I see the mw less than a first time mom would, but she has clinics on a Tuesday and Friday so maybe i could see her both times? I'll ask tomorrow.

also, my experience with ds tells me i sleep more after the baby is born then while pregnant. Which makes no sense.

I'm sitting on the sofa watching Criminal Minds while ds is supposed to be napping but isn't.

littlealien01 · 02/01/2014 13:35

hi ladies,

sorry for tmi, just went to the loo and there was a small amount of reddish blood when i wiped. i dont seem to still be bleeding but have stuck a pad on incase.

im 38+2. is this normal or should i be freaking out and ringing labour ward?? currently freaking out

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 13:46

It could be your plug.

when i had that, they said it might be because my cervix was moving and it had burst a small capillary. Call the labour ward to be sure

Naturegirl82 · 02/01/2014 14:05

Just had mw appointment and all is good. Baby's head is about 3/5ths engaged and baby is facing the right way so all good. Still only going to see her every two weeks as don't feel the need to see her every week. Started the big clean today, so far going well Smile

Congratulations altered. Hope you come back soon and tell us the wee ones name.

And welcome mummyish - I'm not sure how you would get more sweeps. My MW does the clinic attached to our local (no labour ward, no a and e) hospital on a Wednesday and an even more local clinic in my village on a Thursday. With Ds the two occassions I could have been offered sweeps it wasn't favourable (1 week apart), he arrived at 40+11 on the day I was going to be induced.

Slept on the floor last night which was much more comfortable and am not as achey today. Dp joined me in solidarity but he found it uncomfy so he's going back in the bed tonight. Have an appointment with MW today at 3.15 so hope to see if bubs has engaged.

Hope everyone's doing well, hanging in there and not too uncomfy.

MummyIsh · 02/01/2014 14:25

Thanks enormouse

I'm such a neurotic flapper - I think next Fri is too early for a sweep as it's before my EDD, but I'd like the option of having a few from the following Friday onwards. Not asking for much am I! Wink Will just have to have a chat with the mw next week.

Fingers crossed for your appointment this afternoon - I find myself planning my entire week around my appointments lately!

MrsVDB · 02/01/2014 14:26

Got my last growth scan at 4pm ( week late due to Christmas) at last apt was told 3/5 engaged so will be interesting to see if anything has changed. Also keen to see if he's back to back as I still slouch alot and haven't blown my ball up yet

Still in dressing gown after napping on sofa after my shower. So exhausted. Need to get cracking

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 14:30

I'm 38 weeks and will be asking for a sweep all the time!

i don't think I'm engaged at all, apparently it's common with the second.

i weighed myself today and I'm 14 stones 2. Which means i have put on 1lb in 4 weeks. So hopefully wont be having a giant baby after all

littlealien01 · 02/01/2014 14:43

thanks frying. labour ward said to come in for a check so here now.

i know nothing about sweeps so cant help there.

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 14:44

I'm sure it's nothing - well as sure as i can be! - but good luck!

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 15:10

TMI question - when you have "leakage" and it goes onto your pants/pad, does it leak out the top of your fanjo rather than where your pants would link into the actual vagina iyswim? It does for me, it always has done, but I wondered if I was normal

GoshAnneGorilla · 02/01/2014 15:12

Frying - I'm not engaged at all either and was also told it's v common with the second.

AnotherStitchInTime · 02/01/2014 15:58

littlealien if it is reddish brown and mucusy it is likely to be from your cervix, if it is bright red then definitely call maternity helpline to check.

Good news nature, sounds like baby is getting ready, good nesting :)

enormouse glad you got a better nights sleep.

frying yes we use vapourisers/damp towels with olbas oil/vapour rub on feet and chest with dd2, but you can't use them with babies under three months unfortunately so steam and breastmilk/saline up the nose and regular feeding are the only options.

Dd2 has now got another round of anti-b's from the docs as her tonsils are really swollen. Poor DH has to get her to take three lots a day, plus pain relief, a throat spray, saline up the nose and vapour rub. Massive tantrums abound.

chocoloulou34 · 02/01/2014 16:00

Hello all. Getting bit nervous now. Induction 2moro. I rly thought it was all starting early this morning. Have had a bad stomach since 4am. Literally must have been 20 times 2day. Not nice. But when I went into labour with dd it all started like this. Was on toilet all night and contractions started pretty much straight away with it too. But nope nothing so far other than the dodgy belly. Will they still induce me 2moro if ive got a bad stomach?

AnotherStitchInTime · 02/01/2014 16:10

x-post littlealien glad you are getting checked out.

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 16:11

Rubbish another i thought the vapouriser was safe from newborn.

choco i cant see why they wouldn't. Maybe quickly call to ask?

Angelesque · 02/01/2014 16:14

Another what's the breastmilk in the nose thing? Never heard of it but keen to get any insider knowledge I can absorb in the few weeks before baby arrives!

sarahleanne · 02/01/2014 16:23

Good luck for tomorrow choco! Hope all goes well.

I'm gutted the midwife couldn't do a sweep as babies head wasn't engaged . Ten minutes after leaving I felt the head banging my cervix, so frustrating .

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 16:25

I wonder then if I'll get one. My little brother never engaged, turned out the cord was wrapped around his throat a couple of times, so he never engaged, just came through.

my mom got a sweep tho, but she was in the north east at the time, I'm in the north west

littlealien01 · 02/01/2014 16:34

frying it might tell you in your notes-although mine just say you might be offered a sweep.

sarah thats frustrating, hope things start movi g for you soon

choco good luck for tomorrow, idve thoought the dodgy tummy was a good sign.

back from labour ward as no sign of problems after all the checks, so just a mystery for now.

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 16:40

We'll see what she says. She's pretty straight forward so will be totally truthful and will tell me if there is no hope.

I'm having toothache again :( The dentist made clear he can't do anything really without an xray which they can't do while i'm still preggo. So that's a little rubbish

TobyLerone · 02/01/2014 16:50

That's weird, sarah. I had sweeps with both my previous pregnancies and neither of them ever engaged until labour. I wonder if they've changed guidelines or something.

Good luck tomorrow, loulou! I'm sure you'll do great.

I thought it might all be kicking off last night too. Had really uncomfortable BHs every 10-20 mins all evening and serious backache. Woke up at 1am with the same again. Went back to sleep around 4am, and nothing much since. I was super busy yesterday, though, so perhaps I overdid it.

Today I have done more cleaning -- moved furniture in the living room to clean under/behind it, hoovered whole house, steam mopped some areas and washed other bits on my hands and knees with a cloth...
Nada!

fryingpantoface · 02/01/2014 16:55

That sucks Toby it's the feeling like it's start/shopping which ticks me off. That and people now messaging asking for news. Gits

TobyLerone · 02/01/2014 16:56

frying, haven't you got the best part of a month to go? What are they thinking?!

TobyLerone · 02/01/2014 17:01

For anyone who asks if you've had the baby yet, send them this :o
