Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

altered i wouldn't panic about it. The hospital weren't scary crazy concerned with Aurelia's jaundice (and that was really high) they just had to start getting it lowered as she wasn't doing it herself. Her levels are still pretty high but they are slowly going down so she needs monitoring.
You are in no way a bad mum. You can only go off the advice of the professionals and its you being a good mum that makes you want to get it checked anyway.
Its the getting them feeding thats important as they get very sleepy with jaundice so feed less and it becomes a cycle. If they feed better then the jaundice levels will go down.

fryingpantoface · 19/01/2014 21:16

frizz it doesn't seem too heavy on the pad but it's bright red and mucusy too. Join me in taking it easy :)

the hv is coming over tomorrow for the first time which should be good

Naturegirl82 · 19/01/2014 21:17

mrsv if you're worried I would get checked. I was really worrying myself this morning and was so much happier after being monitored. Strangely after all the panic she has been very active this afternoon!

I hope everything sorts itself out for everyone with pains and baby worries.

Still just cramps, cervix pains and bh here. Really starting to look like baby won't be here before my parents go away which is making me a little sad. It also sounds like my grandad doesn't have long left and is just hanging on for the baby to arrive, so sounds like my dream may have been quite accurate this week Sad

MrsVDB · 19/01/2014 21:30

Thanks for advice. Still haven't felt much but I've given him a poke or 2 and can feel movement on outside of belly with hand just not from inside so assume its where he's moved and the ap

Sorry to hear about your grandpa nature

Naturegirl82 · 19/01/2014 21:38

mrsv sounds exactly like what I had this morning. I couldn't feel the movement inside but could see my tummy moving slightly.

MrsVDB · 19/01/2014 21:48

nature it's so confusing isn't it. After midwife wrote medium risk on my notes at 38w apt due to 'all these issues' (which as far as I can tell was just my raised bp at that appointment but never before) I'm wary of making a fuss. Really want mlu and hoping she doesn't rule me out. Got my 40w apt in morning and if I have a different mw I will mention it but if its her I think ill keep quiet

Naturegirl82 · 19/01/2014 22:10

Seems strange to rule you medium risk based on one bp measurement mrsv. My bp was raised (within normal but higher for me) at 40w appointment and mw put it down to lack of sleep that night, but retook it at the end if the appointment and it was fine (so clearly just raised from putting the dog out the back so she didn't eat the stethoscope!)

MrsVDB · 19/01/2014 22:18

That's what I thought nature as its not been high before (and isn't now either). This is the same mw who told me at 20w apt that I should have been referred to dietician and have gtt due to my bmi (when she hadnt weighed me or asked how much weight id put on and at booking in was fine) then told me to 'just eat less sugar' so think its my weight she has an issue with. I've always been low risk so hoping ill be back to low tomorrow

curlywurlyllass · 19/01/2014 22:42

Congratulations to all those with gorgeous cute cuddly (and some big) babies, I've missed so much in the last few weeks. Sorry to hear of bereavements, thinking of you. And good luck for the interviewsorry can't remember names

James has kept us busy and all the visitors and visiting has been tiring --However my boy now sparkles as I've been making thank you cards for all the gifts we have received and glitter gets everywhere

We ventured out on the train the other day and I realised I have so much to learn about public transport etiquette. I got on the train with the pram fine, but where do u go! Do u sit and block the passageways or stay by the doors? old trains with no disabled space
Then how the he'll do u get off the thing! The gap is so big I thought we might fall down to the tracks lol do u reverse off or bump down forwards? I felt like such a prat and in front of loads of commuters- I have so much to learn

Hope there's not too many ladies left waiting now, I was due last Wednesday and it feels so unreal that I have an almost 5week old little insomniac.
Oh and we have just started practicing safe sex lol the price of jonnies is ridiculous ;)

Hope those with sore nips feel better soon.
I deffo second taking fibre after birth-the pains, cramps and wind from lactose is gawd damned awful!
Hugs to babies needing more support for jaundice, hope they get better asap

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/01/2014 23:23

Thank you for the congrats ladies. Was a bit spaced when I wrote it, mainly as hadn't slept in three full days (induction night one, labour night two), so apols for essay.

We have possibly changed her name, as she has v long legs and big feet and will be tall, which coupled with her size suggests a tall strong girl. We might go for Alexandra Beatrice instead, Alexandra is my middle name, and since we started using it, it seems to fit her better. We'll see.

Not getting any colostrum yet (tried hand expressing), but am faithfully letting her suckle both sides for 15 mins each before giving her formula, from number of nappies and sleeping patterns I think she's hungry so may have to give formula for a few more days until my milk comes in. Apparently with big haemorrhages this can delay colostrum and milk. Mws are v relaxed about it, and help me try both sides. She latches well and sucks well, but we're pretty sure nothing is actually getting through yet. Keep trying!

To those who were/are worried about labour or inductions, I cannot say how much I agree about the end result making it worth the pain. And in my case at least there was a massive amount of pain, and downright terror, but I'm so over it all already, my stitches even hurt less when I cuddle her (and I have episiotomy AND internal vaginal tears with stitches in [show off face]).

MrsGSR · 19/01/2014 23:39

Haven't caught up yet, am being kept in overnight as baby's heartrate is dropping when I have contractions. Any one else had this? Slightly worried!

BuntCadger · 20/01/2014 00:06

Mrsg - it's good they are keeping you in, heart rate should show accelerations during contractions and declarations (slowing down) can be sign of distress in baby hence them monitoring baby. ds2 had this when I was in pushing stage and was so at assisted delivery as he needed to be born. He needed some help after but was ok. x

littleraysofsunshine · 20/01/2014 06:56

Wow, curlywirly how many weeks post partum are you? Smile

Woke up this morning having been laid on my left. And still feeling that my tummy has been doing BH's in my sleep. And when I woke it was in one. I could LITERALLY feel the shape and size of baby. It's laying still head down low, neck back on my left with bottom up then legs tucked round in a very fetal position. Felt bizarre like I could hug it?!Smile
Then I woke up and it stayed the same but just dropped into my bump. Lol

Going to start some raspberry lead tea today. Did early with the other two but was warned not to until late this time as dd2 literally flew out lol.

I've lowered my fb settings now so can someone please add me ?! GrinGrin

Angelesque · 20/01/2014 07:43

Hi littleray - tried to add you again but FB won't let me; it told me off! Let me know if you get my FB message x

BuntCadger · 20/01/2014 08:01

How are you this morning mrsg?

MrsVDB · 20/01/2014 08:45

curly I think I'd leave pram by door depending on how busy the train is. I think best bet is to get someone to help you lift pram down. Some of the drops are bad enough to get down without worrying about a baby. Not looking forward to this part!

alteredimages · 20/01/2014 08:57

Hope everything is well with you mrsg. Update us if you can!

Nour seems pretty alert except when feeding, when he nods off very quickly. Not easy to wake either, except by being put in his bed. Off to health centre now to check out jaundice, but leaning towards the sleepiness on the breast being due to supply issues. Weekend was frantic and didnt have a moment to sit. Lack of sleep, worry and poor diet I think are affecting supply. Will see if he has put on any weight this week, I hope so. I am so tired today that if they suggest supplementing with formula I will agree just to have some peace of mind. Definitely hit the 3 week meltdown period! If he is like DD it will give him more strength to improve his latch.

humpty keep going, you are amazing! I am sure your colostrum will come in soon. May well be there already, I could never express anything with DD even at 3 to 4 months, but she was putting on weight well. Just look after yourself, lack of sleep or proper food really messes things up as I have been finding.

How are things with you today bunt?

Mythreeknights · 20/01/2014 09:01

Morning everyone! I am feeling miles more human after getting a six hour straight run of sleep last night, first time in about a week what with all the pre labour wees and BH and then birth itself. I realise six hours night be a little long to leave baby without a feed but nothing could have roused me from slee last night. She feeds really well and seems ok to settle but that's probably just the first 24 hours and she will soon be up yelling the whole time. With two noisy big brothers she is going t have to get used to constant racket and chaos. Heading to hospital now for her newborn checks. Still no name...(8lb 5)

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 10:54

Morning, anyone else bored? Bored of waiting for baby to arrive, bored of pottering round the house, bored of housework. I'm annoying myself because I have no motivation to do anything! Not even make a start on the baby's room. Urgh sorry for the pity post. Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Swannykazoo · 20/01/2014 11:03

doffs hat in respect to Curly

MrsVDB · 20/01/2014 11:13

nature I'm still quite enjoying not being at work. Think ill agree to a sweep from Monday onwards as might be getting bored then. Once washing machine and tumble dryer get delivered tomorrow I can finish my mountain of washing now understanding the people who said I bought too many baby clothes as if takes a day for each load to dry at the moment

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 11:19

mrsv I had the same problem but once the tumble dryer arrived it was easy Grin . I had done all the clothes but dh waa given a baby shower on friday and I'm swamped with tons of adorable outfits to wash again.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 20/01/2014 11:20

Me, Nature, I'm right there with you. I can't find anything else to clean or organize. Bored of waiting, bored of the 'Oh god, you're STILL pregnant!?' Comments, bored of the constant requests for an update from family. BORED!

Have an appointment to break my waters tomorrow but as I'll only be 40+1 I've asked to move it to Thursday as I've been having mild contractions on and off the last couple of days and I'd rather go into labour naturally. At least that gives me a couple more days. I'm really hoping it happens as I'm nervous about having waters broken and then ending up with the knock-on effect of a whole load of interventions I wasn't planning for. Even though I had an epidural and episiotomy last time and the birth was calm and great. I don't know. I think I'm just not mentally prepared and feel like I'm forcing her out it'd hat makes sense!?

MrsG hope you're well this morning.

Angelesque · 20/01/2014 11:37

Nature yep! feeling bored already, even though I'm only 39 weeks. Also worried I've now got waaaay too much time on my hands to work myself up about labour... Am very much enjoying not being at work though.

Ooh only, so nearly there... Think I would have moved back water breaking too as it sounds like you're so tantalisingly close to going into labour naturally!

Naturegirl82 · 20/01/2014 11:57

Glad I'm not the only one!

only how come they were planning on breaking your waters so early if you don't mind me asking.

I think my problem is I had it in my head the baby would be early as both of my sisters were and the baby has been measuring a couple of weeks ahead the whole time. And I'm just disheartened that it isn't looking likely my grandad will get to meet the baby and my parents won't get to meet her until she is 3 months old. Oh well. Might bake some cupcakes later to give myself something to do.
