I'm not too bad thank you for asking Thanks gradually settling back into life & figuring out how to work the 'new' me into the 'old' world. DH has been incredible & I've been so lucky that I have some very, very special friends in my life. They didn't necessarily turn out to be the people I thought would be the ones that stepped up but I'm still a very, very lucky lady. Work have also been amazing. I'm now back full time & have been moved into a new job role which I'm really enjoying. Of course I miss Idris dreadfully and always will but it's easier to see the good now rather than be constantly overwhelmed with the bad. I went to B&Q today & saw a lovely framed butterfly print. A few weeks ago it would have reduced me to tears but today instead, I bought it - no idea where I'm going to put it but I don't care Smile

With regards the bleeding, I asked my GP when I went to see her around the 9 week mark and she basically said as long as it wasn't getting heavier & staying heavy (you might find you have odd heavy days here and there), as long as you aren't getting massive clots (some small clots apparently quite normal) & as long as it doesn't smell different then you're probably ok. I was so glad she said smell different as all the websites I read said if it smells 'bad. As far as my nose was concerned I smelt like an open sewer but DH said he couldn't smell a thing so I guess I was just still a bit sensitive Blush

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 14:05

mythree phew! And glad your DM rang, hope it turns out to be to apologise and explain.

enjoying still in awe at your delivery! So cool.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 14:11

toby that has massively cheered me up, thank you! I saw induction/epidural as the end of all my nice plans to do things naturally, vertically, easily (!) etc, so glad it may not mean that.

space 12 weeks pp? Blimey, I imagine that's the last thing you wanted!

Well, good news, head is 2/5 engaged, and cervix is 'nicely soft and stretchy' and thin. She managed the sweep, which was fine (for anyone who's worried, I honestly thought it was going to be painful, it totally wasn't, just odd, and a bit scratchy) and then we walked home (makes 2 miles of walking today in total) and now feeling quite... open and a bit sore, quite period pain-y, so hopeful it may have done good.
She booked me for induction next fri, when I'll be 42 weeks exactly, so I feel I'll have given it a good chance to get there naturally. Feeling much more settled now.

Brew all round?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 14:15

space x post. What's the new job role? Sounds like you're doings amazingly well at getting the new and old you back into harness. So glad you have a fab DH and good friends, that's the least you should have.

And of course you miss Idris, I can't imagine that will ever stop, but it sounds like some peace is creeping in? The butterfly print sounds perfect, where would you see it often? I'd put it there.

Naturegirl82 · 10/01/2014 14:37

Glad things are starting to get easier for you space

Good that things are looking positive for you humpty fx the sweep kicks things off

I took pooch on a 3 mile walk which was nice and seems to have moved baby in the right direction as now feel like I have a bowling ball between my legs, bh and cervix pains have kicked off again. Currently bouncing away on my ball

I will check for different smells as I also think it smells pretty skanky! But it's blood hanging around in your pants so of course it shouldn't smell pretty.
What is the new role? Must be nice to have a change and something new to focus on. The butterfly frame sounds really nice. It's good that you have some amazing friends and brilliant dp and that you are slowly being able to move forward with life. Am sure Idris will always be at the forefront of your thoughts and his memory will always be kept alive by talking about him.

humpty Glad baby is engaged and the sweep was ok. Fx tthis could start some things.

nature Ooo Hope the bowling ball pains lead somewhere.

only Will def look into some accounts. It's very much for Xmas money and the odd £10 etc that she gets. I also hope it'll give her a some savings for the future but will be a bit of money for things that she really wants when she is growing up that we can't afford.

GummiBear74 · 10/01/2014 15:41

Hi space, it's so nice of you to pop in and talk to us and send your good wishes. I'm so glad that everything seems to be going as well as it possibly can under the circumstances.

frizz, I've been looking into savings accounts, too, apparently the PIL want to put something aside as soon as she's born. I've seen the Halifax one, but it seems like a bit of a faff to be moving the money about every year. Whatever account you open, if it's in her name, make sure you fill in the form that means that tax isn't automatically deducted from the interest.

Very jealous, humpty and nature, sounds like things may get going any time! Nothing to report here, but not much sleep for 3 nights now, plus a heavy cold, so not fancying labour much right now!

JUST ONE HOUR LEFT UNTIL I START MATERNITY LEAVE!

So excited ladies.

This baby had better give me at least a week of vegetating on the sofa before it arrives

BookTart · 10/01/2014 16:53

Quick update from me (sorry to post and run!)
Persephone Isobel arrived at 10:40 this morning after two hours in the pool, weighing 7lb 15oz. Everyone is doing well and she is lovely :)

TobyLerone · 10/01/2014 17:10

Well done, book! Glad you got a lovely MLU birth :)
Are you going home today?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 17:10

book congratulations! And I second the beautiful name, that's truly lovely!

angel woohoo mat leave!

No signs here, apart from v achy lower back and still got sore bits (not from the sweep, just achy feeling), but have just made apple crumble, about to make choc brownies for the freezer, ready for guests!

Mac2014 · 10/01/2014 17:14

humpty good news on the sweep! sounds like you'll be there before your induction!

toby so glad to hear your induction story. Makes me feel better about mine tomorrow!

book fab name!! And how quickly did that happen - fantastic news!

space glad you are still checking in & good to hear you're doing ok.

I'm still trying to get the regular contractions kicked off. Have slept, had hot baths, walked up hills, eaten a box of chocs & am now on my ball! Getting there just v slowly!!

Hope everyone is doing ok!

AnotherStitchInTime · 10/01/2014 17:19

Congratulations book, great name, glad you got to use the pool x

angel Yay for Mat leave, hope you have got some relaxing planned among the nesting or organising.

toby, I love the name Meredith, very pretty :)

space lovely to hear from you. Glad you have lots of rl support. The butterfly print sounds lovely, I hope that it can provide a positive reminder of Idris for you. Big hugs x

enormouse glad your DP came home and was more helpful.

enjoying I had stronger, more painful uterine contractions after I had dd2. Quite glad that I haven't had them this time.

Still bleeding here post hysterectomy, but I will never have a period or cervical smear again, so a few weeks of bleeding is not too much to suffer.

Felix90 · 10/01/2014 17:21

Congrats book! Love her name!

Naturegirl82 · 10/01/2014 17:35

Hello all,
Good luck to all who feel things are moving.
Congrats to Book, well done.

Midwife today - baby fully engaged at 38+6. I have back ache and an odd pain in my side but don't expect it is anything.... I reckon I've got a bit more time yet. Sweep booked for 40 +6.

MrsVDB · 10/01/2014 18:35

Congratulations book that was quick (although I doubt it felt quick!)

Woo angel well done on sticking it out. I left just before Christmas and not sure I could still be working now.

Changing table collected today and got baskets to go under them so finally have somewhere to put baby clothes so did my first washload today :) although only towels and blankets so far. Spare/ baby room is getting there :) although did spill a pot of paint on new carpet today but cleaned up ok so won't tell dh!

Mythreeknights · 10/01/2014 18:47

Congrats book!! Amazing news and look forward to hearing more detail in due course.

Well, I am joining the club of having dickish husbands...just spoken to dh who is on his way home, who said he's been invited on a lads do tomorrow/tomorrow night and what do I think? I thought he had some work to do over the weekend so was planning half a day tomorrow out with kids, but if he spends all of saturday out then he will need Sunday to catch up with work, and that means no help with children all weekend, and obviously no 'us' time. His friend is particularly un thoughtful, but I would have thought that inviting anyone's husband when their wife is over 39 weeks pg out for half the weekend is a shit thing to do. Or am I being precious? Dh then said even if my life was on hold, there was no need for his life to be in hold too Hmm. Feel like my bp has just shot up and the support I thought I had just isn't there!!!

Bluecarrot · 10/01/2014 19:07

Congrats book and so pleased you got some time in the water!

mythree has he said he is going? Have you asked how he will fit this other stuff in with his current weekend plans? TBH maybe his mates think its easier for him to come out this weekend while you are pregnant than in a few days/weeks when you have just had a baby?

I haven't put anything on hold except some housework! In fact, I'm out more often now than normal ( with spare leggings, pants, pad and absorbent care mat in my bag in case of water breakage!)

My DP on my nerves too though. I just breeze about and get on with things and have let him sulk about all he wants.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 10/01/2014 19:17

Congrats book! What a lovely name!

TobyLerone · 10/01/2014 19:17

mythree, I was with him up until the 'life on hold' comment. Then I thought he was a dick.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/01/2014 19:18

mythree will he be drinking? If so, how are you planning to get to hospital? If he is driving, I'd be pointing out to him just how many of us have already popped and how likely it is that you might be next.

If not, it comes down to you being expected to look after DC whilst he has fun. What do you get in return for being sole carer all day Sat? Will he take the kids Sunday so you can do something of your choosing? If not, I'd be quite Hmm about the idea.
