Hello Newbies! :)

3rd that Book and Fly* I just worry what if I don't notice something is wrong, Iykwim?

Booked in for an induction next week so now there is a definite end point, feel a bit more relaxed.

Bluecarrot · 09/01/2014 16:29

I'm the opposite and trying to avoid induction! But my consultant has booked me in for the 11th. Everything looking good except sonographer said there didn't seem to be much fluid... But then she also pointed out the babies face....which was actually the placenta so not much faith in her. When I said the baby is head down she just looked at me, looked at the screen and checked lower down and didn't say anything else!

I'm ok to go for the induction in 3 days. Not happy, but ok.

Really want /need to be out of here soon though or else I'll be late for dd1. Gah!

Frizz1986 · 09/01/2014 16:58

Oh no to inductions. It's starting to get to that time isn't it now. I really feel for you as it was one of the things I wanted to avoid and feel very lucky it never got that far.
The lady in my nct is booked for next Thurs and she is gutted as it means she has to go to the hospital as well.
Fx babies are just being stubborn and they will all of a sudden make their move! Damn cosy uterus's. Science should really find out why we go into labour and then there would be no need for inductions.

BookTart · 09/01/2014 17:19

blue that sonographer sound terrible!

Yeah, I really wanted to avoid induction because of the whole lot of other interventions that seem to come with it, but if it gets the baby out safely then I'll be happy enough. DH is dead set against induction, but then he isn't a worrier like me!

fly my midwife noted my anxiety at my booking in appointment, and the baby's reluctance to move about has hardly been reassuring. I'm normally a really laid back person (as the baby seems to be!) so it is hard to know how much it is okay to worry if you see what I mean. Anyway, she'll be here by the end of next week at the latest which is good. Also you've reminded me that I also have left over After Eights, so dinner is sorted :)

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2014 17:20

Well I am knackered. Picked up picture for babies room this morning which I love (just wish the room was ready for it to go in!), then rest of the day has been spent cleaning, but I now have lovely hoovered and cleaned carpets which smell lovely. Amazing the difference it makes. Had a visit from the mil for a cup of tea as well whch was nice. Sat down for the evening now I think. Things seem to have stopped here, no more cramps that I've noticed. Oh well.

It's crazy thinking that i now have a baby!

Henry ended up sleeping in our bed with us last night. I'm not too worried as ds did too. If your worried felix turn the heating slightly up and sleep under a sheet with the baby. Honestly you'll be fine.

dh took ds to nursery today and left me and Henry at home sleeping. When i woke at 8:50 and dh wasn't next to me in bed (he was going to come back to bed after dropping ds off) i had a slight panic and called him. He was only downstairs. Whoops! He took Henry down with him and i had another couple of hours.

we went into town today for a couple of hours and it was nice to get out the house. Mw came to do his checks and Henry is bruised because of the fast birth, but that will go to normal soon.

BookTart · 09/01/2014 17:59

Aww frying that sounds so lovely, and your DH sounds great :)

sarahleanne · 09/01/2014 18:32

book my niece is great thanks and made a full recovery :) which is amazing.

Well contractions have slowed down a bit even though I went for an hour long walk!!!! Damnit :(

MrsVDB · 09/01/2014 18:39

Welcome newbies :) never too late

Great news about your neice sarah

Sorry have forgotten what every one else has said as shattered

Just realised how moany this mornings post was! Feeling a lot more positive now with my nice new carpet. Also meant spare bed, wardbrobe and cot could be put up :) progress is being made :)

Angelesque · 09/01/2014 18:42

Nature you're planning on hypnobirthing, aren't you? Are you testing out your techniques on your cramps? Just curious... I've been testing mine on my BHs and they do seem to help... Let's hope they help on the real thing! Grin

BandontheFun · 09/01/2014 19:11

book I kinda feel the same ideally this baby would come out by itself, preferably now, but like you said if it gets it them out safely.

Nature and MrsV pretty productive day for you both. I have now reached the point where I have tidied and cleaned so much I can't be assed doing anymore. So sat on my ball watching The IT Crowd all day. The house will prob be in a state again by Saturday. But then DH is off so he can do it!

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2014 19:22

angel hypnobirthing is the plan. The cramps I've had past few days haven't been bad enough to need the breathing techniques but I've used them on the leg cramps I've had at night and it has definitely helped with those

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2014 19:28

band I'm getting to the point where I can't be arsed anymore but only because the house is starting to look like a home rather than the absolute hovel it was. Still a few things to be unpacked and a home for them to be found but if the baby came now I wouldn't be in a panic. Going to take it much easier tomorrow though ad I've knackered myself.

Glad you're feeling more positive mrsv and the house is coming along. I did chuckle at the gay wallpaper. Grin

Welcome to everyone new waves

Glad you've had a good day frying

blue that doesn't fill you with confidence if the sonographer can't identify the correct thing

Sultana hope everything is going ok for you

blue was it you who posted the link about converting vest tops to nursing tops? If so, you inspired me.

I figured you could take the clippy fastener things off some braces and put the metal loop over the bra fastener and use the clips to hold up your vest or (in my case) a cheapo strapless top I had knocking about!

I also sewed a piece of ribbon with safety pins at each end to make a strap to convert my pashminas to a nursing cover up. Will try it later and see if it works...

BuntCadger · 09/01/2014 20:30

Still rumbling away here and been getting stronger more painful Ctx but not OMG pull me to the ground ones so staying home. This stage is hard as can drag on for days and days

ASmidgeofMidge · 09/01/2014 20:46

Excellent! I love a bit of oversharing. Yes, saw the gay wallpaper bit Grin. Well, fell asleep on bed shortly after earlier message - woke up 20 mins before school run Blush Bad mummy! Fanjo stabbies still happening every time I'm upright/walking, but no other signs this evening. It's even been 6 hours approx since last poo! Had reeeeeeaaaaallly long latent phase with dd (back to back and all that) and as it was also 6 years ago, am not sure whether to hope for an earlier arrival or not! Dd was born at 41 +3. Haven't bothered with the RLT this time (given effect last time was worse than negligible!) or any other 'methods' as yet . The Sex sounds good in theory but I can't even get off the sofa without grunting....

How you getting on Bunt?

BookTart · 09/01/2014 20:49

In the spirit of oversharing, if my waters went suddenly would they smell of bleach (or have I just become rampantly incontinent now)? I went to the loo, then nipped upstairs to put a pad on, but it was soaked by the time I got back to the loo.

I've got pissy knickers, haven't I? Sad

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 09/01/2014 20:53

blue, fly, book and band, I think we all feel the same, I would so prefer to go into labour naturally! I'm panicking that induction will mean I can't use the birth centre and all of my dim lighting/calm atmosphere etc preparation will be lost in a medicalised, brightly lit, noisy, public hospital environment. It's making me quite cross, actually. I had a moment earlier where I decided to just ignore mws and docs and do it at home my way, but I know that's crazy. I just hate feeling that no natural labour leads directly to choices being massively limited.

Oh well, what will be will be. Went for a long walk, now have achy back and stabby bumhole pain (did we mention the no-such-thing-as-TMI? Wink) ouch.

Hi diminy, hope tomorrow is dilatey for you!

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2014 22:03

For those of you worried about inductions have you been to see the hospital/labour wards? There was very little difference between the two at mine (and the beds were better in the labour ward as you can make them into chairs etc) and I can still use my birthing ball at mine. I realise induction is not what people have planned but maybe that would put your mind at ease a little? I'll only be monitored every 15 mins as well so no different to home birth or mlu.

OP posts:
Frizz1986 · 09/01/2014 22:04

book all i know is that when my waters went i knew thats what it was. I put a pad on and when i checked to tell the mws if they were clear or not the what i would call runny liquid slime wasnt soaked into the pad but more floating on top of it.....nice huh!
The term pissy knickers has almost made me wet myself laughing though!
pelvic floors pelvic floors

Thinking lovely dilatey thoughts for you all. Hoping for no more inductions and everyone to have the birth where they want.

My friend coming round was really nice. Broke up the day as i do feel like i sit on my arse all the time atm. I suppose still being achy with stitches and not having the car is limiting my explorations. I go out round the block with bubs and pooch but trying to build myself up to bigger treks. Dont want to do too much too soon.

Weird to think that tomorrow is Aurelias EDD!

Have felt emotional this eve. Its not PND just hormones, but its tough not knowing if your baby is happy and you are doing a good job or not. Want to support dh too but i also dont think he gets how tough it is having a baby completely dependent on you as if i want a 10min relax, it seems she wakes and wants feeding so i am always needed. This mum stuff is tough but i love this little thing to pieces. I think once i feel a bit more settled and have a bit of a routine things will be easier.
Plan to attempt bath no 1 at the weekend too!

BuntCadger · 09/01/2014 22:21

getting Ctx every 8 min here. reckon they'll tail off tho overnight but bring positive that they are doing something in terms if shortening overall labour. trying not to be fixated too much on birth as some things aren't controllable but I have birthplan including pool too. am hopeful as this is probably our last.

sending all positive labour vibes to all of you waiting too. feels odd that this time next week I could be snuggling a scrummy newborn Smile Smile xx

flyawayblue · 09/01/2014 22:27

Good luck bunt hope things progress for you tonight.

Feel very emotional this evening and dh upset me without really doing anything, guess this is the lovely third trimester hormones everyone told me about.

flyawayblue · 09/01/2014 22:31

Meant to add that I'm not worried about induction, irritated that it would mean no pool but there might not be one free when I get to the hospital anyway. It's more that with this pregnancy I've become quite anxious and am now worrying over possible problems for her if I do go over, not so worried about me. Well unless I think about it too much but I think everyone is scared of labour in some way Smile
