Went to post on the other thread and it was full! Hope people find this one ok.

Oh no tarka sorry it wasnt the birth you had planned. It all sounds v stressful, but you obviously did amazingly well and you are both doing ok.
Hope Alex's blood sugars start building so you avoid scbu and hope you start feeling better too.
Am sure everything will be fine in the end.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 01/01/2014 13:41

Lovely news- congrats Tarka and sultana!

Toby we've just gutted the house of anything christmas related, and deep cleaned the whole of upstairs, including rearranging all the furniture in our bedroom. The storage cupboard has been re-Tetris-ified with all the Christmas stuff at the back and baby stuff at the front. Feeling slightly more prepared, although I'm itching to do the rest of the cupboards now. Nesting-central!

BuntCadger · 01/01/2014 13:47

Thanks for new thread :)

Can I ask if anyone felt very sick prior to labour? I know this is never 4 so I should really know but I just feel weak and sick/wobbly almost like anxiety but too physical iykwim

Wanting decs and tree down now too as just want it all tidy.

The horse riding feeling someone asked about, yup got that too. It's where the baby's head is down I think.

BuntCadger · 01/01/2014 13:49

And had good chat with labour ward lady re birth plan and I can try for water birth despite it being vbac as mobile telemetry will work :) she's also written birth plan with delayed clamping, physiological 3rd stage etc and apologised for what happened with dc3 x

GummiBear74 · 01/01/2014 13:52

bunt, I think that sultana said something about nausea just before she went into labour. I've had nausea all the way through, so I'm just hoping it doesn't get worse!

Percypiglet · 01/01/2014 13:55

Congrats to both of you, Sultana and Tarka , welcome to your little ones.

I'm sure I'll be here for several more weeks as not due til the 18th so I can keep all the late January due dates company! No sign of any baby coming at present, all nice and wriggly and cosy inside!

Happy New Year all.

BuntCadger · 01/01/2014 14:36

Thanks gummi, I just feel 'wrong'

Percy my edd is 13th and with 3 others I niggled before like I am again. But their arrivals varied so could be anytime

Bluecarrot · 01/01/2014 15:12

Are you resting bunt? Maybe its your body trying to tell you something? Sip lots of water and get yourself to bed with relaxing music. Contact maternity unit if you start getting pains or v dizzy. My midwife says " there's a drug for almost everything in labour" Grin

I have been v active this am in attempt to get her moving down and pressure building up in my bits so hoping its her pressing down. Annoyingly I think I've got thrush and a nappy rash kinda thing from wearing Always pad last night (I'm a mooncup girl!) so down there v uncomfortable. Them I realise I need to get a baby out of there soon and this is nothing compared to birth! ;)

Need to chat to DP about doula. Pretty sure his exact response will be "whatever you want"
Or "it's up to you". It could be £200 well spent or I could end up with c section almost immediately and its a waste of money.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/01/2014 15:36

quacko sorry you had stressful time, I really hope things improve swiftly from here.

bunt I'm with you. I don't feel 'right' either, haven't done for a few days. Feel bizarrely untired for someone who's been getting 4 hours sleep a night, spacy, disconnected and staring into the middle distance. Also faintly nauseated by food, and some pressure down below.
Fx for us both!

tarka god you had a run of it, eh? So glad you're okay, hope Alex's blood sugars pick up soon.

blue why not book one if it reassures you and you can afford it? I've booked a TENS machine, despite thinking they're probably placebo effect or worse!

frizz hurrah for lovely mw! At last, someone reassuring! I knew you were doing okay, just needed someone to tell you so.

Just deep cleaned kitchen, need to Hoover floor so I can mop now. Ought to go out to sainsbury's but cannot be arsed in the rain.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/01/2014 15:38

Also, mythree, I think you do need to resolve it. The Ina May Gaskin book on childbirth has loads of anecdotes about women delaying labour to sort emotions out. Still think your DM was being VU, but hope you can sort things out with her.

BookTart · 01/01/2014 15:42

tarka that sounds as though it must have been very scary for you. I hope that both you and Alex can get home soon.

I'm feeling dizzy bunt, but not sick. I have taken this as sign to eat more Grin but will definitely call my midwife tomorrow if it continues. I also managed to sleep through the night and just had a 2 hour nap, so maybe I'm just knackered. I hope you feel better soon.

blue a doula sounds like a great idea. It'd be worth £200 for post-natal support alone I reckon, but if you're worried about induction then it would be even more useful.

fryingpantoface · 01/01/2014 16:14

Being a dozy cow i didn't realise the other thread was full. Just thought everyone was busy today!

yey for all the good news! Boo for the bad.

I'm shattered. I feel totally drained. I've had a long nap and I'm going to drag myself out of bed. Wrt being nauseous, I'm not feeling sick, just off. I dunno what it is, but will see the midwife on Friday.

fryingpantoface · 01/01/2014 16:47

I've also been unable to focus on books. Normally i read so much! I can't even focus on trashy mags like Pick me Up.

dh thinks it'll be soon as apparently i was just the same with ds. He could just be saying what he thinks i want to hear

quackojuliet · 01/01/2014 16:47

Well we are still in hospital sadly sofias levels have not improved without her being under the light so she is back under with canulas in both hands an extra light and a dome

Truly horrible situsation we are desperate. Neither of us coping well as its stress upon utter exhaustion. My sister is bringinng us food luckily as suffer with crappy food here and only for me not dh

Gutting to keep getting messages from people unaware of situuation assuming all is well

frizz nice midwife makes massive difference. Fortunately here there are loads and we have been treated well. Baby doctors however have a terrible bedside manner

We are looking at atleast 24 hs here, buzy ward and nowhere for dh to sleep how do we cope???

Felix90 · 01/01/2014 16:50

Quack I'm so sorry, that sounds like a nightmare Confused I don't really have any advice but hope things improve soon and you can go home and get settled.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/01/2014 17:06

quacko you poor darling. No experience to offer as comfort, and I'm sure right now you feel overwhelmed. Can you focus on getting through the next hour/half hour? Then go for a five min break or walk or coffee or something?
We're here for you.

fryingpantoface · 01/01/2014 17:15

Oh quacko that's awful. Keep trying to get through 30 mins at a time

alteredimages · 01/01/2014 17:20

Hello everyone

Missed the end of the last thread but it sounds like congratulations are in order for tarka and sultana.

Well, it's lucky we went to hospital when we did last night because we arrived at 8 by which time waters had gone from pink to green. I was hooked up to the monitor for baby's heartbeat which was fine but contractions were coming thick and fast. Was 3cm at 8.30pm, 5cm at 10.15pm and baby boy born at 10.33pm. It was not the zen birth I had with DD but it is at least over!

TobyLerone · 01/01/2014 17:28

Oh, juliet, you poor thing. I hope Sofia improves rapidly and you can get home.

Knackered. Knackered. Knackered.
Deep-cleaned kitchen and bathroom, DH cleared out the cupboard under the stairs, and we finally got the side panel on the bath, which was a fucker and a half!

Having loads of BH and my back is killing, but I'm not daft enough to think it's anything but overdoing it.

TobyLerone · 01/01/2014 17:30

Wow, altered! Congratulations. I was hoping we'd hear from you today. What are you calling him?

fryingpantoface · 01/01/2014 17:31

Congratulations altered!

how big was he? Did they say why they didn't answer the phone?

BookTart · 01/01/2014 17:36

Congratulations altered!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/01/2014 18:00

Congratulations altered that's fab! So glad you did go in, phew! What name have you picked? Oooh, all these babies, I want one now!

Felix90 · 01/01/2014 18:05

Wow altered! Congrats!

fryingpantoface · 01/01/2014 18:19

I've just had a mini gush of liquid when i went to the toilet.

am trying not to get excited. Have got a panty liner on and am semi reclined on the bed as a test. If i have any doubts, I'm going to use my clean urine sample pot and try and catch some. Or does that sound crazy?

also, just to admit it, i tasted it, the mini gush. It tasted sweet, not acidic like wee would taste.

the things i share!
