book huge congrats. Lovely name and yay for the water birth! Cant wait for more details later when you have time.

mythree i would be miffed. If he wants to go galavanting off doing something with friends then fine, but he needs a plan in place for if you need him urgently. He also needs to give you some payback if he wants to do something for him, he needs to give you the opportunity to do something for you like take the kids on sunday.
Grrr men!

Felix90 · 10/01/2014 19:27

'Life on hold' ShockShockShock I can't believe he would say that! I'd definitely be putting my foot down with that comment!

fryingpantoface · 10/01/2014 19:32

Congrats book!

space lovely to hear from you.

i have been reading the thread, but not posting. I'm just shattered!

it's odd thinking Henry is 2 days old, time has flown. I'm still bleeding (obv) but it's starting to go mucousy now, that's a good sign. As the placenta was on the front, according to the midwife, it'll hurt for longer when it heals because I'm constantly irritating the trying to heal wound. When the placenta is on the back, every day moving doesn't really irritate it. So that isn't fun!

AnotherStitchInTime · 10/01/2014 19:59

mythree I gave birth to my older two at 39 weeks! I would have hit the roof, if he can't prioritise you at this time over a drink with his mate then he is a selfish twat. Life on hold! Are you and your children so much of an inconvenience to him?! I would be telling him that he can go, but he could expect to find his bags packed outside the door when he returns.

Mythreeknights · 10/01/2014 20:25

Thanks guys...all opinions welcome and good to hear that I wasn't being pathetic. He told his friend that he wouldn't be joining them...not addressed the 'life on hold comment' (should I?!) but i said it wasn't brilliantly responsible for him to do this right now. Slightly stewing if I am honest (and tonight was supposed to be shag night to get things going..first time in months...and it's the last thing I feel like doing, bloody hell). Angry

Toothfairy78 · 10/01/2014 21:36

Evening all,

Congrats to book and hooray for mat leave!

Sorry in advance RANT ALERT...

My father is at my house with my middle brother today to meet Karen. I hate my dad because he's totally self centred and cares about cameras more than people and does not listen.

I specifically told him to aim to arrive here on the EVENING. Not like last time when he arrived 3 hours too early on Xmas and we were not ready. I told him we were busy during the day, so please arrive IN THE EVENING. The fuckhead shows up at lunchtime anyway just as I'm leaving the house to run errands. I tell him off in the street and he goes "Oh that's alright!", like he's the one owed other apology! He then dinged his car letting me out of my driveway. Hah!

Later he tells me I should be sleeping in the afternoon so I don't get tired. Well if he had showed up in the evening like I said!!! Luckily my brother and Dh are totally sympathetic.

He's also been "talking" Karen over the phone convinced she recognises him. She's bloody 12 days old! And he keeps asking if she can do this or that and why she sleeps a lot. She's 12 days old!!

He's lucky I haven't throttled him yet.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 23:13

Oh tooth what a fuckstick. You need to buy him a children's toy clock, and a book on learning to tell the time, and keep giving him that present, every Christmas and birthday until he improves.

Or learn to hide when he turns up.

mythree I'd address it. It'll fester otherwise. Maybe he meant it as a shit unfunny joke?

Twinge central here. Massively stabby cervix pains, head feels even lower and it's a bit uncomfortable to sit, back hurts, occasional painful BH. Knowing my luck I'll have this for 48 hours, then nothing again Hmm.

Felix90 · 11/01/2014 00:17

Argh tooth how frustrating! I second Humptys idea, that did make me chuckle!

I've got the luxury of having another night off Shock see, there is a positive side to your OH going out and spending the best part of 500 quid on a new PS4. He wants to stay up all night and 'look after the baby' all of a sudden! Grin

BuntCadger · 11/01/2014 00:27

congratulations book Smile looking forward to birth story once you are all settled in.

space - it's good to hear from you, the butterfly print sounds lovely. are you kerlkng/making a memory box too? I'm glad you have supporting family and friends. xx

contentions stopped here as I suspect they would. I could have another sweep tomorrow but im veering to trip to zoo instead so kids get some fresh air and I get a good walk. I'll see mw again Tuesday so only 4 days till she will have a go.

Naturegirl82 · 11/01/2014 05:37

I've been awake for the last hour again, getting a little tedious that I keep waking just after 4. Waiting for the pooch to wake up and then I might go and watch some tv downstairs and try to get a bit of sleep on the sofa.

Not sure if anything is going on here, getting a lot of bh, still got the cervix pain and lower back ache now. I also just feel off (bit queasy), has anyone else had that? Don't know if that is related to anything or it's something I ate or just because I'm tired. I'm also ridiculously thirsty but drank loads during the night but haven't needed to pee. Now wondering if I've felt as much movement today as usual (I think waking at this time is bad as it gives me too much time to think!). Baby has changed position so that might be playing a part. She has definitely been moving since I came to bed and also had a massive bout of the hiccups. It might just be that the bh are masking her movement. Will keep an eye on it today I think and phone midwife if she doesn't seem to be very active.

Planning on taking pooch on another long walk with Dh, and also going to get some frozen yoghurt as my friend has just opened a shop. Sadly I'm very excited!

tooth I would be very annoyed about that especially if it always happens!

Bunt hopefully it will all start off again today

mythree I would be annoyed about your Dh's comments as well

Just an update for you (name changed about a month ago due to another thread but been here since the ttc threads lurking mostly) we've had our baby boy!!
Not sure when labour started really, had the backache all day, 'active labour' was 59 mins in total ?? regular little pains til went to bed at about midnight, woke up 1.30am, had a bath, tony woke up 3, got to hospital 3.30am. Water birth, gas & air plus another injection (?) frigging AGONY, pushed 5 mins, baby born 5 am 10/01/14, bf well. 7lb 4oZ.
Reading and running as a bit busy so will catch up later Grin

MerryPops · 11/01/2014 08:36

Hi everyone, another newbie here! Well not technically a newbie as been lurking for ages so I feel like I know you all, but finally finished work yesterday so I can get some proper Mumsnetting in rather than reading and running!

Congrats to all with new lovely babies, I am due 24th with first baby, team blue. For all those worried about being last left on this thread I'm sure I will be here too!

Had a smooth pregnancy so far although as the time gets near I seem to be getting more paranoid about every symptom that something might be amiss. 38 week Dr's appt on Thurs, everything fine but trace amounts of protein in wee which has made me more edgy I think. Dh doesn't get it, I think it's because whilst baby is baking us ladies have sole responsibility for their welfare, trying to get the balance of knowing when something is wrong but not ringing midwife every 5 minutes isn't easy!

Anyway I hope to be around here more now, contracty thoughts to all those who need them and have a lovely Saturday everyone :-)

AnotherStitchInTime · 11/01/2014 10:05

nature frozen yoghurt is exciting (and good for heartburn!). Sorry to hear about your early waking pattern. Glad to hear baby is wriggling well.

Congratulations mistletoe, another quick birth, hope you are recovering well and enjoying your time with your baby boy :)

merry I think you are right re: responsibility for baby in uterine, but it extends beyond birth, you don't really stop worrying. Luckily, if you have a conscientious partner, once they are born you have someone to share it with.

Has anyone heard from sultana? Hope she is ok.

Lovely sunny day here again. Might not make it out though as we are the house of the walking wounded. I over did it yesterday walking to get Mason's birth registered and DH has sciatica so bad his bollocks are hurting, poor guy.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/01/2014 10:07

Morning.
Hello merry and mistletoe!

Congrats mistletoe, what was your NN before? You had such a quick labour!

nature I get the random thoughts in the middle of the night too! not much else to do then! Hope the twinges lead to something.

bunt enjoy the zoo! sorry ctx have stopped.

Nothing here, loads of back pain and period cramps all through the night, and sitting down still feels like I'm sitting on baby's head, nice.

QueenArseClangers · 11/01/2014 11:05

Hello ladies, can I join?

EDD 18/01 so 39 weeks today with DC 5 (4th biologically).
Bloody fed up with prodromal labour and spd. Booked for a homebirth but Jesus, I forgot how these last days/weeks drag. Especially when in agony!

Frizz1986 · 11/01/2014 12:40

Booo tooth you pops sounds a bit idiotic! I would be v peeved.

Yay felix for another night off! Make the most of it.

humpty fx that all this stop start stuff is the beginning of it all for you and suddenly things will really kick of and you can have squishy cuddle time.

bunt hopefully the long walk will be just as effective as any mw sweep.

nature sorry for all the random waking up. At least you'll be uber ready for baby feeds! Def keep an eye on all the movements as bh really can make you forget if you have felt anything.

mistletoe wow crazy fast birth there. It is agony but so worth it. Glad everyone is safe and well.

merry hello! Yay for finishing work. Its a tough balancing act being responsible but also not the crazy lady who calls the mw all the time. I feel no better now baby has arrived, still questioning everything!

Oh no another take things nice and slow. Sometimes a day of relax is required and unfortunately other things have to wait (if they can that is)

Welcome queen Wow dc5!!! Sorry the last weeks are dragging. Fx things start happening soon.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 11/01/2014 13:16

Humpty every time I sit down I feel like she's going to pop out my belly button! She's so far forward when I sit it all gets squeezed out even more. Urgh.

Nothing here since losing plug last Monday. I really thought things would have kicked off but it's been a week since now. Have a checkup in the morning where I'll get a sweep if favorable. Hopefully that might kick things off. 39w tomorrow. Out you come, baby!

Welcome to all the new people!

littleraysofsunshine · 11/01/2014 13:29

Onlythepurpleones- I feel exactly the same. Baby just lunges out with limbs even though it's apparently not back to back. This is dc3 and I have never felt the movements as strong!!!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/01/2014 17:08

Hello queen v impressed you're doing this for the fourth time!

only yup! this one is a massive wriggler/flailer too.

littleray mine too, I can't imagine how it contorts sometimes, but I guess sometimes I'm getting kneed or elbowed rather than kicked or punched IYSWIM.

Walk earlier (after a cheeky shag, which was logistically challenging but endlessly amusing) may have got something on the move, pretty sure I had a few ctx when out. Really strong twisting/pulling feeling which was strong enough to stop me walking? Happening every 10-20 mins or so, but irregularly. Might be nothing, but I hope it's v early days for me, that would be so ace. Also feeling v zen and happy today, even between pains.

Mythreeknights · 11/01/2014 17:28

humpty sounds encouraging...what is your due date?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/01/2014 17:57

mythree I'm eight days over. My due date by LMP was yesterday though, but got moved back a week at 12 wk scan.

How are you doing?

TarkaTheOtter · 11/01/2014 18:08

Alex got discharged by the midwives today as the little porker has put on 11oz in 7 days! Not too surprising as he feeds constantly round the clock but nice to know it's doing something. We're now pretty much full on cosleeping at night now as I can't be bothered to try and settle him in Moses basket but midwife suggested propping him on his side in it so I might try that tonight.

Good luck to all of you still pregnant!

Frizz1986 · 11/01/2014 19:00

Fx the cheeky shag works humpty

Glad the mws discharged you tarka Aurelia was the same and put on just over 11oz in 6 days but she really needed it. She now wakes up and wants feeding every 3 hrs (at least) so no more need to wake her up. Yay!

Having indian takeaway for tea as cant be bothered. Need to get my pelvic floors done too as have failed miserably today.
