntCadger · 20/01/2014 15:34

Congratulations band :)

Had appt, fluid levels still just ok so had another stretch and sweep. Cervix has dilated, shortened, moved and softened more since Saturday so these ctx are doing something at least. Been getting regular and much more ouchy ones for past few hours. Trying not to get hopes up and just reeeelllaaaxxxx and breathe through them.

Plan of action is review on Thursday for another stretch and sweep and if no baby but baby all ok they want to rupture waters on Monday (they'd do earlier if they could). Couldn't believe this midwife though pretty much said c-section to which is said noooooooo, unless essential. Had to stop typing as ow ow ow

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 15:36

Congratulations band hope you recover well and enjoy your newborn cuddles.Smile

Well I finally got off my bum and did some housework so feel a bit better about my day. Got a friend coming over now for a visit Smile

enormouse · 20/01/2014 17:33

God band. You are made of strong stuff. Hope you, your DP and Harley are doing well.

Thanks again for the support everyone. We're ok. I've emailed off my essays so that's one less stress. I had a few tightenings in asda of all places and I got a bit worried but they seem to have calmed down. Just feeling a bit period crampy and back achey right now. I'm not sure what to look out for in terms of tightenings, ds was a show followed by waters breaking drama. I think I'm just going to have a bath and an early night and try to relax as much a poss.

The funerals tomorrow so hopefully can hang on in there till then. I have my bag packed in the boot just in case though.

Good luck to those being induced, having happy newborn snuggles and those of us still hanging on in there.

flyawayblue · 20/01/2014 20:40

I'm so sorry nature, my thoughts are with you and your family.

enormouse I hope everything holds off for you tomorrow.

MrsGSR · 20/01/2014 20:41

Flowers nature and enormouse, thinking of you both and your families.

Congratulations band, I hope you recover quickly!

Thank you to everyone who asked after me, I'm sat staring at my 7 hour old daughter! I was kept in hooked up to a monitor for most of last night, her heartrate weren't dipping much with contractions but enough to worry them. After taking 8 hours to get from 1cm to 1.5cm dialated, I had some pethidine and was fully dialated in a few hours, but was ignored for a while when I said I needed to push. Baby had twisted around so she was slightly back to back, ended up needing a epidural and forceps. By this stage I didn't care as I was worried about her being stressed. Had 3 individual stiches so a bit sore. She is very beautiful and totally worth it all!

littleraysofsunshine · 20/01/2014 20:46

Sorry nature Thanks

Congratulations band, recover well x

Had my midwife appointment. She could tell how uncomfortable I am feeling and to top it off, my PGP kicked off again today so can hardly walk along with the baby being very low.

She did the heartbeat, and I said I've been hearing it very low down with my Doppler. Her response when listening was "well, we don't usually get to hear the hb that low down until delivery" :-/

And she will give me a sweep next Monday. Didn't today as she didn't want me to be uncomfortable on the couch as I literally couldn't move.

And all day my bh's have regulated. Even more so since about 2pm when the pelvic pain kicked off.
Told Mau, they said to keep an eye.

Currently: 8:15, 8:24, 8:34, 8:39 lasting 30-45sec. I still can hardly walk. Just bizarre as I've had two babies! But still can't tell!

All I know is, I delivered them both fast. Pits as if my body jumps stages fast. And she said I could possibly be dilated 1-2 maybe 3 just by having had previous pregnancies in the past three years

littleraysofsunshine · 20/01/2014 20:47

She also commented again about my "poor tummy muscles" Sad
That she feels so bad for me as they're buggered on the front
